Quick comment just to congratulate you on the increased amount of videos you've been uploading. Great to see you putting in the time and the effort. And it shows. The more videos, the better the editing, the better the script, and all round quality improves by every video you put out. Keep em coming mate. Cheers.
That headlight has got to be wired improperly, there's no way that's working as intended. Great video as always, love how you bring the day-to-day stuff to attention, instead of just focusing on performance and what have you.
I think that its pretty clear what they have done, they have gone the route of the sequential gearbox, i believe that the reason they have done that is due to the fact that if you are riding with full beam on and you have to flick to dipped beam and vice versa it would be easier to push the control the full direction one way or the other when riding without any fiddling to get it to the "mid" point.
I have owned a 2020 RS for 4 months now. Amazing bike. I rode the KTM 890, Z900, MT09 SP, ect. Nothing had the polish of the Street Triple. and the looks do it for me. only two small niggles, the bar end mirrors vibrate above 60-70 MPH , and at its normal operating temperature it puts off quite alot of heat.
No one does reviews like this but you TMF. It's one of my favorite things about you - totally practical and even handed. On my GenII 2013 Street Triple R they have rubber caps on the swingarm pivots. I use the same ABBA stand you have and it is details like you pointing those little caps out over the RS's pivot. Also, detailing the light function... just real world stuff that truly matters to someone that owns and uses their bike rather than this almost universal fascination with track oriented HP ratings and acceleration that everyone else gets wrapped up in and not much more. Thanks for doing what you do.
Agreed .... you the only one I go to when I want to get the guff. Nice work and keep them coming ... Oh... do u have one for the 2018 model? Merry Xmas too!
I've had one of these for two weeks now and love it but my rear seat popped off on a ride out at weekend. has anyone else had this problem?great review.best on UA-cam
I own one of these beauties so i know for a fact it has a temperature guage. perhaps you forgot to tick the box of what to show in the infobar? keep up the good work.
Hi TMF! Long time lurker here! Just a note to say thanks for all the inspiration and information. Completed my DAS Mod 2 today so hoping to acquire a steed really soon. Aiming for a Street Triple within the year. Really enjoy your channel, thanks again.
Just purchased one of these. Waiting for it to be PDI'd. Love your video. Love the presentation. And moreover, very informative. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Great work on the vid TMF! I’ve just started riding bikes January ‘18, and your videos have helped me understand the array of options and knits and knacks of the motorcycle market. I’m totally sold on the 765rs and hoping to upgrade to one of them beauties some time soon, and this vid has definitely explained in detail what it’d be like living with a 765rs! Kee up the good work mate!
I got the bike soon after this video came out. Months later, I got a letter from triumph that said the bike was being recalled for a switch gear issue. I’m bringing it in this weekend to get it replaced so hopefully the switch will be reversed back to ‘normal’.
Thanks much appreciated review. I'm previously had 13' 675 and loved it. But didn't ride due to work commitments. Just looked at 765 RS. Seems to tick all the boxes. I concur about the light front end tipping in.
I can only assume TMF didn’t take this above 8000rpm, because believe me, once you do, the 765 engine is miles faster than the previous model. Certainly on a similar level to the Daytona. That’s from experience too. The R model has the more usable down low torque but this thing is more “peaky”. Very addictive.
You do have a temperature gauge. It is in the information tray, it comes after the screen contrast and is labeled coolant temperature. Also those plugs in the swing arm are also in the R version.
Very kind of you to say so! That is the beauty of getting a bike a little longer than just for a test ride, you do get to really learn what they're about...
im loving my gray rs 765, i put a +2 bigger sprocket on the rear and its now much better around town. I plan on an exhaust but not sure about spending over $500 for a yoshi
Yet again a top review. I love the little detail. For example as an Abba stand fan, the tip about the swing arm pivot plate would be useful to know as it adds to the faff when popping it on the stand for cleaning. Laughed my socks off when you mentioned about being all in Triumph gear at the garage. Tart I thought (with the greatest respect of course) especially as that's what I'm like😀😀
...well it's not often that I'm quite that coordinated and that old Triumph kit of mine rarely gets an airing these days (I bought it when I ran the Tiger 1050)....glad I'm not the only tart :0)
Thank you Neil, well I try and point out the sorts of things I take into account when buying a bike, on the assumption that others are pretty much the same...not something you get in the magazines very often I reckon...thanks for the kind words - TMF
The light switch is correct, the down position is dipped beam as it shows via the symbol and push forward for the daylight running lights. That symbol is a light with dotted lines. It shows on the dash only when drl’s on to remind you. Works great on my triumph.
TheMissendenFlyer Ideally they should of flipped the switch round so the drl setting was at the bottom and the lights up but once you get used to it it’s fine. Keep up the great videos 👍🏻
Quick side note regarding the flash trigger for full beam.......in DRL Only mode...the flasher works as its supposed to...its only in dipped beam mode does it activate and keep on the main beam. odd sure but worth knowing
Excellent review and great video, your production skills are improving leaps and bounds. For these long term reviews perhaps a few words on service intervals and expected costs. Appreciate your efforts, cheers.
Took a test ride on one of these today, couldn't fault it really, awesome looking, light, good power, however just didn't gel with the bike, gear lever probably needed moved a tad, but found i was thinking about negotiating bends etc, although a lovely sound up the revs, found the engine sound annoying at low revs, so just a personal thing, also tested a Yamaha MT10, immediately felt at home, for a big bike it was like a baby in traffic, easy to filter and extremely comfortable, but then you have awesome power on tap. So easy to go from toodling around in traffic to r1 performance. Loved it.
i just saw the brand new street triple when i was going home, reallllllllllllllllllly love the new headlight, if i have the spare cash and time, this is definitely my first choice for a second bike
Fantastic review as always TMF! Going to keep hold of my 14' Streety R for a good few years yet. No harm in putting my name down for a test ride of the new rs though.
Great review as always. When you buy a RS the dealer provides you with a pillion seat that you click in so they cover that, and from memory it has a grab handle on it. Agree tail tidy and can definitely need replacing. Frame protectors are quite a nice addition too. Lovely shots of Wycombe and the Chilterns.
Tuscan Moto try stokenchurch and then when you get there from west Wycombe take a left towards Marlow and then enjoy that 7 miles stretch of superb roads up to the Town Centre - top tip!
How was the supercorsas in the wet ive always heard they are not good. I have M9RR but thought about Supercorsa or Racetech RR i mainly ride in the dryand heard they are more grippy for dry conditions, but somtimes get caught out.
The padded pillion seat (which is included with the bike, don't let them swipe it from you) has the strap. I covered the ambient light sensor to stop the auto switching. I do think they should have had a screen with coolant temp + trip/odo + miles left all at once. The drl switch is the right way around ... you don't need a dash light to tell you the main lights are on, you need a dash light to remind you only the drls are on.
Wow, this is a great video dude - so many points covered! Gorgeous bike but i agree about the headlights, these are definitely an eyesore. It's like buying a Porsche 911 with a Pontiac Aztec headlight - they just don't fit the rest of the bike. I also don't like the light pattern at night with so many lines all over the place. I would love to see a nice set of projectors or LEDs that hopefully don't stick out so far forward
Great review TMF and totally agree with the suitability of the triple for commuting. For me, better than any large capacity V-twin. Nice to see the practical points being addressed which you don't get in many reviews. A lovely bike! Will you swap your old Street for a new one?
Hi TMF, Great review! Had my bike a month now and loving it. In regards to the headlight switch being the wrong way round, there is a reason for it, the light on the dash is actually labelled in the manual as a DRL (Daytime running Light), this is so you know that you are in DRL mode if its dark out. If you have it the other way round, there thinking is that it may alert you to the fact your in the wrong lights. Or so my dealer told me.
Oh I agree.... Does seem odd. But that is apparently the reasoning behind it... I have found that you can tell, light on dash or not if you have the wrong lights on. Common sense that one, but I guess some rule/law for it.
Great video as I am looking to buy this bike. Was an interesting comment about not having a temperature gauge. I rode the small boys hire track bike which was a track conversion of this bike and they got rid of them due to them always overheating and blowing gaskets every 5 minutes.
The light on the dash is on when daytime running lights are being used. This is the same on my 2017 speed triple.and I think is meant to be this way as most people like myself ride during daylight hours and I think the DRL's are better seen during this time. It does say in manual it is this way. Keep up with excellent videos you do ! Loved ya Scotland ones 👍👍
Great review and really enjoyed it as i always do with yours. one thing about the power. At first, i am an owner, i felt the power at lower revs was good but not dramatic improvement (i had a daytona previous to this and a str before that) while running in the bike. After run in though i discovered its a much more powerful and very fast bike once you get above 6k rpm and hang on at higher revs :)
Yes I imagine the additional power is top end...but what's the use of that on the road? I'd rather they'd spread it lower down the rev range for real world use.....
Valid point. i hear the r model does this. you might want to review the dyno mcn did where it showed actual hp of 126 and lb/ft of 59. For me though the power is better than my 2014 str and the handling and fueling on the new bike is vastly better than previous version which was quite snatchy on off. Brakes are fantastic and the rear shock is excellent compared to the hard rock the last model had. the headlights are also a big improvement in performance over older version of str
It's one of those things you don't realise with motorcycles 'cos of how you adapt to the wear. Hope you enjoy the new boots for your Triple when you get 'em!
Great overview sir! Couple of points I want to touch on that you brought up. 1 - The buttons and their feel. That is one of the things I love about my 2015 Striple, is the very positive feel of the clicker. You know when you have indicated, and canceled. No faffing about. 2 - The lights. I like the new design. For people that really love the old dual headlights, motodemic makes an awesome looking pair of round headlights for our generation of Striples (a bit pricey though) 3 - The power. That really surprised me! Glad you touched on it. One of the only reasons I would switch to the new one. Have you ever ridden the MV Agusta Brutale 800? I would be really curious to see how the new Striple compares. Thank you MissendenFlyer
I see that others have said the light indication makes sense how they've done it - anything other than "standard" lighting gives a notification. I have the 765 R - didn't want quick shifting as should you end up using a bike without it you're asking for trouble. Also the R has a pillion seat. I've not experienced the glare you mentioned with the TFT. Also there is a temperature gauge on the coolant section of the TFT (I'm sure it's not for the amount of coolant as it's in Celsius) .
Very nice! Ive had my 2008 street tripple, the good old original with twin round lights and twin under seat exhausts for a good six years now and i love it!!! But i think i may part ex it for one of these !!!
TheMissendenFlyer, basically my 2008 has high mileage and generally seen better days as i used to commute on it 365 days a year regardless of weather. And thus it has very rusty bolts and down pipes. Think i just fancy something new that i can keep in pristine condition now i work in oxford but live in yorkshire i commute in my diesel car now.
Be fair to the 675 its done me extremely well only problem it ever gave me was when wiring loom went and i put a new one in... now has 2 keys haha as i didnt want to buy a matching lock set for fuel tank and seat when i broke the ignition lock by accident when taking it off the loom !!! Oops
Mmmmm the lights seem strange, my speed S day runners has the green light on the dash when the lights are switched off, dipped beam no dash light then main beam blue dash. I'm off to test ride that bike soon and see how it compares
With all the Technology in that Display why dont they have Sat Nav built in? There isn't the space to have a Tom Tom on the handle bars. Great review :)
I would like to add that you cannot put a big security chain through the swing arm as far as I'm aware, like you can with some of the earlier models. 16mm Almax minimum requirement for security of course.
Been looking forward to your long term review of this bike. I still prefer the look of 2011 STR, Like yours in black and gold. Many thanks for the review
hi I've still got the old street triple and find it slow at over taking or getting up to motorway speeds with a passenger onboard. Is the new version any better for riding 2up? or should I just get the speed triple or a 1200cc bike? Thanks good video!
Had mine now for 4 years and i love the bike but it doesn't come without some serious issues that unfortunately triumph are just not interested in. The minor issues are that water seeps into the left grip and it starts to swell. The exhaust placement is an absolute trouble to clean and the tyres the bike came with aren't meant for the street roads in my opinion. The amount of recalls on this was alarming as was the state of the brembo pads which i had removed because they had corroded. The biggest problem however was the quickshifter. After 2 years it stopped working, it had completely rotted the sensor to where it was actually dangerous to ride the motorcycle, it would perform a jerking action as if it was being engaged when you were riding, it had the potential to cause an accident or worse. If you cornered and this happened, it had the potential to throw you off the bike. What's worse is a replacement can go the same way and you have no choice but to. You can't remove it and replace it with a gear rod or the motorcycle will dish out a warning light and put you into limp mode. It's frustrating that what is supposed to be an accessory on other motorcycles can intermittently wipe this bike out altogether. Triumph seem to want to be oblivious to it and if you didn't have a trusting sense of understanding or know anyone who did that serviced your motorcycle, then Triumph are quite willing to put you through the rigmarole of charging you 800 quid to go through a procedure which can be identified by anyone who is mechanically sound enough. I didn't expect after sales to be this bad but hey ho, i was lucky not to fall into their trap. Other than this major issue i do love the bike. I like the way it sounds, the way it handles, the complete versatility of this bike when fitted with michelin road 5s is absolutely outstanding. I love the fact its easy to maintain and its just appealing to the eye. Especially the colour in this video, which is the one i have. I don't think i would of gone for any other. About the looks, the biggest set back now is that this is the last model you'll fall in love with, because fron 2019, this 765 has gotten ugly and from 2021 its depressing. I took a trip up to my local dealership and saw the 2021 edition of the 765 and me and one of the staff both agreed that triumph are very excessive with their decals. They are plastered with them. So much so they have 765 decalled plastered on the rims , as if you wanted to know what cc your bike was just by looking at them. On the body of the motorcycle the raised triumph lettering has been replaced with the insignia you find at the front wheel arch on the 2017 model. It's in all of its laziness just a sticker slapped on the tank as are the 20 other red lines going up through the body work. I also don't go fondly on the new colour schemes, which are glossy silver and no longer matte, but i guess that's personal preference and they've re configured the headlights again which doesn't do it much justice from the front either. I'll keep this model for as a long i can, it's unfortunate i won't be looking into buying a street triple ever again after owning 2 previous models. I love the way this is built, i love the feel of how it rides but i think with all the recalls and the issue I've experienced with the quick shifter, i can't help but think Triumph are definitely cutting corners. To me that's only adamant from their drive to drag the arse out of updating the 765 3 times since 2017. So much so they've destroyed the look and integrity the street triple once had.
thanks for your detailed comment, I kind struggle more to buy one, I was advised to look for 2017 and up. even so many disantvadeges, i even can't think what is the alternate model for Triple, I drove once and still feel how shocked i was when i even sited on it, so fluffy, light i can't find words, can't describe turning, cornering. I guess i'm in a trubble. it's a second week of searching and watching auctions, checking photos and some kind thing in my back telling me, you may regret, but on the other side, my soul just wants to have it.
@@GB600RR Another alternative with be Yamaha MT series. Thats the closest you'll get to the street triple, but I personally wouldn't buy one. The Yamaha MT is out matched in everything the triple offers and it's one hell of an ugly looking bike. My advice is to buy a 675 model. No problems with any electronics and it's just a beautiful piece of machinery that won't be hampered by all the Chinese electronics Triumph are into these days.
In reference to fuel, you should always use premium fuel (97/98 Ron) as they have very low or no ethanol in them. 95 Ron fuels have 10% ethanol in them, which could be rising in content. Ethanol can damage plastic components in the fuel system, and can cause swelling in plastic fuel tanks. There was a mention of it in July's ride magazine ( page 81), funnily enough the article is about triumph speed triples.
Thanks for another balanced real world review TMF, much appreciated. I'm due to do a back to back test ride on the RS Striple and the Speedy soon. I have a feeling the Speedy might prove the winner for touring options and an even better all round bike. Your negative points even have a nice tone but I get the impression this bike didn't float your boat as much as maybe it should?
In the next video I compare the new "RS" directly with my old 2012 "R" - all will become clear! :0) Will be interested to hear how you think the Speedy compares to the Street....enjoy...
I wish it had a GPS map option for the screen. It just makes sense. In fact make the screen android or mac compatible so you can see incoming calls/messages, speed alerts, etc.
Nice review. Totally agree on the backlit switch thing; I find it frustrating. My Goldwing 1800 had backlit switches in 2005 but my current RT or GS don't. Bizarrely I seem to recall that my 2007 RT did have them...but I'm getting long in the tooth so that may be cobblers :)
With the headlight light on the dash I am sure that is the same with the GS... when just the daytime running light is on there is the green light on the right of the dash, when the main lights go on that light goes out... the only real difference is we just have automatic lights or a push a switch to turn on the lights and not the toggle the Triumph has.
Possibly - personally I never run with just the DRL's, I have my aux lights on, dip beam and my aux-aux lights on all the time....as I like to be seen :0)
An old video so not sure if you read the comments, i wondered how the heat is off the engine on warmer days? Im currently cooking myself on an air/oil cooled Ducati scrambler and that is horrrific in summer heat in town.
I can't see very clearly from the video but the dimple on the top of the tank worries me a teeny bit. Is it self draining i.e. slanted forward or will it cause a puddle to accumulate if in rain? Thanks for the review, I loved my Tiger 800 I had. Good solid build.
TheMissendenFlyer I got a 2016 R1200GS, luggage and Navigator V. Really happy with my choice. Believe it or not but in Victoria, Australia, motorcycle registration costs around $700 per year so there's only place for one bike in the garage. Car rego is also around $750. Quite ridiculous. In South Africa I had 4 bikes.
Hi Mr MissendenFlyer do you know or have seen the protection for the triumph street triple rs (frame protectors, engine cover protectors, swing arm protector) what is your genuine view on them? i will be getting a rs i just asking would it be good to get protection on the bike. Cheers
can u pls review Honda 650f 2017 version pls...Love the way you cover angles which is very unique on you tube..pls keep doing such videos on other bikes too
Hello Missenden Flyer, if you have to choose one bike for next 5 years as your only bike. I am dubbing between Street triple RS 765 and the BMW nine t (normal black version). What to choose?
Cracking review as ever, although (admittedly not watched any other of your vids for ages), is it worth the £1500 more than the previous "top" model that was the 13-16 675R? Personally I'm not sold on looks and colours. I think the reds on the outgoing R made it stand out, the colours on the RS don't do much for me. Cheers!
A few questions: 1. Is the quickshifter up AND down? 2. How does it do at prolonged highway speeds (70-90 mph)? I realize that all nakeds have very little wind protection but sometimes the ergos and the bike shape put you into a "clean" airstream with not much buffeting and others it feels like you're in a boxing match. 3. Are the pillion pegs removable? I can't tell if they're integrated into the subframe or if the fasteners are just on the inside.
1 - No up only 2 - Fine, no buffetting 3 - Can't remember (bike back at Triumph now) - certainly they were removable on previous versions so I suspect they are...
Let's get this straight, light switch OFF - dipped beam, light switch ON - running lights only? Sounds crazy...is this correct? Also, I have a flasher switch on my Rx, this has been done away with?
Couple of questions if I may? Did you need to buy new adaptors for your Abba stand? What make and model is your tyre pressure gauge? And finally what make and model is the blowy off of H20 thingamebob? Great in depth review again. Still loving this bike and still very tempted 😊
Thanks mate. A great real world review. I used to own a ST - a 2012 model, same as yours. I have read that the new one you have there has more power up high, and tends to miss out on bottom end. Is this so? How does the power delivery compare with the 2012? Rgds Glenn
+Troppo Yes I think you're probably right, no real lack of power low down I noticed but no more either, I suspect it's lurking top end (but what's the point of that on a road bike?)....
Quick comment just to congratulate you on the increased amount of videos you've been uploading. Great to see you putting in the time and the effort. And it shows. The more videos, the better the editing, the better the script, and all round quality improves by every video you put out. Keep em coming mate. Cheers.
Thank you very much - I'm glad you noticed :0)
I got pretty nervous, myself, at 5:31 when you rode in the dark with the lights off! Great review!
This is what a long-term motorbike review is supposed to look like, big kudos to you TMF!
Thank you :0)
That headlight has got to be wired improperly, there's no way that's working as intended.
Great video as always, love how you bring the day-to-day stuff to attention, instead of just focusing on performance and what have you.
Mine is the same way, really wierd but you get used to it in notime. not an issue.
Yes exactly - very odd but practically not a problem once you're aware of it...
Everyone is making alot of presumptions - there is no excuse not to fix this issue Triumph. Headlamp operation shouldn't be a mystery - Triumph Fan
The point that i was trying to make is that it is not nesessarily an issue.
I have owned a 2020 RS for 4 months now. Amazing bike. I rode the KTM 890, Z900, MT09 SP, ect. You and Baron are my favourite bike channels on UA-cam! thanks for the content
Wow, high praise indeed - thank you....
Ryan B Agreed. Top stuff
i second that !
you forgot RJ
Agreed .... you the only one I go to when I want to get the guff. Nice work and keep them coming ... Oh... do u have one for the 2018 model? Merry Xmas too!
Haven’t seen a review at night with this bike !!! Thank you so much for doing this
Glad to be of help....
I've had one of these for two weeks now and love it but my rear seat popped off on a ride out at weekend. has anyone else had this problem?great review.best on UA-cam
Oo err! ...and thanks :0)
I own one of these beauties so i know for a fact it has a temperature guage.
perhaps you forgot to tick the box of what to show in the infobar?
keep up the good work.
Yes I can't believe it doesn't have one - I just never found it!
theoneandonlymCa yup it has a coolant gauge
I confirm it has a temp gauge. Just go to left or right, it's like a volume bar.
Hi TMF! Long time lurker here! Just a note to say thanks for all the inspiration and information. Completed my DAS Mod 2 today so hoping to acquire a steed really soon. Aiming for a Street Triple within the year. Really enjoy your channel, thanks again.
Hey congratulations and welcome to the world of Biking! Don't be a stranger.....
Just purchased one of these. Waiting for it to be PDI'd. Love your video. Love the presentation. And moreover, very informative. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Thank you for watching and for the kind words!

Brilliant as always TMF. I have really enjoyed all you coverage on the Street Triple, now to test ride one :)
I've got one more to come on the new bike v the old...stay tuned!
Thanks much appreciated review. I'm previously had 13' 675 and loved it. But didn't ride due to work commitments.
Just looked at 765 RS. Seems to tick all the boxes. I concur about the light front end tipping in.
Today this Triumph is revealed as Bike of the Year 2017 here in Denmark
Nice....
Brilliant vid, these are getting better and better you should be very proud, well done 😀
Thank you Mark....
These reviews are next level wow! Great job and fantastic content where many other reviewers fall short.
Wow, thanks!
Nice machine I had a 2015 treet trple R and loved it, I am not keen on the dull matt paint finishes on the RS.
You do have a temperature gauge. It is in the information tray, it comes after the screen contrast and is labeled coolant temperature. Also those plugs in the swing arm are also in the R version.
Yes thanks - never spotted that, knew it must be there somewhere!
another fantastic review! so many great bits of information you won't find anywhere else.

Really good review, the little things you point out do count when thinking about buying a bike. Good work.
Thank you Neil, well I try and point out the sorts of things I take into account when buying a bike, on the assumption that others are pretty much the same...not something you get in the magazines very often I reckon...thanks for the kind words - TMF
Great review. Triples always look nice and great strong design. And that triple sound yes! Cheers to you all.
Cheers..
The light switch is correct, the down position is dipped beam as it shows via the symbol and push forward for the daylight running lights. That symbol is a light with dotted lines. It shows on the dash only when drl’s on to remind you. Works great on my triumph.
Doesn’t seem too logical to me! Thanks for watching!!
Thanks - another nice review. I get the impression you're not rushing to trade yours...!
....well, wait and see ;0)
Excellent review. All the nitpicks are necessary, as for some they're bigger things than for others.
Excellent review and great video, your production skills are improving leaps and bounds. For these long term reviews perhaps a few words on service intervals and expected costs. Appreciate your efforts, cheers.
Thank you very much - I'm certainly no expert at this stuff and I have limited video kit and editing skills but as they say, practice makes perfect!
Loved it.
Another great video. Love these new tft screens being fitted to new bikes, just a shame they don't incorporate . sat nav. Once again well played mate
Thank you John - I have a feeling the new one on the BMW GSA does just that - seems an obvious thing to do to me...
Another fantastic review Mr F ..very in depth keep up the good work 😊
Thank you Keith - will try my best!
i just saw the brand new street triple when i was going home, reallllllllllllllllllly love the new headlight, if i have the spare cash and time, this is definitely my first choice for a second bike
Good idea! :0)
Fantastic review as always TMF! Going to keep hold of my 14' Streety R for a good few years yet. No harm in putting my name down for a test ride of the new rs though.
Indeed.....
Thanks for the intelligent and informative review! Hope that Triumph takes note of your comments. Well done!
+Pip Piperade Thank you Pip - appreciate the kind words - TMF
Spotted the RAF flying suit!
I pick my '19 up on Thursday! My biggest gripe with aesthetics is swapping the subframe's red paint out for the silver.
Congratulations! Exciting times eh?
Great review as always. When you buy a RS the dealer provides you with a pillion seat that you click in so they cover that, and from memory it has a grab handle on it. Agree tail tidy and can definitely need replacing. Frame protectors are quite a nice addition too. Lovely shots of Wycombe and the Chilterns.
Cheers Faraz - "Lovely shots of Wycombe"....is that even possible??? ;0)
Well that's West Wycombe, another thing all together (and rather lovely)....
Tuscan Moto try stokenchurch and then when you get there from west Wycombe take a left towards Marlow and then enjoy that 7 miles stretch of superb roads up to the Town Centre - top tip!
Tuscan Moto bingo - that's the one. Also the run along Dunsmore through to missenden is a lovely run too!
+Faraz So that is where the name comes from, mystery over, for me :)
Cheers xorbe2 - good to have you along!
Agreed! ...and thanks!
Great review TMF and totally agree with the suitability of the triple for commuting. For me, better than any large capacity V-twin. Nice to see the practical points being addressed which you don't get in many reviews. A lovely bike! Will you swap your old Street for a new one?
Nope - see next video for details!
I so want that video !!! Thats my biggest debate right now
Excellent review. Especially appreciate the points at the end.
Great - glad you approve :0)
Amazing in-depth review. Thanks so much for the upload.
You're very welcome Deepak, glad you liked it - TMF
the pillion seat has a strap, and the coolant/ temp gague is available when you left or right click the joystick, perhaps look in the options!
I got mine with the tail tidy fitted plus the small led indicators, and other options. looks a lot better.
Jolly good!
Mmmmm, I failed there - I knew it would be in there somewhere!
RTFM!
Steven Archer 😂😂😂😂
Nice overview man.. covered everything!
Thank you sir...
I recently tested one of these, and I was utterly sold on it. So much so that I'm considering swapping out my 2016 R1 for one, it's that good 👍
Wow, high praise indeed!
Still seems illogical to me!
Oh I agree.... Does seem odd. But that is apparently the reasoning behind it... I have found that you can tell, light on dash or not if you have the wrong lights on. Common sense that one, but I guess some rule/law for it.
Nice "real world'" long term test. I think I'll have to do a similar one for my GSA now!
Cheers Richard...
Needs some of our 765 carbon on it!
Great video, really enjoying your content.
Thank you - great to have you along and thanks for stopping by once again...all the best - TMF
another great review, what a great biking life you lead
Thanks Robert...is that how it seems :0)
Great video as I am looking to buy this bike. Was an interesting comment about not having a temperature gauge. I rode the small boys hire track bike which was a track conversion of this bike and they got rid of them due to them always overheating and blowing gaskets every 5 minutes.
How interesting!
Great video as always buddy. Always like your point of view on things
Thanks...and great to hear from you again, it's been a while!
Yes it is meant to be that way, just seems counter intuitive to me.,...
Maybe it's so ya have not got a green light shining at ya at night. Ps Are you going to the Triumph Ace Cafe run ?
Would love to get one of these best triumph yet great review 👍
Loved it! Hope you have enjoyed your time with her!
Sure did, made me remember why I bought a Street Triple in the first place (and how in need of new rubber mine is/was ;0)
It's one of those things you don't realise with motorcycles 'cos of how you adapt to the wear.
For people that really love the old dual headlights, motodemic makes an awesome looking pair of round headlights for our generation of Striples (a bit pricey though)
3 - The power. That really surprised me! Glad you touched on it. One of the only reasons I would switch to the new one. Have you ever ridden the MV Agusta Brutale 800? I would be really curious to see how the new Striple compares.
Thank you MissendenFlyer
+SineOccasu Thanks for that - and no I've not ridden the MV, would love to though (just in case they're listening!)....
+Kryss Perry-Bartlett Jolly good - cheers - TMF
nice detailed review. how about fuel consumption as compared to the pervious generation 675R
I think I mentioned the range seemed to be better to me - I seemed to get about 20 miles extra per tank....
Very nice! Ive had my 2008 street tripple, the good old original with twin round lights and twin under seat exhausts for a good six years now and i love it!!! But i think i may part ex it for one of these !!!
+Daniel Hobbs Out of interest what about the new bike makes you want to part ex???
I think you're going to like the bike Lambo - enjoy and thanks for watching...
With all the Technology in that Display why dont they have Sat Nav built in? There isn't the space to have a Tom Tom on the handle bars. Great review :)
Thanks...and yes, built in satnav has to be the next thing surely....
Thanks for the upload, loved the review.
Cheers Gary - appreciated....
how many bikes do you have?
Currently 4....how about you? ...and thrilled you watch my channel by the way - thanks :0)
just one, I am afraid. I gotta get to UK.
If you do look me up and you can come and ride my bikes!
I would like to add that you cannot put a big security chain through the swing arm as far as I'm aware, like you can with some of the earlier models. 16mm Almax minimum requirement for security of course.
Good point....
Is there a conversation to a single headlight available? Nice bike but I don't like the twin h/lights
Not that I'm aware of but it's possible! Personally I love the twin lights but I know they do split opinions....
Been looking forward to your long term review of this bike. I still prefer the look of 2011 STR, Like yours in black and gold.
Many thanks for the review
Me too :0) One more video to go on the RS - comparing it directly with my 2012 R....stay tuned!
I have a 2004 speed triple love the sound and build quality 955i is my model no
I want one, such a desirable bike, better get a lottery ticket and start going to church and pray :)
:0)
It isn’t that expensive. Save some money and buy used.
@@TeensierPython 10.000$ in madrid ,used. i would say it is not cheap.
hi
I've still got the old street triple and find it slow at over taking or getting up to motorway speeds with a passenger onboard.
Is the new version any better for riding 2up?
or should I just get the speed triple or a 1200cc bike?
Thanks good video!
Came looking for an in-depth review. WOW 11/10
Glad you approve :0)
Thanks for that John...
Yes 100% agree.....
Hi TMF, love the review. Can I ask, the warm air blower that you use, what make and model is it?
It's one of these amzn.to/2LdqcH7
Thank you.
Liking your vernacular there Nige...
With the headlight light on the dash I am sure that is the same with the GS... when just the daytime running light is on there is the green light on the right of the dash, when the main lights go on that light goes out... the only real difference is we just have automatic lights or a push a switch to turn on the lights and not the toggle the Triumph has.
Possibly - personally I never run with just the DRL's, I have my aux lights on, dip beam and my aux-aux lights on all the time....as I like to be seen :0)
great review, thanks!! :) Where'd you get the hot air blower! great idea!!
There's a link in the comments below (amazon)...
Thanks very much :-)
These long term reviews are really nice, keep it up. I also do not like the rear and the action on those pcb buttons looks really bad.
Thank you...and will do!
The Brembo brakes are amazing. Mine are a little noisy and squeak at slow speeds. Did that bike?
Yes they did a little now you mention it, but incredible stoppers though...
That should go away once the pads have bedded in fully, how many miles do you have on it so far?
Well it;s not my bike, it's owned by Triumph UK and it has gone back to the press fleet at the factory now...
Haha, I was directing that @Vince LaRocca ;)
I only have 300 miles on the bike. Just got it :). I'm really hoping it does go away
You can flash the headlight only with the day lights running!
An old video so not sure if you read the comments, i wondered how the heat is off the engine on warmer days? Im currently cooking myself on an air/oil cooled Ducati scrambler and that is horrrific in summer heat in town.
I try and read all my comments! No issues with heat on the Street Triple - nothing like a Ducati! (I should know, I ride a Panigale).....
v
Very informative as usual . I had a quick spin on one. Thinking about the R as bar end mirrors not my thing.
Fair enough.....and I think the new R looks better too...
I have a similar problem with the KTM GT. confusion over DRL and dipped lights and menu settings
It's not an issue on the Street - once you're aware of it....just an odd way to do it...
I can't see very clearly from the video but the dimple on the top of the tank worries me a teeny bit. Is it self draining i.e. slanted forward or will it cause a puddle to accumulate if in rain? Thanks for the review, I loved my Tiger 800 I had. Good solid build.
+Jacob Botha IIRC it's slanting forward....so what did you get to replace the Tiger 800?
Cheers
Not seen them I’m afraid....
great review.
i found the missing lights for the controlls very odd!
i mean you kinda need them in the dark
:0)
can u pls review Honda 650f 2017 version pls...Love the way you cover angles which is very unique on you tube..pls keep doing such videos on other bikes too
Thanks Pratap - will see what I can do....all the best - TMF
Hello Missenden Flyer, if you have to choose one bike for next 5 years as your only bike. I am dubbing between Street triple RS 765 and the BMW nine t (normal black version). What to choose?
I’d have a BMW GS. Out of those two I’d take the the Street Triple.
There is a temp. gauge mate, you just missed it, cycle through the settings & its there.
Cheers!
+Lurch I agree - you'll defo want to watch my video next Monday where I compare the RS to my R....
A few questions:
1 - No up only
2 - Fine, no buffetting
3 - Can't remember (bike back at Triumph now) - certainly they were removable on previous versions so I suspect they are...
TheMissendenFlyer thanks man! Great video btw.
Err nope, can't remember (Halfords I think) and it's called a "turbo blaster" - this one is similar >> amzn.to/2rtuiju
TheMissendenFlyer A grand old thank you 😊
Thanks mate. A great real world review. I used to own a ST - a 2012 model, same as yours. I have read that the new one you have there has more power up high, and tends to miss out on bottom end. Is this so? How does the power delivery compare with the 2012?
Rgds
Glenn
+Troppo Yes I think you're probably right, no real lack of power low down I noticed but no more either, I suspect it's lurking top end (but what's the point of that on a road bike?)....
