Don’t be ashamed to show this. Most of us are here because we just discovered ours looks like that. In fact, mine was MUCH worse! Thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks for sharing this. I was looking for one of the videos you linked (replacing the boot seal), which I thank you for providing. I watched how you cleaned this washer, and I honestly had no idea that the bottom drain needed to be cleaned. It was pretty yucky to do after a couple years, but so easy. I'm really grateful for this. And thank you for showing me how to clean the washer. Again, something we've never even thought about doing.
I have to do this after every load or else my future load will stink. I was wondering if it is a balance issue. The service center sent a kid that had no clue why I have to do it every wash. Great video, a lot of folks do not read the manual or miss how to clean the filter trap. I have pets, so it’s a must.
Good video👍 Made me go check mine.....door seal looks perfect .... But I never knew about that filter down below😮 Had to go look...and sure enough it was there! Thanks!
Every time I try to drain with the tube no water comes out, then I take out the filter and it's a flood! My gasket is not moldy because we never shut the door but the little holes in it are plugged so I think it needs to come out to clean. Bummer. Thanks for the vid.
That is mold embedded in the gasket. Pour bleach and mix with baking soda, apply the paste and leave for at least 24 to 48 hours. Wipe, rinse and most of it should be gone. I wish I had space for a top loading washer, I hate these front loaders for this exact reason.
So, that’s definitely mold on the seal :/ You should definitely look into use Clorox bathroom cleaner non-bleach it’. It’s amazing at removing mold just let it sit for about 10 minutes and use a sponge to scrub it. Also, one thing I found that makes this happen fast is adding too much detergent as well as using softener. Softener being the biggest culprit since it likes to coagulate, but also leaves a film
I would fix it, but 15 years is a good run from a washer. Might be cheaper in the long run, hydro wise.. to buy a new more efficient one. We bought this house 2 years ago, been waiting for the washer/dryer to shit the bed.. but they just wont die.

Try taking out your dispenser tray and clean it too. There’s a ton of soap scum build up in there
Good video👍

Super useful! we’ve had our LG for 7ish years and I had no idea there was a filter to clean 😳
So helpful. I'm ashamed I only thought to do maintenance when my gf complained it stank of mildew!

Ugh, softener is slippery.
I once mixed bleach and clr. I had to evacuate the bathroom for an hour with the fan on.
Seems wrong, but we need to keep the front load washer doors open after washes until dried out. That seal is too far gone-- mold is embedded in vinyl.
Love your speaking voice!
Thank you for posting this, very helpful!
Ouch...thx for the advice
That’s why I’ll never buy a front loading washer.
I like it but it holds water and starts to smell; best thing to do is keep the door open and let it dry out.
front loader uses approx. 14 gallons per wash, top loader used about 40 gallons

New "efficient"ones will break.
Nasty try leaving your washer door open when not in use so it doesn't get mildew
Thanks for good tips I am calling a plumber to replace it
OMG LG should know better, it got so dirty.
Lol that’s mold. Take the thing off and soak it in clorox and it will come off
