If this relationship started as she said, I'd say that the first magpie was raised by a human, or had a friendship with someone. Wild magpies don't randomly approach people, but they do trust them for food. They're incredibly intelligent.

I think Magpies are super smart, similar to Ravens and Crows. We had one as a pet, my dad found him, he had fallen out of his nest. So we raised him on our farm, and he was free to leave when he was old enough, which he did over a period of time. We had named him "Hugh". However, later it turned out that "Hugh" was a female!! Because she brought her babies back home 🏡 to visit!! 😁 💙🐦💜🌏

Oh don't mock magpies. They're a real nuisance and won't hesitate swooping down and peck at your neck.

I love birds but would never have one as a pet and this is why. Should birds be pets? They are meant to fly. I don't think flying around your living room quite counts. It's a bit sad.

In my country indonesia, lots of people are having birds as their pet, and put them in cage, it really broke my heart that they couldn’t use their wing as it used to be 😭

that is true for pretty much any animal - being a pet means they're imprisoned, castrated and have their will broken.
i get that most people who keep pets don't have bad intentions (or don't realize the existence of a very dark side within themselves, due to being domesticated from their childhood), but it seems impossible to me to seriously reflect on this issue and not come to the conclusion that it's just as bad as keeping a human slave.
...but yeah, people on average are either stupid or a**holes... that's why i don't socialize very much either
