For those on PC there are rollback instructions on Nexus.
Read them carefully and follow them to a T.
Copy the downloaded depots over your files in the Fallout 4 folder, if you are on Steam.
Remove the files beginning with cc from the data folder.
Now the most important:
Only start the game via Vortex or the Fallout 4 script extender exe file. Do NOT launch from the Steam library or even the Fallout 4 exe! Otherwise the autoupdate process will kill all your work above.
The GOG version comes with an official downgrade button.
I not touched the game since a few months, but I always played it modded, and for that reason, always launched it with F4SE, which every time launched Steam if it not running already... So I wouldn't be so sure about that advice gonna work.
Or just download the downgrade and let all that do it for you.
On XBOX 97% of mods still work!! JUST HIT DOWNLOAD MULTIPLE TIMES. IF IT BOOTS YOU BACK TO MAIN MENU, THAT MOD SPECIFICALLY IS BROKEN. TRY GETTING EACH DLC PIECE SEPARATELY FOR MODS THAT ARE ALL IN ONE.
DELETE THE FALLOUT 4 UNOFFICIAL PATCH. THATS PRETTY MUCH WHAT THE UPDATE IS ANYWAYS!!! LIKE IF THIS HELPED!!

Mods is greyed out on my Xbox series X since update. Why do you think that's happening?
For me I had to search for my mods but I could find most of them every time I favorite it, it doest go to the favorite side. And my library only shows like 4 mods not all of the one I have downloaded. I wish it would at least work like it used too and I wish I can find the mods I've been searching
All my mods still work except my Rammstein radio... Just ruined everything.

The fact that so many people didnt see this coming is hilarious. Like seriously to the people who have been doing this for awhile could put two and two together to know this was happening. The new players who just started playing because of the show i hope your mods get update so you can play them again or maybe find alternatives that do those same mods but better.

I will not update the game, too much hassle to fix/update everything for basically nothing in return (Creation Club content is just not enough to make me play this game without vital fixes/enhancements) and according to Shadow0ftheWind ( Old school modder of Fallout 4) they basically didnt change nothing for pc users. The only reason that is making me consider to eventually update is fallout London, but ill just wait to see they eventually release a compatible version with the old Fallout 4 or someone makes it compatible. They should have released this update for consoles only.
Dude, the script extender will be patched for the update. We’ll still be able to play your mods.
Though if you’re doing a modded playthrough right now, then that’s understandable.
@@samularsaber7943not necessarily, it’s likely, not 100% certain, but mods that use f4se may need updates too. In this case, some modders may not update due to not actively making mods. We can only hope that updating f4se will fix all of the mods that use it!
@@amber2751 good points. I guess I don’t really see what the big issue is as 1) I just gotten the game and
2) the only mods that I’m currently interested in that rely on the script extender are mainly cosmetic with the ammo counter for misriah armory, and the requirements for the argonian race mod.
@@samularsaber7943 yeah the same with me, finished my vanilla run and then now doing a mod run. Whilst a lot of my mods don’t rely on f4se, the ones that do enhance my game better than the update offers. I’m debating on never updating again lol
@@samularsaber7943 it’s also likely that if you use robco patcher or mod configuration menu, those will not work without a new version of the mod itself

Question
I did make the steam ID "read only". If I were to start a modded playthrough now. Would it theoretically be safe to play on that save until most, if not all of my mods have been updated and at that point allow the update to take place and then continue on that same save. Could this have some drawbacks I'm unaware of or does that sound like something that would work?
For those on steam: Settings -> Downloads -> update when i launch program. It will only update if you launch it from steam library. So launching it from F4SE doesnt trigger the update.
Thanks for the video. Question, am I correct to say that the best mods are only available on PC? I found a list that talked about the "50 best mods", but it appears that most of those mods are not on the mods list for console (I'm running the game on X Box Series X right now). I used the search engine as well and never could bring up more than one or two of the "50 best". If this is true, then I'll purchase the PC version. For an example, I saw mods on the list that added a missions/locations from other Fallout games, added creature mods, more NPCs, etc, however, when I searched for them on series X nothing came up, which led me to believe they're only available on PC. Can confirm yay or nay please and thank you.
I read that some bugs were introduced as well so we can expect at least one more update. Y'know, I bet Starfield would be a whole lot better (or at least not suck) if they just left Skyrim and Fallout 4 alone. Instead, they're spreading their employees thin for no reason.
You also have to remember that all of these gane bring them cash flow so while your complaining starfeikd may have not happen if they left them alone

I think it’s justified that people are angry at Bethesda with the way they are handling things, “starfield is a next gen game!” “ a new next gen update is coming to fallout!” There’s literally NOTHING next gen about all this lazy shit they’ve been doing and you people are the reason why they get away with feeding their players dog shit, keep gobbling it up.

I hope they fix a glaring issue ive had so far which is that the nail gun and the sawblade are either non existant in the merchant inventory and mine and when i inspect them as well as firing glaring red exclamation errors. Hopefully other xbox players I've talked with will report the issue on mass and they'll hot fix it in a minute.
I got some tests and the game still running, but got some ctd after interacting with Npcs of even npcs shooting things. Any advices ??? Im currently using some modpacks, and Im gonna update the unofficial fallout patch, I hope it help with ctds
Im on PC and run a stock game folder for my modlist. They could change the entire engine and my modlist will be fine because it runs a previous version of the game until mods are fully updated. :)
Any tips on how to check what mods are updated besides going to each individual mods page?
On PC, vortex has a check for update for all mods.
What’s next for modding? Same old. F4SE gets updated, people who don’t make mods utilizing F4SE will keep making mods, those who do will likely update their mods too.
Using a game manager, I have not found that I have any say so in downloading in the update.

I'm glad I got my copy on GOG no forced updates.
Thankfully, I set it up so that it wouldn't automatically update and I launch it from the script extender so it wont update until I let it.
I can live without the free stuff until things get sorted out.
Ps4 5 is the mod area up? I only get a cannot load popup when I try.
I set my steam app file to read only and I am so happy I did I’ve never bought creation club content despite being a patreon supporter to multiple modders
Just a fair warning, the update can and will overwrite the APPID's even if they are set to read only. Steam mentioned recently there is no way to prevent auto updates indefinitely.
As of April 2024, today, my SKSE no longer functions correctly, brings up game launcher and Steam menu. Bypassing these and relaunching SKSE only causes the game to crash.
Honestly? I just switched back to New Vegas, Fallout 4 has been crashing on me way too often when I mod it the last few times.
Some mods still work, just not the ones that require F4SE. I was going through them today, it was a bit tedious, but I found a handful that don't use them and the game is working just fine.
i just bought the game on GOG, i just don't have the pattience for rolling back versions on steam, i tried and it crashed multiple times,
but at least i have 2 fallout 4's now, the steam version i'll just use it to play fallout london and the gog to keep my modlist running, untill everything gets updated.
How do power armors work? I find one and keep it until I find another one
Theres a few different sets of power armor in the game, I personally like to build a structure in my base and when i find one, i just bring it back and store it in the structure I made. Just be aware that the fusion cores needed to power the suits don't last very long, so collect them in the world anytime you see them
Since the update I keep my fingers crossed on every mod I redownload.

I never played Fallout before nor have i modded games much.. But i wanna play Fallout 4 now. Is there any good graphics mod which overhauls how the game looks and feels..I checked nexusmods but i cant find anything that are working after the new update.. Can anyone help me out here. I should not have automatic updates for my console, nearly 70% of my mods disappeared, forcing me to do exhaustive searching in Bethesda's already abominable search engine, only for my system to now constantly freeze when attempting to play on console.
My series x update was 30gb
Anyone wondering for future updates, because they are bound to happen because new bugs have risen. You can find your manifest files within the steam apps data locations. Fallout starts with a 34. Right click and set it to Read-only, this will stop the updates indefinitely.
On Xbox all my mods are disabled and can’t install new ones at all

Being next gen update for pc I don’t believe it there’s no ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS or anything like that

@@Master-hunter2000 not all gpus use frame gen and dlss. Only nvidia gpus. Next gen can mean better performance on new hardware aswell.

Anybody that has to deal with the update its their own fault. The info about the update release and how to stop it has been talked about for awhile now. Also majority of the main played modlist on wabbaJack should be fine.

Well I'm not going to sacrifice 300+ mods just to play New London. So yeah, it is a shame. If they can't make it compatible with the original version of Fallout then I'm out. The real shame is that the New London people are changing their mod to accommodate people who don't mod their game. Makes no sense to me.

@@mastercheeseyI didn’t get shafted on ps5…all the mods I used on ps4 are working fine…the only glitch I have is the game crashes when changing mod load orders and going back to menu but the game saves the order so you can just load your save when you start the game.

I guess I expected too much from a company that created the complete disasters called Fallout 76 and Starfield. Starfield is the most boring cut-and-paste game released by any publisher in the last 5 years. I have over 4000 hours in Fallout 4 thanks to the modding community. Modders fixed many of the problems, kept the game alive, and made it far more fun than the original. So, after I download the patch - SURPRISE - none of mods work anymore. Additionally, the game kept crashing to the desktop every 20 minutes, the Next Gen graphics (if there were any) were completely underwhelming, and super wide screen mode is joke! Bethesda needs to take on the role of a publisher because their devs couldn't program their way out of a wet paper bag with an army armed with chainsaws. The Next Gen updates to both Skyrim and Fallout 4 are complete failures. I'm so disappointed they ruined the debut of Fallout London, and for what? A couple of new quests, worthless NEXT GEN graphics features, and worthless new weapons? They been working on this for nearly two years? If my devs released work of this quality, they'd be on the streets. Todd Howard as a leader, is a complete failure. He needs to go.

@@crunchberries6328 Humm - not my experience... the new quests work, but I still crash to the desktop often. I have a 34" ultrawide monitor and it looks so bad I play on my second monitor - a 28" screen. It's taken me a couple of days to finally get about half my mods to work, but it's been a long and slow process to test each mod one at a time so I know which ones work and which ones don't.

Of course the game automatically set my update status to, “Always keep my game up to date,” without my consent or approval. Of course I had the game uninstalled when the update hit so I’m basically RIP’d since you can’t download the game and not the newest version… Thanks Greedy Todd 🖕🏾🙄 All cuz 76 sucks…
