- Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
▶ a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, travelling at 50 km/h
▶ a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
▶ a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
▶ a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
▶ a whiplash test performed on a sled.
A series of pedestrian tests are also conducted with different impactors : adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form. As well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023 a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.
Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders, fatigue, distraction and impairment), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

I got the BYD Seal(CLTC 700km) handed over to me on Oct of 2022, so an entire year and 17500kms already up to now, most of the time I drive within the downtown area but I have driven back to my hometown which is 500km away from my company as well, I got 18% battery left when I reach home. I have the experience of driving BMW 3 series, Benz C class, but I love Seal the best. You deserve one if it is within your budget.😊

chasis rigidity is comparable to RR phantom.
The blade battery is incorporated into the chassis, doubling the rigidity, in addition to making maintenance easier.

There are only 2 working Space Stations, the old one belongs to Russia and some other countries, the new Space Station belongs to China.
We’ll, there is always a cost factor though. If you throw an absurd amount of money at something, like the space station, it will surely work. It takes China a long time to achieve the balance of affordability and quality.

It is seriously impressive how they have improved. My dad’s 2021 MG HS is an electrical nightmare and borderline dangerous to be inside sometimes but these newest models (specifically not from SIAC) seem great.

Although their slogan "build your dream" may sound cheesy, many years ago when BYD CEO announced they wanted to build cars, my reaction was exactly "in your dreams", and now they've built that dream!

as expected. ctb structure makes sure this car has extrem rigidity and can withstand collision better than almost all other cars. look at the side collision which is most deadly, seal's body frame barely changed. byd can improve on its ADAS, though it is adequate now.

What China is trying to achieve are using lowest cost to maximise results. You are paying 50k but u get 100k product.

More than 10 years ago, there was a Chinese brand got 0 score at the crush test in EU, just because there was no warning sound if the safety belt is not plugged. No doubt it's an intentional humiliation from the arrogant EU people. Those days has long gone. Chinese car makers are making the waves now.

I've said before that the Chinese will catch up fast, and they are. Still some work to do on the safety calibration but BYD is miles ahead of Chery and other makes, with Nio just ahead of BYD. If they can prove themselves with longer term reliability and build quality (including rust prevention, something Chinese OEM's ,like SAIC group, skimp on), then they'll become an established brand.
next gen of BYD EV will be mature beyond legacy auto makers can ever catchup on

@james_l4337 The crash rating was exactly the same of 89% adult occupant, but other tests were slightly better on the Dolphin, I would of thought a bigger crumble zone would help??
China cars are coming strong. They have begin to produce better cars for cheaper price. European manufacturers need to realize this and adjust themselves.

Surprisingly that current EuroNCAP can't prevent Chinese cars from get the five stars score. BYD wants to "demolish the old legends". EuroNCAP should do anything to protect legacy auto brands especially Europeans.

Not at all. Those two are from different companies.
@@BSPBuilder different companies but the chassis that underpins the BYD seal belongs originally to Volvo after they both developed the chassis for the polstar brand.
Zeekr is similar to Volvo because it is under the same mother company geely, and byd is the one of the major opponent to geely in China. Check your memory before comment next time

If this really does beat the tesla model 3/Y then I guess we can say bye bye to little timmy or anyone crossing the street at night. All the people saying the Seal is better than a tesla, might be right in some aspects, but its emergency braking systems and “intelligence" are abysmal for the kind of car it is. For comparison the Model Y got 98%. while this got 76%.
