Awesome video! I personally find the early production Miatas most interesting because I own one. Last year I bought VIN L0100138 as my first project car. From what I've been able to find, the car has lived its entire life in the midwest (originally sold in Chicago but moved north to Wisconsin), was the 49th car of general mass production (VINs 1-89 were test/pre-prod cars), was made on the first day of mass production, and was originally pulled off of the assembly line as a press fleet car (VINs 90-172 were used for press fleet.) Given that allot of the early cars were destroyed, it's very likely one of the 100 oldest Miatas on the road. I wish it were in better shape. It's low rust for a midwestern example, but passenger side rocker rust has just started poking through. The front end has salvage components from an accident, it's been resprayed (original DU color) and the AC is dead, but other than that most of the components are original and the car is bone stock. I'm at a loss as to what I should do with it. It's a special car but hardly in collectors condition. Rust never sleeps.
Fun video, great to see how active Mazda development was back in the early days of the car. Someone needs to do an all steel coupe! Big fan of what you are doing here!
While I was looking at obscure Miata specials, the Mono Posto piqued my curiosity the most because of its unusual design. It’s kind of like the superlight but more extreme
Thanks for doing the research, and sharing your finds - another good video. The M2 1001 has my vote! This is the first time I’ve seen it, or even heard of it.
I don’t know why, I’ve been obsessed with the club racer NA for a couple years now. I own an NB but man if I had an NA, I’d make a recreation of the club racer. I dream of one day having a 1.8 swapped NA6 done up exactly like the club racer but restomodded with ITB’s, 6 speed, LSD, a roll bar with the yellow rear parcel shelf cover going around it. Just make it a perfect twisty road weekend car that would do just as well at the track as it would at a car show.
@@AlexPerrucci I FINALLY GOT IT!! A couple days ago i picked up my first miata, a 92’ black and tan with 89k miles on it. It has a couple paint chips and scratches, and the antenna doesn’t go down. But its easily my favorite car i have owned!
I didn't know it when I bought mine but it's one of 151 painted in "Laser Blue Mica", a pleasant surprise for sure
Thats awesome!
The mx5 coupe was just basically a mx3 that they already had in production

😂
Do you think people would be upset if someone heavily “modded” and 92’ black and tan?
If it your car who cares. Do what makes you happy. Keep the stock parts you replaced so you can go back to stock if you ever want
No I think a nicely modded black and tan would be super nice!
