Learning to dress well in style and match your clothing is not an immediate thing a persons learn. You learn to figure out these things over time and a long time just dressing yourself and learning from your feedback loop of what works or not and why.
My favorite outfit right now is a granite colored henley, dark navy blue jeans, V cut burgundy color sweater, service boots, and a clean, simple brown leather jacket.
I tried a green shawl collar sweater, dark gray casual dress pants and brown casual dress shoes Saturday night for sushi. I felt great in the outfit. I like the green sweater because of my big red beard. I’ve worn the sweater with blue jeans, dark brown boots and a brown flat cap too.
As a truck driver I always did the Canadian tuxedo thing. For layering I'd do a vest or vest sweater under the denim jacket and a Barbour outer for the rough weather. When constantly traveling I had the smallest combination to deal with the greatest number of weather combinations that I could encounter.
Never thought there'd be doubts about jeans & sweaters. I wear them normally to the office in winter and colder months along some nice shoes or boots. Great advices to look even better, as usual!
Spot-on advice with regard to sweater fit. I bought a beautiful "final sale" heavy cashmere sweater online recently in my size (medium). I'm a slim-fit build and this sweater is so boxy that it looks terrible on me. I'm going to send it to my more chunky nephew in hopes that it will fit him better.
As far as wearing denim of the same color, if you have a particular brand of denim that you wear, that is consinstant with thier dyes, you can actually have whole denim outfots that match perfectly. I for one wear a lot of Levi's, I have black pants, jacket, and overshirt that are all a perfect match.
Dark jeans a fine knit (roll) turtleneck, sports jacket/ Pea coat and Chelsea boots are my go to outfit. They will take you from workshop to boardroom to restaurant
A big challenge for me is finding sweaters that fit correctly. (Of course, that's true for almost anything I wear.) I'm a relatively thing guy with long arms, so the sweaters are usually off in the neck, shoulders, and/or sleeve length. I just ordered a new sweater (a smaller size of a brand I've previously tried), and hopefully it will fit well in all three areas. The only sweater that can be tucked in: a turtleneck, particularly the thinner ones. Even then, it's optional.
Try americantall or 2tall. I was in the same boat as you. Tall, slim, love sweaters, live in a cold place, but it’s hard to find slim fit and tall sizing in sweaters. Those 2 webshops have a decent selection. In fact, some were too long and too skinny, never had that before! Also, surprising got a Dale of Norway sweater from my wife, that fits great. Not even a tall size.
This guy is a legend. Instead of promoting some modern fashion bullshit. He sticks with classic, and still teaches you how to look unique but sophisticated.
Clothes on the tags state the fit (relaxed fit, standard fit, lose fit, regular fit) match the FIT….also I’ve always worn Hanks Belts as I’m a CCW permit holder.
To your point about ironing jeans, In my opinion, one should iron or steam everything except underwear and socks. Of course you don't need to put a crease in your jeans, but they should not be wrinkled. You cannot iron out the natural whiskering in the jeans but you can take the sloppiness out, so don't worry about destroying their character. In addition, when you take the time to iron or steam your clothes, you are also inspecting them for any damage or dirt. Just my opinion, not a rule. One more thing, If you are in good shape, you can also tuck in your thin sweaters if you like. Heck, I change that, what ever shape you are in, tuck in your thin sweater if you want. (My opinion, not a rule) I enjoy your channel.
Wonderful how you fit so much content in each vid. IMHO, nothing wrong with buying most sweaters at Men's Warehouse, J A Banks, etc., and saving to spend more $ on sport coats and blazers + alterations.
I have a question for you. I have been trying to apply a lot of the dress code advice you provide. One of the items I a rather aware of is to dress age appropriately. I will be 70 yrs old soon and I do like to dress up denims. I have some very nice Thursday boots that I want to wear with my denims. Is folding/rolling up denims okay for someone my age? Note that I am quite active, 5'10" tall and have a slim build. I have been told that I don't look my age. I don't want to appear that I am trying to look young again. I have no problem with my age but just want to dress appropriately.
I match that description exactly except that I'm 2 inches shorter. I usually wear slim fit jeans with Red Wing Iron Rangers or similar, and I cuff the jeans about level with the tops of the boots. It looks pretty grown-up in my opinion. Under-25s in the London area are more likely to be seen in jogging bottoms and trainers.
As a taller and slightly heavier built bloke I'll prefer to go for a thinner sweater and with a t shirt underneath anf and crew neck sweater with a a pair of straight cut jeans to balance things out .
A couple of things: 1. One can wear denim jackets with jeans, but the color has to be significantly different. For instance, with my blue jeans, I have a couple of denim jackets I could wear, one black and one camel. Just avoid the Canadian tuxedo. 2. A sweater and pea coat can look good. An off-white submariner sweater, worn with a navy peacoat, is a classic combination, inspired by the actual wear of sailors in inclement weather. Just be sure to pair it with a navy watch cap.
@@edennis8578 Eh, I suppose some could see it that way. I was thinking of the practicality of the watch cap in bad weather. Sometimes function trumps other considerations.
I'd say no jean jacket/pants. My favorite sweater is a maroon pullover with a zipper just like the one Antonio is wearing in this video. I wear a mid wash denim jacket over and pair with black or olive chinos and brown boots. It's one of my top 5 outfits for sure
Always wondered why you guys say sweater & we say jumper? A bit like you wear "pants" under your trousers. And if riding your Harley in winter here in England you definitely tuck your jumper into you kevlar jeans.
The video has a picture of a gray sweater & blue jeans with a red "X" next to it along side of the same sweater in green with a green check mark next it. What's the difference & why is the gray sweater wrong?
In my opinion, wearing ripped jeans with a sweater looks good if the sweater is on the casual side. A nice oversized shawl collared cardigan over a T-shirt is a nice casual look. I think it works best if you're going for that bohemian style look. Jeans with a sweater. It's simply a classic look.
@@kingyellowman5762 Simple answer, it's because people like the look. Sometimes when the weather is in the 50s and I have to run to the store I'll simply toss on my cardigan instead of a light jacket and run down to the store.
I have some dressy sweaters that i love to wear, and fit great, but when i try to layer it with a shirt underneath, it feels like the button up underneath adds to much bulk under the sweater.. maybe im just not used to it? Or perhaps i need to try on more sweathers with the button ups underneath to make sure the fit is right (and perhaps i havent found it yet).
hey antonio! Ive gotten started on my new style journey about 1-2 months ago, and now that I have been getting some nicer sweaters (both bigger/bulky and thinner sweaters), ive ran into a problem. I feel like the rolled up sleeves look looks great on me, and i feel like a million bucks as you put it. But after that, my sleeves get all stretched out and dont look that great anymore when theyre not rolled up. Is this something i should be worried about? Should i just accept that my sleeves will never look the same? Would greatly appreciate a response, ty so much for all your content. Cheers from Portugal!
The sleeves should revert to normal when the sweaters are washed or dry cleaned. I don't put my washable sweaters in a dryer, but I hang dry them. At that point, if they still look stretched out, you can shape the cuffs as they dry to smoosh the knit back into shape.
thanks antonio , for ur question , i once wore a blue tweed sports suit or blazer with grey sweater light weaved and a light blue button down with blue to dark blue jeans and a grey belt and grey full grain chukkas , was that ok ?
Hi, need some help I am 54 YO, 5 feet 8 inches, have a wheatish complexion & am marginally healthy around the waist Would a Dark Blue / Black GAP full sleeve sweatshirt go well with a light blue baggy jeans worn with a pair of black / blue low top Converse shoes ?

Lmaoooo @ that last combination. I'm not a sweater specialist so I'm not gonna tell you how to pull that off. But I'm in great shape and even then I wouldn't try to pull that all off. Maybe with a regular shirt at most
You mention at 1:13 how skinny jeans aren’t right for most. I’m a muscular guy who bodybuilds. And I kinda like showing off my legs. Is that stylistically okay?
hey Antonio ,. so im thinking, i know this is an old vid, im trying to catch up,. back tracking while hitting on new,. so: can you do a vid as im a very young looking 49 year old guy so, its a bit,. odd, trying to look like im taken seriously for my actual years while most still think im 30 even in a uniform or basic suit,. thus, my age isnt dictated by clothing.. id like to ask,. so can you do a vid on the tuck in and not tuck in for shirt types and when to and not to,. inc sweaters hmmm, polo : im guessing this is a nono? also,. phone cases and wallets,. what types and should they match? now we have rif and barely anyone uses actual cash though i do if im buying shoes or a haircut or clothing or watch, idk it feels a bit more like i bought it and own it,. using a card, feels, like someone else payed. As a teenager you might look cool in skinny jeans but when over 25 or above 30 as a young man you start looking ridiculous in it and when you over 40 it becomes an abomination lol

I don't understand why the uncomfortable running shoes from the 1970s are being sold as stylish sneakers? Yes, they are simpler in appearance, but they are also "simple" in terms of comfort and related technology. It seems to me like a kind of scam that we are falling into.

Former NBA star Tim Duncan was the anti-style guy. Most players came to the arena sharply dressed, but Duncan just threw on whatever was comfortable for him. People made jokes, but he didn't care. Russell Westbrook is kinda the same way.
Now, you've got that sweater you absolutely love that you bought when you were a large, but now you're definitely a medium busy teetering on a small. Yeah, I've got the talent and tools to make them slimmer, but they're just too long. Is it better to hope your rich uncle passes and leaves you something so you can start from scratch or is there any hope for that fave other than Goodwill?

really not sure about this advice... have you seen what is currently being sold, and you dont even mention it. Oversize !!! Everything is made to look bigger than it is. I wear skinny/slim jeans with oversized hoodies and knitwear, and it looks great. And i wear lighter blue washed denim with any colour tops and it works, so i dont agree with colour choices of denim either. Turtlenecks??!!? Roll necks.... ummmmm dont really see anyone wear those anymore.
hahahah... im loosing it.. i dont have a sigle sweater.. only wearing tshirt and jeans since 30yrs.. dont unterstand the whole thing.... and i think im only waering clothes to get not arested.. sorry maybe in my next life

Sorry, but the turtleneck with the suit combo at 12:40 mark is horrible and needs to be tagged the "giraffe look".
Yeah, I agree. Perhaps if the turtleneck only covered half the neck it would look better.
nothing fits me off the rack, I must be a monster
Noel Fielding breaks all these rules with style and looks better than everyone in the video.

Never was one who liked sweaters.
really not sure about this advice... have you seen what is currently being sold, and you dont even mention it.
Just please, don't tuck in any heavyweight sweater. Much appreciated.

A turtleneck with a dress jacket and jeans has garnered me massive compliments and positive attention from some very very sexy ladies
