  • More tips in description... I show how I plant an orange tree successfully and this can also apply to other citrus like lemons and lime trees too.
I hope this can help those who ask how to plant an orange tree in the ground at home.
    Additional information -
    * Water in your tree after planting.
    * Early Spring is a good time to plant, but be very careful of frosts and try to plant after your last frost date.
    * I like to feed my oranges and citrus at the start of each new season with a dedicated citrus food.
    * Citrus in pots usually require more watering as the pot or container heats up in the sun. Citrus CAN grow in big pots.

Love the sound of the Kookaburras. Enjoyed watching this video. Always learning something new from you. I would have a hard time cutting off all those blossoms, but now understand why it is important to do this.

      G'day Jennifer.
Ah.... So if I have it right, you get some very low temperatures and pots will be great as they can be moved to a better area, greenhouse etc...
I do enjoy growing in pots and grow bags and being able to move them around. For me it's mainly due to frosts as that's as bad as it gets here.
We never see snow or even get close to it snowing here.
      Thanks and take care Jennifer.
      Daz.

Oh, I like these hats. I actually have another 2 as backup. 😁 But they are very important in the harsh Aussie sun.
Ugh, clay. I had heavy clay at my last property and it was so much work!
      Thanks and take care Sue.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge on how to plant and grow Orange trees and other citrus Daz! Don't remember if you've told us your height, but considering I'm 5'7"(1.72mts.), I reckon you're about my same height so...analyzing the size of that Orange baby, I'm guessing its about 24 inches tall, so if I have a Eureka lemon at the moment that's 12 inches tall, I'm thinking I should repot it in a larger pot(its planted in a 2-liter size pop bottle(pet)before I set it directly in the ground?🤔Thanks Daz will be making time to watch your Mandarin orange video as well, 👍 and wishing ya a great weekend! 😊

    • @MyAussieGardenKitchen
      @MyAussieGardenKitchen  2 роки тому +1

      G'day Joe.
If I remember correctly, you watched my mandarin video last year and I think you mentioned your grandmother's citrus? This is totally off the top of my head mate and I could be wrong.
      Yes, I'm 180cm. 👍
The lemon should be OK in the ground mate, but I would protect it from wind and the sun in summer.
Having said that, it can survive in a pot for ages, as long as the pot is big enough for the roots and you keep it watered and fed, so no rush about getting it into the ground either Joe.
      Thanks as always Joe.
I do enjoy our mini conversations so much mate. Thanks very much for hanging out with me over the last year too mate.
I do appreciate your friendship Joe.
      All the best.
      Daz.

I have been trying to grow limes and lemons in containers and I have had not so good luck. They are alive but I can’t seem to keep the ph levels down. Seems like no matter what I do it sits at 7.0

      G'day.
I'm really sorry to read that. So adding something like a liquid Sulphur has not helped?
I'm not an expert at all, but I've been more successful using it in pots than with a bush in the ground.
I just had a look online at other methods and I did just read that a good compost can drop it a little.
Good luck and all the best.
      Daz.
