    Gary from Laguna Hills nursery recommends to not put compost in the planting hole when planting any trees. What you’re basically doing is adding dead material to the hole which is one of the causes of root rot. If you must, you can mix in some multi purpose sand with your native soil to help with really bad clay soil. This is especially important for avocado trees.

      AGREED. Here’s a helpful lesson I did with Gary a few years ago that reinforces your point: ua-cam.com/video/G4OjBngOFok/v-deo.html

      Compost should be fully decomposed before mixing in. Kellogg’s bags are full of wood chunks not good.

    Thank you. I have a variety of young citrus trees and feel confident that with your (video) help I will set them up for many years of production. I bought the IV Organics whitewash just before Christmas.

    Thank you for the citrus source. They happen to have the blueberry bush I have on my list that is very hard to find. Also, as a note I have been using the 3-in-1 product. It is great and perfect for my needs.

    They don't just sell citrus, they also sell Avocado trees as well. I bought a Holiday Avocado tree from them and it was a pretty high quality specimen. The root stock was from a cloned variety that had some desired traits over some random seedling graft.

    Super helpful video! I have had great experiences with Four Winds growers too. But a couple of my citrus trees (a Marumi kumquat and an Owari Satsuma mandarin) have not thrived, and now I think I see why! Both were planted into deep holes with lots of rotting wood and other organic matter. Oopsie! Still learning about growing in California.

      That video link shares several ways to winterize a fruit tree, protecting trunk, branches & topsoil. It would help to also wrap the entire canopy keeping the tree several degrees warmer- but be cautious of the additional weight snow & rain may add (you may need to reinforce the structure to support additional weight of snow & rain). I hope this helps!

    I enjoy to watch your videos, I live in Columbia SC, and here is not a good place for citrus or another tropical trees like mangos, avocados, granadillas and so, I bought many different kind of citrus, and not luck, however I try with seeds and I succeeded with one that give me lemons, the flavor is different but I am so happy. Also y have 6 more trees than do not produce fruit, they are nice, very shine green but nothing. One thing, in the winter my yard looks horrible, my husband protect my citrus with tarps and use a Heather and so far I am ok with that as soon my citrus live, until the city comes and tell me not to use tarps for the beauty of the neighborhood, will see, the rest of the year my property is beautiful, also I had planted all kind of citrus that I bought in a nursery in my beach house, the soil is mostly sand of course, and just one tree survive, game the first year big fruit, I would said tangerines, but the following year are kind of big corrugated lemon or ugly orange. I use the IV products good an excellent results, specially with the figs trees, thank you so much for all your advice, I learn a lot from you. And let me ask you, is the IV spray is good to get rid of the white flies? And if all citrus have big thorns?. Again, thank you

      Hello Noemi 👋 Thanks for sharing your citrus growing story! People are attempting & many succeeding at growing & fruiting citrus in very cold grow zones by keeping their citrus in container & bringing them indoors during the harshest growing months of the year. Here’s a helpful article: ivorganics.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/GROWING-CITRUS-IN-CONTAINERS-TIPS-BY-ALW-4-30-21.pdf YES- IV Organic can help repel pests off your citrus: the 3-in-1 has 7 natural oils PLUS diatomaceous earth that all help keep pests at bay. Is foliar treatment in winter done after harvest?

    • @IVOrganic
      @IVOrganic  2 роки тому +1

      Hello C. Venza! You can foliar feed before and/ or after harvest. Personally, I like doing it after harvest to get the tree back on track for another bloom/ fruit set ASAP. Recommended use is up to 4x per year. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    This video came up with great timing. Today I transplanted my Bearrs Lime from FourWinds into the ground after keeping it in a pot for the past year. I have a question about its flowers. Since it is newly transplanted, would you recommend I remove all flowers this season to allow it to spend its energy on root development or will it not really make much of a different? My tree is about 40 inches tall. Thanks

      Hello Ellis, I’ve lived in Boynton Beach & Boca Raton about 10 years ago, for almost a decade. The #1 best way to improve sandy soil & retain fertilizer from leaching is MULCHING. Mulching will improve the soil condition & improve your growing successes! I hope 2022 is your BEST growing year!

    I live in Las Vegas and my Eureka does beautifully. Its been in ground for 4 years. I get at least 100 lemons every year. This past year it started flowering early and we got a freeze. Most of the leaves got damage and now it looks stressed. I plan to do nothing but do you have any tips for me?

    I find the Kellogg brand soil has a lot of plastic and wire in the mix. I also find a lot of foil looking wood. The soil just looks like dirt with wood and rocks. I do have to take out rocks. I wish the soul I buy looked like yours. I am switching to another brand.

      @@PeterSmith-xm1mq Thanks for the input. Fortunately, there are many great UA-cam channels that contain lots of good knowledge about caring for plants that DON’T include what I feel is very annoying background music. I’ll stick to those channels. Have a great day!!!
