The dealer I go to tells me they cannot fix the problem any more than they have because they do not have a Master Technician??? I am going to have to travel a ways to get a dealer with a Master Technician. The engine light has gone on twice now. It is supposedly fixed now. If not and the light goes on again and the car seems to run fine I want to turn off the engine light. I purchased a Walmart Hyper Tough HT 100 code reader. It is not much on instructions. It connects with your phone via Blue Tooth to give an explanation of the code. I do not need an explanation and I just want to turn off the engine light. My question is, do I have to use the Blue Tooth feature with the HT 100 or can I just plug it to the plug in the car, turn the ignition to on, read the code, and push the red button to clear the code?? Thank you, Tom Spero
You can clear code with the device itself. But once you clear if it comes back after driving, it is best not to clear after that due to the fact that the master tech will read not just the code but the freeze frame of what was going on when the code was written.

If it is not the maf, then it's either the pcv valve or a leak in the air intake house. Also sometimes it needs a software flash when you replace the pcv valve.
From experience for what ever reason, Nissans and Infinitis don't play well with aftermarket parts. If you end up having to replace your maf sensor, get one from the dealer or original factory part online. Paying a little more upfront, will save you in the long run when you have to replace the aftermarket part.
Mine is OEM Hitachi $560.00 dealer price. After market does sell the same Hitachi MAF sensor. Price is $ 385.00. Caution do not buy cheap air filters that are mentioned here. Nissan filter is around $35 better filtration and more durable, you get what you pay for.

Here are your options, Check the throttle body, if it's dirty, clean it. Check the connectors and the wiring at the MAF sensor. If you have a scan tool, look at the short fuel trim numbers at high and low RPMs. If the short fuel trim (STFT) goes lean at low RPMs, it's a sign of a vacuum leak. A leaking purge valve, as well as brake vacuum booster can also cause this problem. Check the MAP sensor; it's used to check for rationality of the MAF sensor. If the oem MAP sensor is faulty, it also can cause the code P0101.
@@JJCentral-DIY What about if the MAF sensor is reading 195 g/s constantly, and sometimes drops to the normal range 6-9 g/s? Is this a sign of a failed MAF, or is this a wiring issue? ( I ask because the car had the MAF replaced a year ago)
@@roofcamper3473 at idle it should read between 2 and 8 and at full throttle it will be 30 to 40 times as idle. But if yours is putting 195 constantly, it is stuck in full throttle open loop. Clean it, if not replace it.
It will take some time before your check engine light turns off. You need to drive the car for couple of days and then see. You can also turn it off using a scanner.
Assuming you mean the evap purge solenoid, it is on top of the intake manifold towards the back of the engine. You can do a 9 or 12v battery test to see if it closes. If you are replacing that change the pcv valve right next to it.
I also have a 14 Altima and it has the check engine light and reads the same code ... cleaning it didn’t help and I replaced the MAF sensor with one from autozone and it still comes up and my car hesitates when I try to accelerate . TheAlife18 So according to Nissan this happens a lot. The code ended up resetting on its own. I was also told if you put a new sensor in it takes a while for the car to get use to it. So drive as normal and it SHOULD reset on its own within a week or so.
You can also pull the ground on your battery and let it sit for awhile draining the computer of it's power, thus resetting it. If it's a hard fault or code it will still be in the memory, if it's a soft fault or code it will erase and relearn accordingly.
I have the same code with my 2013 altima 2.5. I replaced MAF, air filter, and PCV valve with cleaning Throttle body. Still have the code. Now I clear the code whenever it shows using obd2 scanner. If it is not the maf, then it's either the pcv valve or a leak in the air intake house. Also sometimes it needs a software flash when you replace the pcv valve.
jjcentral I appreciate the fast response!! thanks I’ll definitely give that a try
To get it off did you use a torx bit on the ratchet if yes which size

From experience for what ever reason, Nissans and Infinitis don't play well with aftermarket parts. If you end up having to replace your maf sensor, get one from the dealer or original factory part online. Paying a little more upfront, will save you in the long run when you have to replace the aftermarket part.
Mine is OEM Hitachi $560.00 dealer price. After market does sell the same Hitachi MAF sensor. Price is $ 385.00. Caution do not buy cheap air filters that are mentioned here. Nissan filter is around $35 better filtration and more durable, you get what you pay for.
I changed mass flow air sensor, due to check engine light code, on a 2011 Nissan Rouge Check engine light came back on. What should I check replace next?
You should scan it before replacing stuff to see what is them problem
Need programming after cleaning??
Same code im lose gas like crazy. Happen 4 years ago will replace maf with oem. I used oem from junkyard last time
I was quoted $430.00 at Napa auto parts and canadian tire don't even have a listing for it
How long after til the light goes away? I changed it today but engine light is still on
Disconnect the battery for few minutes and put it back. Ideally use a code reader to erase and see if it comes back.
What happens if you replace the mass air flow sensor with and OEM. The engine light still come one again even after the code has been erased?
I changed mine today but the check engine light is still on. Any suggestions?
It will take some time before your check engine light turns off. You need to drive the car for couple of days and then see. You can also turn it off using a scanner.
@@JJCentral-DIY okay that Answered my question
Well, I put a new oem maf sensor and clean filter. Still getting the code. Any suggestions?
Change pcv valve as well with nissan oem, pretty cheap.
Could you guide me where evap sensor located in nissan altima 2013 ? Do I need to open dash to replace it?
Assuming you mean the evap purge solenoid, it is on top of the intake manifold towards the back of the engine. You can do a 9 or 12v battery test to see if it closes. If you are replacing that change the pcv valve right next to it.
What kind of screwdriver did you use to get the sensor out

Thumbs up for the birdy!!
Do you know everything about Nissan's
I have owned enough Nissan's to understand what's going on. Whats your issue?
I also have a 14 Altima and it has the check engine light and reads the same code ... cleaning it didn’t help and I replaced the MAF sensor with one from autozone and it still comes up and my car hesitates when I try to accelerate . Took it to a mechanic and he said I need to buy a MAF sensor directly from Nissan , he didn’t charge me because he knew the check engine light would come back and it did :(
Elena Davalos did you end up fixing the problem ? My car is doing the exact same thing
The Best Of Fortnite well I ordered the Nissan part 275$ (auto zone was 180$) but the mechanic didn’t work all last week because it rained all week . Haven’t called him this week to replace the sensor . Check engine light is still on but since he gave it back to me my car had not hesitated at all and it’s ran very smooth. But I hate seeing the check engine light
Did replacing the sensor fix your problem?
Efrain Carrillo once I had the genuine Nissan sensor put in the light was still on but it went away a day later and had not come back , the lesson I learned was just buy genuine Nissan because the after market sensor I got was a waste of money .
I have the same code on my 13 2.5s Altima. Other than the CEL being on all the time, there are no symptoms affecting performance ot driveability. Im gonna clean the maf and replace air filter and see what happens.
To permanently fix the problem, you need to take your car in to stealership and get your car reprogram. It will stop the high rpm
@@truegrizzlesfan2292Ive read that a dirty throttlebody or a leak of air somewhere, possibly a vacuum leak, maybe bad ground to the maf. The "reprogramming" may infact be them cleaning or fixing a mechanical issue. Its a well kept secret. Maybr hitting a bump causes voltage drop due to faultu wiring and it takes the computer sevetal days to turn off on its own. Which is what my car does. It constantly turns on and off, still no performance loss or any symptoms. I cleaned the maf twice and it stayed off for longer but came back. The 2012 tsb issues seems to correlate to newer year altimas aswrll
@@shaneblack3149 oh k. I know replacing my mass air flow sensor and reprogram fix the problem for me
@@truegrizzlesfan2292 I agree, I'm trying not to go that route and may be able to find the issue myself. I know taking it to the dealer will fix the issue and it may be the maf and reprogram, but if it is more simple than that in my case, i will share my experience to hopefully help a stranger save time and money.
@@shaneblack3149 Needs to have PCV valve replaced (updaed part) and ECU reprogrammed for a permanent fix.
Was that the cure long term?
I wouldn't say long term but a year or two and another cleaning before you replace.
pro tip. if it isnt the air filter or sensor or harness, it is 99% chance its the ground screws
Could you be more specific on which grounding screw you are talking about? The main battery negative grounding screw?
@JJ Central I have a 2012 Altima these 2 screw im referring to are directly above the alternator bolted to the motor mount for grounding. the wires lead directly into the engine harness
@@alfizzle6794 thank you. There are quite a few in here that are looking for solutions. I will pin this comment to be visible.
@JJ Central Yea thats cool. this drove me crazy and I wanted to share in case anyone needed help and had tried all the steps from the fsm with no luck. Hope it helps someone!
I got the same code 3 times. Ended up cleaning it like so and got the code again. Second time I purchased whole new band name sensor. Now I'm getting the code again. Someone help. What should I do?
I was told the ECU had to be updated after replacing depending on your car. Not sure if that’s the issue but maybe?
same thing is happening iwth my car, did you ever get it fixed??
TheAlife18 So according to Nissan this happens a lot. The code ended up resetting on its own. I was also told if you put a new sensor in it takes a while for the car to get use to it. So drive as normal and it SHOULD reset on its own within a week or so.
You can also pull the ground on your battery and let it sit for awhile draining the computer of it's power, thus resetting it. If it's a hard fault or code it will still be in the memory, if it's a soft fault or code it will erase and relearn accordingly.
Clean you MAC
I have the same code with my 2013 altima 2.5. I replaced MAF, air filter, and PCV valve with cleaning Throttle body. Still have the code. Now I clear the code whenever it shows using obd2 scanner. Strange thing is that the code appears more than 20 times, but it shows only when my car starts up. The CEL never pops up during driving. Will Reprogramming the ECU fix the problem? Could I ask the dealer to update the ECU program without diagnosis of the car?
Yun Gu Lee I have a 2015 sentra with same issue. I found out there’s a bulletin out for the issue. You have to take car to dealer and reprogram the ECU.
@@jcr23bv89 Because the dealers charge much money, I want to do everything that I can do before taking car to the dealers. Does your car pop up P0101 only when start up?
@capitalismforme There is no visual crack in the air intake hose. Also, I think P0101 may pop up during driving if there are cracks.
Anyone who watching this video, take your car to the stealership and let the mechanic reprogram your ecm. You can't reset the ecm Bec the mafs will not know if it's a new part or an old one I had this done to my car and it fix the problem. I paid like 120 . Lastly, don't let the stealership upsale you either
trueGrizzlesFAN22 I got the same code bought a new maf sensor directly from Nissan checked for leaks, cracks , everything was ok replaced it 3days later service engine sign bk on smh 🤦♂️
@@michaelarthur8803 you gotta take your car to the dealer and let the dealer reprogrsm the ecm. Reset the ecm will NOT work. I paid 120 and well worthy
sorry u paid that dealer price on the MAFS. i went to o'relly auto parts and paid 135. I was mad about that price. bec my code was showing again. until i took my car to dealer and had them reprogram. I honestly, believe if I would used the can to spray my MAFS and then had the MAFS reprogram it would fix the problem. You live and learned.
Ty 👍👍
Did the check engine light just go away for did you have to reset the code?
Reset the code and didn't come back. If it comes back then change the pcv valve and mad sensor.
Im going to do this right now
man crapy vid but well worth the time, really not a critic, I am actually grateful for your info
nice
You didn’t show the car with the code clearing
I have a 2017 nissian Altima my air mass flow sensor came on and I had cleared it but it never came back on but my car jerking and not accelerating right and don’t want to go fast
What happened now?
Were you able to fix it?
I need to know how u fixed it
that battery leaking change it
Wow that’s a nasty engine bay 😂
By the looks of the engine compartment it needs some serious TLC UNDER THE HOOD.
I gave you a thumbs up and I'm watching a video and you're pretty much right but I have a hard time cuz there's crap in the box that you didn't get out it's just so damn dirty you don't love your car or you got a funny way of showing it???
Looks like some one's OCD is challenged. Lol. I did clean out the box, but the point is to show the process of elimination and didn't want to focus on air filter. Also filming one hand and working on the car with the other is challenging, so you will see a lot of edits and no mentions.
its not an accolade for a car to go 100k miles in any way shape or form
I can’t fucking take off the tab off the sensor for some reason. It seems to be stuck on it
0112 code
U need to replace your MAF sensor with the original one if you have that code. Hitachi MAF0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor for Nissan Altima.
@@matengadesire
Can I use a used airsenso
@@richardcasillas6456 Nissan maf sensors are made by Hitachi. U can only use the original MAF sensor from Nissan dealer or find the original one made by Hitachi.
