    Rusted Wrench Restoration - Tool Restoration | Mister Patina
    In this Video i‘m restoring an old rusty Wrench from „Hazet“ - i found this Wrench in my Workshop, somewhere in the last corner. When i found it, it had a lot of rust and other stuff on it. Time to restore the wrench!
    I started with a little brushing, followed by derusting it in the sandblasting cabinet, then i started the rough metal works by using a wirebrush and sanding papers in different grits. After that i fire blued it by heating the wrench up and putting it into oil. The final step was the paintjob, to give the wrench some highlights.
    If needed, i will use this tool in my upcoming Videos - so stay tuned and enjoy, i really hope you like it.
    If you have any questions or suggestions, you can write an email, i try to answer asap.

    Just found your channel today - I've inherited a couple of toolboxes full of old tools from my father recently and it seemed such a shame to let them go to waste since they are all coated in rust. I was looking to see how easy it would be to restore them. Your channel is very peaceful to watch. It looks a satisfying process and has helped inspire me to take the time and effort to have a go at this myself. Great work - especially with no narration but light humour too. Perfect. Thanks for making the effort to create and post these.

    My father used to have a textile factory and these wrenches came with the German knitting machines he had. I have a few of them. I keep one in my trunk because it fits most lug nuts on tires.

    Q: Is there a reason that you remove rust before you sandblast? Wouldn't it just be quicker to sandblast the rust off? (just starting out on this tool restoration thing....)

    A prueba de óxido si es, pero en lugar de templar esa pieza de metal, más bien perdió temple, por que para templar un metal se necesita que esté caliente al rojo vivo y después sumergirlo en el aceite, pero tú solo lo calentaste levemente y no lo suficiente.
    De cualquier forma, ahora se ve bien esa herramienta!

    This is nice as an ornamental tool. I say this because the blue colour from heating would suggest a temperature above 340°C and quenching from that temp makes the metal brittle. Please beware if using this as intended.

    @vadimmarkov5269 3 роки тому +3

    Painting of blue background is easier if you strongly dilute paint - probably twice or triple. Surface tension make it cover the whole recession. Color might be transparent, but it is easy to repeat. This technic strongly depends on paint formula, not always works

    • @vadimmarkov5269
      @vadimmarkov5269 3 роки тому +4

      And for white lettering you can take flat piece of wood, wrap it tightly by cloth and soak it by white paint, then stamp letters. This antique recipe was used long ago for embossed car license plates renewing

      Hey Teacher, that’s a good question. I would recommend, lay the tools in white vinegar for a couple of days. After that give them a nice brush with a drill wirebrush or a regular wirebrush. After that, lay them in oil for 12 hours and dry them afterwards. That should be an easy way without (many) tools :)
