No. As someone who saw him since the early/mid 90's. no, his technique was well below average. stop it, forget highlights. I watched this infuriating player for long enough. I'm 42, he was awkward. his off the ball movement and one on one finishing and getting infront of a defender sixth sense was superb.
This guy dumped most of his stats into Intelligence and finishing. Barely enough into technique and speed. A sprinkle into aerial ability and strength.
people watch games on tv and they think they understand football. To understand Inzaghi, you had to see him at the stadium. Everytime his midfielders had possession, he would sprint. Once a game, a defender failed to follow him, and he scored. He was at the highest levels of conditioning. People say he would only eat Bresaola )a very lean cured beef meat) and Parmigiano. He was on keto 25 years ago! Always training, he had a lot of big injuries and always came back. Peack professionalism
@@baloccobruno2247One Serie A defender (can't remember who) mentioned that Inzaghi is the toughest to mark because he is always prepared and ready, never giving him time to relax. Even if the play is nowhere close to him. This also reminds me of a quote by Gary Lineker, another great poacher. 'The big thing is, everybody says it's being in the right place at the right time. But it's more than that, it's being in the right place all the time. Because if I make 20 runs to the near post and each time I lose my defender, and 19 times the ball goes over my head or behind me - then one time I'm three yards out, the ball comes to the right place and I tap it in - then people say, right place, right time. And I was there *all* the time.'
"He can play with 10 if he wants, but if he plays Inzaghi it will be tougher." Jose Mourinho in 2010 when Real Madrid were about to face Milan. He didn't care if they played with 10 strikers, he only feared a 37yo Inzaghi.
I remember the shock after seeing Inzaghi play live at the stadium for the first time instead of on television. You can’t imagine the quality and quantity of his off-the-ball movements throughout the entire match. After 15 minutes, you could feel how stressed the opposing defensive line was, as if they had played a full 90 minutes of a regular game. Believe me, it was an enlightening experience!

No pace and no skill? Don't agree. Pace, to run and dash from the offside lines to the goal, from top defenders. Skill, to dribble top goal keepers at the time. In head goals, he was deadly. As a striker, with over 90% in shots on target per match. That's why Inzaghi played for those top clubs, winning CL finals and,,,World Champion in 2006. Modern football really, its only played for social media. Inzaghi was the king of non ball playing, between the lines of defense Always on the spot to score goals. To finish games. To win. As in no juggling technique or these "flashy" ones football players usually have. He used to have some pace, his acceleration was insane but I preferred his older phase when he truly embraced the "no pace" label.
Positioning and having vision for open space are key for a true striker, and inzaghi had it. There's no need for flashy skills as a striker. I agree with everything you said. If you can create windows and finish, you're worth more than gold in football. All these skills from today's players, yet their finishing is absolutely abysmal. Intelligent mind, positioning and vision are the top intangible skills every successful striker has. If they have other ones, the better. As Sir Alex said, he was born offside: teams had to adapt to him constantly trying to beat the offside trap, which most oftenly resulted in team lowering their defensive line providing Kakà (and Seedorf) for a much appreciated space between the lines. he doesn’t have the dribbling skills but he master all the other skills. Timing and Positioning, that means he is really smart. Scoring so much in a championship that had some of the greatest defensive school it’s not a just luck
I coached a girl in college who was not technical, had no pace, and little to no athleticism. She won the D2 Academic All-America Player of the Year and is still the school’s all-time leading scorer.

Fox in the box, a real poacher....he had the skill which most of the english strikers don't have, the goal scoring skill, his headers are super accurate too with his comparatively short height, and just like Nistelrooy his short accuracy inside the box was outstanding ❤
I wouldn't say Inzaghi was slow. He was quick over the first few yards in a race to the ball. He was kind of an earlier version of Thomas Muller but in a more central position.
Mueller with much more forward position but worse first touch, passing, upper body strength, and obviously playmaking. They were totally different players apart from the footballing IQ.
If the VAR are in use on Inzaghi era , Inzaghi will have more goals than officially ruled out. The reputation dont help him much lineman's just assumed his offside
his brother was way worse :) shevchenko before sold to chelsea, never was offside and had some 5-10 meter calls against. like literally 10m behind the defensive line but he ran so far they didn't believe it.
I remember AC milan losing the 2009 uefa cup semifinal vs werder bremen, Inzaghi scored but the referee saw a non existent offside. The uefa cup/europa league is the only trophy AC milan never managed to win, the VAR would hace changed an entire club's history
Inzaghi is an extraordinary finisher. When he was playing since mid 90s to the 2000s, he was considered a top rate striker that has impeccable judgment of where is to be, how he times his runs and he connects with the ball so well for a one touch finish. That is a top rate striker who reads the game so well, moves so intelligently and has the finishing touch that of a midas touch. Everything he does in the penalty box turns to gold, I mean, turns to goal.
Inzaghi is not slow. In fact, he is very fast especially in the first 20 metres. He doesn't appear fast but he is fast. He is also very strong. I remembered watching him playing against Jaap stamp and the way he shielded the ball to score the goal is a sight to behold. This is Jaap stam at its peak and bullying all strikers he played against.
The job of a striker is to score goals. Even if it looks awkward. Even if it's look clumsy or downright lucky. Doesn't even matter if those goals are not "flashy" or "beautiful" or "spectacular", a goal is a goal. Gosh, i love him. Grew up watching him play is such a blessing.
that was a really good tribute video for inzaghi, who was a talented player, just like you are at making a wonderful and entrateing documentary. great job! You've earned my sub. can't wait to see more
One of the best strikers ever. In big games he would score. He is what I call a "pure striker" because quite often times, when he would score, he was already celebrating before ANYONE ELSE in the stadium knew the ball was in the net. He consistently over many many seasons found the back of the net regularly. Salute Pippo
Honestly, he was the beginning of what people finally realized on being a striker - it's not about their type of goal, their playing style, or the way they scored a goal, it's just about the goal as a result. And he truly modernized this perception and I would argue he was one of the first strikers who pioneered the modern poacher position whereas they were given a freedom to roam and score goals from any place as a striker, which is a striking resemblance to Jamie Vardy, also a notable poacher like him.
At first I didnt like Inzaghi, but then I started not to watch the game but just look what Inzaghi is doing. He is always on the off side line, always running and moving and he had very good feeling where to be. At the end I really liked him as a player
Inzaghi, ah how time flies by!! He's absurd by today standard but he's a legend after all along Del Pierro and countless monters from that era!! Lets toast to them, because scorer like him are a feast to our eyes!
What I love about Inzaghi is his uncanny ability to be at the right place at the right time: he put the entire defensive line, goalkeeper included, under immense pressure, because they knew that even the slightest mistake would mean Inzaghi was there with fire in his eyes and the ball at his feet.
Great video. Also worth noting he was rarely a first team starter and often played when Shevchenko was injured, suspended, or needed a rest (and sometimes playing up front with him). He probably started only 20 games per season on average a year for milan but managed to bag 15 goals on average
Now I see where Isagi Yoichi is inspired from. Appearing out of nowhere before the goal, reading the game like no other person, and a DIRECT SHOT ? Thats him
I've seen Inzaghi in the flesh when my team Portsmouth drew AC Milan at home in the group stages of the Europa league in 2008. It was like watching the T-1000 from Terminator 2. He was the scariest player Milan had on the pitch because he just had the most efficient and single-minded approach towards the objective of scoring goals. It always looked like he was eventually going to score, and he did score to draw the game late on. He was hellbent on scoring goals. extremely underrated striker.
I remember his volley against Barça in a friendly. It was late in his career and the whole Camp Nou stood up and gave him an ovation, it felt like they celebrated his whole career. Great moment as a Milan fan.
The best video about Inzaghi hands down 🙇 Sir you are INCREDIBLE Only thing that's missing is goal highlights and his numerous hattricks footage in UCL
Inzaghi actually did have a lot of technique, and he had a great pass. Problem is, at times he would look clumsy, because he played next to very gods of football, like Del Piero and Zidane. His biggest problem was selfishness and not passing the ball to Del Piero, and this is why he got replaced by Trezeguet. Milan bought him and he won them a champions league.
And strangely reminded me of Jamie Vardy, lmao. These two had some good skills, it just went unnoticed. Vardy's pass was underrated for the same reason they had Kante, Mahrez, and then Maddison at Leicester.
While talking about Inzaghi with Del Piero, Vieri described how Inzaghi talked about the feeling of a goal and of an assist. Del Piero's reply was along the lines of: "How does Pippo (Inzaghi) even know how an assist feels?" He was joking of course, they're good friends now, but he was famous for never passing the ball if he had a chance to score.
People consider Halland now as an animal and he does look the part, but man Inzaghi, even though i am a United fan. He was an animal. Always out of sync but it scared the hell out of a young me whenever i watched or rethink about that night at san siro second leg, 3-0!!!!! Seriously
He is the definition of Silent Assasin..won’t see him do anything the whole game yet he’l be on the scoresheet. Could do with these strikers in today’s football
best poacher of all time, to be at the right place at the right time with good finishing is all you need, very underated striker. just remember he play at serie A where defense is king.
He was a striker a number 9 and his job is to get that ball on the net at any costs fancy or sloppy get it in Inzaghi is a legend and had longevity a respected striker
Excellent job with this video. Inzaghi is very underrated. I agree he didn't have much finesse but he did have a large appetite for scoring goals and his celebrations were classic. Super Pippo!!!
Inzaghi had decent pace and pretty good skill. He just used his skill when strictly necessary. Perfect ball control, and never failed a dribbling the few times he tried. Even some complecated ones
Looking back to the final of the CL penalties were like almost never scored because of the keepers coming of the line a meter or so. Glad they changed the rules.
Growing up with Inzaghi, Del Piero, Vieri, Totti, Baggio, Chiesa, Toni, Zola, Montella, Mancini, Vialli and several others who rarely played yet would easily be starting today.......I would never have believed it could get as bad as it has been since 2006.

60 tops; he was slow, just not over the first 15 yards, where he could beat most defenders.
'He was born offside' funniest shit i have ever heard in football 😂😂😂
Ferguson must of been pissed when he said that
He literally was, lmao.
If the VAR are in use on Inzaghi era , Inzaghi will have more goals than officially ruled out.
The reputation dont help him much lineman's just assumed his offside
*he's, not his
his brother was way worse :)
shevchenko before sold to chelsea, never was offside and had some 5-10 meter calls against. like literally 10m behind the defensive line but he ran so far they didn't believe it.
It's about skill. In the Var era he would have been in the right position to score. Offside position is still skill.
I remember AC milan losing the 2009 uefa cup semifinal vs werder bremen, Inzaghi scored but the referee saw a non existent offside. The uefa cup/europa league is the only trophy AC milan never managed to win, the VAR would hace changed an entire club's history
Tbh, it's the opposite.
He played for those clubs involved in that system of robberies called "calciopoli".
This guy has scored with all parts of his body. The most iconic shoulder on champions final and whith nose against Oliver Kahn of Bayern Munich
Thank you it was a beautiful watch. When I was a kid I was following the AC Milan performances and you captured the important bits of those times.
The job of a striker is to score goals. Even if it looks awkward. Even if it's look clumsy or downright lucky. Doesn't even matter if those goals are not "flashy" or "beautiful" or "spectacular", a goal is a goal.
Gosh, i love him. Grew up watching him play is such a blessing.
that was a really good tribute video for inzaghi, who was a talented player, just like you are at making a wonderful and entrateing documentary. great job! You've earned my sub. can't wait to see more
He was a freaking shooting star. Others hardly ever see it coming! And he could score back to back goals almost everytime, a true hotshot
He often gets the opposing défenderesse tired and irritated by his runs (mostly offside) then eventually scores his goal. A smart striker
Inzaghi is the kind of player that you hate to love and love to hate, but the godamn dude always delivered when needed most.
Inzaghi truly look like a survivor from those hardcore survivors movies who would do anythings to surviv and even the luck work will for him.
Dude is and was a legend. Different styles. I’d put him on my team any day of the week
He picked his spots immaculately. Just like Thomas Muller. Their intelligence made them beasts. Ball.always found them
If Inzaghi's goals in the 99 semi-final had been enough to reach the final... it would've been 4 finals in a row for the Old Lady
Thats him
Man, So many memories! Euro 2000 was my first tornument as a 11 year old kid!
That era of football was magical! Miss those times so much.
The best video about Inzaghi hands down 🙇 Sir you are INCREDIBLE
Only thing that's missing is goal highlights and his numerous hattricks footage in UCL
Inzaghi is one of best strikers in football history. He was just not flashy player, but he done his job perfectly.
Now bro is the main character inspiration in a very famous show called "BLUE LOCK"
AHH the striker who was renowned for throwing himself on the ball to score with his spleen if needed.
I remember INZAGHI❤
I loved this guy. Always got him on Champ Manager.
I remember him in the 2003 Champions League Final. All Juve fans held their breath every time we was making a shot against goal.
In Italy, we usually say Inzaghi was not even a player, he was a scorer.
While talking about Inzaghi with Del Piero, Vieri described how Inzaghi talked about the feeling of a goal and of an assist. Del Piero's reply was along the lines of: "How does Pippo (Inzaghi) even know how an assist feels?"
He was joking of course, they're good friends now, but he was famous for never passing the ball if he had a chance to score.
Inzaghi is a living example of how football IQ is more important than being a 6 foot plus giant and a speed merchant.
Is this a dig towards Haaland?
People consider Halland now as an animal and he does look the part, but man Inzaghi, even though i am a United fan. He was an animal. Always out of sync but it scared the hell out of a young me whenever i watched or rethink about that night at san siro second leg, 3-0!!!!!
Seriously
He was one of those who utilized his strengths to the max while lacking other fundamentals to be a footballer.
His ball control is very underrated and so is his base technique. People are confusing technique with skills
The king!!! Loved Inzaghi growing up in the 90's and 2000's. Smart and sharp player who was tough as nails!
He is the definition of Silent Assasin..won’t see him do anything the whole game yet he’l be on the scoresheet. Could do with these strikers in today’s football
I don’t wanna say it, but…HE IS A STRIKER DA
Inzaghi, Muller and Giroud. Underrated, big game player.
Inzaghi was 1000 times better than Giroud
Respect!!! The guy just knew how to score if he had speed he would be in the top 5 of all time...... His instict of goal was the best....
Inzaghi studied his opponents. a lot. he watched hours of video footage of his opponents, especially defenders. he knew the weakness of each defender.
Inzaghi is one of my favorite strikers since I watched UEFA Champions League on cable TV
the king of offside, if there is an award for it inzaghi will claim this easily
One of the heroes of calciopoli era.
best poacher of all time, to be at the right place at the right time with good finishing is all you need, very underated striker. just remember he play at serie A where defense is king.
He took chance very well , definition just kick the ball without scoring a beautiful goals.
Technique or no, he got the job done - He scored.
This guy had mad skill!!!
Inzaghi and miroslav kloze killer instincts, always in right position to score
Thomas Müller is the same kind of guy.
From disappearing to the seemingly clumsiness.
Bro had the best off the ball movement, not to mention his finishing and intelligence, they were top notch
Inzaghi had decent pace and pretty good skill. He just used his skill when strictly necessary. Perfect ball control, and never failed a dribbling the few times he tried. Even some complecated ones
The way he celebrate every goal is pure joy to watch
He is underrated..He was one of the greatest goal scorer of his generation.
Dude was born with Metavision.
The man was a genius on the pitch! PIPPO!!
Finishing, heading, positioning and intelligence are all skills.
Inzaghi is a legend.
Bro became the inspiration for Isagi of blueLock dam❤❤❤
being right place at the right time is a skill.
I think football is not about speed and skill, but also strategy and how smart is the player
SUPER PIPPO, best positioning player ever.
Looking back to the final of the CL penalties were like almost never scored because of the keepers coming of the line a meter or so. Glad they changed the rules.
In Italy we literally miss this kind of striker, ours cannot score anymore in the national team, it's such a pain to watch...
Growing up with Inzaghi, Del Piero, Vieri, Totti, Baggio, Chiesa, Toni, Zola, Montella, Mancini, Vialli and several others who rarely played yet would easily be starting today.......I would never have believed it could get as bad as it has been since 2006.
Inzaghi is a Legend alon with Sevchenko they just had different ways of scoring. I wish we had a Striker like that nowadays.
strikers 5 shots, 1 goal
inzaghi 9 offsides, 1 goal
