Yeah, there were a few salmon last season up that way. Hopefully they will be there again this season. I probably spend a bit too much time out there fishing...lol, come and say hello :)
Im coming to NZ in November and staying in and around Rangiora. The rver is not far and IM thinking of bring my travel kit the UK to get some / any fish on the Waimakariri. Any hints or tips to or places to go?
Seen lots of salmon up those areas last season. Seen you fishing a bit . Will say hello next time

Nice one! Good to see the river cleaning up
Yes it is.
Not a bad hit out on the river mate
Yeah thanks, it was a bit of a struggle in the beginning. Not big fish by any means, but I suppose a fish is a fish aye :)
Is this section of the waimak the locked side where you need key access?
No. Anyone can fish this river.
how far up in the waimak is that? been wanting to fish that river but have no idea of any access points?

Kahawai fishing at the Mak mouth is the best option in the summer month along with sea run brown trout. Cheers
That rainbow put up a decent fight.
Yeah, they are scrappy wee buggers for their size.
I actually managed to pull out a decent brown on my last trip which restored my faith a bit.
hi, how far up the waimak is this? Thinking of going with my fly rod...
@@piggy290 Hi, middle reaches. Thanks
