Sounds like it might be your oil rings on the pistons failing to seal when cold and then when it warms up it begins to seal. You may have an issue with your crankcase ventilation system. Or just failing piston rings. If you havent been letting it warm up to at least close to operating temperature before driving it that may have been the cause.

Have you ever experienced the P0496 on a Ford? I replaced the canister, vent solenoid and even the purge valve but none of these worked. i suspect it could be the fuel pressure sensor or the fuel hoses
@@FordBossMe so I found a purge valve by Dorman that uses quick connects for the hoses. So you just cut the old one out and use the provided connectors to put the new one in. Gonna try it tomorrow so hopefully it works out.
I got the same P1450 code, so I brought it to the ford dealership where I bought my escape and they told me it would cost $600 to replace the purge valve. After looking up the average cost to replace this part, I'm seeing from $150 to $250 including labor. I told them to hold off on it until I look into it. Why $600?
What software are you using in this vid to run the EVAP test? I just put some AMS turbo inlets on my 2019 2.7L F150 and I'm getting a P04F0 code - EVAP System High Load Purge Line A Performance. I disconnected the return tube that is connected to the intake to TB and blew smoke back through where the two tubes connect to the inlet and it was sealed tight, could be different under boost though. Would love to run an EVAP test on it to see if it's the solenoid. I'm thinking thought that it might be a slight leak where the two tubes connect to the driverside inlet. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Any chance you can help me figure out the reason behind P2096 code after I've replaced both o2 sensors and cleared the code? I don't know if it helps but my wife says while driving she hears whistling or rushing air while accelerating. There are no other codes.

Same here, no luck. This will be the 3rd purge valve going into my 2017 Escape after 115,000 kms. Ford says 6-8 month wait on back order. 1st one was 3 weeks wait, 2nd was 3 months. New engine needed at 28,000 kms due to coolant pouring into cylinders 1 and 3. This is my last Ford.

Can you by chance get that tube assembly/purge valve part number, it’s difficult to find this part for the 1.5l right now
I'm not sure what you're asking me to do right now
You didn't give me a year make or model
@@FordBossMe same as the one in video… just 2017… escape se 1.5L ecoboost. Should be the exact same part in the video… asking for the Ford part number…
I have a 2019 Edge 2.0 where would the purge valve be located? Is it the piece with the green band ?
Bro liked his comment and ignored it
Do you have the part no. For the Assembly.
The part number for the assembly has been posted in the comments section and it was in the video
Gv6z 9d289 E
It was clearly in the video and I'm not sure how people miss it because I even showed the part number up close
I don't know if people just aren't watching the video all the way through but it's not really fair to me 4 people should not watch the video all the way through if I'm doing the work and I'm giving you the phone number and then I still get the same questions after I've already provided the information to people I'm not taking this out on you but I just want you when you're watching these videos and you're taking help from people to be more careful and respectful of their time and pay attention to what's going on please
@@FordBossMe appreciate the time you took, and I forwarded through probably where you showed the part no. I apologize, and appreciate you sir.
Might be a silly question but this is a DIY? Or will I need to get it hooked to a computer? Dealer wanted $1400 in El Paso to fix the P1450 code. Trying to save a Sxxt ton of money.
Just go on Amazon and find yourself a cheap plug-in scanner one of the ones I typically use is by a company called BDS they're like 30 bucks and then buy the part and install it yourself you might have a little trouble getting to some of the tight spaces but that's really all you need is the part and then a little pocket scanner to clear the code
Thanks for the reply.
So mine just doesnt start after fueling. Could this be the same issue? I pulled one code p0304. Already fixed that. Bad coil pack.
Yes
@@FordBossMe sweet already ordered
What's the easiest way to fix a p0496 code on a 2018 ford escape
Give me a definition
@@FordBossMe my wife took it to O'Reillys and had them put the code reader on it because the check engine light came and they said its the evap purge solenoid and I don't wanna pay dealer prices to have it fixed
2018 Ford Escape and I was told it could take up to 10 hours to replace, this is for the purge valve and the attachment. Is there a reason it would take 10 hours?
about 10 minutes 15 minutes max
No reason to take longer
I just replaced mine yesterday and Dorman makes a repair kit that just changes the solenoid and its much easier and faster
@@MrSBinder3111 wow, I paid 1200 to get mine replaced
My 2017 escape is giving me the same issue. Is this a problem related to the remote start?
No
@@FordBossMe thank you
Have you ever experienced the P0496 on a Ford? I replaced the canister, vent solenoid and even the purge valve but none of these worked. i suspect it could be the fuel pressure sensor or the fuel hoses
You need to run an EVAP test
You have to make sure that the gas cap is good and it's got a good seal and it's tight
Also if the vent valve is hanging open a little bit it's going to make the purge valve not be able to work right
I’m having the same problem.
i have the same code PO496 and the 2018 does not have a gas cap
Can you replace the canister purge valve without replacing the entire harness?
I mean I'm sure there's a way but for the most part no
@@FordBossMe so I found a purge valve by Dorman that uses quick connects for the hoses. So you just cut the old one out and use the provided connectors to put the new one in. Gonna try it tomorrow so hopefully it works out.
@@UrBroJoe send me a link
Did it work?
I got the same P1450 code, so I brought it to the ford dealership where I bought my escape and they told me it would cost $600 to replace the purge valve. After looking up the average cost to replace this part, I'm seeing from $150 to $250 including labor. I told them to hold off on it until I look into it. Why $600?
Yeah it definitely doesn't cost $600
Fords IDS software with the VCM2 data link connector
we have a 2018 escape with the check engine light and when we refuel the car will not start after. The code i get is evap code.
this is your issue
my wifes car has similar issue with a p0496 evap purge valve solenoid
Love the video thanks
Any chance you can help me figure out the reason behind P2096 code after I've replaced both o2 sensors and cleared the code? I don't know if it helps but my wife says while driving she hears whistling or rushing air while accelerating. There are no other codes.
Some kind of air leak Upstream

A local dealer told my daughter it would be $600 and something to replace this part. I see the part is $160ish online and probably $220ish local for the Ford part and I guess they charge $400ish for an hour of labor.
155hr for labor
@@FordBossMe got the price breakdown
This local dealer is a RIPOFF to me.
Diag: $100
Labor: $180
Parts: $306 ( I can get it on the Ford parts website for $226.67 and pick it up at this same store)
Shop Supplies: $32.95 (ridiculous)
They even charged $10 for shop supplies for the Diag. SMDH
They wanted 1200. To replace my fuel pump. They said they had to drop the rear Axel to get to the pump that was in the gas tank. My 2013 Ford escape took me 45 minutes to remove the straps tilt the tank down. Remove the old pump and install the new one. Fuel pump cost $98 same as the charge to tell me the pump was bad. So don't ever run a Ford escape out of gas.
@@Justin-fq7vj that's crazy!
Thank you sir
do you have a part number for this part? i also have a 2018 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L. I bought a part that said it was right but it only had 4 connections and mine is same as yours.
I'm pretty sure I show the part number in the video people have asked me this about the video before and then I go back and look and the part number is very clear in the video
I just went back and looked at about 2 minutes and 45 seconds I clearly point out and even spell / say the part #....did you not watch the video?
@@FordBossMe oof 😓
@@FlaggedGamer what's up brother why the oof?
@@FordBossMe Aw, was just looking at the burn u gave. Thanks tho I’ve been looking for this part for a couple days and i couldn’t find the right part number 🙏🏼
I have this issue with my 2018 Ford Escape. I am trying to buy the part number you used but I can’t find the info when I google the part. Is that all I need? ( GV6Z-9D289-E) I can’t tell if it comes with the valve and The Whole spider arms (sorry don’t know what they’re called!) thanks for the video!
Rock auto and type In purge valve and your vehicle info they have it
Yes that’s the OEM ford part number
I got a p0495 and ended up here on a 17 escape se 1.5
Any advice? 128,000 miles.
What does that code mean?
@@FordBossMe small Evap leak.
@@YeahJonesy same thing as what I did in this video small evap leak could be the gas cap it could be the purge valve or something wrong with the fuel tank but I would start with the purge valve before anyting and make sure the gas cap is clicked and tight
Get a purge valve and put it on
Where did you buy your part from ? I can't find one for a 1.5 engine
I work for a dealer so I can get it right from the dealer and they order from the warehouse sometimes it takes a while sometimes it can take months
Did you find the part?
Order on autozone
i think mine is stuck closed because i get the hissing noise from my gas cap and have to manually vent
Yep
@FordBossMe Hey I replaced this part and it's still giving me the same codes. should I take it in so your guys fancy scan tools can properly make them talk to eachother?
Pid evapcv_f yes fault what is this?
This part does not fit a 2017 fusion SE 1.5l ?!
Some of them have different routings some of them are not the same it's better for you to just call your local dealer give them the VIN number or look through my library and see other Purge valves I've done and actually get the right number
Looking for this part for a few weeks. Ford said the have over 2000 back ordered, and only 80 shipped this month. Tried a few other non oem brands and everyone is back ordered. Anyone find one?
P.s. from Canada
ever have any luck ? im needing to order
Im having the same problem could you tell me the part number?
I literally gave the part number in the video lol
Come on now - look at the 2min and 40 sec mark and watch from there on
Sorry about that Lol thank you
And another one thankyou
Always wonder why the engineers put the motor so far back?
It’s a whores nightmare design. In the earlier model Escapes the engine is out in front, not buried under the cowel, and everything is easy to access at least on a 4 cylinder.
What are the symptoms of this problem?
Rough running, check engine light, stall stumble not start right away after filling up with fuel
Is it the same on a 2017?
You're going to have to call up your dealer give them the VIN number and check I used to check for people but it becomes redundant I would assume it is but I don't know that for sure
@@FordBossMe thank you for responding
As the channel grows I'm overwhelmed the best thing to do is just take the last day of your VIN call the dealer even call my dealer just to make sure Dundee Ford in Dundee Illinois

Sucks , tell what you are pointing at. Just need know where purge valve is
My 2018 ford escape just gave me this code for this part pv2030 and I just bought this car 2 days ago 😢
It's a common issue with these nothing too big kind of tricky to get this stuff in and out if you haven't done this kind of work before you're going to probably want to punch somebody by the time you're done
1. Why not just replace the faulty part, the evap purge valve instead of replacing the entire harness and all components?
2. Assuming you cannot find the valve by itself, where did you get the new harness and what is the part number? I watched the whole video and did not hear a part number or place to buy mentioned
This is how it comes this is what you do and that's just how it is
So you definitely missed it there was a part number listed in the video you're going to have to go back and watch it it's clearly right in the video 2 minutes and 40 seconds I can't even believe I have to explain this type of stuff all the time and it's not even like it was just a short brief period there was a long time it was talked about
@@FordBossMe alright so where do we get the part?
@@FordBossMe I did miss it because it was flashed for approximately 2.5 second after talking about "they sent me the wrong part" .. in the middle of the troubleshooting section.. like man that was really easy to miss my dude.
anyway let me take on the monumental task of typing it out for anyone else who comes along like me ..
