It is arguably the inaugural class of 1936. They had an accumulated total of 737 WAR, the highest total in history.
The first class at Cooperstown had five men: Ty Cobb who led in votes, followed by Babe Ruth who was tied for second with Honus Wagner, and then Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson.
These four men easily topped the 170-vote threshold. The three runner-ups from 1936, Nap Lajoie, Tris Speaker, and Cy Young got in the following year.
