    Euro NCAP January 2023 Press release www.euroncap.c...
    Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
    - a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
    - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
    - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
    - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
    A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
    Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

    Very impressive results, as expected from Tesla. The side impact and pole tests showed so little deformation! And it alerted so early for pedestrians, giving the driver plenty of time to brake. It’s clear Tesla really does prioritize safety for people inside and outside the car. Kudos to all the hard working engineers at Tesla who worked on these active and passive safety systems.

    The number of “titles” this car holds is unbelievably impressive. One of the safest vehicles in its class as evidenced by this video. One of the fastest accelerating production cars (despite being a 5/7 seat LSS!). The lowest/one of the lowest drag coefficients of any production car. The most advanced autonomous + safety features out of any automaker. And arguably some of the most beautiful, timeless & iconic styling (hell, the body style is a decade old, and still looks great-especially with modern touches/refreshes)…. So frickin versatile, overall. All the stuff it has/can do, and yet it can beat any super/hypercar to 60/120+…
    I’m so proud to own a MSP, after falling in love with the MS a decade ago as a sophomore in high school… I truly believe it will go down in history as one of the greatest vehicles of the 21st century…
    It’s influence on electric vehicles alone cannot be denied. Made them simultaneously cool, practical, thrilling, and (relatively) affordable, for the first time.

    Why do some cars have the side impact tested with a passenger whilst other cars don't? Like the Range Rover Sport didn't have a passenger in the side impact.

    • @thevalidsimmer
      @thevalidsimmer Рік тому +2

      some cars have a side impact test with a passenger because the car is fitted with a centre airbag that deploys between the driver and front passenger, only cars fitted with a centre airbag undergo these additional tests. centre airbag tests have also only been part of Euro NCAP tests since 2020.
