    This is from Stevie Ray's brand new podcast from Title Match Wrestling Network! Joined by co-host Matt Topolski, Stevie Ray shares yet another story none of us had ever heard before. This time it involves Vader (Leon White). During our 1st ever LIVE Q&A show on UA-cam, a fan named Supercool asked if anyone had ever tried to shoot on Stevie Ray or Booker T in the ring. Stevie Ray then shared something that made our jaws drop! Who knew that Stevie and Vader actually got into it at WCW BattleBowl 1993! The match was Stevie Ray & Charlie Norris vs Vader & Cactus Jack (aka Mick Foley). First, Stevie recalls Vader stiffing Charlie Norris in the ring...minutes later that's when the problems really started.

      But a good wrestler can cover the weaknesses of a bad wrestler. Flair did it for decades. Goldberg and Stevie Ray are an example of two bad wrestlers who couldn't cover themselves, much less each other.
      Booker covered for Stevie for years as part of Harlem Heat and when they got broken up, Booker became the most decorated WCW champion in the company's history having won 21 titles and a Triple Crown winner. Stevie just got a TV Title win (which he DIDN'T win...he got to defend it by 'power of attorney' when Booker got injured) with the belt split 3 ways between him, Chavo Guerrero, and Chris Jericho.

    At about 10 minutes into Battle Bowl 93, the following happens:
    Stevie Ray does a flying clotheslines on Cactus Jack. At first glance, it looks like Ray could be going in for the pin. This is when Vader comes it. By the time he gets in, it's clear that Ray isn't going for the pin, getting up instead notices Vader. The referee redirects Vader back out while Ray is still pissed. Vader begins to climb out, swinging his left leg first over the middle rope as Ray advances Throwing his arms up and down once enraged that Vader was in the ring. This is where Ray throws epitaphs at Vader. At this point, You can see on Vader's face this pisses him of quick, as left foot doesn't even touch the ring apron before reversing course and advancing towards Ray. Ray backs up slighting while the ref tries to break this up, but begins to move in to stand ground. Vader pushes the ref aside and swings on Ray. The two exchange blows quick shoot blows with Ray showing off some impressive bobbing and weaving boxing style while Vader swings his arms to maul him. Vader's advancement on Ray, Ray's left cross punch, and Vader going down all happens in one quick blur, but one can see it if you repeatedly pause during the play.

    • @adamfein4970
      @adamfein4970 4 роки тому +1

      @@evergreenrider I agree that that's possible. Real fights and hits can happen so fast that it you can't always clearly tell what happened. Guaranteed Ray hasn't analyzed this like us marks have, so thinking back to the heat of the moment, I can see how Ray may legit have thought he delivered a blow to Vader that put him down.
      Either way, there was clearly a misunderstanding over whether Ray was going for the pin after the clothesline on Foley, epitaphs spoken, and Vader was not having it. He clearly rushed Ray and fell forward.

    • @kpllc4209

      @@adamfein4970 They had a little scrap and Steve did land but Vader looked like he was off balance while charging forward, he popped right up like nothing happened. Norris on the other hand looked rocked by the short clothesline. Which is probably why Stevie wasn't playing with Vader. Vader looks like he is in serious pain at the end from hurting his back and Cactus Jack just gives him a pass.

    Surprisingly smart guy, and I dont mean that in a nasty way, but clearly Stevie Ray is very good at being objective about himself and his career which makes for an incredibly interesting interview.

      He isn't lying but he is exaggerating, I just went and watched it on the network and the punches looked stiff enough and vader did fall to a knee or 2. But he wasn't knocked out, certainly not to the point where he could've "finished it".

      redbuick sooooo if someone thinks he's not telling the truth they should hunt him down and be like hey bro I don't think your were telling the truth that one time.
      Are you saying dont criticise people online cuz sorry bro that's 80% of comments online.
      You wouldn't say that to his face.
      Why whould you. That's so stupid shit. That's what the comment sections for. Agree or disagree and explain your opinion.

    He shared a lot of knowledge there. So true. You never know other people's backgrounds and what they've gone through. Damnnnnn. Almost shot him? That's one crazy story. So easy to be pushed over the edge. For what it's worth; I'm glad you didn't pull that trigger.
