    Love your videos Emmy! You should try making Mexican/latin cafe de olla. Its coffee that is made by boiling this crystalized brown sugar in water along with whole spices such as cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, and adding coffee grinds. Start a coffee's of the world mini-series.

    yesterday I was watching joey graceffa's video where he melted a bunch of chocolate candies together and tasted it and couldn't describe what he was tasting. He settled on the idea that it's a flavor that's never been tasted before and that's why it couldn't be described, but I think he just lacks the skills to do it 😂 I mean don't get me wrong, I'm a regular subscriber I'm not there to hate, but I just couldn't help but think "I bet emmy could do it 😒" the whole time he was struggling to describe it 😂😂😂

    Omg you’re the first person I’ve seen who’s brought up pasteurizing the egg before doing this! That’s so helpful. I also saw one person whip the egg over hot water which was cool. I’m excited to try this out. I was infatuated the moment I saw this drink. I’ve seen a receipt that uses vanilla paste as the flavor which sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing. You always have a way of making something that seems so complex, very understandable. ❤

  • @Jhud69
    @Jhud69 6 років тому +25

    My mom used to make coffee with kogel-mogel, which guess is kind of a similar concept. We eat kogel-mogel in Poland, though it's a Jewish treat. It's just eggs beated with sugar. We don't bother with pasteurizing them usually lol, sometimes it's used as a "medicine" for sore throat but mostly a cheap sweet treat.

    • @gabrielraymond8019
      @gabrielraymond8019 6 років тому +8

      Viktor Chmiel not every country needs to pasteurize eggs. If your country can keep their eggs at room temperature you don't need to pasteurize them. If you keep them refrigerated you may want to pasteurize them. It is related to the way they are made/cleaned at the farm.

    • @teridoster5840
      @teridoster5840 6 років тому +10

      Gabriel Raymond yep, it's so ridiculous in the US we can't possibly sell "dirty" eggs, so they wash off the poor egg's natural protective coating! I grew up with farm fresh eggs and it was a quite a shock when I became an adult and couldn't leave my eggs on the counter, lol

    • @LeahLaushway

    • @cloudfannotthatcloud8306
      @cloudfannotthatcloud8306 6 років тому +3

      Viktor Chmiel - In the U.S., researchers estimate that about one in 10,000 to one in 20,000 eggs will contain the salmonella microbe. It all depends on whether the hen has the microbe in its ovaries, and even then not all of its eggs will be infected. Maybe in Poland the incidence is lower or your government is more tolerant of a few cases of what we usually refer to as "food poisoning."

    • @cloudfannotthatcloud8306
      @cloudfannotthatcloud8306 6 років тому +9

      MultiHazel123 - I don't know how old you are, but the one time I got a nasty case of "food-poisoning," I was about 30 years old and spent over 12 hours vomiting or having diarrhea (or doing both at the same time), every 15-20 minutes. In between, I dozed on the cold concrete floor. If you are anything other than a healthy young adult, this can be debilitating, to say the least. Don't make it sound trivial. If it goes on for several days I am sure it can be lethal for some people.

    Em love, you should give Bulletproof coffee a try (coffee with butter). It's a big trend in Australia but I'm unsure if it's taken off elsewhere. A very interesting taste for sure, but I think the proposed health benefits may be exaggerated. Much love from down under :)

    I know it makes no sense, but I have a really hard time consuming certain things if I've watched them being made. Mayonnaise, for example, would gross me out if I made it myself. Yet I love using it on sandwiches. Likewise, I think I'd probably enjoy this coffee if someone handed it to me; but having watched it transform from egg yolks, I'm not so sure I'd be brave enough to try it!
    On the other hand, you even made crunchy bugs sound appetizing, so who knows. :P

      veryberry39 I’m the exact same way! My mind just makes me think I’m eating a whole raw egg which grosses me out enough to not make this or mayonnaise lol but if someone were to hand it to me without me seeing the egg process I’d be okay with it lol

      It depends on where you live to be honest. America is different to a lot of other countries because of the way they wash off the protective coating of their eggs (that's why they need to refrigerate their eggs)

      For immunosuppressed folk, e.g. transplant recipients, raw or any soft-cooked eggs are forbidden unless pasteurized. As I’m just recently such an individual and we love raw eggs in the Caesar salad we make, 2’ poached egg on tagliatelle al burn al tartufo Bianca, raw egg sauces etc, this is a must for us for chicken or duck eggs.

    • @spooniejusticewarrior
      @spooniejusticewarrior 5 років тому

      Pretty sure in the US they are. Not 100% on that. I do believe emmy keeps chickens though so i think her eggs are fresh and would require pasteurization.

    The amount of dangerous sciolism on display here is scary. You can't pasteurise an entire shell egg at home. It takes a patented industrial pasteurisation process to do that.
    The human body is able to deal with a few salmonella and other pathogenic bacteria without getting sick, so the point is to keep those bacteria from growing into numbers that are dangerous to humans. Since most bacteria can't multiply at low temperatures, it's best to always store eggs in the refrigerator.
    Eggs are usually protected from bacteria by their shells, as long as those are not damaged. While you don't find many bacteria inside a fresh, cooled egg, there can be copious amounts of pathogenic germs dwelling on the shell. If you don't want any bacteria to get into your food while you handle the shell eggs (crack them open etc.), submerge them in water that is heated to 162° F and keep them in there for 15 seconds, then rinse them with cold water. The temperature Emmy used is way too low to kill off anything at all.
    And don't forget to not just rinse your hands, but use soap and wash them thoroughly right after touching fresh eggs. If you follow these instructions, you can safely eat any kind of food made from refrigerated raw eggs and keep leftovers in the fridge for at least three days.

    • @sazji
      @sazji 5 років тому

      Personally I think Americans need to chill a bit when it comes to eggs. Unless we always eat our eggs completely cooked with no runny yolks, we are basically eating raw egg all the time.
