I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Absolutely amazing video, really appreciate not cutting the struggles out. I spent the afternoon removing mine today while I await new springs in the post and realised this isn't going to be an easy job as it was hard enough removing a shortened broken one. Wish me luck when the springs arrive as I'll have this video in mind 😂

    Evening Mark
    I'll offer no mechanical advice as you know what your doing (albeit it WORRYINGLY UNSAFELY here) and advice has been given in other comments here.
    But I've just watched it TWICE for the FANTASTIC ENTERTAINMENT ...... ABSOLUTE QUALITY WATCHING A NORMALLY LEVEL HEADED MALE GOING THROUGH A MINI BRAIN EXPLOSION 😂😂😂😂😂😂
    As I've said to you previously leaving the original audio IN is worth its weight in gold.

      Absolutely Mark. Original sound clips do enhance the video as we're getting the full experience.
      That doesn't mean I'm being detrimental to your voice over parts. They're usually so information packed to highlight certain points so they should be kept to.
      There's my bit of seriousness for this evening.

    Hi!, would there be enough leverage to insert spring if you were able to remove bolts connected to brake system and roll bar? My nuts that connect the control arm towards the centre of the car look scary. But it looks like the control arm pivots once tire side stuff is disconnected. BTW thanks for the bit where you highlighted the parts in red. Makes me think I know what I am talking about now!!!

    I think that you really needed a (very expensive) internal spring compressor. Faced with this situation, I think I would have compressed the spring as usual, but then fashioned a device with some 16mm threaded bar, to hold the compression on from the inside, whilst installing.

    • @CoatsandGaiters
      @CoatsandGaiters  Рік тому

      I will have to take a look at those then, I didn't know they made internal compressors. Really I should have just ordered some new bolts for £32 and not been a tight ass lol

    Don't get me wrong, I feel your pain but the raw uncut audio made me laugh out loud. "Even my Allegro was better than this" 😂

    There are 2 types of in situ spring compressors to make this sort of job easier.
    First is the telescopic type that you used to use on the old Mercs
    Second is basically a portable version of a "safe" spring compressor. Nielsen CT1792 is the part number. Cheaper versions are available, ive just said that one for easier reference

      Just had a look Sammy and it looks like the one I used to have ua-cam.com/video/-xWpm65E-Lc/v-deo.html I sold it as I found it awkward to use. I don't think that would have got in such a tight space either as the one I had was very bulky.

    • @sammytheseal2307
      @sammytheseal2307 Рік тому

      @@CoatsandGaiters Ah I see. Yes that one does look a bit bulky, I've borrowed one before (I normally use my freestanding one or come up with _something_ when needed!) And it wasn't as bulky as that.
      It might have helped to compress it in the middle similar to what you did with the straps. Then it should have cleared the trailing arm but then it might have got stuck when trying to release it.
      Hey ho, it's done now! :)

      @@CoatsandGaiters When I do these Ford springs I just undo that lower hub bolt, whatever it takes to do it, and replace the bolt(s) and arm if needed.
      But fair play to you for getting it done! I'd definitely not be as brave as you though by using those straps. I've had a spring let go on me before and it was enough of a wake up call!
