    The story is that this song got them recognized and eventually signed by Napalm Records. Heavy hitting and aggressive but in that Jinjer style that is unique and not formulaic. That's the thing about Jinjer, besides of course Tatiana, that makes them special is that unique sound coupled with the diverse song structures, time signatures, tempo changes, etc. They keep you locked in and wanting more.

    Jinjer are one of those bands where you can see a clear progression in their development from album to album. The first album, Cloud Factory, is much more of a straightforward metalcore/groove metal sound whilst the most recent Macro is their most progressive, King of Everything is a mix between the two. As a prog fan Macro is my favourite but all 3 albums are great and the Micro EP is well worth it as well. And not long until we get a 4th album either.

    • @Neal_YouTube
      @Neal_YouTube 3 роки тому +1

      Just wanted to let you, as you seemingly don't, Cloud Factory is actually their 2nd album. Their 1st album is "Inhale Do Not Breath". You just got some new Jinjer to check out. Lucky you. :-D

    Haha my friend, I had that same feeling and still do when it comes to Jinjer, they just grabbed me musically and emotionally the very first time I heard them. First song I heard from them wasn't Pisces, it was Perennial live at Wacken open Air 2019, after watching and hearing that song/video, I said to myself, I don't know what I just saw, but I think I love her LOL 😆😆😆😆 and I've been a huge Jinjer fan ever since, so much so that I have them in my top 10 favorite metal bands ever, and I've been listening to metal for over 40 years. That's what makes it funny, I literally haven't given a shit about any band for over 25 years, I am stuck in my old school metal ways, and I'm totally fine with that. Then I heard Jinjer, by mistake actually, and I immediately fell in love with them. Everything about them I was in awe of, musically, lyrically, vocally (I never liked "growling" vocals at all, period) but Tati is just something special, so are Eugene, Roman, and Vlad, (Dmitry is the drummer in this video) They are finally getting the recognition they deserve after more then ten years in the metal game. They are just a phenomenal band, period. Anyway enough of my rambling my friend, continue to enjoy your Jinjer journey, and as always, stay Metal. 😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

    • @barefootalien
      @barefootalien 3 роки тому +4

      Ditto, dude! I mean, I listen to new _albums_ by bands I love... except Metallica, they kind of turned me off with St. Anger and their choice to come down on what I view as the wrong side of the copyright wars... but yeah, every time I check out someone genuinely new, I'm just like... "Eh... it's alright, I guess." There's some decent stuff out there, but I just don't feel like it's as iconic anymore, like metal and rock in general have kind of settled into very well-defined styles kind of defined by the greats in the 90's and early 00's, and while those greats are still innovating and amazing, a lot of the newer acts I've heard are just kind of formulaic.
      Then along came Jinjer... and man did they knock my socks off! I mean... I don't wear socks, but still. XD
      I even share your general dislike of growling and screaming... and while I've totally fallen in love with Tati's and am more okay with it in general because of her, frankly most people who do it just sound... _bad._ I can't really get into Meshuggah for example. Their lead "singer" just sounds like Kermit the Frog as a seventy-year-old drunk dying of lung cancer and all pissed off about it. It's just damn goofy-sounding. But Tati's are just gorgeous!

    Eugene Kostyuk is the bassist and he makes me think of Les Claypool of Primus, not in sound but in being super talented and creative also it takes a special band to let them shine. Jinjer is perfect for Eugene just as Primus was perfect for Les. When I think of Les Claypool I always think back to him auditioning for metalica back in the 80's and i am so happy he didnt get holed into their music as it would have been a shame not to see him become one of the all time best bass players ever. I think the same about Eugene imagine if he didnt have a band like Jinjer to let him spread his wings and show that he is in that same league.

    • @akaalexanderking

    I know what you mean about the gut feel. Jinjer and Band Maid have been the two 'emerging' bands that have promoted my greater interaction with YTube and the search and discovery for even newer bands, and eventually a review of a decade of music from a foreign perspective. They join a short list of my lifetime favourites from different genres. This track, being 5 years old is one that made me think: "So cool. Where did these guys come from?" - since then, I haven't stopped looking.

    This was a great choice of an earlier track by them, you'll notice that this is with there old drummer before Vlad joined the band. Please check out, 'Judgement (and Punishment)' both the official video (for the story) and Tatiana's one-take vocal version (for the performance), maybe do a double-header, two videos in one reaction. Albums to check out 'Micro' and 'Macro', are great places to start.

    I love Jinjer, so thank you! I just found your channel, saw that you had a bunch of Jinjer reactions, subscribed and then watched them all - I love your analysis of their songs! I'm really hoping you can resist the temptation to listen to them without reacting.
    Four of my favorites are Who Is Gonna Be The One (a great protest song), Pit of Consciousness (about struggling with mental health), Judgment and Punishment (similar to Teacher Teacher, railing against narrow mindedness) and Home Back (a powerful anti-war song very meaningful to the band since three of them left their homes in eastern Ukraine because of the war there).
    If you're willing, it may be worth doing double react videos for two of those songs: for Pit of Consciousness, the official video and then the live in Kiev/Kyiv video and for Judgement and Punishment, the official video and the video of Tatiana's one take performance. If you just pick one version of those to react to, I'd say the live in Kyiv and the one take, but either way, enjoy! 🤘

    Home back- is a fantastic video with a very impressive anti-war song, very personal. Jinjer's home town Gorlivka is in occupied by ruSSia part of Ukrainian region Donbass, and Jinjer are basically refugees, who fled after the occupation to Lviv and then moved to Kyiv. But their families are still in the occupied region, which ruSSia looted, destroyed and turned into a lawless zone of devastation and terror, with ruined economy, unemployment, curfews and the rule of criminals under control of ruSSian military. The lyrics and visuals in the video are very impressive too, even striking. It's a little masterpiece.
    It also has the most striking vocal contrast: the lowest ever growl and the sweetest jazzy-lounge fragment.

    As much as I like Jinjer, I'm not so versed in metal, so when I first heard this one, I was like, what the fuck is going on !? It was (a good kind of) chaos to my ears, but I grew accustomed to this feeling over the years with heavy music, just give it time to sink in.
    As for the albums, I was listening to Cloud factory, KOE, and Micro simultaneously (read:bingeing) and they were all equally good. Then I discovered inhale, do not breathe - which I absolutely love, older Jinjer but sooooo fun to listen to. Macro is the least preferred for me, feels samey and less melodic. Just my 2c.

    It's hard to choose an album for me. I really like all of them for different reasons. I think King of Everything is awesome. As has been pointed out, it's partly more progressive as well as partly similar to their Cloud Factory LP (more groove metal roots and I also love that LP). King of Everything has a theme; the things that rule us; focused on social issues mainly where Cloud Factory LP was focused on environmental issues.
    Then you go to Micro EP. It's more progressive. Love that one. And then I think my favorite is Macro LP. No unified theme, but they connect some of the songs back lyrically to some songs on Micro EP. It's more progressive as well. I prefer progressive music myself and love what Jinjer does. Honestly, I'm not really into listening to any other band right now. Jinjer has so much diversity in their music and changes it up a lot in songs and between songs, that no matter what mood I'm in, Jinjer fits. Just love this band. All their songs are deep lyrically. No frivolous stuff there. I just love that.
    Honestly, some of my favorite Jinjer songs are all spread out between the albums. And it's hard to even say a favorite song since I really do love them all.

    I would say the best way to listen to the albums is chronologically, but skip the fist one (Inhale, Do Not Breathe), and listen to that one last. Ie Cloud Factory, King of Everything, Micro (EP) and Macro. While the first album (or EP) isn't bad, to me it isn't at the same level as the others in terms of songwriting and production. It wasn't even available to stream until recently, so it almost felt like a demo that was hard to find. And then there's the EP before any of the members of today were in the band that's only available on UA-cam; Objects in Mirror Are Closer than They Appear.

    I would actually suggest going in roughly reverse chronological order for Jinjer albums:
    1. Micro
    2. Macro
    3. King of Everything
    4. Cloud Factory
    5. Inhale, Do Not Breathe
    Somewhere in there, I'm sure you'll love watching their Melbourne concert.
    And yeah... no need to apologize or hedge when you say that Jinjer is something truly special. Practically everyone I know or have seen reacting to them has said that at some point.
    That said, their "specialness" only reached full maturity when Vlad joined for Micro and Macro. I made the mistake of listening to King of Everything first, and it almost turned me off of them. Don't get me wrong, it's a great album! For someone who's already a fan, there's a lot of cool stuff in it, and watching their progression through the years is also very satisfying. There's literally nothing in their catalog I _dislike_ but the "special" stuff is with Vlad, so definitely start there.
    The _only_ reason I said Micro first is because the last track on Macro, "lainnereP" is a kind of inside-out and backwards version of "Perennial"... but since I think you've already heard Perennial, I guess it's not that important, so maybe start with Macro first.
