the intakes are aoa-reliant. they didn't change because you were going too fast to pull any reasonable aoa. it's to optimize efficiency at low speed.

According to the Dash-1 you're structurally limited to M1.5 with wing tanks.
i have no idea what you're talking about but taking 8 missiles and 2 tanks and still expecting to go above mach 1.15 is justs silly
What's the Dash-1? Also with wing tanks would you be limited far more than mach 1.5?
@@naolevemeusvideosaserio "Dash-1" is slang for the operator's manual. The actual document is TO 1F15A-1.
M1.5 is the ext tank Mach limit and is the active constraint above 22kft. Below that, it's limited to 700KCAS, which is M1.07 at SL.
Note these are operational limits not kinematic limits. You're not supposed to exceed these for the sake of airframe longevity.
I think the reason it feels sluggish in battle is because you never dropped the tanks. Or is not possible yet?

Gaijin does have vehicles marked as early and late, the later models are the most powerful variants
The F-14a is a great example, same with the P-47, P-51, B-17, and F-4u.
I assume the later models like the F-15A/C late or the F-16 block 50 will gain AMRAAMs which means rank IX aircrafts which will be way too much to handle

Hey Phly did you know that each of those external drop tanks contain 750 gallons of fuel and in total that’s an additional 10,000 lbs that it needs to overcome
Honestly so hyped for this update and I’m so glad to finally see these aircraft especially for the nations that’s need, also so excited for the SU-27 as it’s my top 3 favourite irl aircraft.
It's not any sort of bias as I'm Australian but I just love the look of the F-15 over the Su-27. I love my craft kinda blocky. I build my warships in space engineers with the look of functionality. It has It's own kinda beauty.

Eagle, Tomcat and Raptor are beautiful blends of form and functionality.
A good Sp.Eng tip, is to take inspiration from UNSC vessels; there was time and effort put into giving vessels real layouts, creq quarters, CIC aside from Bridges, and types of equipment, areas, hangars, munitions bays, etc.
F-15 is a brilliant bird
As an Aussie, I much much prefer the look of the SU-27, to the point that I think the F-15 is ugly. It is one of the annoying things about our Avalon Airshow. Yeah, it's great to see F-22, F-35, Super Hornets, etc, but give me some Sukhoi love, please.

Its weird because the eagles biggest asset is its insane radar. And just like the f14, it doesnt really work as it should...
It’s also crazy that every other airplane is somehow ridiculously more maneuverable than the F-15 in this patch. Whoever implemented the flight model for it is literally a vegetable
@@christianrimbau1557 The real issue is that G-overload limits aren't being enforced on anything. There probably a lot of planes where if you replaced their structural materials with somthing of infinite strength they'd outmaneuver the F-15, but IRL they'd snap their wings or some other part long before the F-15 would. The F-16 has, (and had it worse when first released as it had realistic hard G limits), similar issues.

My old man was an Eagle driver so I had the privilege to hang out with it all the time as a kid. Greatest jet ever built. Nothing beats the JFS starting up or the eagle howl, or the nozzle actuators, and the feeling of the earth shaking when they’re in full burner going unrestricted. Symbol of a bygone USA.

Gaijin didn’t added Amraams unfortunately and I guess when the F-15 was developed it didn’t have them either. Maybe later F-15s will have them
I doubt it will be long before we get the F15C. That being said, this F15A will perform a lot better without two massive fuel pods on the wings.
@@PyroBlonde7777 I have to note when the F-15 was tested and developed, Amraams weren’t ready. So in typical fashion they used sparrows which I enjoy using. And in desert storm when amraams are common, some f-15s still used sparrows. It’s likely gaijin is using that factor into early generations of the F-15 and F-16s before getting into the really modern stuff. Like no one wants to get one shotted even with countermeasures.
C variant isn't a huge improvement over the A variant, when it comes to variant difference it's pretty minor, mostly just slightly improved radar, improve engine efficiency, and extra fuel. Aim-120s and R-77s and the likes will be added next year when all countries have a vehicle capable of using them, as said by Gaijin on the dev stream.

Aim-7M needs a Massive Buff to stand a good chance to perform good when USSR has R-27er/et which is why USA need Aim-120A Early it needs it or the F15 is nothing because Aim-7M is just a copy paste of Aim-7F which isnt good we are stuck on 1960s tech while Russia is on 1990s tech but people think its ok

@CalebGreen-yn5xx and I've played this game for almost a decade. The majority of my jet matches happen in sim these days, where theres plenty of both BVR and knife fighting. I have 3000 hours in air and ground battles combined with 4 maxed aviation trees and 3 maxed ground trees. You really have no basis to be telling me what I have and haven't played bird brain.
I'm really shocked that f15a players have to fight against su-27 which has 4 r73 & 6 r27er with using 4 nerfed AIM-7M and Rader without TWS and HMD.

10:20 yes the intakes do change based on AOA, they also change based on on altitude and speed! I am curious as to if the Vulcan on the eagle is angled slightly upwards like the real eagle is tho
In game they are sadly bomd to aoa only (for now), so they decide to close at high altitudes.
I believe this is just ananimation issue, but then again it is >3km short in terms of servidlce ceiling in game...

Man that radar is really underselling the capabilities of the AN/APG-63 even the old analog versions could see targets at 2-3x the maximum radar range in game
After playing the F-15A in the test server, I can say that the radar is either really bad or just broken, because it really loves to drop lock for no reason, and the ability to switch between pulse and pulse doppler modes while locked is just... Practically unusable
If you want the F-15 to phly right, drop the darn bags! All that fuel is quite literally holding you back.
Interesting, I figured you would at least be going mach 2 on sea level. Since even google says top speed of a F15 is mach 2.5 but anyways thanks for showing us the F15

F-15 can only go Mach 1.2 @ sea level so Gaijin wasn't far off

Fun fact: The japanese F-15J has 4 air to air missiles woth IRCCM and 40G's of overload, as well ass 4 aim-7m's.
As of the MiG-29SMT's flares, the statcard only shows 60, while in the test flight you can see 116 are available

They better not make the flanker better than the Eagle.
The flanker IS better than the eagle in terms of pure dogfighting capabilities since the flanker's main advantage is maneuverability and stall speed dogfighting what made the f15 a menace were the radar and missiles not it's flight performance, which is not to say wasnt an improvement however the flanker had the upper hand in that aspect even with the slightly weaker engine

@@narimantondkar4733 and quite frankly, the Eagle could hold its own against the Flanker even in the turn fight. Maneuver speed can be as low as 80 knots.
@@GDBROWN Multiple things have already gone wrong if you've merged with your enemy. Of course, this is War Thunder where most players lack brain cells.
Assuming you do merge with a Flanker, go for the two circle and vertical fight. F-15 can easily hold its own there. Stay around 250-300 knots corner speed for max turn rate.

@@Spicy_Italian_Sausage The reason the F-15 is still competitive today is a long history of upgrades to the airframe, engines, and avionics. The F-15A is significantly worse than the modern F-15 variants in every respect.
The variable inlets change their angle based on the AoA but there is an internal “Ramp” in the intake that changes shape at high Mach to slow the air down for the engines.
Its sad to see that US and sweden got the most shitty version of their own jets but hey japan got something good now aparently with the aam 3's :D

I was wondering how gaijin would implement newer western aircraft considering how vastly superior they are to soviet/russian counterparts. The answer is: you simply add them in such a way that the armament they were engineered around is not added. These developers aren't adding the BVR weapons American engineers developed because this would cause the russian aircraft to get molested.
Not only that, but they’re intentionally busting their flight performances to the point that they are comparable to buses with wings.
@Phly Maybe play some Enlisted if you haven't in a while. They released a new update that merges all campaigns into one rotation so you can use any and all squads without having to change campaigns. Its a nice little change to be able to use the BOYS AT rifle on Invasion of Normandy which used to be a map set that didnt have BOYS AT rifles, but now it does.

There's also a Japanese and Israeli F-15s; the F-15j with AAM-3s (40g pull and ECCM, quite comparable to the R-73s) and the F-15 Baz with Python 3s.
AAM-3s are more an AIM-9M with Python 3 maneuverability than R-73; no thrust vectoring means it won’t do the crazy stuff R-73s can do.
IRCCM not ECCM. And depending on how gaijin implements it, it should be nearly completely unflareable because it has a 2 channel seeker.

Fun fact the F-15 Eagle was designed in direct response to the MiG-25 Foxbat. When the USSR announced the MiG-25 the US thought it was going to be a new generation air superiority fighter that the US had nothing in its arsenal to compete with. After learning some very hard lessons in Vietnam and it's trials with the F4 Phantom, the US Military Industrial Complex set out to create it's own air supremacy fighter that was supposed to beat out the USSR's MiG-25.
As it turns out much like today that Russia builds absolute dogshit and the MiG-25 was just a glorified bomber hunter, not an air superiority fighter.
The F-15 however has since become the single most successful and dominant air supremacy fighter in human history with a combat record of 104 Kills to 0 losses, across almost 50 years, a 1/2 a century of pure DOMINANCE.
That's right the F-15A entered service in 1976, in 2026 that will mark 50 years of the F-15's air dominance in service, and it's still one of the single most lethal aircraft in the skies today.
You are mixing up the MiG-25 and 31. The 31 has the distinction of being the 1st plane in service to use a PESA phased array radar.
