I started in november, i just hit 2k on my 90 day total sales. Thanks to youtubers like Jride flips, technsports, Flippin aint easy, shed flips, one foot flipper, and flipping junk i have a 100 item store with 40 sales in just under 2 months with a 5 a day listing habit while working a 9 to 5. also 8 positive feedback as seller and seeing 1-3 sales a day consistently for the last couple weeks. The advice these channels give is GOLD. I live by sell through rate and if not i price down until it creates a fast sell through rate. Thank you jride

Not being negative. Just letting your people know my experience. I run a repair shop so I started out with a ton of electronics and electronic parts and those frauds were about 1 in every 50 transactions. Until I started letting people know in my description I record the whole process of testing, shipping and returns. Electronics are a lot more likely to get at least fishers for refunds.

I'm a new seller on Ebay. I put the cost of shipping supplies in the price of the item being sold and the buyer pays for shipping at Ebay rates. So far, this is working nicely. I never list an item without having the item pre-weighed and pre-packaged if it's hard goods. Clothing is kept sealed in a zip lock bag with the item number on the bag and packaged when sold.
Thanks for your videos as they have been very helpful. Picking up high sell thru items has been a huge help to our business!

Jake, thank you for pointing out the "eBay island" aspect. 3 months after I retired, my former supervisor called, and asked me to please come back, because sev new hires didnt show up. (All young, which doesnt make a good statement for modern youth in the workforce.) Anyway, i returned to work for another year; then worked 3 years at state parks, because my car bit the dust and I had to replace it.
Long story short, after I got my new- to-me vehicle paid off, I realized I wanted to work for myself. I got into eBay and have never looked back. 😊😊

Love the advise. Especially to tell people to get as much feedback as possible through buying before selling. Luckily I've been on ebay just as a customer since 2001. So I had a ton of feedback long before even considering being a seller. I noticed I never got those blatant scam attempts that a lot of newer sellers speak of.

Anyway, I've already made a few mistakes, and I'm sure I'll make some more. This video really resonated with me. I was one of those who got carried away sourcing and I have quite a bit of inventory, fortunately I can sit on it a while. I've shivered with adrenaline paying for items that were cheap only because I already know how much I will be able to flip it for. I don't sell tat, but high value items. Works well for me, keeps me out of a 9-5 office job and allows me to have more family time working from home. A scammer or courier losing my item in the post can seriously eat in to my profit margins big time though which is the only downside to my business and it has happened.

I’ve found that my customers really appreciate this - they’re less likely to get upset if they’re slightly unhappy, I get wonderful feedback and sometimes it makes their day. The loneliness is real! I quit a career of 15 years and busted my butt for the first 5 months on my eBay business and at the age of 37 I had my first ever round of depression that lasted for about six months and I finally figured out why and it was the lack of a social life. It took me a little while but I snapped out of it and I'm back to the grind again but I make sure to hangout with some of my old coworkers and it's been enough to keep me happy and rolling on. When I left I had accounted for every worst case scenario I could think of but in the end what affected me the most is missing the guys I spent almost half of my life with. I know it sounds corny but I liked the guys and my job but it was the company that had slowly changed and made me want to leave.

When it comes to focusing on asking listed vs focusing on sales goals those are kind of hand in hand but it rewrite understanding all through rate.
The best advice is to find your MINIMUM acceptable sell through rate and then you a target of listed items that are all at that minimum or higher. If you do that and researched your STR properly than the sales will follow the listing quantity
Also, recommending people only look for items for 100+% str is absurd, I've been trolling for years and do well, but I could go months without finding a single 100% str item that's profitable

Been kind of a “hobby” casual seller for a while and I’m just starting to explore the idea of stepping up to a more structured and intention part time side business. Just wanted to tell you- your channel has been the most helpful and informative channel I have found and I find myself coming back to it each time I have a question. 💯 And so far- I always find content you have that has the answer.

I've had more returns the past week than I've had sales this week so now I'm in the red with them this week.
I sell clothes and I provide measurements.
My return rate has been about 3% for the past 3 years.
I've had so many returns this week that it bumped my overall return rate to 7%

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this channel. Best one I've found. I'm not sure I'm looking to start a business. I thought about eBay because my daughters have a stack of barely-used American Girl doll clothes and accessories and play sets (we had a friend who worked for American Girl so we have a LOT) they've outgrown and I was thinking about selling it on eBay. Maybe that turns into something - I don't know yet. All that is to say, do I really need a label printer? I'm going to get a scale. I can afford that. But my husband has been out of work for 6+ months and I can't really justify the expense of a label printer. Can't I just handwrite addresses on packages? Thanks so much. Binge-watched videos yesterday and they're the first ones I've watched that I could understand. Love the channel!

I had that question too since I also don't have a label printer. My mentor told me that eBay has an option to buy the shipping label by either printing it out or be able to print it out and also have a QR code. When you're going to buy the shipping label, it gives you the option to either deduct it from your funds from your total eBay sale from the item, or you pay for the shipping label with your card. For me, I personally have my shipping policy to calculated shipping, and the customer pays for it. I buy the shipping label by having it deducted by the funds of the eBay sale and buy the printed-out version AND the QR Code. When I get to the post office, I show the person behind the counter the QR Code, they print out the label for me, stick it onto the package, print out the receipt, and that's it! It takes care of everything for you from having the addresses to sending out the tracking number for the customer! As long as all the dimensions on the packages are correct, you shouldn't have a problem. Now, this method isn't the best if you're selling more than four or five packages at a time. THAT is when a label printer comes in handy. However, if you're selling less than four or five packages at a time, then the method I described is perfect. I hope this helps!

@@scarlett9050I don't have a label printer, so I just print out my labels on 2-up (2 per page) adhesive labels. SO much easier than printing on regular printer paper, then cutting out the label and taping it on, using clear packing tape. But that's also doable; it's how I did things for the first cpl months.

Thanks for this video. Returns suck! I sold a Walkman CD a player the other day. It sold within a few hours. I got a return request for the player via eBay, stating that player was damaged and only worked when plugged in.
I responded to the buyer and informed him/ her that it worked fine with me when I used batteries. I never got a response.
Anyhow, I sent a label and I’m still waiting to get the item. I’m thinking the buyer had no idea that the battery was needed even though I made it clear in the listing. Now my funds are on hold and I’m out of the funds used for postage.

I dont think using zero free shipping is the best way to do things imo. I like to do a mix based on specific items i know might sell better with free shipping. I myself usually like the listings that have the included shipping in the price when browsing to buy things. But for a beginner and in most cases I do shipping additionally. Especially with heavy/big items. my 2cents

When I complained, they said thats impossible! Only cure was to change names! I went to my old username, and he had a full store set up under my name all in German! Wow! Let my credit card company know too! All of my previous purchases were there too, all USA but they said my claim was impossible! Ha! Always proceed with caution and be watching for scammy people!

I bought and then sold sports cards like you to get my feedback up. List great items at first. Get them sold. Over a year of selling...over 1,000 items sold finally had my first return request. Shipped a very well packaged diploma holder, but unfortunately it got slightly damaged on delivery. Buyer requested a return and sent a pic of the damage. No problem. I accepted the return but then they left me neutral feedback (that ebay refused to remove but I am ok with that) stating basically they were too lazy to return the item and just wanted a refund. It is what it is.

When looking at sell-through rate, how far back in time can a seller see in the eBay app? Is this time span something that can be changed in settings? In my very limited experience, the Solds don't go far back -- maybe a couple of months. I would love to see more like one year's worth of Solds. Also, how do you get the juicy eBay trending stats that you share in your videos? And I agree with the eBay Island factor. It can be a drag, even though I am an introvert. Thank you for your content -- much respect!

So a tad off topic, but didn’t know where else to go to ask….. Do you keep an inventory list apart from your listings on eBay or do to just let your eBay list be your inventory list. Aren't there other things you want to keep track of, that eBay didn't have available fields for, like purchase price or purchase location?
