    I bought my Ebike because of the throttle. I pedal as I start out, but with my bad knees I know if I over-due things I can throttle back, so its a safety thing for me

    I've mentioned this before: for me, a lightweight bike is a need. Hey, I rode a pretty substantial (and heavy) Velotric e-bike this morning! I had to create a video at my day job about our Parks & Rec dept obtaining a fleet of e-bikes to use in place of cars whenever possible. I went from 0 to 20 mph in about 10 sec!

      @@joyfultrails thank you for watching Scott. Do you know this could sound like a drug deal going on. Hey go ahead try it don’t worry about it it’s free. No problem you just enjoy it. Good after a while. It’ll cost you. Lol in all honesty. we really love riding ours. We ride them like bicycles. With a little bit of assistance. Enjoy the rest your evening.

    I think the very first question has to be, how/where do you plan to ride? i.e. why are you buying an eBike at all?
    If it's just for fun/exercise that's one thing, it it's for shopping/commuting that's a completely different use.
    I got my eBike for the same sort of riding you do, mostly paved roads/trails, with occasional gravel sections, and purely for fun/exercise. I have done some shopping trips, but I don't like leaving it unattended for long.
    Since buying it I've upgraded to a bigger battery (21aH vs 15aH, I still have the spare), changed the handlebars, seat and seat post (in an attempt to improve comfort for longer rides), changed to thinner smoother tires (2.75" knobbly to 1.75" road tires), and changed the fenders (the original ones stopped nothing).
    The only thing I might still change is upgrading from a 500W to a 750W motor (and controller), which I could do for around $600, but decided for now that I don't actually need that extra power.

      @@ziploc2000 thanks for watching friend. That could be a good or not so good first question. The reason I say this is we certainly are riding much different places than what we had originally planned when we got into this. Really had no idea how many places there are that we can ride them. We’re a bit too far out in the country to use ours for any kind of shopping. When we are on road trips, we will sometimes stop somewhere, but very rarely. Are they ever out of our site for more than a moment. Enjoy the rest your evening.

    Thank you, I really enjoyed this video and I learned a lot. Subscribing now. 👍
    As a senior with no car, I was looking strictly for a commuter ebike. Weight was a major factor for maneuvering those tricky parking spots. My favorite aspect is that I am no longer hurting my knees.

    Excellent video to the both of you. I love your discussing the ins and outs of things to think about while taking these great rides. Very well done from a new subscriber. My son has one and I want one too, but live in an area with so much traffic (in NC), so still deciding.

    Great Video. I love Mrs Southern e-biking. Great points I have 4 bikes 3 e-bikes. One is an elctra Townie Go, and it has flat foot technology, easy and a blast to ride. Its the bike we put visitors on because anyone can ride it! Then I have a Trek Verve 4+s it's my road bike and the one I do longer rides on. And then finally my funnest bike a Velelctic Discover 1, and I ride her everywhere that is dirty, muddy or gross, she is my beater bike and I do things on it that I would never do on my good bike!

      @@WV_Smoke thanks for watching. What you are hearing was my fault. We have Bluetooth in our helmets so that we can talk to each other and usually when we are recording I will turn it down enough so that I can just hear what she is saying. On this one, I left it turned up too much and so you are hearing her wireless mic going into the camera along with my helmet speaker, going through my mic. My apologies. Typically I catch that. Again thanks for watching.

    Range is a huge issue for me lately. On my Hurley mini swell it has a 48V 10AH battery. When I first got the bike I was fine with the battery because I wasn’t really going far distances yet but now since I’ve been going longer miles the range on that bike is no longer enough for me. On that bike I do pas 2 mainly pedaling I can only get about 15 or 16 miles on a full charge before the motor stops giving me power and the more I ride it, the less reliable it gets for me going on some longer rides day by day

    Some e bikes have crank forward frames, these companies are foolish for not promoting this bonus. 6 3 0 is one of them, also Blix and Electra, but they're more expensive.

    • @southernebiking
      @southernebiking  Місяць тому

      @@pedrofernandez8729 you are exactly right, Pedro and thank you for watching. They really need to be promoting that because I have never heard anybody speak about it.
