Hi Tony, It's been while I started to follow you, I'd like to see strength training of a advanced boxer. For both lower body and upper body strength, I do weighted pull ups and dips, do they benefit me or should I quit and focus on different variations to improve my boxing power. My focus is to improve punching speed and power. I also take dumbells of 2.5kg to 7.5kg and holding them in my fist and begin to throw and pull back to improve my punching power , I'll look forward for your answer and help. You're appreciated with what you're doing, thank you.
Hi Tony could you do a video on how to load the body when throwing various combinations but also show how you might switch part way through if being countered. I know you’ve kind of covered it. Edit: could you do a video explaining the falling forward/into the punch method as used by Dempsey and Tyson.

Just found your channel two days ago, and I must say you are a great teacher sir. Your ambition to teach and little bit of light hearted humour is unmatched. Thank you for the quality videos.
I like how Tony tells us what he accomplished in a no nonsense way and without embellishments or telling us how great he is. Unlike many others, he always tells us how important it is to protect the head and the consequences of not doing so. If I was walking down a dark alley I would want Tony or someone like him with me. I also think I would simply enjoy just talking to him. Thanks Tony.
mate the best learn on their own and listen to their coach but this is also good information even if you watch videos for information or you teach yourself these things in the end all that matters is that you improve and you have to be proud of the progress that you make
Had a little boxing in college and learned just how much craft and hard work is involved. I've had a heavy bag in my garage for many years, and now that I'm seventy years old I find that it's excellent for cardio, stamina, and upper-body muscle tone, which is all the more important for me after having six-bypass open heart surgery three years ago. Watching this video I realize I'm doing some things wrong, but then I don't plan on getting in the ring or getting in too many street fights. Probably wouldn't work out too well. 😁
Also remember your breathing when placing shots on the bag, exhaling when exerting force and inhaling in a resting state. This helps with effective muscle recruitment and kinetic linkage. You can also use breathing as a feint.
I'm thinking about starting boxing when i'm 15. I'm 14 for now, i still got a few months, and i'm trying to get more knowledge about boxing in the meantime so i'll get a head start.
Ive been boxing for 14 years, not really competitively just spar with friends, and your footwork video helped me so much with my stamina. I never worked on footwork before because I thought mine was good enough. I been really doing footwork drills lately and surprisingly it has increased my cardio better than anything I dont know why. Great video Tony. As you would already know, the heavy bag is popular but can encourage bad habits. I wanted to add to the points you made - my old coach use to tell me: if the bag is swinging towards you and out (in a straight line) throw straight punches as the bag swings AWAY (great for footwork, timing), if the bag swings side to side, throw hooks and uppercuts, again, try to hit the bag as it swings away as it is very easy to simply punch the bag as it swings toward you, but is risking wrist damage over time. Lastly, the biggest mistake I continue to make is to telegraph my punches with my eyes when going to the body, so I try to keep my eyes focused on the one spot on the bag. Cheers from Oz.
I swear he has a camera up in my gym and is just making lists to make fun of me. I throw bombs...and get tired within 30 sec. I don't move my head. I don't move my feet. Proud to learn with you.!
Thanks for all the amazing tips!! 👍🏻👍🏻🤜
Thank you Tony… you are the best ..🤙🏾
Thanks Tony for your valuable time and for simplifying a at times complex sport.
Thanks mate! - You can check all my videos here: ua-cam.com/users/TonyJeffries1videos
I would LOVE to see a similar video done for an uppercut/cigar bag!!!
BTW, you have THE BEST videos on the Tube, bar none! You're always concise and direct to the point. It's not always easy to spend 18 minutes, for example, listening to someone talk about the proper way to throw a jab. You offer golden nuggets in a compact format. Cheers, Tony!

You explain things in great detail and for someone like me whose only been training since January, your channel is the only one I watch over and over again, the group I’m in here in South Wales (Boxer Tricks) are fantastic and I know they all hold you in high regards and I can see why.
