I love the parallel mode on the JB-2. It got me thinking and I set up a split signal on chain with a volume pedal on one side that allows you to mix an effect into your basic sound. Using it with an overdrive gives you a real time variable distortion for emphasising certain sections.

    • @hairychris444
      @hairychris444 2 роки тому +2

Gigrig have something that does this called the Wetter Box. You can use an expression pedal to control the mix. I have one, it's a cool utility. Not the cheapest solution but built like a tank!

@@jackodonnell3463 that’s like saying going 🤙 to pretend you’re on a phonecall is “unrelatable” because younger kids don’t do that.
It’s not a universal thing, but in this day and age, nothing is. Dude’s coming from his own experience, and honestly, it’s a classic example that’s always used. And they do still sell cheap sets that go out when one bulb goes out.
And honestly, give young people *some* credit. I’m pretty sure they’ve seen Xmas movies that are older than they are. And some of them probably grew up with older sets that their parents or grandparents had.

I had a friend come from the states and he had among other pedals an angry charlie (v2) and I played around with it, using it in the end as a "booster" pedal and before the main distortion, and the sound was devastating. Fell in love with it after that. Great work man.

  • @TheBeriking

The sound on “1000 punches” and “Orion’s Belt Buckle” was just fabulously unbelievable. Had to immediately rewind and listen to these again.
I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach it won’t be long before the JB-2 will be a permanent resident next to the Charlie Brown, Double Barrel, and AT+ (not to mention all the others) that are already here… I really thought I was covered on that end.
Apparently there is no such thing as “enough overdrives and distortion pedals” when you watch the JHS show.
On the other hand, you just *know* the moment I order it there will be a waza JB-2W announced…

Just got mine today, played about an hour and frankly, I don't want to stop. It's just so much fun! You're essentially getting TWO great pedals and all their combinations AND... the parallel mode. This one is huge for me. It sounds and feels so damn good. Couldn't resist and hooked it up to my DD-5 in Reverse mode :)
Folks, if you love drive pedals... just get this one, you won't regret it.

Congratulations, and I really do love mine! I am very hard to please when it comes to overdrives and distortions. Lots of them either leave me wanting or hating. I used an Aguilar or some whacky 4558 off brand that I loved and an old Rat. Then I started modding & building my own pedals, with the same results.

I have the JB2 and I love it! Favorite setting is parallel mode. I honestly use the Blues Driver setting for most things, but if I need my guitar to stand out and be full, the parallel is where it's at. So many possibilities with tones though.

no lie this is my favorite distortion pedal. i got to play a buddy's JCM800 years ago and could not get the sound out of my head. and when i tested this out, i'd finally found it again. so thank you, i can get that sound without shelling out for a JCM800. probably not unusual but i use it for atmospheric black metal. the harmonics from the JCM distortion are perfect for tremolo picking, and blending it parallel with the blues driver side did WAY more for it than i expected it to.

Angry Driver is on my "pedals to get when I have a bit more money after my debts are paid off" list. And I just paid them off on the 1st of June just gone.....

Thank you so much for sharing the history lesson and the demonstration. The pedal is very versatile and now I need one lol! You asked so I will also say that my favourite Fiona Apple album is her first, Tidal. I bought my first CD player in my last year of high school in 1993 and Tidal was the second CD I ever bought. And of course, because I only had two CDs, I played the heck out of it and it is still great today.

Really col video guys. That last jam really had me thinking Pearl Jam.
I have played around with this pedal a bit and even managed to get an HM-2 Buzzsaw type sound out of it.

I absolutely LOVE Fetch The Bolt Cutters. It is one of the best albums of the last 10 years (or more?!). However, Tidal is still my favorite. I’m not sure how much of it is nostalgia (I listened to it A LOT when it came out) but there is just something magical about that album. Great episode. It certainly piqued my interest in the Angry Driver. I recently purchased my first JHS pedals (the Colour Box V2 and the Clover) and I am very happy with them. Thank you!

I dig the parallel mode! It's an easy way to get a bit of the flavor of running two amps without the ridiculous hassle of running two amps. Incidentally, One of my favorite sounds is using my Bass BMP set to low-ish gain on the clean blend setting (functionally, a parallel setting) into an AC15 that's just starting to break up. The way the clean & fuzz meld together while maintaining some distinction is pretty wonderful.

Every Fiona album is my favorite! I’m a huge rock nut but her albums for me are right up there with my zep Hendrix and rush records. Purely original musical genius!

I love Fetch the Bolt Cutters! One of my favorite albums of 2020! It’s tough to pick a favorite song, but “Heavy Balloon” pops up in my Spotify shuffles a lot, and I’m never mad about it.

I have this pedal for a long time. I love it. It's my "daily driver" :D
One thing I would have to say, if I may, is that having on/off option included in all selector positions is a small short coming.
I have an ES5 also, I would love to be able to have 1 selection where I can select red/blue/purple by using CTL and the Boss on/off switch. I can turn off the loop if I want the pedal off.
Anyway, great video about my fav pedal, thank you!

    RECORD TIME SUGGESTION:
    HUM’s “You’d Prefer An Astronaut”
Please check it out if you haven’t. This album takes “shoegaze” and smashes it with walls of trippy driven guitars, backed by unique, jaw dropping, drums. It a perfect use of the “shades of colors” sound, and “beautiful quiet to heavy” formula. It blows me away that after 20 something years of listening to this album,Im still hearing new sounds and textures. They are still so influential to me and countless others..
