I have 2018 Street Triple R (U.S. version if there is such a thing), both headlights illuminate on mine. I decided to get this bike after riding my son's 2012 Street Triple R. Both he and I think this 2018 version is a bit better in performance. Since I do not plan to run this bike on a track, I feel the R version is the best of the three for my purposes. When I hit 8,000 RPMs this bike really produces power. Thanks for another great video. I look forward to more on this Street Triple R. I also have a 2017 Bonneville T120 Black. I have to remind myself not to try to ride the T120 the way I ride the Street Triple R, or I scrape foot pegs and brake pedals.
I ended up getting the 2020 striple R. I wish they had the TFT displays on mine but I mean the quick shifter is nice. I think I would have rather had the TFT display because you can always buy a quick shifter after the fact you can't upgrade the display. Seems kinda dumb of them to literally down grade something.
@@LunchBXcrue quickshifter is about £300, TFT screen about £1500-1800, here's your answer ;) is not a downgrade, just a way to make more money and makes it look they dropped the price....
just collected my triumph street triple today 11 plate with just 1800 miles fully loaded riding this bike is exactly as you described in your reviews abs fab to ride been out today thanks for the help in showing this bike cheers missenden flyer
having not ridden a bike for a while I have been researching all types, your videos have made the choice really hard, however i keep coming back to the Street Triple R, keep the videos coming they are the best on the internet by a country mile
I bought a black one in October (OEM options: bar end mirror in black, CNC machined front reservoir, tail tidy and quickshifter). I removed all the safety stickers, changed the tires to the M7RRs, got a lighter battery from Antigravity and fitted the Yoshimura Alpha-T works. It's absolutely insane... Oh, and that left bulb is defective, man.
Problems from day one. TFT screen and left blinker with problems in the rain, leaking gasket at 350km, leaking radiator hose at 700km, problems with the R/R at 800km and 1250km... Got fed up, going back to Japanese reliability.
Hi Mr Flyer another great review as always. Just wanted to add that you never mentioned the 765 S base model in your review, only the R & Rs. As the owner of an S model I want to add that it too is an amazing motorcycle. Even though it hasn’t got all the whistles & bells of the the other models. It still has that beautiful sound track and handling & would make a great choice for anyone on a lower budget. I’ve had loads of bikes (mainly Yamaha) but this is my first Triumph and it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. It just drips with quality & doesn’t rust and fur up like yams! Give it a go if you get the chance 👍🏻
just purchased one of these and after 20 years of riding it is one of the best bikes ive ridden. it really is a real world machine, so light, amazing brakes and that engine noise above 6k rpm just sounds lovely. got rid of my Harley for it and haven't looked back.yes both headlights come on with dip if anyone asks. get one you wont regret it.
Revzilla did a review and showed the power curves of the two bikes. It's not just that the RS simply has an exponential portion toward the end of its powerband. That comes at the cost of a midrange power dip that the R does not have. It has a different cam. The R makes wonderfully linear power right up to its peak, which is just a little shy of the RS's. I agree that's a far better response for someone riding on the street who isn't going to be riding around at 10k+ rpm for long periods of time as they would on a track. Just too many great bikes out right now. It's driving me crazy! The worse part is that nobody rides motorcycles anymore, so they sit in the shops taunting me. I love the white. Nice sparklies in the sun.
Absolutely love that bike. The sound alone is enough but it's got the looks too, in my opinion the only bike I'd ever need. Look forward to the comparison with your 2012 version.
I actually went and bought a 2017/2018 model Street 765R after this video gave me the information I needed to push my decision, I can honestly say of the 8/10 bikes I’ve had none have been this fun or indeed accessible to ride ‘briskly’
Another great review TMF and keep up the great work. Picked up a Street Triple 14R ABS this year (1960 miles on it) and absolutely love the bike. Tail Tidy, Bar End mirrors and Shorty Levers have definitely improved the looks after changing them. Quickshifter and aftermarket can next year 'should' complete the mods. Sadly my Kawasaki ZZ-R600 will succumb to the ULEZ so another sports tourer will be on the cards. Radiator guard for the STR is also well worth the investment. Keep riding safe!
Btw, great to see you are a flyer too. Got my fixed wing license in an old Piper Tomahawk and later my rotary wing in a Robinson R22 and later Hughes/Schweitzer 300!
Great review! I had a 09 Street Triple R and now have a 15 R, will be getting a 765 R in the near future. The bike is just perfect for every day riding plus having fun under a ton on the back roads during weekends.
I bought this bike 2 months ago. Im a returning rider after many years away from riding. It is very easy to ride, and i know i will get more and more out of the bike as i get more confident and experienced. Yes, i would like heated grips too ( Melbourne, Australia). Ive made a really great choice for my first brand new bike. Couldnt be happier. I bought the silver one.
Have to agree that something like the street triple or any mid capacity street bike is really more than enough for road riding, especially in the UK, the roads there are perfect for mid capacity bikes, lots of corners and narrow roads. My big gripe with lots of newer bikes is the lack of decent size pillion seat - subframe, so much harder to strap gear onto, they need to be just a bit bigger then you could strap on a dry bag with all your gear and do the bigger rides without a problem, back packs become a pain after awhile. You need to take your street triple and do that run around Scotland, I think it would be much more fun than the GS.
Could you please review the street triple s . There are barely any good reviews of it. The s is the more " practical " bike methinks. Thanks. Oh! And the black one if possible.
Excellent review as usual! My 2010 STR currently has 50,000 kms on it and I love riding it now as much as when I first bought it. It has benefited from many performance mods over the years such as Arrow 3-1 exhaust, KyleUsa linear linkage with Ohlins TR805 shock (an amazing improvement in handling and ride). I replaced the terrible stock seat with a Sargent sport seat which was a huge improvement in comfort. With a Supersprox 520 conversion with a +2T rear sprocket the bike's performance is now not too far off the new ones. The only nasty bugaboo to develop was an intermittent broken wire in the ignition harness, causing loss of starting, which was difficult to track down. IMO the ignition key should be in a stationary spot (to prevent wire breakage) with a separate key for the steering lock. Do my own tuning with TuneEcu and recently did a throttle body balance which made the engine much smoother. A fantastic street bike; mine is so fast it can easily hit 160-170 kmph on an 80 kmph back-road around here just rolling on the throttle in top gear and the handling is simply effortless. It is definitely a keeper but one should remember to keep up proper maintenance.
Every single thing you've noted agrees with me. I have a '13 Street Triple R that I have fitted heated grips (Oxford) and the quick-shifter to; it's my pride and joy, I love my bike. Everything you say about the new version is spot on. I've never noticed 1 headlight though I have not looked. Seems an issue to me; I have fitted Cyclops LED (which are made for halogen reflector housings) and having both headlights on matters to me. I had my own '13 bike's seat redone by Spencer's seat modifications (down in Florida) last year and he did wonders with it. The new bike - if I bought one - would get that done right off the jump for me. He's a genious.
This spring i purchased an RS, and in July add an S due to very few being brought to the US. Over a couple beers decided i needed an R, so i have all 3. They all great bikes, great review
Thanks again for another excellent review. Remembering when 750cc were the big bikes. Always interested in Triumph 'new tech'. A number of issues came up recently on my Trophy SE - appear to be related to inadequate pre delivery setup. Finally going in for the initial 600 mile service this week. A number of oriental manufacturers have introduced naked triples; want to see a head to head comparison between them and the Triumphs. Keep up your good works.
Sir, you ever find yourself in Alberta Canada you have a place to stay here in Alberta. Only 2.5 hours away from the Rocky Mountains and a 2 day ride to the NW USA. We headed to Montana last year on our Trophy SE and absolutely loved it. I even have a spare 2012 V Strom if you need something to ride. Lots of open roads with little traffic. I moved here 22 years ago from the UK the views on a bike will take your breath away. Thanks for the videos you are helping me get thru the winter months when the bikes are tucked away in the Garage!!! Ride Safe!!
Thank you Colin - as it happens one of my best friends lives in Edmonton, so I have somewhere there already (although he doesn't have a bike to lend me!)....I lover the Rockies, yet to do them by bike though (and have never been to Montana)....
Brilliant review as usual - I see you have changed your mind on the two tone engine covers, as you said you weren't keen when you reviewed the RS. I personally love the way they coloured them.
nigel Thanks for the triumph triple review really professional videos good idea about heated grips for touring had some fitted recently keep up the great reviews
YES YES YES. Your occasional revelation of personal nuance makes it clear we have much in common. In this case it's people who don't use turn indicators; professional drivers indeed! :) The Triple sound is fantastic but Triumph needs to do some thing about the Frankenstein fly-eyes headlight; it's horrendous how they just hang onto the bike like that.
Picked up this bike in black a month ago with 3k on it. It came already fitted with the quick shifter. Being that I’m in Seattle, I’ll have the factory heated grips installed this fall. I love this bike!!! Cheers and thanks for all the tip!!
You mention the relatively tall seat height, however you can also get the R in a low ride height version which helps many people. The RS is only available in the higher seat height. A great overall review again, thanks.
I've owned the 765 R since June and i love it. The front bulb is out on that machine as both come on on mine on dipped. I tend to get about 120 miles per tank in winter and about 140 in the summer but that is with lots of small journeys, i have got it up to 150 miles per tank on a long trip in September. Lastly to screen is changed by ambient light as when i start the bike in my garage it always comes on in night mode but when i turn it on outside it comes on in daylight mode
Superb bike and review. I agree with you on the lights and grips and also i suspect the lack of illuminated buttons. From what i can see a really accomplished bike straight out of the box 👍 Time for Santa to step up , if only 😆
Another excellent and informative review. I used to have one of the very first street triples with the round head lights and loved it to bits. Thanks TMF
Good review sir! I had the chance to ride the Street S when it first came out back in July. I also felt the seat was a little hard when I first sat on it, but it did not get any worse over the 150 or so miles I did on it and the induction roar from 6k is intoxicating! Yes the headlamp bulb is definitely blown. The S returned 51 mpg over fast A & B roads and the Nissin brakes were more than up to the job when an elderly driver pulled out very late on me on a roundabout! Bet it would be a great Bike on the Gran Canaria rods!
Great review. Bike looks brilliant. Triumph look to have done a great job on it. Thinking the R would be the better buy over the RS. Unless u do track days. Which i dont. Just road riding. 👍🏻🏍
Great review of a lovely bike! I’m thoroughly enjoying my 2017 (previous model) Street Triple R especially now we’re heading into summer over here in NZ. Sounds like they’ve moved most things forward a notch and one or two (e.g the brakes and screen) on a whole lot!
Triumph's finest bike range . I've owned 3 .. A second hand '57 plate original in roulette green which was in such demand and short supply at the time I paid more than new list price for. ….A brand new '09 in black which was £ 5800 at the time, …..and just found a mint '09 "R" in matte graphite, 1 owner with 9000 miles on it for £3300 .. a definite keeper !
Just rode one recently, same model, same year (short video on my channel) and mine has the heated grips button on the left wrist. Only other difference that I could spot is that it didn't have the LED turn signals unfortunately. Sweet bike, having a tough decision deciding between this and the KTM 790 Duke, which already comes with the up/down quickshifter but doesn't have adjustable suspension or as good brakes.
Again a great video. I'm taking it this was shot a few days ago. Just watched the news here and the weather in Blighty doesn't look too conducive to motorcycling at present. Not to gloat "much" but we have just broken a 60yr record for the number of days without rain here in Canterbury (NZ) and have had another 30degree day. They are getting a little tiresome actually as riding in this weather is a wee bit uncomfortable to say the least. Hopefully your present bad weather doesn't last too long and you get some nice days for riding soon. Nice bike. Funny to hear you giving torque and power specs at revs that my Beemer can't even reach. That ice warning is insane. I just get to use the fact that my face and fingers are numb as a means of judging the outside temp. The less face and fingers I can feel, the colder the weather. Stay safe.
Correct Paul, this was the week before last - as I look out of my window now it is snowing hard (has been constantly for the last 2 days) and we have about 8 inches of snow lying :0(
At 13:16 when you were saying only one light goes on low beam that is not true the bulb is burnt out both bulbs are H4 or 9003 depending on what country you are they are dual filament meaning that they have a high and low built into each bulb (For some reason the low goes out first i would assume because it is on more often). I have a 2017RS and have had plenty of problems with it blowing bulbs. In 5,000 miles I have gone through 8 sets of bulbs. I have no idea what the problem is but in a number of press releases I have seen these bikes running with one bulb burnt out. They must know of the problem but keep telling me that they have never had one person have a similar problem. I love every part of this bike accept for the headlights but I have no idea why they cant put a set of killer bright LED lights on this bike at its price point. Going back to triumph on this Friday to have another specialist try to fix the problem. Also the TFT display has started(in the last 100 miles) to shutter or cut out when at high revs just before redline. Thanks for the video I hope this helps you out with the light problem!!!
Also after 5,000 miles the reflectors inside the headlight are cracking from the heat of the bulbs I do not know if this is related to the heat of the bulbs or the problem with the bulbs blowing from over ampage but none the less it is happening.
Yes it transpires the bike I have has a faulty light - very interesting to hear your experiences, sounds horrible, hope you manage to get it sorted....
TheMissendenFlyer thanks for the reply I hope so as well I was going 80 mph around a corner at night and lost both headlights it’s a huge safety problem. By the way fantastic video!
Aye, great review again mate. Gradually narrowing down my spring purchase. Likely between the STR, new KTM 790 Duke (coming in Feb next year?) or Speed R so far. Miss my old 2010 STR and would be pretty excited to get the new one and favouring it over the Speed today, although that changes on a daily basis in my head!
Hi TMF as always a good review. Concerning the headlights there is general thought that numptie car drivers think it's a car in the distance I would think it could be easily changed to have the two on using double filament bulbs. I love the sound.
I heard the single light on dip beam is a "Euro" thing, apparentely so car drivers don't confuse a bike with twin lights for a distant tractor. I've never seen tractor lights that low mind you lol. My 2008 CBF600S had the same arrangement, but the left one was dip beam. Great review as always, RSMF
I don't buy that reasoning (although I have heard it before). Anyway, in this case it's a blown bulb - both lights should be on apparently... and thanks!
Thanks TMF, I enjoyed that review. I don't have the Street Triple R but I do have Speed Triple R that share the same lights and both lights come on when you go from the white daylight running LEDs to yellow main lights. I suspect there is a problem with that bulb. The Striple is great but two things I don't like are those nasty looking plastic mirrors, the bar ends are so much better, and that sticker striping. I would away with them. Quick shifter and heated grips are a must and I would swap the pillion seat for the sports cowl. I would probably get a louder exhaust too. If anyone is thinking of an MT09 over this and use it all year long, I've heard a number of people say they deteriorate badly in the winter. Triumph = quality.
Only one headlight as to not confuse other road users as two headlights would appear to be a car that is further away, as opposed to a motorcycle that is much closer.
At least you had clear roads. The last two days the world turned very white over here with tons of salt on the roads. I'm staying inside until the salt is washed away by rain. Nice bike. I'm also impressed by the new Tiger 1200.
Thanks Mr flyer, this was the video that convinced me to take the 765 R out for a demo ride and I fell in love with it and bought one, after years on Blades, R1s and most recently the bike I thought was perfection the GSX-R750 (until I rode the Street Triple R) I've found the bike that suits me perfectly, now that I'm getting too old for sports bikes, you can have all the fun you want on the R, but in comfort.
Currently I'm riding STR 2013 and was comparing with the newer STR not the RS. It's just an increase of 10hp++. Would it be better for me to get the RS or otherwise.
I have ridden the street triple and absolutely love it. I bought a 2022 speed twin. But I’m looking at the 2023 street triple r to add to my twin. Is it different enough in terms of performance and the type of riding it serves from the twin to a get as a second bike. I know you have a triple as well.
Great review as always, I'm going to be putting a deposit on the black version today, going to have to wait 5 weeks for it tho with no bike to play on!!
I think the new speed triple RS is amazingly good, i drove it and was so happy, this engine is so good, jerk free, really a threat.. almost got one myself .. in the end, choose to go for the R1200GS, another bike im a fan for many years, and now that im much closar to a bmw dealer than a triumph one, got the first one.. hope i be happy with it
RS comes with the solo cowl as well, IIRC? Nice to have someone layout the differences between the RS and the R, as well as how it compares to the previous gen R.
Thanks TMF for another great Video I was about to make a deposit on an RS but might have to change my mind now, seems that the R makes more sense as i'm not big on track days.
I own a white 765R myself. Alas I am not an internet sensation like you. If I was that would have been the video I would have made. Agree that the seat is on the firm side, and the suspension set up is on the sportsbike side of firm. Quickshifter is standard fit on the RS and the R would benefit from one too. Safe riding TMF.
12:13 - you mention you think the exhaust is actually quite cool? It is the same as the RS and you said you think its an ugly exhaust in your RS video. Thoughts changed?
Thanks for this. I looked at this bike at the sydney motorcycle show the other week. Def on my radar and tossing up in this and the S! Thanks bernie in sydney
I'm leaning toward this bike LRH version as 5'2" 135 140 lbs with gear. how does this compare to 821 monster in terms of riding positions. I have not sat down on a ducati but I want to hear your opinions comparing the 2. I probably have to setup the rider sag. Thank you! I Like the format of your review.
Hi TMF, Love the blog been watching since end of 2016 since I finally got around to getting my first bike (Mutt Mongrel 125). So, 3 years and around 25k later, I'm ready to jump to a bigger bike. I've got a budget of five grand and I'm looking at either a SV650 (2017-9) or an older Street Triple (2012-15). I probably know the answer to this which would you recommend, bearing in mind that this'll be my go-t bike for the foreseeable future. I live in north east London and commute to central London each day unless it's icy/snowing, obviously), scratch around the Essex loop on the weekends and do the (very) occasional trip to Cornwall and back to visit the folks.
Well the SV650 is a mighty fine bike for sure but the Street triple is much better (in my opinion_ as I'm sure you guessed I'd say. That said, compared to the 125 either will be a huge leap for the better and you won't be disappointed with either bike...
Another cracking review from TMF .... I was going to get the Bonnie T120 but after your reviews, I will be lifting a Street Triple RS. With a few extra features one might as well jump a level and go for the RS. Thanks again for your quality comments. PS: Love the back streets your riding ... very pretty. Happy Holidays everyone and safe riding. Chars.
I know Im years late to this party but I'm just now able to shop for a this bike. I personally cant stand(!) the whole front light assembly but there is a company called motodemic that makes a single light conversion for this that is *beautiful* and you can get it with LED's so it's bright and modern. The only downside is the price at about $1k usd so I'd have to budget that into what I can spend on purchasing the bike. Anyway, thats for all the info in this video!! It's very helpful to someone shopping.
MT O9, MT O9SP or Triumph Street Triple R? I just cannot decide. Bike Magazine said the SPs suspension was a waste of money (£800 extra)? What do you reckon Mr Missenden.?
Well I'm a Street Triple R fan (so am biased obv).... You can't go wrong with either, go with what you like the look of or what your wallet dictates....
Nice review TMF, can’t wait for your review of the 2018 Tiger 1200, particularly the XRT variant. This bike ticks all of the box’s for me, in particular shaft drive and the new TFT screen. I still blame the speedo on my GS1200 TE for making me attend a speed awareness course for being caught doing 36 in a 30 zone. I find it very difficult on the BM to see the speedo reading. Well, that’s my excuse.
Fantastic stuff. One thing I do not get is how much of a difference the quick shifter makes (I understand it’s only up not down?) compared to clutchless upshifts? I only used clutch on 1st gear on each bike I owned. I mean road use not shaving 10ths on the track... now for a blipper... this I would definitely have.
I hace the RS and QS is really nice thing. Everyone who has one loves it. I just.. like it :) I'm not using it all the time, from 1 to 2 you should use clutch anyway. But it is FANTASTIC thing when you're fully accelerating (e.g. overtaking, not even speaking about track riding). You still have FULL throttle and just - bang - next gear - bang - next gear... and you feel constant PULL/acceleration.
I have 2018 Street Triple R (U.S. version if there is such a thing), both headlights illuminate on mine.
I decided to get this bike after riding my son's 2012 Street Triple R. Both he and I think this 2018 version is a bit better in performance. Farwalker2u I have the same bike and I just am enamored of it. The build quality, power to weight and handling are sublime. Best bike I’ve ever owned.

@@LunchBXcrue totally agree. I'm thinking of buying the old model street triple R for this very reason.

I agree 100%
I love that gauge cluster/screen, one of the best I've seen on a bike. Nice and clear with the main information (speed) as the focus
Agreed...

Another excellent high quality review! Really nice to see you using the second camera too! Adds another dimension! Thanks for all the effort!!
Thanks Jonathan, and it is a whole load of extra effort doing the 2 cam thing, I agree it looks better but a real editing ball-ache...
With the new camera angles you've raised the bar again - well done TMF!!!
Cheers - I do do these 2 cam shoots from time to time, don't get too excited though, they are a PITA to edit!

The V-Strom (since 2012) has a “black-ice” indicator icon. I live in Canada. It’s on a lot.

In AU the S version is the Learner approved version.
must say the best bike reviews on the inter web mate
How very kind of you sir!
Thanks for watching and for stopping buy! All the best - TMF
Love the induction sound when you open her up..... she's a beauty ....
Sounds great doesn't it....half the fun of a Street Triple!
He's a genious.
...actually turns out the bulb on the bike I have is defective Scott - ignore me on that one...
TMF . Bought this model in 2018 LRH. Went to the Bike Shop, saw it, loved it,bought it. Nuff said.
This spring i purchased an RS, and in July add an S due to very few being brought to the US. Over a couple beers decided i needed an R, so i have all 3. They all great bikes, great review
What! That's nuts!! You're obviously a fan then!!
Yes it's nuts, but the red S gets the most compliments. Thought as a reviewer you would find that interesting.
Cheers SDF - hope you get the issues with your Trophy sorted...all the best - TMF
“Professional driver” 😂. You brits crack me up with the never ending dry humor
Jolly good :0)
Just bought a new silver one in Kentucky, USA. Waiting for better weather to really get it out! Love your reviews.
Thanks for watching and for stopping buy! All the best - TMF
TMF loving the dual camera set-up. It really seems to add production value to your videos. A82 Joe
It certainly doesn't add any value to the editing process!
Brilliant review as usual - I see you have changed your mind on the two tone engine covers, as you said you weren't keen when you reviewed the RS. I personally love the way they coloured them.
Yes they are growing on me....
My 2018 street triple R is arriving in a few days! Cannot wait. Pretty sure mine had both lights on as standard when i took it for a test ride though
nigel
Thanks for the triumph triple review really professional videos good idea about heated grips for touring had some fitted
recently keep up the great reviews
Thanks Nigel - appreciate the kind comments - all the best - TMF
Looking forward to getting to test one off these myself early next year. Had a factory at triumph last Friday, a very enjoyable visit there!
Great - did you see my GS??
TheMissendenFlyer can't say I did, maybe they had it hid out of sight 😉
YES YES YES. Your occasional revelation of personal nuance makes it clear we have much in common. In this case it's people who don't use turn indicators; professional drivers indeed! :) The Triple sound is fantastic but Triumph needs to do some thing about the Frankenstein fly-eyes headlight; it's horrendous how they just hang onto the bike like that.
I love em!
Picked up this bike in black a month ago with 3k on it. It came already fitted with the quick shifter. Being that I’m in Seattle, I’ll have the factory heated grips installed this fall. I love this bike!!! Cheers and thanks for all the tip!!
Congratulations!
You mention the relatively tall seat height, however you can also get the R in a low ride height version which helps many people. The RS is only available in the higher seat height. A great overall review again, thanks.
Thanks for the clarification - very good point!
The low ride height option is great selling point for the r :)a shame it's not available for the rs model :(
I've owned the 765 R since June and i love it.
Thanks for the feedback and yes it seems the bike I have does have a blown bulb (I shall report back tot Triumph!)
Thinking of trading in my MT07 for this. I've done 4 years on the MT, I think its time
See it has Pirelli diablos on it my favourite all rounders. Feel confidence in adverse dampish conditions. On my bucket list to try one of these.
AND ITS THE BEST STREET BIKE OUT THERE AND ITS BRITISH!!!!!!
Superb bike and review. I agree with you on the lights and grips and also i suspect the lack of illuminated buttons.
From what i can see a really accomplished bike straight out of the box 👍
Time for Santa to step up , if only 😆
Another excellent and informative review. I used to have one of the very first street triples with the round head lights and loved it to bits. Thanks TMF
Cheers - always good to have you along! All the best - TMF
As always a great review, I have a 2015 Tiger 1050, and agree about the triple engine..
Yes it would be perfect for those roads!
Great review. Bike looks brilliant. Triumph look to have done a great job on it. Thinking the R would be the better buy over the RS. Unless u do track days. Which i dont. Just road riding. 👍🏻🏍
One of the best street bikes out there.
Very true.....love mine
Great review of a lovely bike! I’m thoroughly enjoying my 2017 (previous model) Street Triple R especially now we’re heading into summer over here in NZ. Sounds like they’ve moved most things forward a notch and one or two (e.g the brakes and screen) on a whole lot!
Yep they are nice improvements but the bike is fundamentally the same to ride - just a great fun bike, enjoy the Summer Andy (well jeal!)....
Triumph's finest bike range . I've owned 3 .. A second hand '57 plate original in roulette green which was in such demand and short supply at the time I paid more than new list price for.
….A brand new '09 in black which was £ 5800 at the time,
…..and just found a mint '09 "R" in matte graphite, 1 owner with 9000 miles on it for £3300 .. a definite keeper !
Nice one David, you are clearly a huge fan!
I prefer the Street Triple by some margin...the KTM is good value though...
Stay safe.
Correct Paul, this was the week before last - as I look out of my window now it is snowing hard (has been constantly for the last 2 days) and we have about 8 inches of snow lying :0(
Stay warm and safe.
Loving the new camera angle
Cheers James, it's not actually new but glad you noticed it :0)
Aye, great review again mate.
Yes I have heard that too - though in this case it's a faulty bulb....
Love the Street Triple - what a great all-round bike and excellent review as always. Rock on Moto 2 😎
Cheers!
Dougie I haven't even checked mine (sad to say). Rode it at dusk and illumination seemed fine on dip and full beam. Have to check it out now 🤔
Agreed all round Dougie - thanks for watching as ever - TMF
Looks like a faulty bulb, it's not the only new gen model to have suffered it either, I've heard of a couple on reviews having blown them.
Only one headlight as to not confuse other road users as two headlights would appear to be a car that is further away, as opposed to a motorcycle that is much closer.
No, it's a faulty bulb Big T, why would they only have one light on some bikes and not others. I have have both working on mine.
At least you had clear roads. The last two days the world turned very white over here with tons of salt on the roads. I'm staying inside until the salt is washed away by rain.
Nice bike. I'm also impressed by the new Tiger 1200.
Yeah - we have about 7 inches of laying snow today!
Told you it was good!
You certainly did, I also took your advice about fitting a quick shifter which makes that wail from the exhaust even more addictive.
Yes I’d say so - as you say I had both for ms y years…
“No indicators, professional driver...okay let’s not get into that” xDDD
Brilliant review as always TMF. Cheers!
I just love the sound of them triple👍😀
Great review as always, I'm going to be putting a deposit on the black version today, going to have to wait 5 weeks for it tho with no bike to play on!!
Exciting times though eh! Congratulations....
Well it turns out everything has worked out for a change and I'm picking the new pride and joy up tomorrow morning ..... Exciting times!! 🏍💨
I think the new speed triple RS is amazingly good, i drove it and was so happy, this engine is so good, jerk free, really a threat.. almost got one myself .. in the end, choose to go for the R1200GS, another bike im a fan for many years, and now that im much closar to a bmw dealer than a triumph one, got the first one.. hope i be happy with it
.....the answer of course, is to have both....
That is a lovely exhaust note.
Isn't it just Scott :0)
RS comes with the solo cowl as well, IIRC?
Nice to have someone layout the differences between the RS and the R, as well as how it compares to the previous gen R.
Great stuff - cheers for watching - TMF
Thanks TMF for another great Video
I was about to make a deposit on an RS but might have to change my mind now, seems that the R makes more sense as i'm not big on track days.
Definitely worth you having a go - the saved £1000 pays for a lot of fuel...
I've got the new R and the extra torque down low is definitely worth not getting the rs
lovely bike ,great review as always
I own a white 765R myself. Alas I am not an internet sensation like you. If I was that would have been the video I would have made. Agree that the seat is on the firm side, and the suspension set up is on the sportsbike side of firm. Quickshifter is standard fit on the RS and the R would benefit from one too. Safe riding TMF.
..as I think I said DJ? ;0P
Now you have tried this and the Duke 790 where would your money go?
I too am eyeing up these two? Did you choose one of them, and if so why?
Beautiful bike 😍
12:13 - you mention you think the exhaust is actually quite cool? It is the same as the RS and you said you think its an ugly exhaust in your RS video. Thoughts changed?
I reserve the right to change my mind ;0)
TheMissendenFlyer awesome!
My dash changes to dim or brighter depending on under shade or brighter light.
Thanks for this. I looked at this bike at the sydney motorcycle show the other week. Def on my radar and tossing up in this and the S! Thanks bernie in sydney
You'll love either - cheers Bernie....TMF
Love that engine sound!
Me too :0)
I'm leaning toward this bike LRH version as 5'2" 135 140 lbs with gear. how does this compare to 821 monster in terms of riding positions.
TheMissendenFlyer brilliant thanks! Well, they say the best things come in threes. Or something. 🙂
@@TheMissendenFlyer After all that I've now got a 2016 Street Twin which came with Tec rear shocks and slip ons. Just taken the baffles out.... 🤘
Chars.
Same to you!
Well done. I’d love to give this bike a try.
Glad to be of use!
In your xsr900 review, I got the impression you preferred it over the Triumph. Is it still the case with this model? 😬
Err, close one, I’d have to ride the XSR again....
As always quality work 👍
Thank you....
Question for you TMF; 2017-18 street triple R, RS or MT-09. What would you recommend? Bike will be used for brisk road rides and a bit of touring
Street Triple R
Looks a lovely bike ,nice to see the beautiful rds of the chilterns around Chequers /butlers cross , I think Bucks has some fantastic biking rds
Well spotted....
Very good review as always....but I like the speed triple better!
Yes and a good excuse it is too! ...the SatNav does help with that and is a whole lot cheaper than buying a new Tiger 1200!
Ordered myself the low version of this the other day. Thanks again for the review! :-)
Me too.
I'm also getting a street triple I'm excited
You think it can compete with a r6
Thruxton R (which I have in Oz) has heated grips only as an option, not standard
Aha, thanks for the clarification Martin...
TheMissendenFlyer no probs, happy to help. Love your work 😊
