I love using mine for mixing when paired with Sonarwork's SoundID Reference. I personally feel that it makes a good pair for A/B-ing between critical work and mix checking right in the same pair of headphones. Just a personal preference, but if anyone decides to do it this way with the maxes and soundID, use the cable from apple it makes a world of difference.

I just upgraded from Bose QC 35s to the Sony WH-1000XM4s and remaining happy with that after everything I am hearing about the AirPro Max. If I had nothing and was purchasing for the first time this type of headphone, I would probably go for them. Maybe. 😎 Thank you! Happy Holidays!

That USB-C headphone interface is sooooooo good.
I bought the Blue ath-m50x a few months ago and I love them. I just use them for regular music listening and watching stuff. Added bonus for me is the bright royal blue which look great.

Your review is the one I’ve been waiting for. I have the Audiotechnia headphones but sometimes I feel like their bass heavy. I agree with you I have the AirPods Pro as well and those are the two sets of headphones I’ve been using while on the go. Thanks for your honest review. I was waiting patiently for these headphones thinking they would be the ones I could use for everything. I think I’m going to hold off on the AirPods Max as the price tag really scares me.

Dope as usual, i have the audio technica ath m50 blue tooth though and i feel they are oftenly overlooked by people even those owning the normal m50, same quality as ath m50 plus all the smart options too and maintaining that studio quality for travelling. The airpod max are super expensive for what they are i found haha, they even more expensive than a pair of even better quality built Neumann NDH20

Thanks Henry, Merry Xmas to you and your family. 🎄❄️⛄️... I had these, I liked the overall sound but they weren’t anything spectacular so I returned them. Noise cancelling wise they weren’t any better than the Bose 700 in my home environment and actually weren’t any more convenient connecting to Apple devices wirelessly. Just my opinion having had them. Music wise you have to go much further up the price chain if you are really into your audio but I find it much nicer to listen without headphones to music. Finally I’m too old to flex so they don’t even win on that score.. 🎄great review, thank you .

Wait have you given the Morphit Auv3 from Toneboosters a go? Looks they’ll be adding the AirPods Max measurements considering they’ve measured the entire AirPods line so far.
Along with Morphit and Sonarworks Reference for the desktop, I think it allows many non-studio headphones models to be able to mix decently with.
Thank you for the review on the AirPod Max. I was wondering if they would work with music production on the iPad without latency like other Bluetooth headphones. Guess Ill just stick to wired or regular studio monitors! Thanks again bro for your video and advice!

Any thoughts on how well these would work for non-critical music production? Things like just working in Gadget or Ableton or playing an iPad synth to make a bit of music with no plans on delivering a recorded output.

You’re probably the only guy comparing the AirPod Max and Aonic 50 - which are the only two Bluetooth headphones on my list. You did a fantastic job bro 👊🏽
I just started trying the Aonic 50s and will check out the Max in a few days. I love the A50s and how clear they sound with noise cancelation set to “Normal” in the app. The Max costs over twice as much here and... doesn’t come with a cable. Long uphill battle haha.

Loved the review. About the m50x, what about its own Bluetooth adapter? I heard it works fine. Though for my editing needs, I resort to my good old MDR-7506s. They get things done and are comfy.

well you said nothing about critical things, like are they fit for video editing with zero latency while connected by analogue wire? Also, when connected by wire - do they still retain all of the signal processing, noise cancelling etc? How's the sound quality when connected by wire to iphone, since in that case the Digital to Analog conversion is done by the tiny chip inside the wire?

What’s the reasoning for recommending amateur producers combine AirPods Pro with the M50s? I always thought the M70s were better for reference because they have a flatter sound.

I have a Sony Mdr 7506 and I use a tws headset from Kuba Mali (Brazilian brand of an audiophile here) and I have considered downloading the Morphit app from TB for a flat sound, what do you think of this app? Coming soon 👌🏼 but yeah, I love mine! Everything that worked well for video with my A73 but better!!! Better AF, better colors, no record limit and I can hook up an HDMI cable and not lose eye AF. Pretty much the perfect talking head camera under $2K in my opinion.
Yo Henny! What replacement ear pads do you recommend for the AT-M50s? The stock ones ain't cutting it for me but I don't want any replacements to negatively impact sound.
Man I was really hoping these would be it for producing on Ipad Pro. I figured with the H1 chip and them being made for the eco system, they would be perfect for music production on the Ipad. Not gonna lie, I'm super salty but I trust your judgement here. You've been a hard charger in the Ipad space for a while now. Maybe I'll just have to wait a bit =(

Should I buy these ones, if I am a Video Creator who sits most of the time at home, traveling isn't that often, but it definitely happens. I need Headphones, that just work all the time, they don't get uncomfortable even if my head is really tiny.

I’d invest in Audio Technica’s especially the ATH-50x’s. They’ve never failed me even though I’ve bought them time and time again because I wore them out (every 2-3 years). Can’t go wrong

100% I have my mixing headphones for video production and critical listening and they are in the $100-$150 range. People that don't know think it's crazy because they must not be as good since they cost less. But it's just different. Sure a Lambo is expensive but if I need a good solid truck for doing some serious work why would I go and buy something just because it costs more?? Granted my AirPods Pro are probably the best everyday headphones I have ever used for convenience, sound quality, ease of use, functionality, etc. but "the best" always needs to be qualified by what the use case is. Bluetooth just isn't there for video/audio production IMO. So worried for portless iOS devices for that reason. Kills the ability to use audio interfaces/external mics/etc.

Who am I flexing to in 2020? I haven’t seen friends in 9 months!
Can the shure be used plugged in with the audio Jack with custom eq active? Please let me know. I’ve been mixing while traveling on Sony xm2’s and mixs have been pretty good when translated. Recently bought the xm4’s and they just suck for critical listening vs the xm2’s. The transient response sucks and the low mids and upper bass is muddy and sounds phased. So I want to return them and go towards something that works in the way I want. I want something I can adjust the response with a eq and also keep that response while mixing. ( I run a frequency test and flatten to my ear so everything from highs to lows south’s level to me . A slightly apparent boast at 3-4 k is ok with me because that’s where human hear is most sensitive. So I keep that in mind . Anyhow I’m looking for the proper Bluetooth ANC headphone that I can mix on wirelessly and record with plugged in and active with my customized eq. Hopefully without phased or muddy frequencies. Thanks
I really love the AirPods. The convenience features are really unmatched if you’re in the Apple eco-system. Oddly I’ve seen some producers in studio mixing on Beats. I guess it’s a matter of learning how the headphones you own sound as well.
Side note on the Audio Technica’s... If you have a large head, they are brutal with the clamping. Yes, I know this from personal experience. LOL

i just want to connect Airpods Max to my program where I make rap music, but I cant play. i think there is an problem with some setting. If someone has same problem, please let me know cause I cant find any answer. i think its a problem with MIDI setting. Apple support told me that they cant help me because airpods amx are not made for music production
