Happy Halloween everyone! This is the second video about this years "Pumpkin project". If you missed it, you can watch the first video here: ua-cam.com/video/f8b0_9cx76U/v-deo.html and see photos of the finished costume here: angelacostumery.com/2020/10/31/a-taffeta-turn-of-the-century-gown-the-pumpkin-project-2020-photos/
(I spent like 4 hours editing my green hair brown in those photos so please give them some love for that alone, lol!)
I hope you all have a nice day!!
Lol
Happy Halloween! This is gorgeous!!!
I think green hair would have been Halloween appropriate, but you did good editing. 😀
"As all professionals do, I sulked about it for several days..." deeply relatable! Not a professional but my mum is and this is a feeling we've often shared.
'And I hated it." Me about every project before it gets to the point where I'm not doing all the mockups. It turned out so beautiful! I love your pumpkin projects every year!
"I sulked about it for several days." Oh you make me laugh! Thanks for sharing the realities of the trials and errors of sewing. We can all appreciate the challenge of trying to salvage things that have been so disappointing.
Hi Angela! I've been watching for a while, and since you love ruffles so much, I thought I'd pass along a tip I picked up when researching ballet tutus....
Instead of using a strait stitch, and then pulling, try using a zig-zag stitch over a fishing line. Fishing line usually has at least 25lb weight strength, so you can use it on just about any weight of fabric. The ruffles can be arranged as desired, and then when they are stitched in place, you pull out the fishing line, which slides out easily because its plastic!
Hope you find this useful!
I saw the same to with tooth floss. It helped make my daughter's civil war costume this year!
I was taught to do this with upholstery thread!
Ohhhh not Angela but I am taking notes! Thanks
I doo this too!! You can also use dental floss in a pinch haha
Fantastic tip. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas.
Awesome! As much as I love embellishments I often don't really like sewing them on. Always astounding how much patience you have with sewing them all on. I have heavy beading envies here.
Okay I would totally watch a series called 'Ruffle Queen' as long as Angela is the star with Guin as her co-star!!!
Forget about Ruffle Queen. I’m thinking Beading Queen. Brilliant work and gorgeous outfit.
For machine gathering, I don't back-stitch one end. This way you can more easily gather from both ends, and have to tug less. Also, for added insurance, I take the time to make three rows of basting stitches. It's just as easy to pull on three bobbin threads as two, and you can do heavier fabrics than what you mentioned.
I do the same!
Beading/Sequining onto a *dotted* fabric! Why had I never thought of this?
Angela, I've been following you since your tumblr blog days and seriously you always amaze me with every project. The detail you put into this blouse and skirt is incredible, all that hand beading! You are seriously talented, a pleasure to listen to and it's a joy to watch your creations come together.
The orange beads around the yoke is perfection and gives the blouse that extra pop 🎃
It's so beautiful! Those sleeves are a wonder, and I am always in awe of your beadwork!
You are now not only the ruffle queen but the beading queen as well. You bead girl!❤
The amount of detail, time and patience put into this.. girl, you are simply amazing and unreal. I look up to you and hope I will be at least half as talented one day :)))
i absolutely love our comments on your videos, the light snarkiness makes me laugh every time so thanks for that. The outfit looks GORGEOUS and I wish I was a skilled as you are in sewing. Happy Halloween :D
You have got to be the world’s most patient person- all that jazzing up!
Your beading is SUBLIME, and the bodice is amazing, but I had to LOL at the "I only had enough fabric for X, but I decided that was a 'Later Me' problem. So. Familiar.
Angela, this is just the most fantastic outfit, you look like a page out of a vintage magazine.
Stunning. I love how you embellish with beads. It really elevates it and makes it special.
There's some pictures where the light shines on the tafetta under the overlay and it's just beautiful how all the gathering and ruffles show up. I think sunset pictures would've brought more details up.
This is stunning. You have certainly gone above and beyond on this .I love the extra decoration you added with the orange beads near the ruffle ,this really makes this pop, and those beautiful bows you sewed one under the puff are beautiful I think the added beads finished them perfectly..When I watch these dresses being made I often think of the women who made their own gowns all those years ago. They would have collected buttons and pieces of pretty lace for perhaps one day they would add to a dress.Yet now we think nothing about clothes, they get damaged we just throw them away..Sad really how much wast there is in clothing now..You did a great job and I found it quite funny when you were sewing the looks on..I learnt how to do those when I was about 13..My sewing days go back a long time and I was taught all the methods you use to make your dresses too 😀
Your 1890’s walking ensemble is my favorite thing you’ve done so far, but this is a very close second... every detail is ::chef’s kiss::
I almost cried when you gave in and had to take it apart. So relatable!
I only sew in my mind - and badly at that! But I find your work and voice-over so entertaining, I can't not watch! You are the pumpkin queen for sure
I really enjoyed seeing the beadwork build and build (and build). I love this Pumpkin Project!
I watch one of your videos everyday, usually while I’m hand sewing .. I started sewing my own clothes 3 months ago, and I can’t believe how much I progressed since my first garment. I learned so much watching your tutorials. I usually don’t comment but I just wanted to say Thank you for your hard work!! u r great !!
I always struggle to accessorize projects...and then i see how eazy it comes to you...how do you come up with all this????...it's beautiful.
So well done and love the bits of hindsight. It's a comfort knowing that someone with your skill level is still learning. Thank you!
I really admire your dedication to hand sewing techniques - I am awful about doing it but, at times, it’s a must. Kudos for the passion for to that and the beautiful beading!
Every time I thought “OK, now it’s finished” you added another embellishment! Seriously delightful
You are becoming legend in your sewing skills and videos. Where and how do you store all of these creations?
It is stunning, I love the beading it really sets off the whole gown. Well done. 👏🏻
What a gorgeous dress! And holy smokes! That was a fantastical amount of work you did with all the sequins, beads, seed beads, lace, ruffles, and so forth. The result was clearly worth it.
I love your sense of humor! I have learned a lot from watching your videos, and really appreciate your irreverent attitude and sarcastic quips.
Do you ever just wear those outfits around the house lol? This is a masterpiece
I would watch the heck out of Ruffle Queen tho
Angela's sense of humor is awesome. As much of I love to see her talents in sewing, I almost think I enjoy her witty comments even more!
Wow! Your level of creativity is through the roof! I loved all the little details you put into this costume. Quite the masterpiece!
I love your videos. I laugh often. I am glad you decided to take out the black underlay. All of the changes and hard work made for a fantastic result that brought the two pieces together! Love it!
Angela, your time and hard work, designing paid off, the skirt and blouse are over the top! I began watching you from the beginning and seen mock speed growth in your development and what you have accomplished, beautiful gorgeous garments, you have much to be proud. You belong in your own Paris couture atelier. This Halloween garment is especially beautiful. Thank you so much for every moment of your blogs as your share your progress from beginning.
I love your videos, there's something about you showing how not everything goes to plan, and that you redid things, that is soooo real :D
This is so gorgeous and vibrant! You outdo yourself every time, I think this is my new favorite of this series.
Happy Halloween! This whole outfit is gorgeous! I love all the embellishments, ruffles, and the enormous, puffy sleeves.
I love the tassels hanging down the sleeves !
Wow!! Another stunning creation. Your patience and tenacity is so admirable.
It's great you enjoyed the creative flow of this project, and it was wonderful to watch. You deserve to feel proud of this project and thank you for the light you bring to the world by sharing.
oh my goodness, i just LOVE LOVE LOVE this whole outfit so much. the bodice is just awesome!!!!!
The time you take into these is very appreciated. It's gorgeous.
What beautiful beading!! Incredible workmanship!
Oh, that blouse is beautiful! You look so striking in it, too. You make the most beautiful clothing...I’m a little in awe of your sheer talent, as well as your skill. Be well, and have a joyous week.
The bead work is my favorite part of the blouse. So unique and beautiful.
Its stunning. The amount of work you put into it is phenomenal.
An amazing effort that you put into this outfit. It is truly fabulous, especially the beading, Thankyou for sharing this with us. x
This is breathtaking, and SO much meticulous work! What a gorgeous blouse! And the photos over at your blog are so fabulous, even though you felt sick at the time - the makeup look and wig matched perfectly. Love this year's pumpkin project so much!
I would much rather watch Ruffle Queen than Tiger King! XD
It's somehow sounds like simultaneously more and less drama...
Much preferred, either way.
Me too. I didn’t even watch Tiger King but I would watch Ruffle Queen.
springchick19 me, too! No interest whatsoever in Tiger King, but happily here. Would and do watch the shit out of the Ruffle Queen.

I love all the details you put in your gorgeous creations!! Beautiful dress!!! Happy Halloween!🎃🎃🎃
Amazing garments. So much work but it turned out beautifully. I love it.
Yup! Love the whole thing!! Gorgeous!
What a lovely set! My favourite part are the tassels at the elbow; they add such a whimsical touch.
Lovely! They look wonderful together and I can only hope to make a garment this beautiful one day!
absolutely stunning!! your embellishments are always next-level, i wish i had an eye like yours
Gorgeous results and love the progress and commentary!

This dress is so much lusciousness! 🎃🎃🎃 You did an amazing job. Thank you for the video.
This is so beautiful ❤️ all of the beading 🤩
I absolutely Love your work. I always look forward to when you post. And I'm so happy the virus hasn't stopped your hard work.
Beautiful colors and fabrics used in such a great way! Honestly wished this video was up earlier cause i did a simular sleeve and i see where ive failed on mine but imma fix it now that i know whats up! I JUST ADORE THE SKULL DETAILS AND THE BEADING MAKES ME WANT TO BEADAZZLE MY THINGS MORE
That beading!! Amazing work.
Love all the Embellishments and beading!
Ooh yes, this is the epic Halloween fashion I'm here for!
It’s so gorgeous!! I LOVE it!! 🖤🧡🖤
Got you on in the workshop, love this outfit. Really suits you, just a triumph.
Really gorgeous design and details!
I love love love this project. I hope it won't ruin your enjoyment when I say I made a couple of blouses and a dress with bodices like your bodice. The sleeves on mine were puffy all the way down the arm rather than fitted. But hey, it was during the 80's. Of course, mine didn't have sequins, beads or embellishments. I love the ruffles. You make so many beautiful historical garments, do you ever have a chance to wear them? I was thinking that you might enjoy attending Costume College when things start up again. Many thanks for all you do. You are an amazing woman.
Stunning!!! My favorite pumpkin patch dress yet!
amazing!!! I love the look of the layers and all the beading is insane haha
that dress is amazing. well done you.
This came out very lovely.
Gorgeous! Happy Halloween!!
Your talent astounds me! Amazing :)
