Bret just mad cause he couldn't draw like Hogan, Flair, or even Goldberg or HBK who he constantly bashes. Even Hunter was a bigger draw than overrated Bret.
This clip is how you know Booker T hasn't revealed his true feelings concerning his match against Triple H at Wrestlemania XIX. That felt like a true burial to me at the time when it happened, especially with how long Triple H took to pin him at the end of the match.
They did nothing wrong with not booking him to beat Triple H. Hulk Hogan was a politicking douche. He tried to sabotage Booker T's moment of becoming a World Heavyweight Champion. Such a shit comparison.
@@TheMrCC21 I disagree. Triple H was already a top heel and leader of a heel faction. He had already had several title reigns, he didn't need to be booked stronger. The angle had racial overtones too. A title reign would've been perfect to set Booker T up as a main event threat in WWE. Booker was an amazing in-ring performer at that time. Triple H could've defeated him with faction interference. The clean win with a delayed pin buried Booker. It put him in the midcard for years and when he got his title run, it was the somewhat silly King Bookah gimmick. What makes it even more foolish, is that Stone Cold was breaking down and wrestling what would be his final match on that same Wrestlemania and the Rock had already been in four films and was filming more. It was a perfect opportunity to feature Booker. I am not saying Booker needed a long run at the top, but the more people you elevate at the right time the more unpredictable the outcomes of these matches become, the more invested we become as fans. Missed opportunity.

Russo was a POS, but Bischoff was out of his mind for going along with Hogan’s little power play. Booker absolutely deserved to win that title on that night. It’s crazy that Bischoff was so subservient to Hogan even after the ratings began to freefall to the point of no return.

@@mojennith6427 From HHH's perspective, a boost to Booker's career was a threat to his own. He had to wait a long time to be on top, and Austin refused to put him over. The reason why his selfishness gets him so much more grief than others is because the product was stagnating while he kept himself on top.
He's such a sock puppet for WWE that he'll never do that. But of course it's okay and probably encouraged by WWE themselves to trash anything WCW related.

That really sums up WCW back then. I was a loyal WCW guy at the time so I was getting the PPV anyway. Imagine how bad things had to be to think having Booker T win his first world title & his fans that didn't buy the PPV don't get to see it because he wasn't advertised to wrestle for the belt was a good idea. How the hell most of the people who knew including Booker didn't ask why wouldn't we promote the match instead of somehow throwing it in unadvertised is nuts. I'm surprised Booker is so pissed at Hogan when Booker vs Hogan means way more $$ down the road than Booker wins unadvertised at the Bash at the Beach. He would've made more money than he's ever had in his life. What a mess they were & I watched that stuff religiously. Was actually happy that night but I was under the impression it was spur of the moment. Hearing Book knew days in advance is just more proof of what a shitshow that place was at the time
It wasn't a worked shoot at all, and honest ppl know it. It was a full shoot. Sharmell said that Russo's words weren't in the script. Nobody in the back had any idea why Russo went off script. The reality is that he went into business for himself. Russo tried to play the "i was speaking in character" excuse, but nobody calls somebody a "piece of [expletive]" in a promo unless they're speaking from the heart.
No he didn't win The Judge threw it out. Why would Sharmell know about any of that. If it were real his mic would have been cut. Hogan would've came out & beat his ass. So there's a word for people that think that was real it's mark
The only two things I give VR credit for are making Booker and Steiner champions. Booker 100% deserved it and probably long before that. He put the work in for a decade at that point. I am glad he got his deserved recognition. He is beloved by everyone. It sucks to see the pain in his eyes when he talks about this.
He didn't lose to a black guy though. What happened was in storyline, Russo had Jarrett lay down in the ring for hogan to pin him immediately. Russo threw the belt in the ring and told Hogan to take it. So Hogan pins Jarrett, but then decides to "walk out" of WCW and in doing so surrenders the belt. Russo then says Jarrett is the world champion, then sets up an impromptu match between Jarrett and Booker T, which Booker T won.
Unfortunately, I think Booker was in the crossfire between Bischoff and Russo. I don't think it was anything personal against Booker but I can understand his frustrations.
You gotta remember that early in Hogan's career he faced Harley Race & Nick Bockwinkle & they never came off the title for him. A similar thing happened in Japan where he was the 1st NJPW Heavyweight Champion but it's not recognized because they want Inoki to be the man. I'm playing Devil's Advocate here but I think Hulk Hogan learned very early on in his career that once he got power that the only way to play this game was to make sure that you kept getting titles and to stay on top and that the belt was not a work. He saw everyone else keeping themselves in the title picture and that the closer they were to the title picture the more money they made. When he saw he had the chance to do that wherever he went he made sure that he never let that power go. The old school world taught him that. So he exercised creative control. Now creative control may not have been a contractual term before Hulk Hogan came around, because before Hulk Hogan everyone else owned the company or was the booker of the company themselves so they were always able to just simply put the title on themselves. Times were a lot different in the 1970s and before. But then again I'm not telling you anything you don't already know ;)
1. There have been 3 versions of the IWGP championship that have existed, 4 if you want to include the IWGP 3rd belt. 2. Hulk Hogan was OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED as the first ever IWGP Heavyweight Champion. That version of the title doesn’t exist anymore. 3. When selected to be the first IWGP champion Antonio Inoki (The founder of NJPW) was in power of NJPW. 4. Stop creating lies.
Agreed! I also still don't understand why Kevin Nash had to beat Goldberg. Just made no sense at that time! The egos in WCW were out of control! Also, Vince Russo should have never been allowed in there!
The crowd went nuts when Nash beat Goldberg and he didn't beat him clean. The Wolfpack was extremely popular. What was stupid was the Fingerpoke of Doom.
I see bookers point it was 2000 and it was time to put the belt on the younger stars and Hogan probably should have put the card away and agreed to the plan..

Russo always blames Hogan. The issue of Russo saying that Hogan did not want to lose to Jeff Jarrett, as if Jeff Jarrett was bringing money and ratings to WCW, as if Jeff Jarrett was the answer to Austin and Rock at the time! I don't blame Hogan if he wants to win. Jeff was at the Main Event the entire time of Russo and all of his ideas did not work, so why does he put the blame on Hogan? I wonder why Booker T puts the blame on Hogan and they talk as if everything was fine until Hogan decided to win against Jeff. Hogan was losing to everyone like Kidman, Vampiro, The Wall, and others. He agreed with all the losing decisions. And yet they say that he only thinks about himself??? He lost to everyone and Russo's plans did not succeed, so why are they surprised that he wants to win over Jeff ? The decision for Hogan to win over Jeff Jarrett was before the decision for Booker to win over Jeff. But Booker T speaks as if the decision from the beginning was for him to wrestle Jeff, as if the original main event for Bash at the Beach was a Jeff vs. Booker T match, as if Hogan tried to get Booker out of the match, and this of course is all untrue. The original decision a month or so ago was for Hogan to win over Jeff. When Hogan challenged Kidman at the Great American Bash, he told him that if I beat you, Kidman, I would wrestle the champion at Bash at the Beach. This was all the original decision from the beginning. Therefore, Booker T has no right to speak as if Hulk tried to steal his moment by winning the title, the decision of which came late behind Hogan’s back.
Hogan has messed up a lot of people Of Push. Zeus. Curt Henning. Bad News Allen. Randy Savage. Bret Hart. Sting. Chris Benoit. Kidman. Eddie Guerrero. So many people he screwed over
I always like hulk as a kid but when I was getting older I always wondered why he always won the ppv matches. Watching these stories about how it was behind the scenes. Makes you feel different how feel about the person
To Booker T and to the Hogan hating Dave meltzer readers out there, Hogan just wanted to know what was next from Russo, and russo had nothing next for Hogan, Hogan had no clue booker T was winning the championship because the plan was for Hogan to leave with the belt and then there was supposed to be tournament with 2 heels and then hogan was supposed to come back at Halloween havoc.
The people most right about EB/Hulk/WCW's downfall are Bret and Flair and they've been called bitter and everything but EB has fooled us all to lead us believe he is not the biggest carny in wrestling history who played with his toy box, then when Hulk came Hulk just took over while EB watched.
I was watching all of the Nitro's and Thunder's on Peacock, but i just stopped watching right before Bash at the Beach 2000. I got fed up with how remedial Russo and Bischoff made WCW look under their control. For example the character named "The Wall" was ridiculous. They made this random looking average Joe out to be a monster. Oh, and the WCW hardcore division was a comedy act with Norman Smiley.
I got fed up too but the wrestlers who was there tried, they really did but the writing and the matches was just so so so bad. Bischoff wanted a status quo with the old always getting their way which sucked and Russo, even though he had faith with the rising talent, (I'll give him that ONE, only one) he wanted to make the show crazy and mindless with stupid gimmick matches, constant heel/face turns, and even stupider "in your face" booking decisons which was WORSE than bischoff. Eric and Russo heading over Creative was like Bad vs Evil fighting over who was the worst at their job.
People always talk about what hulk Hogan meant to the wrestling industry .my question is what did he actually mean to the wrestling industry when he has a history of screwing over other wrestlers
I’m a booker fan, but like all of us capitalists, hogan was about more money for him. He wanted the title that night, and a storyline where he comes back at a ppv months later and basically says I’m the real world champ and if you think you can take out the king, come see me in a ppv main event. And then have another ppv main event after that. There is no retirement pension in pro wrestling so get all you can get when you can. Hogan was prolly in the screen actors guild at the time so he probably had health care and some smaller pension at the time. But still like most of us would have been at the time, hogan wanted to keep getting 6 figure payoffs for one nights work based off long term storytelling.
For all the movies he made, the actor's guild gave him a retirement pension, much like they did with Jessie, and cared for his medical needs. Hogan's problem was not coming to grips with the fact that his time in the ring was done; his heel turn gave him that shot in the arm longer than it should, but I say around 97-98 people were done with Hollywood Hogan, and the NWO and instead of being the veteran to pass the torch and help lead the younger guys he tried everything and anything to stay at the top. Once guys like Chris Jericho appeared in the WWF, WCW's death clock was ticking...
Do not act as if Hogan's decision to win was a mistake and as if everything else was fine. Hogan did not steal Booker T's moment. Because the original plan was, since Hulk won over Kidman at the Great American Bash, that if he beat Kidman, he would fight the world champion at Bash at the Beach, and the decision for Booker to win did not come until a day or two before Bash at the Beach. The match announced a month ago was Hulk Hogan vs. Jeff, not Booker T vs. Jeff. Hogan didn't steal his moment in the first place. In addition, what did the belt do to Booker T? He lost the belt to Russo lol.

3. When selected to be the first IWGP champion Antonio Inoki (The founder of NJPW) was in power of NJPW.

Isnt Booker quoted as saying he saw his Tna time as a vacation and didnt put any real effort, just wanted to work on his acting skills. Basically looking out for himself and what he wanted, not what would help the company.
I stopped watching WCW regularly after the fingerpoke of doom. I found out Book won the WCW title flipping through the channels on Nitro.
Booker T loves to troll his audience
well were you there
His match was against Kanyon that night which he lost. The belt wasn’t chosen to be put on him till maybe a hour before it happened
@@thesupervisor3270he clearly just said he knew 2-3 days before the event so what the hell are you even talking bout?? Guess ur hearing is impaired 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
@@BMoney04 he also said he found out 12 minutes prior in every interview, Booker is trolling you
Which episode of dark side of wrestling is that on ?
Hulk Hogan used WCW as a platform to further his own career. He didn't care about the company or the other talent.
@@themobseat so did every one else. It's a cutthroat biz.
I’d swap Hogan for Booker any day of the week. “We coming for you ….”
Hogan has messed up a lot of people Of Push. Zeus. Curt Henning. Bad News Allen. Randy Savage. Bret Hart. Sting. Chris Benoit. Kidman. Eddie Guerrero. So many people he screwed over
LOL Zeus? Come on, if there is anybody who should never have been in a wrestling ring, it was Deebo.
@@jd9119 Zeus was supposed to win the title from Hogan at WrestleMania 6
Jake the Snake was a huge screw job by the hulkster
@@BlessedKingLou Thank God Warrior saved us from that.
Don't forget pretending that the Undertaker broke his neck to get the belt back!
I always like hulk as a kid but when I was getting older I always wondered why he always won the ppv matches. Watching these stories about how it was behind the scenes. Makes you feel different how feel about the person
Righteous rage!!
That's Bischoff's version. And even Hogan's version doesn't sound like Bischoff's version. It sounds closer to Russo's.
Best thing is Bischoff will definitely respond to this 😊
The people most right about EB/Hulk/WCW's downfall are Bret and Flair and they've been called bitter and everything but EB has fooled us all to lead us believe he is not the biggest carny in wrestling history who played with his toy box, then when Hulk came Hulk just took over while EB watched.
Yeah I think we all have done that 😆 I always start in 95 and stop by 00
All 2000 was mostly Vince Russo before Eric came back to WCW
Norman Smiley was one of the few highlights bro
Smiley made the hardcore division watchable him and terry funk IMO the one good thing russo can take credit for
People always talk about what hulk Hogan meant to the wrestling industry .my question is what did he actually mean to the wrestling industry when he has a history of screwing over other wrestlers
7:26 Can anyone clarify what he means by “don’t like what they represent…” ??
Hogan tried to sabotage many careers due to his maniacal ego...
i been a big booker T fan since Harlem heat I have fond memories of him in my childhood.
Another Hogan apologists I guess he didn't screw Sting,Brett, Undertaker,Macho,Jake,JYD,ETC
@@vincentgarrett6764 Jake said that Vince is the one who canceled everything, don't lie. Jake doesn't deserve any chance. Jim Cornette gave him the belt in his company, Smoky Mountain, and Jake didn't respect that. He was absent from matches and didn't defend his belt. Don't defend someone who didn't appreciate that he was given the belt and was absent.
@@vincentgarrett6764 dont put it on Hogan . All the wrestlers have their own agenda and problems. Shawn Michaels refused to lose to Steve Austin, Hogan, and Vader and his problem with Tito Santana and the Rock . Bret Hart refused to lose to Undertaker in Bahrain and to The Mountie and bully Disco Inferno. Bret Hart buried The Mountie. Notice he never lost cleanly when he became the face of the company except in front of his family members (Owen Hart and Davey Boy). Warrior almost buried Hunter and his problem with Rick Rude and Andre the Giant He hit Bobby Heenan on his injured neck and did not apologize to him. . Randy Savage does not know who is his friend and who is his enemy. He attacked Hogan in his interview in 1993, and when he decided to leave the WWF, he called Hogan to help him join WCW. He then appeared on the radio praising Hulk Hogan and saying that he was his friend in 1994. Even his brother Lanny Poffo realizes that Savage is not normal. Lanny said that Savage told him that Hogan slept with Elizabeth. But Savage's behavior when he asked Eric to bring Elizabeth to WCW and take care of her is proof that Savage lied and wronged Hogan. If Elizabeth was sleeping with Hogan, Savage would never have forgiven her or thought of helping her in WCW. Also Savage's story with journalist Bill Apter is a disaster in itself. Undertaker was bullying the Jobbers He admitted that he bullied them in the Hall of Fame. and buried Diamond Dallas Page, Chris Kanyon and others, He hated the late legendary boxer Muhammad Ali because he did not go to war in Vietnam and kill innocent people there and He wore a blue American flag shirt ( Blue Lives Matter ) . It emerged in 2014 in direct opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement . and rene dupree said that he ordered the rest of the wrestlers to throw the flag of his country France in the toilet. He tried to make Koko B. Ware look like he was exaggerating when he was hurt by the Tombstone, although it was clear and strong and Koko did not exaggerate. He broke the Japanese flag and threw it in Yokozuna's coffin at the Survivor Series 1994. and you are talking here as if all of these are angels and nobles. Review their pasts before taking their words. Roddy Piper, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall all confessed and said that the reason for their problems with Hogan was because they were jealous of him, and they did not hide it, but rather confessed like men. Even Steve Austin admitted that the reason for his bad relationship with Hogan in the past was because he was not happy with Hogan coming to WCW. But he confessed as a man and did not lie or claim that Hulk Hogan buried him. Unlike the rest of them who hate him because they are jealous of
@@vincentgarrett6764 Sting didn't respect the script and build-up that was prepared for him for his match with Hogan. They made him look strong for about 14 months. When the match came, he wasn't physically or mentally ready, and Sting admitted that he was using drugs at that time, which is forbidden. Sting wasn't a professional at that time, unfortunately. That's why Hogan handled the situation differently. Although Hogan could have decided who won and who lost, and he could have beaten Sting, he still didn't beat Sting. Bruce Prichard once commented and said that if Sting had done the same thing in WWE, Vince McMahon would have made Sting lose. So be fair and don't be biased towards Sting. and .people need to understand kid that Grabbing the Tights During a pinfall attempt is illegal . you can see Hollywood Hulk Hogan Grabbing Sting's tights .Which means that Hulk Hogan did Not Win clean after all . even when Nick patrick botch the Fast 3 count finish . which means that Hogan wants to make sure that Sting DOES Not lose clean. There is no other explanation for this. Hulk Hogan is truly a professional. But the likes of Dave Meltzer and some of the اhogan hatres will Never Understand the ART of Wrestling . Hogan did it again in their Rematch on Nitro and when the replay was played on Thunder you can hear Bobby "The Brain" Heenan say ( Hogan Grabbing the Tights .) And by the way. Bret Hart in a new interview, mentioned that he confronted Nick Patrick after the Hogan/sting match and said to him, ““Aren’t you supposed to Do a Fast count ?” and Nick Patrick replied, “Yes, but I forgot to do A fast count ” This is evidence of Hogan's innocence and that the real liars here are Hogan's haters
Booker was in Buffalo NY my wife was at Denny's with her best friend eating and seen him. He sat and talked to them at the bar area. She called me and he talked to me on the phone to prove it was really him because I was a big fan. He's always been one of my favorite wrestlers. He's awesome I doubt any wrestler would have given the time of day.
Why does everyone hate Dark Side of the Ring so much?
it's a great show! It is capturing history before even more wretlers pass away without their stories being told.
Triple H kind of did the same thing to Booker during his run
Your mad at hulk Hogan but not HHH for making a racist remark and you Lost at WrestleMania
He told you personally that he wasn’t disappointed in HHH also? When and where did he say HHH wasn’t as bad as Hogan?
Who are you to tell someone where put there anger
To be fair, he said he wasn't upset about that.
WWE and Triple K writes his checks. WCW, Hogan, and Bischoff are the current punching bags.
