When I first fitted mine, it used to catch a lot of water, to the point of it looking like mayonnaise. I thought there was something wrong with the engine, but now it only catches oil, so I concluded that since the previous owner was elderly and didn't use the car often, or go far, condensation had built up in the engine which the catch can managed to separate. The amount of oil you caught is not excessive - ZD30's are heavy breathers!

Thanks, nice bottle, good connection. The ProVent is not an oil CATCH can, but an OIL SEPARATOR, so you need to bleed it continuously and collect elsewhere. ProVent 200 is a fantastic product. Most efficient. BUT according to MANN, the ProVent 200 is good for 200 KW engines. And it is rather bulky. Check out the ProVent 150 and also check out the diameter of the inlet and outlet connectors (20 mm). So with a ZD 30 engine, it is a better fit. It also is much smaller, it is easier to find a place for it, it is lighter and its filter element lasts the same 1000 hrs (40-50 TKM) It is not cheaper thou. :-)

Hi - really helpful solution as I'm trying to fix the same system to my patrol. Do you remember what size reducers you used for the hoses to and from the catch can. I've been looking for 25mm to 12mm and 25mm to 16mm but they're impossible to find in the UK. Thinking of using 25mm to 10mm and hoping jubilee clips tighten them tight enough? Cheers!

Hi Micheal, I'm sorry I missed your question!
I can't remeber off hand the sizes I used, but I did get them off ebay... If your not already sorted, I'll be happy to find out what I used and get back to you!

@@JTactical Thanks mate. I had managed to source these after a lot of eBay trawling. Really helpful video. I must've watched this 5 times to make sure I got it right.

Seen a few videos on this, a few questions regarding pressurization but no answers....
Also if it collects that much oil over 5000kms why wouldnt it be already built in rather than a personal ad on?
    Cheers👍

      Hi Jimmy, Thanks for watching!
The Catch Can is not pressurised, but the Crankcase is. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Valve allows the air/oil mixture to travel back into the intake manifold. The Catch Can intercepts this mixture before it reaches the intake manifold to reduce the amount of blowby that gets back into the system.
I suspect the manufactures don't fit them as standard because of costs.

Are you using the correct sae oil recommended by manufacturer? The thinner the oil the more blow by you'll catch. I use 15w40 in my hiace

That’s good advice Andy, thanks. I was using 10w, but think I will go up to 15w like you. I will see how much difference it makes. 😊

If your piston rings are shot, you'll get more oil in the catch.
