Porsche 928 Episode 21 - How to remove CIS Injectors the easy way

- Опубліковано 12 чер 2021
- In this weeks video I'm going to show how to remove the CIS Injectors the easy way, without any special tools - and disassemble the aluminium mounting and rubber seal....
Welcome back guys to my Porsche 928 restoration! I bought the cheapest 928 in the UK and its going to be a battle to bring her back to life...
... and to make matter worse, Im not a mechanic! Im just a regular guy 'having a go', and it doesn't always work out!

The rebuild of the air meter would be great to see. If that bearing has any issue it will change the air fuel mixture.
Hey TT TT, I'll probably start on the meter rebuild tomorrow, fingers crossed !
Great video for the 928 community. Probably the best on this topic. Keep the good videos up!
Thanks Nondas :)
I just inverted the intake tube and knocked them out with a brass mallet. Worked beautifully.
Ah nice. Mine was stuck in super tight and I didn’t want to damage them
@@MrToddgibbs if you don’t want to damage them your way is best. My injectors are almost 50 years old and the car hasn’t started since 2011. I thought it best to replace them.
Hey Todd, great stuff as usual...I like the spanner idea. The mother of all invention eh ? The rubbers on my Ferrari's injectors are like a mid sized Dinky's tyre. Much smaller than on your 928, so they are a tad easier to remove. You can gently pry them out with a small pry bar. Being careful to protect the intake of course. Oh yeah...love the T-shirt...I'm of the same vintage 1970. Cheers Mate, Marc
Thanks Marc, I had been pondering how to get the injectors out for weeks. They are so tight it requires a leap of faith to effectively force them out (which is why I did the video).
T-shirt was a 50th bday gift from the friend that did the matchbox car this year :)
@@MrToddgibbs Well happy 50th...Belated, I turned 51 just last week. It goes fast so enjoy those cars ! Great video...helping out many backyard mechanics.
Isn't it amazing how technology has advanced from this era to what we have today on motor vehicles.
Keep persevering Todd as you'll get there in the end. It's all very time consuming work indeed.
Stay safe, love and respect from Taiwan.
To be honest Terry, Im surprised it works at all! much of it seems very basic and low-tech.But I guess thats the beauty of it and what allows us to rebuild them. Thanks, as always.
@@MrToddgibbs I agree, such cars with low technology from years ago were the in thing back then as we knew it. By today's standards though you'd class them all as very very primitive!
I recently (4 weeks ago) purchased a brand new 2021 Toyota for my wife.
The technology and gadgets in this "middle of the range" vehicle is very high and I dread the day when it begins to go electrically wrong.
However I got a 4yr guarantee with the car so fingers crossed that if any issues do occur then these will be taken care of by the Toyota guarantee.
Nowadays they do not make cars like they used to, crappy cheap materials, razor thin metal with too much reliance on technology and gizmos ALL put together with unrealistic dealership prices.
I feel much safer in an older classic car for sure due to the build quality back then and this is why is important that guys like yourself give these older classics a new lease of life.
That's a great idea..i will be using that myself..👍
There are other more complicated ways, but I like this as it required nothing special. My injectors aren’t in great condition though - definitely heading for the bin!
@@MrToddgibbs woah, replacement high flow injectors aren't exactly cheap if your going that route. Set of 8 Lucas 19 pound/hr set of 8, your looking around $500 US without shipping I think.
Yeah it’s around £23 per injector here. But it’s an important bit to ensure is working. I’ll replace. Currently fighting the last injector mount, it’s stuck solid and the top has just cracked !
@@MrToddgibbs Best of luck with that, soak it with WD40 or something similar. I won't give your reply a thumbs up as having a stuck part of an injector cannot be any fun.
I feel your pain and frustration though Todd.
@@terryroe2023 didn’t realise, but as it cracked it became free.... all removed now !
Another great video 👍 - Could you share who you are using for parts? cheers ....
Hey, mostly RosePassion.com and Design911. I do hunt around a lot though, picking some bits up on eBay
Hi Todd,
Really enjoying the videos.
Could you put the links in the description of your parts sources and also the part number of the compatible merc injectors?
Would be handy for any future parts I might need
Thanks
Hi, yes of course. I actually want to start explaining the cost of the project and my prediction going forward - which this could be part of. But I'll post the injector link once I decide which to buy.
Thanks for watching!
This is a link to the injectors - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333950973523?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Dd94171e70b804a31a60b410fbe23aa22%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D333950973523%26itm%3D333950973523%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DBosch&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad6ea6f00-a78c-11eb-bfd7-daac8f63ddee%7Cparentrq%3A14c16aee1790a77dcce5b8a1ffc04d33%7Ciid%3A1
daft questions, where do you get your parts and what were the mercedes injectors ?
Hi Russell - perfectly good questions! Most parts are from Design911 or RosePassion. Some EBay, including the merc injectors (8x Petrol Fuel Injectors 0437502047 Bosch Nozzle Valve A0000784023 A0000785623).
Hope that helps :)
@@MrToddgibbs thanks for replying, rosepassion a new one for me, doing a top end similar to yours soon so your videos will help, keep em coming thanks again
Good luck Russell. I had a company rebuild my top end... next time I'll do it myself. Thanks for watching! :)
