  • In this video I try and start this motor. Like a kid in a toystore cant wait to check it out. I also do my one cylinder trick to kick it over for the first time with a weak starter. Running a motor without a gearcase is not recommended for more then a few minutes. But its not a problem . Believe it or not with the grearcase off it takes twice as long for the block to heat up because the exhaust hot gases exits much faster thru the midsection. Motor was barely warm to the touch at the end of this run video.

    Hey Glen that engine is running pretty darn good nice!
    Great to see the 55 in the video
    She worked good for jumping that engine. 50 degrees now that sounds nice around 38 here today not to bad.

      Hello Chris Tom Waits,LOLL! Yeah I have a brand new marine battery somewhere cant find it typical of me,HAA! The 55 needs starter solenoid or greasing doesnt engage all the time just spins up ,LOLL! Havent been drunk in years use to live in the bars at one point,HAHA! Have a short 55 video coming up soon a little weld job on the door frame stay tuned! Happy New Years To You & Family!

    Yep, 1980 and newer models were workhorses for sure. The powerheads and gearcases are rugged and rarely fail. They sure don't idle like the old ones, but that's OK. The only problem area is the cooling system, regular cooling system maintenance is required in salt water for sure.

      Yeah I think they jumped up to the 32CID from 22CID and seem to be a good move. Although I really like the light weight 22CIDS 18-25S and so does my aging back. Thanks for commenting stay tuned!
