@@2CSST2 lol actually while the rest of the world struggled, I havent really even effected. Also I'm asymptomatic, I've never suffered covid, I haven't lost anyone from it, etc.
Well my aunt & uncle have been married for 50 years with three kids. She is the classic Negotiator (compassionate, communicative, teacher/soccer mom) to his Director (logical, organized, detail-oriented engineer).
I do not know of any parents that hope their child finds another parent, and comes home to declare, "I found new parents, you're out and they are in." Hence, where the words "until death us do part" comes into view. So I definitely agree we are monogamous creatures. I also do not know people that care more for the dog their neighbor owns than their own. I think many are confused with the word monogamy, we all seek it, whether it's our parents, our siblings, our pets, or our community. No one likes a cheating leader! As for a mate, oh yes, we do seek to find the "love of our life!" In fact we will leave a spouse if we should find them later! Driving us towards monogamy again!
You last statement about finding the love of your life, and leaving your spouse, completely contradicts your statement about “until death do us part”. What is it? Commit or don’t commit?
Since monogamy is a social construction, for the people who follow it, yes it's natural, doesn't mean also that polygamy is unnatural. I prefer to believe and follow monogamy since it's simpler and better in my opinion.
Thank you so very much! I felt so discouraged with my relationship, love etc. porn and women every man I’ve been with has enjoyed and continues to hide it 😞 it has made me feel as though it’s not real to be loved. Thank you for saying this ❤
I think its a society problem, actually, not a gender one. I've observed similar problems in both men and women. Many people in general are simply selfish and have little compassion for others as long as they benefit themselves. I can't speak for other places but this does seem prominent in the US.
If you know more about her four types, we all have all four of them, it's just some are more prominent than others,.. Hence it the mix. And the background music is annoying and distracting.
....MBTI is also very heavily based on your emotions/situation at the time. I know your comment is old and you probably know this by now, but I just wanna clarify/add-on that the MBTI test is also heavily flawed.
MBTI is not scientifically valid. BIG 5 is the most scientifically valid, but even that changes slightly with your mood. Those that change the most with you mood (MBTI) I would consider less accurate.
I have always wondered if humans were monogamous by nature. I do believe that we are, if you look at how humans and even apes have a stronge ties between a male and his favorite female, and vice versa, they stick together as long as possible, when all others leave because they form these intense emotional bonds. look how cave men lived, laws of ancient Egypt, Greece, Native Americans, Myans, the Chinese and even in ancient African and middle eastern cultures (where cheating spouses could be killed or lose limbs...even sultan had the men protecting the harem castrated to prevent emotions or sex between the help and the wives and even sultans could choose one wife or had a special favorite) , there were always laws about relationships, infidelity and marriages. Religions all over the world, have descriptions and explanations of relationships marriage and rules against infidelity. all Countries in modern times have laws, requirements and punishments, for marriages, infidelity and definitions of relationships and marriages, even tribes of people in Africa. these laws and religious descriptions didn't come from no where... laws and beliefs are driven by a common thinking of the general population of people in an area or country, since these laws and religious have been with humanity since the beginning and societies of people all over the world feel and think the same way about Monogamy ... it really is proof that monogamy and long life bonds are part of human nature...not just culture a society ...those are all actually formed by common human behavior.
One could say "Men are all the same" - because which ever type of WOMAN you are, you will tend to choose the same type of man - hence, all your men do look the same....
I would say I fit somewhere between type 2 & 3 but 3 more than 2. Logical, methodical and usually seek out someone somewhat similar but a bit more of my opposite, to me that's balance. More specifically if you're into the MBTI 16 personalties types of data I am a ENTJ-P this would describe me probably flawlessly.
Dear Helen, you said in your TED talk that human brains are wired to be in love in three, different and independent ways, with multiple people. With that in consideration, I am very confused about your take on monogamy.
It's not true that Monogamy is Natural (on the expense of other options). It's more like - TPTB force it to be the only choice. And it's definitely not Good.
Somehow I don't agree with Dr. Helen Fisher; she references things that are Biology and Medicine, so the studies, if they exist, would be in peer review journals. But there are no citations. She is a psychologist. A psychiatrist has a background in medicine, but a psychologist doesn't. Even a 1st year psychology student knows the four types she merely renamed Ptolemy's "choleric, sanguine, phlegmatic, and melancholy," I recognized them from the descriptions. Past behavior is always the best predictor of future behavior (from Psych. 101) So, I predict she will take basics of psychology and reinvent them so they make her sound far more qualified than she actually is. Or "once a liar then always a liar" as my Grandfather used to say. He said the same about deceivers too.
One correction she is a Biological Anthropologist, still not qualified as a doctor of medicine or a psychologist, but she talks about psychology and Endocrinology as if she is an expert and I still can't find the studies she supposedly used. My opinion of her just went down too. I surveyed Anthropology classes while in college and they have some really screwed up ideas and theories, which I think are based more in wishful thinking than science.
She's an biological anthropologist. Look at the right journals (for example Journal if Comparative Neurology, Journal of Forensic Sciences, Neuroendocronolgy Letters, Cerebrum etc. ) and read her six books. Lol. She's a researcher at the Kinsey Institute, Indiana University and a member of the center for human evolutionary studies at Rutgers University. Her colleague was Dr Lucy Brown. Together they put over 75 people into a brain scanner (fMRI), which back then was top of the notch science. She received her PhD in physical anthropology. Hence she has professional knowledge about brain chemistry and neurochemistry. Maybe you should look up physical anthropology instead of confusing it with anthropology. Boy, do your research before you start to complain about her being unscientific. Lol Shall I add that her publication about the fMRI scans was chosen as one of the best 100 academic articles of 2010…?
Some wit remarked once that "Marriage(monogamy?) is popular because it combines the maximum of temptation with the maximum of opportunity.". Well you're just avoiding the wrong kind of people. Notice I said "people" because, while important to who we are, there are women who would do the same, gender does not define us. Helen Fisher understands this. You're wrong. She's just talking about biological drives. It's true. Men do want to be needed by a woman. Your status is based largely on what kind of utility you are. I'm not saying that's fair. But that's the way it is.
+Fok you.... go on, shout at the clouds some more.
You sound like someone who needs a women really bad but can't admit it to even yourself, probably because you've been hurt bad and can't trust. I hope things have gotten better for you!

In the beginning, God created man & woman. The theory of evolution has taught us otherwise & created most of the problems we see in relationships.
The only thing I am certain of after watching this video is...this lady has no clue what she is talking about. There are how many men on this planet? and you want to fit all of them into one of four boxes. You understand men about as much as most men understand women.
I don't agree completely, but she seems to know where men belong (three words) and what they want.
He dating website is terrible

Did you all hear that? She said we're all naturally inclined to pair up and "rear" our child. xD
