- Mix equal parts⠀
• powdered sugar⠀
• yellow cornmeal - use fine cornmeal⠀
• Borax or boric acid*⠀
*We have always used Borax with success, but if you have heavy infestation you might try the boric acid. You can purchase it at your local pharmacy.⠀

Place mixture in caps around the house - under refrigerator, in cabinets, etc. (We use jar lids and the caps of empty supplement bottles.)⠀

There’s no exact number of caps you should put out. Just use your best judgement and if it is a heavy infestation, go for a more concentrated effort. I usually put five or six in my kitchen and two or three in my bathrooms.⠀

VERY IMPORTANT: If you have children and/or pets, place where they cannot access. I have a toddler, so I put them on my countertops (hidden behind things so they’re not an eyesore), in the back of cabinets that have child locks, and behind the fridge. I put the majority of them in our kitchen and also some in our bathrooms.⠀

Just get boric acid from the dollar store and dust underneath your bathroom and kitchen sinks and maybe the boarders of the kitchen wall. It doesn't work right away it may be 6 to 7 days before you start seeing dead dried up roaches. Within 3 weeks to a month no roaches. This worked for me and my roach problem was severe.
Without sugar just borax?
@@shaliniRnj Buy the boric acid roach powder at the store, it's dirt cheap and it usually comes in a bottle with a tip at the end for squeezing the dust out, it actually says roach powder on the bottle usually.
@@shaliniRnj use borax powder and mix with sugar put into a bottle caps and leave in areas in the kitchen under the kitchen sink and etc.
@@allentam5754Keep in mind that Borax and boric acid are NOT the same thing, technically speaking. They’re both from the same mineral but boric acid is much more processed and finer than Borax (sodium tetraborate) and is more effective on roaches in the long run. Boric acid being so much finer than Borax, it attaches to the exoskeleton of the roaches much easier. Both attach to the body via static electricity so the boric acid being finer and lighter makes sure that it absolutely gets on the body.
They ingest it when they clean themselves. Then they die of dehydration. The rest of the nest will eat the dead one.
I like to make an extra potent lethal batch. I mix equal parts of baking soda and boric acid. Baking soda causes a chemical reaction in the digestive system of the roach after they ingest it and then ingest water. They go boom since they can’t pass gas and can’t expand their exoskeleton. No worries though, they don’t literally explode. Internally. The excess, their families eat. 🤷🏻♀️. I’m extremely phobic to roaches and I had one crawling on me one night when I was sleeping and I woke up.
I left the house 😂. I don’t ever have bugs on purpose but my darling child brought home a dog that he adopted without asking permission to bring home and they gave him everything. His bed, crate, toys, EVERYTHING. He brought it in his room. The dog slept on my sins actual bed. 2 days later I have a roach crawling on me. Dog left, I burned everything they brought home. I typically never need to actually treat for them. I usually just have to do monthly preventative care and it’s done. But I live in FL and I have had to get rid of a couple water bugs here and there and my methods are fool proof for a light-to-moderate issue. The home we’re in has so much vegetation around the entire house, plus it’s a terribly draining area. Baddd combo normally but worse with lots of rain or when it gets cold.
I typically spray Home Defense Max around everything inside and out. Dust the boric acid and baking soda under baseboards and cracks. Then if I see one or two, I’ll make a homemade bait that will make them have to walk over the powder to get the bait. I mix the powder in the food, too and a tiny bit on top. Usually does the trick
@@tonyacampos85 yeah boric and borax is similar but not exactly the same but they both work the same. Roaches are easy to get especially if u live in a high rise condo or apartment.
I don’t have a roach problem but I live in Sacramento and spring is coming. I always see one every other week…so hopefully this can work for me lol

I’m in Galt and get them occasionally in my garage using glue traps

Just leave it dry! And if you have kids or pets, make sure to put the caps in places where they can't access.

I only used sugar and borax, after a day or two the mixture becomes quite hard and solid. Does this happen your mixture or does the cornmeal stop this and make it easier for cockroaches to eat?
We've never had this problem! Make sure to mix with the inexpensive very fine cornmeal! Do you have high humidity where you live by chance?

The price of Borax is much cheaper than Boric Acid at my place, so I guess I'm going to buy Borax then.
What's the Corn Meal for
Helps attract the roaches! We've found that it works better with the cornmeal. You can try without it as well as they will be attracted to sugar too.

I would change your title...the fact that borax/boric acid kills cockroaches and can cause very negative effects in humans, it is far from non-toxic.

Also, all recreational pesticides cause absolutely no harm (as required to by law, including long term and short term) is used correctly, the only way these cause any harm to a person(s) is if they are sprayed in exadurated amounts, if they are sprayed directly into the air, or obviously at a person (which usually only result in short-term effects, such as nausea, or temporary lung irritation, and only last for multiple hours). The only difference boric acid makes is it is hard to make stupid mistakes like that, and (in solid form) is only harmful if consumed or if it is not washed off directly after handling.
The idea that "pesticides will kill you and the enviroment" is blatantly untrue, in the same way artificially selected produce, or most food preservatives have absolutely no effect to anyone's health.

All pesticides are most definitely toxic to humans! They can build up in the system and cause harm over time! I had breathing problems when I was being regularly, sprayed with pesticides! Quit lying to people! All pesticides are poisonous to humans as well!
Baking soda and sugar of equal parts work just as good and not poisonous to your family

Wouldn’t diatomaceous earth be a better option than boric acid? It also kills.
It dries them out. Borax isn't boric acid, but it is strong. Diatomaceous earth is even more natural (to me) and does work.
I’ve coated the shelves tiles with D.E. where they frequent but they keep coming back. I haven’t seen any recipes for mixing D.E. with sugar so here I am hoping to avoid paying $10 for roach motels which might not work and is also toxic.

It sounds like it would work for ants, yes. Because "Amdro" ant bait, "kills the queen" product has cornmeal in it, too. If Borax kills roaches, I don't know why it wouldn't kill ants, too..
