if you get the air unit o3 , basically the same thing that is in the avata, you could use your dji fpv remote , and you can put a gps on it to get a gps rescue
@@PeterLindgren1 yup because your fc has the crossfire module, so if you want the dji fpv remote to work you ll need a bit of soldering and betafligth configuration ;-)
(almost crying) Peter, you've grown up so fast! I still remember writing to you - "please, PLEASE, do not try manual mode until you get enough practice in the simulator!". And now, you are already flying on a real FPV drone! (*sniff*)
The feeling of finding the drone after an hour of searching is truly a great feeling. Excellent work flying, looking forward to seeing some more sweet shots!
@@TheTubejunky It seems pretty obvious you havent flown fpv before, I crashed a drone 20 feet from me into leaf litter and still spend and hour searching for it, its easy for the drone to be obsured and finding it can be a huge pain. Dont ask me about the drone i dropped in a field of head high cattails and spend 10 hours searching for with no luck.
@@SmashToBits Did you pay attention to the sun's position in the sky? Or are you a naive person that just accepts what YTuber's post as to be the 1000% truth because well, "THEY DO THE SAME THING I DO"? Seriously, I'm well aware of losing a drone or an ARROW WHILE HUNTING, it just makes more sense to WATCH the actual video and deduce that the SECOND DRONE was used to find/follow the "LOST" one. Reality is easily hidden when money is to be made from ADS on a ten minute video. You're welcome to believe it did take hrs. My opinion is that it did not.
That reaction is literally exactly same for anyone who has every lost a drone and recovered it. As someone from the DIY drone camp, that GEPRC bind-and-fly is a great choice.
Us, the FPV pilots spend lot of time, money, energy, to practice before can fly properly and professionally. Glad to see more content creator/videographer are taking step to fpv world. Happy flying!
Peter that was one of your best videos you have done yet! I have been following you since the beginning and this was an incredible video. Awesome job on the drone flying! I’ve crashed my drones a couple times as well. I figure that if I don’t crash them occasionally I’m not pushing myself to get better at flying them.
Great video thank you! I would say it helps 100%! I have the DJI Avata 2 and Mini 4 pro (both amazing drones for different situations) and I recently started leaning manual. At first using drone sims like uncrashed, lift off and DRL, I honestly couldn't stay in the air for 5 seconds, (acro mode) and kept crashing! And although I aint no expert, I can fly around now with confidence and even pull off rolls, flips, tricks like spilt S etc and when I took out my Avata 2 and put her in man mode (my heart was pumping) I was super happy to learn it all translated across perfectly. I would recommend staying at a high altitude to practise, away from people and over a nice grassy field for eg but the drone sims help A LOT!! Of course nothing matches the actual feel and timing of the real world drone you are gonna fly but its a start and will def put you on the right road.
Already subbed to Teppo think I was on his channel before yours even - this was epic been looking forward to it the shots with the scenes and sunrise where crazy still staying with the Avata
That was a really fun video!! You could see the 10 bit difference in the cameras .It was cool to see the three of you together. I have to assume there was a little hangover the next AM. 🥃
WOW man! good job. I purchased exactly 2 days ago my tango II and I'm training in liftoff for 2 days now. That video motivates me that..... It will be good ... soon :D
For the Avata 2 they should really make it easier to find these things. If they put a camera on the headset, it would let you toggle an AR view like VR goggles are, and then you can just put the last GPS transmit position as an AR dot in the world. Walk over and find drone. If they do that and O4... I'm all in on Avata 2.
That’s like way more complex than you imagine. AR is hard.. you’d need to put a whole graphics processing unit inside the headset (aka a computer). Just a GPS map on phone with a dot would be good enough
With the mark5 and O3 system you can get the last camera view just like the avatar and you can also easily add a GPS unit to it and have the gps coordinates in recording in your goggles so you can easily locate it after a crash
My heart was racing watching you trying to find the Avata! Twice!! But Finland, what an epic place to go do this. I've been once, only for a few days, no drone of course, it was -30C while we were there, did the Dog Sledding, Reindeer sleigh and the Snowmobiles (they're not so easy to ride!). Anyway, brilliant video, location and flying. I never mastered FPV other than some very sedate flying my own builds. Bravo to you.
A big thing you will notice with the Avata is if you do front and back flips the Avata will drop like a rock a bit. I found if you do that, you're going to have to get it some upward thrust and then excite the front and back flips so you get a lot less dropping. Still practicing in that area when the weather doesn't suck. I been using LiftOff for my Manual Mode Fun and it is not the same, but somewhat close. The simulator does help out a great deal and you will need a bunch of practice in the sim. You get the time in, you're going to have a much better time flying the Avata if you didn't do the sim or used it very little. The simulator that DJI provides, let's face facts, it sucks! It is fun, but nothing like flying either of the DJI FPV drones at all. I can do a 180 degree around a stop sign in the simulator and instantly be going the opposite direction. There is no way in hell, you're going to pull that off in real life!
Hi, two weeks ago I got the Avata for myself. I‘m totally not into FPV and also both the LiftOFF sim for practicing in Manual Mode. Wich drone is close to the feeling of the DJI Avata. Thank you very much if you can help me out!
In love with this video and the experience you brought to us. Absolutely epic, inspiring me to practice my fpv skills even more and go out to awesome locations 💯✔️🔥
Awesome! I have the avata and waiting for my rc controller. Can you pls make a video about how to steady the footage in gyroflow? How to record on avata etc. 🙏🏼
Your timing is perfect. I am getting comfortable with the DJI FPV and have been thinking about taking the same step and getting a true FPV. Great video!!! 👍
I really love this video, Peter. I've flown Mavics for years. I discovered FPV early last year and it was such an incredible experience, and I find it hard now to go back and fly my Mavics! What a beautiful location to fly in also! The GEPRC Mark5 is a great drone. Personally, when someone asks me about starting in FPV, I tell them to buy a controller, do the simulator time and then buy a 5" quad. I prefer avoiding bad habits associated with "vanilla" FPV, with drones like the DJI FPV drone or the Avata. However, each to their own. Thanks again for sharing such great content as always. 🙏❤
Hey there - I'm very new to drones and excited to get into them. I've already done what you suggested here and I think that is the best route also. I've been practicing in liftoff with the boxer radio I just got. I am realizing watching youtube that a lot of guys fly dji, but it seems to me that if you want to do fpv stuff there are better options. I want to eventually do things that it looks like you're doing on your channel. Outdoor sports / events / etc. I'll give your yt channel a sub! And what's your instagram account? I'll follow you there too 👍
I am dji Mavic pilot for 3 years and just got the Avata last September only had 2 flight in Manual so far (lots of hours in the simulator before).Great footage but scary losing it in deep snow where it all looks the same. In the UK it's really wet & muddy so crashing is a real hassle. I'm also looking to get a dji 03 air unit drone at some point.
The build up to the the first fpv flight, arming, giving throttle.. and the drone doesnt lift. Brings back memories😅 we have all been there and had the same wtf moment! good video dude and great flying! All those sim hours really payed off🚀

hi, very good your videos, I would like to know how you can record the OSD information of the glasses in the video?? I have a DJI FPV and I can't do this, is this exclusive to AVATA? Thank you very much, I'm waiting for answers
Great video as always, Peter. I’m curious why you chose to pick up a Tango 2 for the GEPRC instead of flying it with the DJI FPV Controller 2 which you’re familiar with? Is it a “feel” or customization difference, or simply an issue of swapping binding to multiple drones? Would you recommend that route to other DJI FPV/AVATA pilots looking to get into other BNF brands?
