That's a common problem, Air coming out of gas tank when opening cap
it mean the gas vapor trapped inside the gas tank and the Evap Canister Purge Valve Solenoid not opening to release the vapor in to the intake manifold
in todays video i will show you how to Remove Evap Canister Purge Valve Solenoid and then How to test/clean Evap Canister Purge Valve Solenoid to see if its opening or not
and also cleaning Evap Canister Purge Valve Solenoid with mass air flow sensor cleaner so we dont damage the valve

Important for every RAV4 owner
I thank the video maker for this wonderful work. I had a very serious accident
I was driving the car and suddenly I heard an explosion from the front. I quickly opened the hood and found that the black air box was on fire. I dealt with the situation and everything ended.
I went to several mechanics to understand why this happened and none of them could give me a convincing answer
But after this video, I realized that my valve was open and there was too much gasoline, so the explosion occurred
Problem with this video is, when engine off, vapor is supposed to go to charcoal cannister to absorb fumes, NOT into intake manifold. Normal operation with engine off, no power to Purge, Purge is CLOSED. Also, the valve at the charcoal cannister is the VENT valve, not a purge valve.
A Vent solenoid is a normally open solenoid that closes when energized and seals the system when the EVAP monitor is running a leak test.
Trouble refueling means vent valve is not opening.
I like the way you talk. Simple I appreciate it thanks
Thanks Amy appreciate that
amazing video!
my honda crv does that pressure-release sound every time i open the tank and i thought it was normal until this video, tomorrow it will be cleaned!
thanks a lot!
Glad it helped
My Crv is doing the same, did this fix it?
This is what my RV is doing. When I open the gas cap it has a lot of air. Then it chugs and backfires after filling with gas. I'm going to find my evap solenoid and do this! Thank you!
Unless before 1996 doesn't require them
Did you figure it out? My car won't start after filling gas. Eventually it will start, then stall out, until I do it like 10 times then it starts and eventually drives fine.
@@aznnp77I have the exact same thing happening did you figure out a fix?
@@isaiahstark8713Purge valve. The one under the hood, next to the throttle body, not the cannister one.
Great video and amazing explanation.
You were just showing us how to fix this problem, but your purge solenoid was working fine, because it was closed when not activated by the ECU, right ?
Thanks, yes exactly, it will open it when the pressure is high
Well done....
No acting...thank you !!
thanks
do i only need to clean or change a new Evap Canister Purge Valve Solenoid? Or do i need to change the Canister under the fuel tank ? mine doesnt have any warning lights on , only gas air from the gas tank....... Thanks.
Same here. Did you find a solution?
@@powerblaze2udid u find the solution? Same problem with me
@@booyaka3632 Gave it to a professional who fixed it. Never had the problem since then.
if your car is more than 10 y.o., change your valve solenoid if it's not functioning.
Proper thinking CAR mind. Thanks a ton to your mind blowing PASSION👏😊
Thanks a ton
Nice tutorial Bro
Glad you liked it!
thank you for this video.. very well explained and fixed my 4runner
Thanks for watching
was your idle running rough due to this?
@@nicolasmartinez8015i have the same question.
Very useful information bro 👌
Thanks for watching
Amazing video! Very informative
Glad you think so!
Super informative, Ali. Thank you.👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this info.
My pleasure!
There is no Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner here where I live but there is SensorKleen(TM) Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. Is it the same? Thanks
Thanks for the video. Exactly what I needed.
Glad it helped!
Very good advice 👌 thank you
Thank you friend. I'm having this problem on my Mazda 3, it's stuck open. Hopefully 🤞🏼this works. I'm going through gas like nothing. I'll let you know friend, thanks again.✌🏼
Hope it will, thanks for watching
I have crv throttle body cleaner, is it OK use?!
Great video explanation. . Thanks. Im deleting my evap junk box.
Oh Man i love you 👌🙌 this was so helpful🙏👋👏💪✌️✌️✌️
Glad it helped!
Thank you brother. My corolla's gas tank is always opposite it's vacuuming, I think it should be like that am I right?
Check the vent valve and the evap purge
Thank you man
No problem
I'm having this problem with a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer. Main symptom is it stops accelerating suddenly and more often when it's hot outside. I open the gas cap and it makes that exact noise you showed. I didn't know this might be the problem and I tried everything! I replaced accelerator pedal, TPS sensor, camshaft position sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors. Damn... Hopefully I will fix my problem replacing that purge valve. I'm buying it ASAP.
Pls keep us updated
@@humoody I will.
@@felipemunoz4177Does that worked? And You tried replacing the fuel cap??
@@RajeshSingh-rt4rx yeah, I replaced the fuel cap but that didn't solve the problem. Also, I did a test run using a loose fuel cap, so the vapor could escape from the tank since it wasn't tight. The problem remains. I am waiting for my purge valve to arrive to change it and test. Honestly this is driving me nuts, I don't know what else to test since my car doesn't even show any error codes.
@@felipemunoz4177 No error codes? Man then That's a problem
Top demais! Obrigado!

Will this help if while pumping gas the gas is leaking out. I also have air come out when taking gas cap off
What is the symptoms when the purge valve is stuck closed ??
Thanks for sharing ❤
You are so welcome
Wait. So if it does the pheuusss is bad?
I've got a brand new Corolla Hatchback and it does that sound and it eliminate gases when I open it.
Thank you soo much idid it on my rav4 2016
Awesome
Thank you so much ❤
Any time!
Is it same as
Valve Assy, Vacuum Switching,
New information... thanks brother
Thanks for turning in brother
I have a p2450 Evap system switching valve performance stuck open ?
This would cause the engine to get very rough for a while after shutting it down then restarting it after a few minutes after you fill the gas tank? My Explorer does this all the time after fill ups but no check engine light is on.
Yes, you will have a hard staring eveytime filling up the gas
@@AliMECH Is has a charcoal cannister under the hood near the radiator with vacuum hoses etc. I saw the part online but did not look for it on the vehicle yet. The online part has two lines for vacuum hoses and an electrical connector & that's all it has.
@@AliMECH Ordered it on e bay for 44 bucks brand new. The one in there is rusted & 30 years old! After fill ups when you shut it off then turn it back on it rumbles, shakes etc. & you have to give it gas for a few seconds to get it to calm down & it's been doing it for years!
Love his videos
Thanks
My Toyota handbook says you may hear hissing when opening fuel cap. So I assume it's normal. It's probably slightly lower pressure in the fuel tank because I feel the cap is being sucked and I cannot smell any fuel.
lol i dont have this pshhhh when open fuel cap but have check engine p0442 , solenoid under hood new and solenoid on tank new but old canister ? should i change canister ?
Great job! Thanks!
Thank you too!
if the is released from gas tank when opening is this mean that the valve is stuck closed?
Amazing as usual
Thanks Amjad
best one ... thx
Thanks
Thank you
You're welcome
I have no check engine light...but i have much air when open fuel tank cap... what is your opinion?
Thanks a lot.
Glad to help
Thanks
Welcome
so is it good or bad to here the air release when you take off the gas cap to fill up your tank? that whoooosh sound
If that pressure Valve shown in the video does not function you will have problems starting your car eventually cause Vacuum is being build up in your system. Both gas tank cap and valve should work properly. My Toyota Auris is already having a symptoms of negative pressure in the tank. I have hard time starting sometimes and as soon I open the tank cap it goes away. It can eventually lead to loosing power while driving.
Just try changing your gas cap...it has an built in pressure valve. Take the cap off and look inside...you should able to see in the middle a small hole and maybe some spring.
@@The_Touring_Jedi question can this cause idle issue? Cause I have idling issue with my prelude
@The_Touring_Jedi I changed my cap to an original part and the tank vacuumed so much it cracked in half. Now I'm on UA-cam trying to figure it out
@@michaelduran2711did you get it sorted. Idle issues are can also fuel pump or more common is Fuel control regulator (FCR or SCV=Suction Control Valve
If I open the petrol tank cap in the morning before starting the car, should I not experience fuel vapor pressure if the charcoal canister is working properly?
Are you able to tell me where’s that part on a 2017 f150 eco boost ?
Is there any danger if air comes out when opening fuel cap
Hi, my fiat doblo turbo diesel, when i open the cap, out a big air Blow, but the diesel engine havent this system, its normal that air Blow? Or there Is a problem?
My car is new and doing this that crazy
Hello I have an Audi TFsi I changed the N80 and I still have the same problem p0441 and when I open the fuel cap there is a pshit I don't have a canister on the car and neither escape, do you have another idea?
My 91 Honda Civic has a rough idle when I get to half a tank. Can this be causing the problem ? I already put in new fuel pump. Thanks
How can i check my evaporator sensor on this same car
Problem is it is NOT showing the 3rd vacuum line going to the Purge on Fords, all the way to 2008. Not the bigger diameter plastic line carrying the fumes into the manifold, the small diameter plastic line the supplies vacuum from throttle body to the purge valve.
Not one so-called expert has answered this, though on one site the author said it was needed for a Ford Purge to operate.
I had a big vacuum leak/P0171 mechanic knocked the line off at the TB, I found it/fixed it. I had ZERO EVAP-related codes during the 2 weeks the vacuum line was disconnected, so what exactly is this vacuum line for? During the time it was off, I had all the usual things a vacuum leak would exhibit. Fuel trims way too high, high idle, then low rough idle, stalling, and low downstream O2 sensor readings. Also the P0171 would come back after I cleared it.
Thank you sir
Muy bien y más que es toyota saludos de sinaloa compa

I thought when you remove your gas cap . That there should be a pressure releasing " sound " , meaning it is sealing properly . And that any and all emissions valves are working . When I remove my gas cap on 2020 Toyota Camry , there is no presssure released , no sound .
The purge valve has nothing to do with hissing at the gas cap. The purge valve, located somewhere on top of the engine, operates via the computer and opens when the engine is hot and vacuums the EVAP canister tank clean of gas vapors stored in the charcoal. This valve shuts off when the engine is shut off. This valve also is used with the computer runs an EVAP leak test. When that happens the computer closes the purge valve and the canister tank valve and then judges if there is a leak in the system. If you have a bad purge valve you will get a check engine light and a code if you have an OBII reader.
My car (manual transmission) suddenly stops accelerating only in hot weather, and the hissing is present also only in hot weather. I've got no error codes, so my problem is possibly not my purge valve?
when ever I open gas tank filling cap. I see pressure of gas accumulated. I also checked evap purge valve, it remain closed and does not open when engine get warmed.
my question is . can this be the reason for rough idling? I donot have any misfire, but seems lack of power in acceleration a little bit
Hook power up to it bench tested should be close with no power but it doesn't mean when the car is hot or vibration can still make it malfunction
I have this in Lexus IS250 and sometimes it gives me engine light vsc and so on.. When. I put fuel in or at a period of time. Also when I open the cap it always makes that sound and I'm quite scare tho.
My problem is that I don't have these cables you have to open it outside the car
when i fill the fuel tank for my opel corsa c ,the fuel pump of petrol station is stucking a lot of times. Is this happening because of this purge valve or something else?
When I remove my fuel cap, I do not get a whoosh of air but there are lot of black particles being deposited. Is this carbon? Does it have to do with the EVAP system?
Change your tank cap. That's it.
2010 Dodge Journey SXT 3.5 got a code p0452 fuel tank pressure sensor low when I fill my tank up check engine light turns off then my fuel gauge drops check engine light comes back on
Hi, I have a 2004 Honda Jazz/Fitt having an issue kindly suggest me some possible solutions please. When ever I start the car I can hear a water splashing underneath the driver seat and realised that splash/air noise is from fuel tank upon doing OBD diagnostic the error’s “(P0443) EVAP
Canister Purge Valve Circuit
Malfunction” so I replaced the unit and clear the error code, So now there’s no error code in diagnostic but that splash/ air blowing noise is still coming underneath the driver seat possible from inside the fuel tank.
Can anyone share best opinion/suggestions ???
My Toyota celica just started this yesterday
Where is Canister position in Toyota Echo 2002 ?
What kinda tester is that? I cant find one

how to check /clean and or replace?
Nach der Reinigung würde ich es mit Ballistol zur Schmierung einsprühen.

My diesel tank sounds like this, what can I do????
Thats a 3d diagram of my engine the 1uzfe or the intake manifold just looks exactly like mine 😂😂😂
😅😅 really
During travelling, when I try to accelerate my car, it loses taking acceleration
❤
I replaced the whole thing it is still hissing
what if still the problem ... i guess the tank here not letting some air out ...
Both of mine is close
That's not my problem. There's a blocked line from the tank to the charcoal canister.
