This was the perfect review of the product not wasting our time and to the point. Thank you so much.

FWIW, if you add the VIN the app will show all recalls and technical service bulletins. It will also show the factory warranty info. Now that the auto parts stores (at least near me) won’t clear a code for you it’s a cheap way to get it done.
Do auto part stores really not clear codes anymore? Damn, sad what it's become. As far as adding the vin, I come from the days when automaker employees would go on forums say "what's your vin? I can help you troubleshoot this problem!" Then they'd void the user's warranty because their mods were in the signature. So I'm a little wary haha.
It takes a few seconds to read engine codes, all the app does is give you the cause and possible solutions, but it can erase engine codes and check engine light it's not that big of a piece of shit for 20
You are more than welcome to your opinion. I hate having apps on my phone so the app is a no for me because I can google codes and get the same result.
I can't remember exactly how to pair the two, which means it's probably very easy because I'm a moron. I believe I had the reader plugged in (and reading codes correctly) then went to the app and connected to the reader that way. You may need to go into Bluetooth settings and select the reader manually. As far as the usb-c port it's there to program the reader by the factory. No use for the consumer as far as I know
Yeah 0dtc means no code. What vehicle are you having an issue with? If you can make it to an autozone they check codes free. Some higher end scanners can stream live data as well
@@JessLehman yeha I know, I wanted to buy it for emergencies. 2019 Subaru Forester AWD Hearing some whirring noise for the last 2500 miles and hoping it’s just a bad wheel bearing but I want to check the transmission without paying a shop $140 for a diagnostic test
You could try putting the driven end(depending if it's fwd or rwd) on jack stands and putting the car in gear. It would at least eliminate the non-driven end being a wheel bearing.
Dang well... I wish you good luck! I don't think any scanner would be able to find the source of the noise but that's just my opinion. Couldn't be the tires? Both my trucks have bad road noise between 60-68mph
I noticed mine won't clear the code .. the yellow light comes on, on the scanner and when I hit clear , it beeps 3 times and code remains Any idea how to make it clear with this " pos" ?
Thanks. Was trying to see if it clears the check engine light. And I freaking hate that we're moving into an app world. I hate apps. Imagine you frequent or use 100 sites/things, that's a hundred apps. Fml
I have had varied luck. Sometimes, you can leave the key where it is and unplug/plug the code reader back in and it works. Sometimes you have to start over.
If you had the mental capacity to listen to what he said, you wouldn't have asked this question. He discovered it gives you a repeated ERROR message before reading.
I am in fact cheap. I have a $500 tuning cable/reader/scanner I can't use because the current net framework is no longer compatible with my laptop. Until I can get a new laptop, cheap sh** it is. Plus who knows, maybe this video will help out someone who can't afford the more expensive chinesium from Walmart like you have.
@@JessLehman Mine works. If you paid $500 for an OBD scanner that cant be used now due to outdated and discontined software updates then you got ripped off on that purchase. At least as you claimed the cheap sh** Walmart HT100 scanner did work and gave codes for one car you mentioned. Even giving ERROR warnings shows its doing something. Hows the $500 outdated dinosaur thats off the market working for you?
So aggressive for no reason. This video is meant to help someone who bought the cheap reader, not to stroke a Walmart tools fanatic's ego, sorry. My cable is fine. The laptop is old. As much is evident if you read the comment properly the first time. Have a good day.
Negative af. Why do a review video?? My apologies I feel like I'm being rude for saying that to you like this is your video and I didn't have to watch it but it just caught me off-guard like I went to this video because it was a review of the product and it was like so negative off the bat apologize you probably have a bad experience with it I don't know. I honestly tried to retract my comment but it already posted so I'll just go ahead and apologize have a good day but thanks for the information.
Don't apologize. I'm not going to lie about a product(especially if it's a low quality low-dollar tool). That could do a lot more damage to someone trying to get an honest review. As the saying goes, "If the truth shall kill them, let them die."
This is the best review I could find for this product.
Thank you very much! It's like a minimum wage employee(in my area anyway). It works when it wants to 😂

AutoZone still does it plus other freebies
Thanks for the honest review and heads up with the app privacy concerns. Keep up the good work!

Excellent video well done. Short and informative.
My 08 Grand Marquis goes into limp mode after a bit, trin to narrow it down before replacing ever damn sensor in the car
Fingers crossed! Let me know what codes it throws
Thanks for taking the time to do this!
Of course!
How do you pair the reader to the phone....and what is the usb c port on the bottom of the code reader for.... Are they related.

@JessLehman got it....I think, I'll have to plug in the car this weekend and re-read this when I'm in the car....thanks man 👍
Let me know if it works! This thing is super fidgety I swear
0 DTC, I guess that means there is no code? Was hoping to do a transmission check with this

@@JessLehman maybe. It’s AWD though. The noise only happens between 45-65mph though

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!
This video was brilliant!
Says it has live data stream but I can't figure it out
It seems this f****in' thing has more issues than I thought. I have no idea about live data
Mine says 0 codes but check engine lite is on 😂😢😢😢😢
That tracks. Try clearing the light with the app maybe?
I noticed mine won't clear the code .. the yellow light comes on, on the scanner and when I hit clear , it beeps 3 times and code remains
Any idea how to make it clear with this " pos" ?
I did not have this issue. You can try the default disconnect the battery on the vehicle for 10+ minutes and see if that clears it
Ty for the video! You remind me of the red guy from smiling friends
Not gonna lie I don't know who that is, but I'll look it up haha
Do u have to charge it
No, this scanner draws power from the obd port.
Thanks.
Was trying to see if it clears the check engine light.

Yeah that's why I deleted the app. If I recall correctly you can clear the check engine light with the app
Lots of mouth breathers in your comments. Thanks for the video.
Literally laughed out loud. 😂 Thanks!
Thank you....
Thanks this helped
Do you have to restart the engine each time u get error code
I have had varied luck. Sometimes, you can leave the key where it is and unplug/plug the code reader back in and it works. Sometimes you have to start over.
Are error codes consecutive
Unsure what you mean by this.
I just bought one so I am green here, never used one….wish me luck, at least it was only $20😮
My thoughts exactly. $20 why not. Godspeed spiderman.
If it’s a piece of shi/ then why did you buy it
Because it was $20. And I only found out it was a pos after I bought it. Not before.
If you had the mental capacity to listen to what he said, you wouldn't have asked this question. He discovered it gives you a repeated ERROR message before reading.
