About the 6-string/7-string topic: Roman has never used a 7-string during his time in Jinjer, it has always been a 6-string, whether in their drop C or in their drop A era. He kept using Dmitriy Oksen's standard scale ESP for a while in drop A but that guitar was not designed for such a low tuning (he had to use very thick strings exactly to avoid the flappiness you mentioned), that's why he switched to OD Guitars and became one of their endorsees. The guitar he's using in the playthrough video was the first one he had them built for him (they're fully customisable) and it's the multi-scale (or fan-fretted) Venus model, that comes tuned to B standard. In 2019 he switched to a proper baritone (also from OD Guitars) and since last year he switched to Jackson.

The moral of the story is..."Jon needs to see Jinjer live"! Great triple reaction!

A suggestion for a Jinjer double.Outlander the failure color version shows a great stage performance with the studio audio recording and Roman’s OD guitar play through. This is an earlier Jinjer song around 2014

Roman is a machine. I'm happy to see you focusing on him, because his greatest strength and the reason he's so important to Jinjer, is because he's entirely selfless. He serves the song. Period. No ego, no masturbatory solos. He just does whatever he has to do to make everyone else sound amazing, which often as not involves playing a guitar part that'd normally be done by two people.

Lol could even stretch it to quadruple or quintuple with all instrument playthroughs for every jinjer banger 😂😂🤣🤣

Nice to see Roman getting some much deserved attention. The rest of the band are all spotlighted so much people tend to overlook one of the best guitar players in the business. A true riff master at work!

Yep,,,and so should also Bloodywood for exxxample with their Dana Dan -track (watch it with captions on)!! This is a true real eh statement for Everyone see reading this, so go check it out ASAP, ha.
Take this from a 54 year old dude who has been really heavily into metal and hardcore punk since 1985 and writing lotsa into local musick mags here in F-land and so on (...so this Jinjer track I heard/watched of course first time already back then 5+ years ago etcetc all that indeed in deep). ;-) :-)

Jinjer gets the sound of 3 guitars (or more) out of Roman and Eugene through tuning tricks and a backtrack. Roman plays lead and rhythm, backtracks one, then plays in drop to harmonize with Eugene, who is playing a 5 string bass to come up and do fills alongside Roman. Amazing synergy.

    • @module79l28
      @module79l28 Рік тому

Eugene has been playing a 5-string bass since he joined Jinjer, it's not like he switched from a 4-string bass to a 5-string when they became a 4-piece band. The main difference from the 5-piece band to now is that he started filling the space left by Dmitriy Oksen with things like tapping and slapping. However, and this is a funny thing, he occasionally used a 4-string bass in the european gigs when they were still playing the old drop C songs. 🙂

Love this tune and this was a great way to see it. Roman is my 4th favorite player in this band, and he's THAT good! Tells you where I stand on the rest of them. Great reaction!

What a perfect way to start your morning with a triple feature of some energetic Jinjer goodie. Thank you. More you dissect this band the more you realise there are no weak links to be found.

Your reactions are just about perfect. 👌
I had never seen Roman's playthrough of this song. It was incredible. Without detracting from his fretwork in any way, his strumming / picking is just so *phenomenal* . One of the most amazing things about Jinjer is how they manage to make complex rhythms musically pleasing *and* groovy, all at the same time. Roman's insanely great riffs and precise execution are are indispensable to that.
This song is so great that a playthrough from any of them would have been just as great, but I'm glad you picked Roman because he's just tremendously under-appreciated. I have a much greater appreciation for his work on this track having seen this video.
Hellfest 2021 is about equal to Melbourne in terms of musical performance and sound engineering, but has better lighting, camera work and stage design, plus, immediately after this song, Tatiana, in the cutest voice you can imagine, giggles and says "*that* was intense". They then go straight into Home Back, LOL. Just priceless.
BTW, in this song, the dogs represent fascists, inspired by the Ukrainian ultra-nationalist far right - tribalistic, obedient, loyal, and *bloodthirsty*. Inspired by a true story.
    Peace.✌️

i told you man, roman is absolutely amazing, his play throughs are legendary (to me at least).... dude flies ALL OVER the fretboard and it never ever feels forced... i never feel like he is showing off, look what i can do...it's always in service to the structure of the song, he is an endless riff machine.... people would have taken 4 riffs out of this song and made four songs.... he'll play an amazing riff one time as a throw away
too much talent and creativity for one person
also i still maintain my point that a lot of time his guitar work gets covered up by vocals that don't follow and muddy up the riffs... prime example is words of wisdom, i can barely listen to that song, sounds like a garage band... strip away the vocals via play through, and i legit put it on a loop in the gym for 45 minutes while i work out (for 2 weeks straight i did this before i stopped)

Yeah, good catch on the punk vibe. Jinjer started out as a punk band, and gradually evolved through heavy prog/djent, and through to jazz/metal fusion.

Man I love this band!! I'd say check out Captain Clock, the live at Resurrection Fest is fire! Or Outlander, to this day i do not understand how this song didn't break big for them
Hey got a couple of suggestions for some other bands that have currently landed on my playlist!!
    TALLAH- OVERCONFIDENCE
Got a bit but of old school metal- core sound to them, but still all their own. A singer that is one of electric & crazy talented around. Max Portnoy playing. Drums( Mike Portnoy's son
So, what are you thoughts on punk? Say, mid to late '70's Brit; Punk style. God i love this band!!!
AMYL and the SNIFFERS - SIME MUTTS CANT BE MUZZELED. Not playing pretend at this!! True road dogs that IMO, caught lighting in w bottle!! I can't take my eyes off the this woman!!!

Sorry, your guitar teacher is wrong. No amount of chord inversions or other string usage is going to get the chug of an open A under normal tension on a 68 string. Sometimes without the right equipment, you just won't get there. Roman had the guitar specially modded with a hugely filed down nut to fit those massive 14-68 strings. Side note, he's playing a 7 string in the OMV, but the song was originally recorded on one of his other 6 strings (ESP I think) before he had an OD. This is a very hard song to keep up with on guitar, I tried and gave up on this one. Roman is amazing, I'm glad you're giving him the props he deserves. This was the first album played in drop A rather than drop C and was the first one after Dmitriy left, so only had one guitar player. It was kind of a transition away from metalcore towards the more progressive heaviness they play today.
