I'm really excited for more Dune content, and this series especially, but I'm worried that the writers will draw too heavily from BH&KJA's expanded universe to fill in the blanks Frank Herbert chose to leave unfilled. Many of the prequels' changes to the backstory and lore of the Imperium were...disappointing, to put it extremely mildly.
I don’t think it’s far fetched to get big actors in this show. It’s a streaming show and HBO got big actors for Game of Thrones so it’s definitely possible that they get some big name actors.
I'll keep my expectations low, but I hope it's good. I'm not sure what the plot will be tho; seems to me like there's plenty possibilities that would be more interesting than following the Bene Gesserit manipulating from the shadows. But if it's about the Misionaria Protectiva and how they set the prophecy on Arrakis it can be interesting.

This is as you might understand a very deep and complex subject. So I will try and give you a concise definition. Understand there are other perspectives. This is my take, and the one I feel is behind some of Herberts writing. The "Water of Life" is symbolic for a liquid/steam product created by yogic discipline. It is the sexual fluid moving upwards and inwards through the spinal column, as it passes through the gastric fires it is purified into a steam like substance. This continues upwards until it saturates the brain and nervous system, finally settling down inside the bone marrow. Transforming the human entirely from their animal nature to one that is divine. I'd love to see as guest writers on the show some of the present day Science fiction and fantasy greats like Neil Gaiman, Brandon Sanderson, NK Jemisin, Neal Stephenson, and Arkady Martine. If the Orville could get Charlize Theron, an a-list top tier actor, there's no reason others wouldn't follow suit. I'd love to see classically trained theater actors in the roles. Herbert often wrote in Shakespearean-like speech and lyricism. He purposefully even watched the syllables and meter of his prose to match the same oratory style. He did this in part to give that aristocratic feel and the other because he knew it was proven to stay in the memory longer. I think theater actors tend to understand this better because they've trained in how to express it for today's audiences. If we get a full series, I'm mostly hoping unlike some of the other shows the verbal fencing and intellectual repartee is in the show. Kind of like how the best interpretations of Jane Austen use that language. The audience is held to higher expectations of exercising their thinking and analytical faculties which Herbert relished. Also to put into dialog his constant koans and tangential slashes. To really do this would be impressive. Imagine a show mass produced for American audiences like that. Though The Sisterhood aims for the globe. So I'm not worried about known stars but rather giving talented actors like with Star Trek the Next Gen when it was a massive success a chance. I miss the days of watching talented actors perform who didn't all have the same slick factory feel and look. One of the things I enjoyed about Game of Thrones as well. Compared to say as enjoyable as many find the shows, CW DC series or Disney anything practically.
If I remember correctly Bene Gesserit young acolytes in training were described in the BH/KJA novels as wearing white with either purple or scarlet trim. I don't suppose there will be any mention of the last of the Sorceresses that pre-date the Bene Gesserit and who were wiped out by the first emperor. I like your casting choices but I could see some of the strong actresses from The Expanse series playing parts such as Cara Gee, Dominique Tipper, Shoreh Aghdashloo and Frankie Adams. On the male side Keon Alexander, Wes Chatham and Chad L. Coleman could be good choices.

I love that we’ve had such great TV and film come out that staying within these casting spheres, like Game of Thrones with Lena Headey and Natalie Dormer, is less like retreading old steps and more like exciting new avenues for these actresses. I would be over the moon for Tilda Swinton to be involved; it would elevate the show to a tier that it deserves.

Romania has a significant Romani population -referred to as Gypsy by the book shown- and its striking architecture -Transylvania anyone? Right next to Wallachia!- seems to have inspired the BG Mother School sketches you have shared.
This is a weird era of film and TV. Its like studios increasingly don't care about employing passionate, competent people to tell stories in writers rooms, so I really hope this turns out great and leaves out hamfisted real world politics out.

I am worried that too much will be changed or clumsily adapted. No, the Harkonnen sisters Valya and Tula DO NOT establish the sisterhood - it is Raquella Berto-Anirul, an Atreides, who does. The story is set about 80 years after the Butlerian Jihad and the Sisterhood is established by her on Rossak, a jungle planet replete with actual sorceresses which are involved in the sisterhood, in an abandoned cliff city. The big bad is Manford Torondo, a deplorable anti-technology fanatic who weaponizes his cult-followers to spread destruction. The Hogwarts-style abbey worries me as it is by no means accurate. Accused of using computers on Rossak (which a faction of the sisterhood does, in secret), the Rossak school is decimated by the Emperor, prompted by the Bene Gesserit's anti-technology Butlerian faction (Dorotea, the empror's Truthsayer) and Manford Torondo forcing a faction of the sisterhood under Berto-Anirul to relocate to Wallach IX with the help of Aurelius Venport, a frozen world with a blue-white sun. 1) I would love to see Palestinian actor Saleh Bakri as a Fremen warrior or French-Algerian actor Fu'ad Ait Aattou or Italian actor Giulio Berruti. All are very handsome, rugged and have striking blue eyes and wild curly hair!! Very Fremen! Even, Uber-famous Burmese male model/hearthrob Paing Takhon has a real Bruce Lee Asian mega-star vibe. I think he has huge potential. 2) I would also love to see the utterly stunning French-Eurasian actress Mylene Jampanoi as an older Bene Gesserit. She has that Eva Green type sex appeal and mysterious/exotic allure. 3) Kazakh model/actress Aya Shalkar as the teenage girl. She is so beautiful! 4) Actors Evan Evagora, Frank Dillane, Felix Mallard as the teenage boy. Have a feeling most of the casting is going to be black actors though...Hollywood has been really going hell for leather for that in almost every show or film now. Half of every cast is now Black! Other ethnicities exist also ppl...🙄😠😤 Oh, & Ozark actor Jason Butler-Harner as a main villain. He reminds me a lot of the Dune actor David Dastmalchian who played Piter De Vries. Agreed, more MENA representation would be fantastic. Sofia Boutella was a standout in Atomic Blonde and Hotel Artemis and could be a powerhouse for this series.
For the Fremen, but not anywhere else. Most of the Dune universe is not from Arrakis, and certainly the Bene Gesserit did not develop there. If anything, they exported their order/culture to Arrakis. It makes no sense to have the original founders be MENA.

I can choose one who can be in the Dune series is, Kate Blanchette.. She looks perfect in other movies that she look like a Bene Gesserit in Thor: Ragnarok and Lord Of The Rings trilogy, she sound very intents and her voice always gets low how she talks very makes a loud Nosie. For me, It was my depends for her.
That's true. The thing with this though is that they could actually film in locations used by Game of Thrones and the look based on the concept art is medieval like that show. Dune has often been described as Game of Thrones in space. While other shows try to grasp the popularity or epic nature of the show, they often have no similarity or connection to it, not even in the same genre or style. I think this show would have a much better claim to the phrase.

Indira Varma, could play a great Benne Gesserit sister. She has that exotic looks, that the sisterhood needs, but she is in the Obi Wan Kenobi series. There´s Leonor Varela, a chilean actress who plays a vampiress in Blade II, long ago. Now, she may play a mature Reverend Mother. But, if they want to sucseed, they had to hire ladies from AHS, cause they play such a terrific witches in their show, specially Angela Basset.
As long as it is based on and extrapolated from canon Dune, and not the add on garbage from Brian and Kevin. So many friends of mine getting into Dune that have to be guided away from the ruinous rubbish that those two wrote.

You need someone involved who respects and understands the source material. But unfortunately ppl will be hired who dont really understand the dune world. It'll be ppl banging the feminist drum in a woke method. It'll be a turn off. The source material is strong enough to stand on its own without 2022 views imposed on it.
I hope this show will have some depth, but it being based on brian books is not a good start. I fear it will be a painful disappointment, just like foundation.
Perhaps he saw the appeal of it in terms of how by the book it is, a guide to living life especially among the Fremen who need a regimented guide/lifestyle to surviving in the desert. But he also read a lot of history books and came across Islam frequently.

I think Herbert delved into Middle Eastern and Islamic culture to create the world of Arrakis and the Fremen. The rest of the universe wouldn't be influenced by that and it's certainly not something in his son's books. Not sure what Islam and the Upanishads would have to do with the Bene Gesserit school from Biran Herbert's books. Rossak is not a desert planet by any stretch, nor is Corrino. Vorian Atreides goes to Arrakis, but that's it and it's a sub plot. If they're following the books at all, the Bene Gesserit export their order to Arrakis, not the other way around. If anything, their culture would influence the Fremen. As for the idea that there should be more MENA representation in the Bene Gesserit origin story, it's ridiculous. MENA cast only makes sense for the Fremen or Zensunni characters, who are not yet part of the burgeoning BG story. Raquella Berto-Anuril is an Atreides, and none of the founding sisters are from Arrakis.
The influences go way beyond Arrakis and the Fremen although that is where the primary influences are. Not only do the Bene Gesserit have to know those Islamic influences which are among the Fremen to "plant the seeds" of their missionaria protectiva on Arrakis, but they are also used among the Bene Gesserit too who are likely linked to places like Egypt (Misr) because The Azhar Book is a Bene Gesserit compilation of religious and bibliographic information and it comes from the Islamic School Al-Azhar in Egypt.
Diving into the missionaria protectiva and breeding program in this series would really help a mainstream audience understand what's going on in Dune.

Yes, a big influence was Lesley Blanch's Sabres of Paradise as I mentioned in the video which has Kanly in it.

1) I would love to see Palestinian actor Saleh Bakri as a Fremen warrior or French-Algerian actor Fu'ad Ait Aattou or Italian actor Giulio Berruti. All are very handsome, rugged and have striking blue eyes and wild curly hair!! Very Fremen! Even, Uber-famous Burmese male model/hearthrob Paing Takhon has a real Bruce Lee Asian mega-star vibe. I think he has huge potential.
2) I would also love to see the utterly stunning French-Eurasian actress Mylene Jampanoi as an older Bene Gesserit. She has that Eva Green type sex appeal and mysterious/exotic allure.
3) Kazakh model/actress Aya Shalkar as the teenage girl. She is so beautiful!
4) Actors Evan Evagora, Frank Dillane, Felix Mallard as the teenage boy.
Have a feeling most of the casting is going to be black actors though...Hollywood has been really going hell for leather for that in almost every show or film now. Half of every cast is now Black! Other ethnicities exist also ppl...🙄😠😤
Oh, & Ozark actor Jason Butler-Harner as a main villain. He reminds me a lot of the Dune actor David Dastmalchian who played Piter De Vries. He is very intense/sinister/Machiavellian. Fabulous actor! Needs to be a more major roles!!

For the Fremen, but not anywhere else. Most of the Dune universe is not from Arrakis, and certainly the Bene Gesserit did not develop there. If anything, they exported their order/culture to Arrakis. It makes no sense to have the original founders be MENA.

it could be really good. One reference for the producers would be Motherland: Fort Salem, which was about secret agent witches. Sisterhood needs to be better than that.
I can't wait to see the series of '' DUNE: Sisterhood " on HBO or HBO max certainly. And I know It's strangely tough that famous are quite expensive but they have to choose a right Actress to be in the Dune: Sisterhood series. I can choose one who can be in the Dune series is, Kate Blanchette.. She looks perfect in other movies that she look like a Bene Gesserit in Thor: Ragnarok and Lord Of The Rings trilogy, she sound very intents and her voice always gets low how she talks very makes a loud Nosie. For me, It was my depends for her.

That's true. The thing with this though is that they could actually film in locations used by Game of Thrones and the look based on the concept art is medieval like that show. Dune has often been described as Game of Thrones in space. While other shows try to grasp the popularity or epic nature of the show, they often have no similarity or connection to it, not even in the same genre or style. I think this show would have a much better claim to the phrase.

Indira Varma, could play a great Benne Gesserit sister. She has that exotic looks, that the sisterhood needs, but she is in the Obi Wan Kenobi series. There´s Leonor Varela, a chilean actress who plays a vampiress in Blade II, long ago. Now, she may play a mature Reverend Mother. But, if they want to sucseed, they had to hire ladies from AHS, cause they play such a terrific witches in their show, specially Angela Basset.

You need someone involved who respects and understands the source material. But unfortunately ppl will be hired who dont really understand the dune world. It'll be ppl banging the feminist drum in a woke method. It'll be a turn off. The source material is strong enough to stand on its own without 2022 views imposed on it.
I hope this show will have some depth, but it being based on brian books is not a good start. I fear it will be a painful disappointment, just like foundation.
I don't get Frankie's obsession on Islam.
Perhaps he saw the appeal of it in terms of how by the book it is, a guide to living life especially among the Fremen who need a regimented guide/lifestyle to surviving in the desert. But he also read a lot of history books and came across Islam frequently.

I think Herbert delved into Middle Eastern and Islamic culture to create the world of Arrakis and the Fremen. The rest of the universe wouldn't be influenced by that and it's certainly not something in his son's books. Not sure what Islam and the Upanishads would have to do with the Bene Gesserit school from Biran Herbert's books. Rossak is not a desert planet by any stretch, nor is Corrino. Vorian Atreides goes to Arrakis, but that's it and it's a sub plot. If they're following the books at all, the Bene Gesserit export their order to Arrakis, not the other way around. If anything, their culture would influence the Fremen.
As for the idea that there should be more MENA representation in the Bene Gesserit origin story, it's ridiculous. MENA cast only makes sense for the Fremen or Zensunni characters, who are not yet part of the burgeoning BG story. Raquella Berto-Anuril is an Atreides, and none of the founding sisters are from Arrakis.
The influences go way beyond Arrakis and the Fremen although that is where the primary influences are. Not only do the Bene Gesserit have to know those Islamic influences which are among the Fremen to "plant the seeds" of their missionaria protectiva on Arrakis, but they are also used among the Bene Gesserit too who are likely linked to places like Egypt (Misr) because The Azhar Book is a Bene Gesserit compilation of religious and bibliographic information and it comes from the Islamic School Al-Azhar in Egypt.
Please be good and fit the original author's vision.
