best as always. Thanks! I am moving 90 miles to the east of this tiny little rural town of 400 people to a larger town of about 15,000 so that I can build my ebay business beyond my wildest dreams before I turn 70. Keep putting out the great videos kiddo.
If you are moving for an eBay business make sure to first go there and test the waters. A town of 15k people is actually not that big and unless its a super wealthy area you might not find stuff worth selling. I have driven to many different areas testing the waters and to be honest sometimes cities/areas of over a million people are not that good, but then some are amazing. If you look at any of the UA-camrs making 100k+ they all seem to live in Florida, Texas, Utah and California. There's a good reason for that and not all areas of the Country are equal when it comes to reselling, no matter what anyone tries to tell you. Just this last week I went to about 25 thrift stores in a city of 2 million people and it was terrible. I got 4 items and would have gotten maybe 30+ in those 3 days had I stayed home. It would be exciting to be able to totally pick up roots and chase a dream. I wish you the best of luck.
@@titantv9496 i’ve lived in a town of 450 people with the nearest grocery store 20 miles away, for 35 years. I’m a retired dispatcher and in Wyoming we are used to driving 100 to 200 miles a day just to go to work and back sometime. over the past two years I’ve built my eBay business up to top rated seller plus and that with all the long distance travel, I have to do to find items to sell. But I also have other resources such as closet, clean out and house clean out. Moving to this bigger town 100 miles away will give me access to more thrift shops and get a college town with a big university, so most of the clothing is donated is trending and more useful to young people and definitely more modern type stuff. But I also am a participant in the mountain man rendezvous where we shoot black powders and throw tomahawks and cook over a fire and reenact the 1840s so some of the clothes I get and some that I make and sell are completely different than what I do on eBay. I have a variety of income sources because my retirement isn’t enough to live on even in Wyoming. I’ve always done things by the seat of my pants and relied on the Lord to get me through it and give me insight. I appreciate your input. The closest really large city in Wyoming would be Cheyenne and it’s only 55,000 people. The next one would be Fort Collins and Denver, which I can go to and source quite well actually because there are two Goodwill outlets. I’ve been very blessed to be able to get enough inventory from the two tiny thrift shops in my area where I live right now and a few others within 100 miles. It’s all about work, it’s always about the work. Good luck in your endeavors as well.

You are incredibly right about people passing things up because they are big. I just bought a set of vintage pioneer speakers for $10 new in box on marketplace that sell for $300 on ebay. They sat listed for over a week and everybody else passed them up.
I just started 1.5 months ago with reselling and discovered the bins. I found your channel yesterday. I’m going to take it slow and continue learning. I believe in what you are saying. I wish you continued success in your reselling endeavors! 🎉
Your advise at around the 20 minute mark is spot on! Been selling via grace sales and thrift stores for a little less than a year. I have almost 300 items in my store and I’m at the point now where I am looking back and wondering why I even posted some of those. It’s a learning curve and when we move to fast there is more of a chance of failure. Love the channel keep making videos on things like this!

I’m just a few minutes in and I can’t believe how good the products look and how cheap you get them for at a thrift store. It must be your state and area. I think my stores here have caught on and they list their stuff half of what it goes for on eBay. I’m talking about Salvation Army. I haven’t been to Goodwill yet. Just getting started. Thanks
My local Savation Army charges $1 for any item that is the color of the week on Saturday. That is where I get most of my items. If I'm only paying $1, I can offer them for less than the competitors. I sell a lot of menswear that is like new. I routinely buy men's suits for $1 and sell them for $50 within a few weeks. I have also picked up several repeat buyers because my quality clothing and great prices.
Yep my good will looks up all electronics and sells for 1/2 of eBay listings not solds.the stuff he’s buying for 6/8 are 30-60. Thank god for garage sales.

Just listed my first Canon Digital Camera. Had quite a few viewers and watchers within seconds of listing. I can honestly tell you I've never had that kind of traffic with my usual clothing shoes and accessories. I think I am going to make the switch. And with the new frame of mind of looking everything up to the T serial numbers etc finally understanding what sell through rate really means even though I knew but I didn't really understand it until you explained it in the last video of yours that I watched. Thanks so much for all your information!
I've not been at this long, but your channel has provided me so much value! The sell-through rate has really helped me understand why some of my items just don't move. I'd never had that explained before. It's huge. You mention waiting almost 2 years before starting your UA-cam channel. That's also a side income! Have you ever talked about income from that? I always find it inspiring. If you'd rather not then it's all good. Thanks again!
One thing I learned about searching with sell trough rate is that sometimes upc won’t work for a media items, but the simple tittle works for me when ever upc won’t

Long time listener, first time commernter. I ran too fast and need to slow down. Thanks for the wake up call. I have a few questions: Most important to me: 1) What is a "good sell thru rate" Does everyone have a different definition? I know you say 100% sale thru rate a lot but one thing I sell is DVDs at a low sell the rate and still make $1,000 a month on them. I just have a bigger inventory and selection. Do you have a sliding scale based on profit or stick to a strict 100% sale thru rate even if it is a 10x opportunity. 2) Do you consider the time value of money? You had said you would buy something that had a $2 profit if you know it will sell quick. I can't sell anything for anything less than a $4 profit because it is a big waste of time finding it, listing it, packing it and going to the post office. 3) I know you talk a lot to beginners but do you consider having positives like 100% feedback rating, 15K+ sales, free returns, lower price than competitors, etc in the sell thru rate or just 100% straight up regardless. 4) How do you test vintage electronics if the a/v adaptors, cables and components are also rare and vintage? I bought some and realized I didn't have all wires and components to test a 40 year old electronic. Enjoy the content! Keep educating us, it is helping.
Can you break down your time freedom while doing this business? I'm really enjoying it so far but I'm nowhere near where I need to be to go full time yet. Today is my 1 year anniversary of reselling on Ebay so I'm so thankful for your amazing and informative videos. Lots more to learn.
Below standard on Ebay and Jride is still making sales. I think I can ....I think I can. Little engine that wont quit. Square peg round hole keep slammin with that hammer.
I will say great advice and everyone is different snd that's why there is no obe solution. I'm starting with bigger items because I have a lot of old tools and power tools in the garage that still work so I have items that I can learn the shipping similar to your stereos. Also there is another form for Charmander. It goes Charmander, Chameleon, Charizard, and now Mega Charizard😁
I have two big sansui like that I re rubbed down varnished, put new foam in just got to spray the grills, cost me £6 for speakers £25 for foam but loads left for other projects,
I like to move things too, and touch them less than 2 times once listed. I see sellers lower prices, turn down offers and item is still listed years later. I like to price them realistically and let them go Bye bye
So when we see hundreds of listings for an item but only a few solds, even though those sold listings contain many many multiples, doesn't that mean only a VERY FEW SELLERS are having success selling that item? So then we need to look for any differences between the "solds" and the "unsolds" listings. Many times, the key difference is free shipping. This is why i am very leery of retail arbitrage, esp. with inexpensive items, including some makeup items. It seems there are high volume sellers who are routinely able to offer free shipping as standard. I am not able to do that and still make a profit. Still hoping to learn and researching. Any thoughts on this? Keep the videos coming. I am learning a lot and my sales are increasing!
I have 2 questions. First, do you do any of the eBay percentage promotions on your items? Second, when you use one of the cross listing apps, does it pick up all you already have listed on eBay or do you have to go back and add each one? I've been doing eBay as my main income for almost a year and I'm ready to cross post. It makes me a little ill to think I would have to go back and redo all of my items to get them to another platform. Love your videos. I think they are the most informative eBay videos on You Tube. I have learned a great deal from you and will continue to do so. You are clearly a man of pure heart that only desires to see others succeed using your experience.
I'm at the end of the video and I'm thinking this is very good information and I appreciate your tips & also thinking how much you look like the young Ron Howard from happy days:)
long time ago i had a leather binded book listed for 95 dollars, someone message me saying that i was crazy to list the book for that price, etc. etc. two days later the book sold full price...LOLOL
With regard to pricing, I notice that you list a lot of items plus shipping vs free shipping. When I look at lowest sale price for similar I add free shipping vs plus shipping as a sales technique. I’m curious if you price to meet or beat lowest price shown, median price, or check sold price and go from there?
I love your channel. Would it be possible to explain if it is not such a great effort for you how you manage the shipping cost or did I miss maybe a Vid about this?
I love when someone tells me I’ll never sell an item for what I’m asking. I’ve found that many times after receiving that message the item will sell. Kinda like reverse karma. lol
For someone to take the time & see Why? the big difference in experience of a particular thing & be patient & understanding & research the information is someone who is indeed doing the best they can to resolve the issue 👏👏👏👏 good on you Jake Ryder ❤ making those necessary sacrifices are essential 👏 👍 😉 😀😮
I sell vintage electronics and stereos. I have a system set up and insert the component I intend to sell into the system to make sure it works. So if selling a receiver I just hook up that receiver to the amp and speakers and I’ll soon know if it works.
Amazon is a great tool, but they control too much. Buyers are refunded no questions asked out of the seller pocket. They refunded a $700 Roomba I sold because of an issue with UPS and I never got it back. Yes, the buy box system allows your to sell crazy amounts in a short time, but I didn’t find it worth it unless you have thousands of units.
For Amazon FBA do you think going to places like Menards or Home Depot and getting clearance items is worth it if they’re new box? Or do you have any experience with those stores/type of items?
I sell 90% Sterling & gemstone jewelry. Also fashion jewelry and vintage jewelry. First it was the leftover from my old business. Now a customer has sent me a huge box of more sterling and gemstone jewelry. I just paid the shipping. I live in a motorhome so have limited storage
Hi Jride, your videos are inspiring and much appreciated! Quick question ... I recently inherited a ton of high end skin care products from my mother, unused in original packaging. However, most have expired, expiration dates.? Many items are discontinued but still sought-after.? Should I list these items or disregard all together? Thanx Dani
I’m referring to $0 profit unsellable at a price. In retail arbitrage a lot of times you are able to get an item for a set amount and make a profit at that by cost. But then other people get their hands on that item and flood the market at lower prices. And this continues until you buy something for two dollars that only sells for seven dollars shipped and at that price when including fees and shipping you make no profit or even lose money. That’s what I’m referencing to.
I have a question. I have two tower speakers up on eBay. My question is how to charge calculated shipping on something like that if there’s two items that ship in two boxes. I did add a quantity of two to my listing with calculated shipping so they would get charged for both. But seems like it should be easier than that. It’s causing confusion and buyers are asking questions. Maybe next time I’ll try free shipping and go off the high side of the calculated ship price.
I have been selling online since 1993. i remember the good ole days when it was fun. There are so many rules and hoops to jump through now it is pure misery. When someone asks me what advice I can give them for selling online to make money, I tell them easy answer. Do NOT do it! If it weren't for my experience and the fact that I list items that I am the ONLY online seller of, I would have sunk long ago. I can't even comprehend what it would be like to try to start up these days from scratch. Good luck if that is your path. Lol!
I was still a kid in ‘93 but did start using eBay about ten years later and have 19 years registered as an active seller. While there’s not much consistency with volume over those near two decades, as some years my day job was either too time consuming or it brought in enough $$ that it wasn’t worth the time listing anything less than $500 or so. But for at least 8 out of those 19 years, I had a minimum of 1000 items sold per year, and 3 of those 8 years it was my main source of income, had employees to help & and my yearly transactions grossed over $250k. That being said ive seen it all, I know the best and worst parts but more specifically I’ve seen the changes for worse as they happen and each time it hits my income (which hits theirs too in fees) and pushes me closer to the edge of quitting eBay for good and just keep using Amazon for new items and local sales instead for the used. You’re correct in saying the rules and the hoops to jump thru have been crazy especially so in the last few years. The most wild thing as of late is the returns, more specifically the MBG aspect and buyers abusing it to get free labels for returns. It used to be wonderful when you could list something for parts not working, no returns, (obviously being honest and detailed in the listing, never trying to trick people just don’t want to pay shipping for people who don’t read or pay attention) and after the sale there was NO RETURNS. Just like you set in your listings, just like the way it should be. Well now buyers can return anything for any reason without paying for a shipping label but still getting 100% of their $$ back. Than you’re out on the price of two labels and you items probably broken now or stolen /swapped. A lot of buyers have figured it out that all you need to do is pick a MBG covered reason for return and it’s a guarantee. For anything. Doesn’t matter what you say. I tested this and had my girlfriend buy a listing from me, a single new tennis ball (as a test). Shipped it 1 mile away to her condo she rents out. Had her open up a return case against me, claiming the item is not as described. She uploaded the same pic o used in my listing for the return case photos. I had her write the reasoning details as “ the ball is fine, no issues with that, I just realized I’m not good at tennis and don’t want it anymore and don’t want to pay for shipping”. So I went thru the process, “argued” that it’s not a valid reason to open a case. Got eBay involved. And guess what? They denied me, saying that I was at fault for not sending an item that was the same as the description. Even know the picture was literally my listing picture of the ball, and the description says there’s nothing wrong with it, and admits the real reason why returning. In 19 years I’ve never won a single case. And I’ve had much more obvious and worse cases with people admitting fraud clearly in the details. Not a single one and this experiment just confirmed that there’s no point in fighting, eBay does not protect sellers no matter how long or how much money you’ve made them, they only collect your $$ and lock your account when you fight back too much (that happened to me twice as well)
@@danielmartin3350 Yep. All you say is true. I could write a book about all of the ways sellers get screwed. You touched on just some of them here. I'm sure you know the other ways as well as I do. As I said, I miss the good ole days when it was fun. As long as you've been doing it, you obviously remember better days. But the golden age was the 90's. Buyers were just as protected as they are now except now the process for sellers is horrible. Even when ebay first started, if a buyer didn't receive a shipment, the seller was responsible. Same thing these days except as you say, we have to cover labels, etc. Plus even when customers commit fraud, they are found innocent. Amazon is worse than ebay when it comes to that. They will literally rule against you even when you have delivery confirmation saying it was delivered. I have had several of those. In which cases they are either lying or have a porch pirate. Either way, the seller is found responsible, refund is given and your account health is affected. I wish there were a way to sue sites like this for the things they do to sellers businesses.

I love to star selling cars toys such as majorette, matchbox and hot wheels on ebay, do you think they are profitable? I spent the previous months visiting stores and hunting rare great models.
Ok listening to the entire video as you suggested...the words started blending together.....think I am being hypnotized until @26:46 and realized I am here to look at those eyes...You are rare with those eyes...you will be successful on UA-cam...
J Ride you have to go both ways when you do that. There could be a listing with 100 for sell but it only counts as 1 for sale. So if you are going to count the solds that way you need to count the for sales that way as well.

Can you break down your time freedom while doing this business? I'm really enjoying it so far but I'm nowhere near where I need to be to go full time yet. Today is my 1 year anniversary of reselling on Ebay so I'm so thankful for your amazing and informative videos. Lots more to learn.
I believe you are completely sincere so I am going to listen until the end as you provide us with some great nuggets!!! Thank you so much!!!
Wow really great video man! Please keep up the good work and thank you so much for your time
Below standard on Ebay and Jride is still making sales. I think I can ....I think I can. Little engine that wont quit. Square peg round hole keep slammin with that hammer.
I just got one of those Orbis at a garage sale for $5/pair. Hope they work, lady said they did!
Dude you rock !!! Love you content!!
Id be way up on sales probably 10x now but die to my physical limitations... im still doing good for what i got going on. Sales are up amd up.
Thanks Jride! Found a Panasonic omnivision blue line vcr!
How do you ship sunglasses without them breaking?
The hyperfixation and hundreds of hours of UA-cam rings true for me as well. New subscriber here!
I have two big sansui like that I re rubbed down varnished, put new foam in just got to spray the grills, cost me £6 for speakers £25 for foam but loads left for other projects,
Lots of great information!
I like to move things too, and touch them less than 2 times once listed. I see sellers lower prices, turn down offers and item is still listed years later. I like to price them realistically and let them go Bye bye
How can you tell the sunglasses frames aren’t knock offs?
we need a web-tool when you can enter the keywords and it scans the pages and calculates the sell-through.
Salem NH -thanks for sharing!
I appreciate you, man.
Thank you for going over the sell through rate 😉
He looks even more like my dad! Lol

I love your videos. I just started trying cross listing on Mercari and was wondering what you do with shipping on that platform?
Thank you Jake!
Where are you from that there's a DI? Utah?
Did you say Kaleb Sells?! Is it possible there is another Kaleb Sells other than the one who lived in Oklahoma?
Do you do global shipping all the time?
What is your process in testing these items ? HOW you confirm they are working
long time ago i had a leather binded book listed for 95 dollars, someone message me saying that i was crazy to list the book for that price, etc. etc. two days later the book sold full price...LOLOL
I’m brand new
Thank you JRide!
Hong long is "fast"?
10:15 how do you test those receivers? I want to buy electronics like that but idk if they will work.
Please continue to share the eye glasses!
Hey friend. How do you test all of your speakers and stereos ? Or do you even test them ?
Im a charmander :D great video like always. how do you track the numbers of your business? im feeling lost on how to track quickly and with accuracy
This is an awesome story! Please keep me updated on the journey!
Does promoted listings help selling inventory faster?
Yes. It increases the velocity of sales that have demand
Thanx Dani
I have never had an item go to zero. I have some stuff that sells slow but just about anything can be sold if you sell it cheap enough
When you ship drivers/woods/hybrids that have headcovers, do you just use the head covers instead of bubble wrap?
Watched every second. Always do. I will cancel deal soldier…again. The tech is a lot for my brain. This video is permission giving so thank you. More practice of what I know is what I will do for more time. I’m doing just fine. Will add slowly and if I max out, so what!?
I enjoyed this style of video. It stayed interesting beginning to end.
No worries I only want people to use it if it’s beneficial for them😊
I thought I was a Charmander, but sometimes I feel like just an egg :(
Thank you!
Great video :)
I just started my ebay store and cross selling in mercari but I don't have any views. Any ideas on how to boost views? I list items following your methods but still no views. Any need general tips for starting a brand new store. Thanks!!
I apologize if you have already gave this information. Do you test every item to see if it works? Thanks!
Why are your eyes red though
J Ride you have to go both ways when you do that. There could be a listing with 100 for sell but it only counts as 1 for sale. So if you are going to count the solds that way you need to count the for sales that way as well.
Absolutely. I thought that was implied in the video.
I cant wait to get that Charizard energy going. Gotta flip 'em all.
When you buy brand-name products like the Apple AirPods and Nike air Jordans, how do you authenticate them. I've had bad luck so far.
When selling on Amazon , do you mostly do FBM or FBA ?
Never mind , I was still watching the video when I commented . You spoke about it lol
@17:37 love this album
could you recommend the UA-cam resale channels that you watched and which helped you a lot in understanding what items to buy?
