Israel: Dr. Jones: Understanding Michael Voris - Sept. 20th, 2016

  • Dr. E. Michael Jones just wrote an eBook on Michael Voris and his homosexual past. The unhealed wounds from this past push Voris to scapegoat his self-loathing onto those holding authority in the Catholic Church. Jones explains how the notion of cheap grace picked up maybe from Lutheran/Protestant theology blinds many Christians to the possible necessity of first enduring a painful penitential healing process before venturing out into a public ministry. Narcissism is a possible result of unhealed wounds caused by sin.

    E. Michael Jones is basically saying that a person cannot serve God once they have sinned and repented. In Michael Voris' speeches, he admitted living a deeply sinful life, and has repented of his previous sins. This is nothing more than a witchhunt based on inuendo, heresay and pop-psychology.
    Unless Michael Voris is teaching something against church teaching (which he is not), you should be supporting Voris instead of following your primitive brain's desire to make and break people out of wrongful pride.
    Assuming that Michael Voris is still a damaged person, who is engaging in scrupulosity, which denies the healing capacity of Christ's grace in ones life. Why does E. Michael Jones make all these assumptions about Voris' state of mind? Who knows, I am not a mind reader, but Jones thinks he is.

    • @helland52
      @helland52 7 років тому +17

      havock89 I think Mike is saying that according to Catholic teaching a person that has persisted in sins extreme as Sodomy requires special oversight by church leadership before he can presume to be a leader of the flock. Protestant theology usually allows for sudden and miraculous healing at the time of conversion. Nature vs. Grace

    • @havock89
      @havock89 7 років тому +8

      What makes you think he hasnt had special oversight? I know that the bishop of the diocese for where ChurchMilitant.tv is based (which is not michigan as most people assume) has given the oversight and support for ChurchMilitant.tv's work.
      There is an assumption here, a huge one that the is no oversight, that Michael Voris is engaging in scrupulosity and is unhealthy psychologically, and spiritually. None of the people in this video are qualified to speak to these aspects, and that is why it is a witchhunt based on inuendo and heresay.
      Having recieved absolution for his sins for which he is contrite, and having receved the authority from the ordinary of the diocese where ChruchMilitant.tv is registered, nothing more should be said.
      Sudden and miraculous healings are a Catholic thing too, btw.

    • @walterhigo7658
      @walterhigo7658 7 років тому +4

      How do we know Michael Voris does not have such "special oversight" by church leaders? He talks about going to confession and taking communion on a regular basis and he also constantly seeks the advice of well known catholic cardinals and bishops, so there's no reason to assume he is not getting proper guidance from the church leaders.

    This is a very interesting psychological analysis of the behavior of Michael Voris. I am thinking of Paul who after his conversion had to be put out of the way by his fellow Christians for some time until he gets rid of his fleshly zeal with which he first used to attack Christians and after his conversion used to debate the enemies of the church. The changing point was - as Paul himself tells us - when the father revealed Christ in him.

  • @pcjgrjpaj

    Neither Dr. Jones nor Michael Voris have a monopoly on the truth. They are both have a right to voice their defence of the Church. Provided that they say nothing contrary to Church teaching I say "Bravo, let each one speak. Who am I to judge?' At this time in history, faithful Catholics should be united in Christ to spread the Good News.

    • @chefEmersonWilliams
      @chefEmersonWilliams 4 роки тому +2

      EXACTLY! And that's why Dr. Jones is wrong, though. He should be offering to help or support those who are preaching the Truth (there are so many who aren't), instead of tearing one down who is less than perfect, but playing on the same team. I'm done with Jones. To heck with him.

      Voris is diametrically opposite to St Augustine. Because Voris, after the "miraculous conversion", behaves like a Donatist superior, and finds faults everywhere, and what is worst of all, broadcasting them everywhere. He assumes the role of God's whip. St Augustine, on the other hand, had his head clear and rational, and opposed Donatists. Augustine was a Catholic, Voris has never ceased to be enthusiast Protestant completely messed up by TV addiction.

    • @dumbforester
      @dumbforester 7 років тому +4

      Zvonimir Tosic
      well... I don't know exactly what do you see in Voris that is so protestant. Is being agressive tv personality "protestant"? Where he fails to obey and teach Catholic doctrine? Any episodes of Vortex or whatever program you can point to as an example?
      Augustine was also haunted by his past and is seemingly incoherent in his writing on the issue of free will which is crucial and was inspiring to Martin Luther in his revolt. so.... you know... talking about Protestantism...

    • @zvonimirtosic6171
      @zvonimirtosic6171 7 років тому +10

      That what Voris is selling, it can be called Catholicism only in America maybe. In the old world, where Catholicism is dominant culture since days of first martyrs, such an approach, rhetorics, whipping of audience, 'born again enthusiasm', development of media persona, etc. fit only used car salesmen. Unfortunately, majority of 'Catholic voices' today come from America, and to be noticed, they take approaches and vehicles of the dominant American culture, which by its inception is not Catholic, but Protestant and capitalist.

    • @dumbforester
      @dumbforester 7 років тому +10

      so the only thing you hold against Voris is his style? But I asked for material proof of him preaching heresy. I don't see any. Is the objection to Voris that he speaks the truth about the Church?
    Is the objection to Voris that he “undermines” the Church even though he speaks the truth?
    Is the objection to Voris that he was an active homosexual, so that he has no standing to speak?
    What if the Church cannot save itself because the homosexuals within it are now too numerous and powerful?
    Will it eventually right itself, but as a much, much smaller Church?

    • @peter52helland
      @peter52helland  5 років тому +5

      At a minimum I think Dr. Jones is saying that it is very probable that Mike Voris has some unhealed blind spots in his thinking coming as scars from the prior lifestyle. I would only say be careful to diversify, as they say, so that you do not pick up any subtle blind spots because of a diet coming from just one food source.

We can talk about his motives all day, only God knows the truth about that. Again, are his statements true? If so then he is uncovering a massive evil no matter what deep psychological motives may be driving him.

    A bit over-the-top from Dr. Jone's point of view. While he rightly outlines the dangers of "Protestanizing" the Church through improper Evangelizing, especially via the process of externalizing (projecting) your demons, it is the "11th" hour after all.
    On the other hand, I do find Michael Voris to be a bit too "Billy Graham".
    Actually, on second thought, I'm going to err toward Voris on this one; maybe we need some Savonarola energy.

    In my study of my Catholic Faith, I've come to completely reject evolution, and in fact think it's ra ridiculous notion. Officially "The Church" does not endorse either "theory". So, we as Catholics are free to accept Creation or evolution. However, those who "believe in" evolution must accept that Adam and Eve were in a state of "perfection" and "intimacy" with God, and then "FELL" by disobedience (rebellion), Jesus came to Save us, by reversing the disobedience with Obedience, and sacrifice. He became the Sacrificial Lamb, the fulfillment of the Passover in Egypt. I have come to believe that evolution is incomparable with the fundamental theology of the Church.

      Yes. It contradicts the faith. Unfortunately almost all schools of learning (at least in America and probably outside too) under the Roman Catholic umbrella teach theistic evolution. Most Catholics believe in it because their leadership does.

Look into the history of the DSM editions and notice the influence that political pressure has on it. We call people these things because it kinda sorta fits and that works. I find it interesting that this kind of sensitivity is reaching a fevered pitch here in the West at the same time we seem to be imploding.

    15:30 Not all protestants believe that you do an alter call and your sins such homosexuality are admonished. In fact many Independent Fundamental Baptists believe that homosexuality is not merely a forgivable sin but it is an effect of being given over to a reprobate mind which is punishable by death. Romans 1: 24-32
    In order for one to become a homosexual you must already have the following- lust in yout heart, a willingness to dishonor your body, change the truth of God, and worship the creature more than God. Then God will give you over to a reprobate mind to do all the things listed in verses 29-32.
    24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
    25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
    26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
    27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
    29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
    30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
    31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
    32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

    Wow talk about psychobabble.
    The only sensible question asked by the interviewer during this waste of one hour was regarding Cardinal Dolan and whether or not his actions merited criticism. Conveniently Professor Jones evades the question by returning to his ad nauseam conclusion that everything Michael does and says is a result of his bottled up gay narcissism (In fact if you consider angry criticism of evil men and deeds narcissism then you are pointing the finger at yourself).
    I’m sorry Professor Jones, I have a lot of respect for the work you do but your assessment of Michael Voris is completely off the mark and uncharitable to say the least. I know that you care about the state of the Church and the world and have done a brilliant job documenting and analyzing all of the external threats to our Faith and
    culture. In this sense you and Mr. Voris are the same but the main difference is that he has taken on the cross of exposing the internal threat to our Faith. I’m sorry Sir, but you must recognize that our Church has been infiltrated by these same enemies that you have no qualms about criticizing to nth degree (Wake up Mr. Jones these men are now on the inside!). Faithful Catholics need to unite in our opposition to those that are destroying the Church from without and WITHIN! - I really hope that you would reconsider your position on this crucial issue.

    35:13 And there it is. Jones is just being what the kids call "a hater". Voris is spot on in his UA-cam analysis of culture and the Catholic Church. Until I watched this I just assumed that Jones and Voris were more theologically alike than not alike, but I see there are ideological differences. Apparently Jones doesn't believe in the healing power of faith to fix one's wrong-think once they commit homosexual sins. Is this fair to say of his stance? Could this really be mostly about Jones being salty over Voris' production quality?

    Most of the comments miss the point. Major inner stresses come from childhood. And sin / troubles need healing (penance in reality). Voris has done some good work, but Jones is identifying how Voris' motivations are partly personalized. However, Jones misses how much the Church is sick, needing a lot of zeal to fix. Voris doesn't even see the papal problem properly and it's the one major blind spot for Jones regarding Church history. People upset aren't misunderstanding Nostra AEtate; it was intended as a wrecking ball. Vatican II is poison. Paul VI wore the breastplate of the Jewish High Priest many times (also worn by some Masons). He told his Protestant friend, Guitton, that he was going to "blow the seven trumpets of the Apocalypse". He was buried as a Jew, in a plain wooden box, etc. Obviously, since people are complex, and also since lies require subtlety or at least denials at times, some evidence is contradictory, but it has a clear thread showing subversion.

    This is one of the most relevatory of all EM Jones interviews after watching many. I now have extra respect for Peter Helland who must have had a close encounter with God while in prison. I know of no other Catholic who has quoted Scripture as much as him - in over 60 years. I would have to counter EMJ in that he faulted Protestants for easy believism, claiming that once they confess Jesus 'Everthing is roses.' The truth is that every real Christian believer finds that he is on a new journey with Jesus, and that for sure includes some trouble with joy Colossians 1:11. To be fair EMJ also faults the confessant who tells the priest his sins and is then 'just left off the hook with three Hail Marys.' Something more troubling that was stated is that Michael Voris has indelible scars because of past sins. That his sin outranked fornication and even adultery. My reply that it is all covered by the mercy and blood of Christ and accusers of the brethren should not think their own - non sexual sins- do not need the same mercy. Unfortunately the Catholic church teaches that someone addicted to a sin must downplay, depress and repress the sinful addiction that evolves from thought. Jesus came to "condemn sin in the flesh" and that includes those very lusts that start in the heart. It may be an instant deliverance or it may take a long time, no matter, He Is Able To Deliver Thee. And lets not think that past sins which have been forgiven must rule and reign in our minds. Christ paid the heaviest of ransoms for us so that we could have His peace.

    Dear Dr. E. Michael Jones - I generally love your work but couldn't an advocate of the Devil say that you are indeed 'trying to get yourself off the hook' (35:12) for doing what Michael Voris does, while attacking him behind his back? That your obsession with Jews and gays means you used to be one (or still secretly are) and hate yourself for it? And that maybe you are just as much a narcissist for writing books, publishing a magazine and giving speeches on the internet? Can any repentant sinner warn other people about his previous sins? Did Saint Paul not find 'a vehicle to project his self-loathing onto others', or Saint Augustine?
    Did you talk to Michael Voris before gossiping about him? What do you mean that you were 'willing to help, but he chose the road (of narcissism)' (51:01)? I totally agree with you that gossiping about Cardinals and Bishops without talking to them first is not helpful, but should Catholics not warn other Catholics of certain hypocrite Catholics even if they are in the hierarchy? I'm not yet a Catholic but I am talking to a priest about becoming one. God bless you, and Peter Helland, and Michael Voris. Greetings from Jasper

    I do enjoy these two and may subscribe to Culture Wars. However they do not understand Easy Gracism. If a penitent goes to a Protestant altar and asks for forgiveness and confesses that Jesus is Lord and believes that Jesus rose from the dead - it does not end there. But we must expect they have been Washed in the Blood of Jesus (Not transubstantiated wine). God will continue to lead, bless, and chastise His children from then on, unless the one time penitent declines the grace of God. PH and EMJ should not just look at liberal Protestants and Evangelicals which would negate everything I just said. If a priest repents the Lord forgives, why dont you? It is said that Catholics who have gay or hetero lustful desires should keep those desires depressed. But Jesus came to condemn sin IN THE FLESH. IOW He can cleanse anyone of their lusts so that those very thoughts are replaced by other Godly thoughts - Logi - word of God. It may take time but Jesus is the shepherd to lead one into paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
