Nice little rig setup. I'll give it a go. I have been making pully rigs but feel I have been missing some fish as I was using yellow mono. And the circle hooks not setting correctly as the fish pulled on the pulling rather than self setting the hook. Going to change to the fluorocarbon on the hook. And this running rig. I brought a breakaway sinker mold so can add in the hook clip myself. Can buy lead for $3 a kg. So cheap to make sinkers now. You should give it a go.
you mean the float above the hook? that's used to keep the bait drifting above from the bottom to avoid crabs and also make it more interesting for fish that aren't feeding hard core on the bottom. but mostly the float that is typically used is to help to keep the bait around the surface area
Really good tutorial again. Very informative. The impact sinkers are really cool.
they r but so hard to get a hold of sometimes
@@BasicFishingNZ yeah, I think I'll try and make up my own. Shouldn't be too difficult.
I cant wait to try this out over the holidays
good luck!

How I used to do it SA back in the day too. I miss those sinkers. Simple but effective. Nice. But now I just use a drone for max distance hahaha
Very informative, thank you
Glad it was helpful!

ua-cam.com/video/nzNM4v2SIzo/v-deo.html this shows the rig in action
thanks heaps bud, YOU ARE THE BEST
haha cheers
Thanks for the rig. Where do you get impact sinkers from? In my opinion that's better than imp clips
sailors supplies and i agree about the imp clips. they always break on me
thanks for the tutorial..i have a noob question tho...do you use floats to keep the rig upright?
you mean the float above the hook? that's used to keep the bait drifting above from the bottom to avoid crabs and also make it more interesting for fish that aren't feeding hard core on the bottom. but mostly the float that is typically used is to help to keep the bait around the surface area
I find after a few fish caught the Snell knot can slip and lose your hook, happened to me enough times now I don't use it. Thanks for the video
oh realy? interesting. cheers for watching
Good video my brother ,question
My bait keeps falling off
Do I put the hook all the way up exposing the tip of the hook to keep bait steady ?
well tying the bait with bait cotton definitely helps but also having a keeper hook can make a differences too.
When will be the next you go trout fishing in Rotorua?
well wen covid ends for good and its safe to travel is one and two is wen i find the good time to go
Just a quick question. Im a bit new but say would 35lb with a 4 or 3oz sinker work for this rig as thats the heaviest line i have got currently
oh yes for sure it would work. a good rule of thumb i usually follow is with 3oz weight I use 30lb and 4oz 40lb this is both trace and leader
@@BasicFishingNZ Thank you. Im still trying to learn the ropes around fishing as a whole so i appreciate it 👍
Great video mate. Question. I have a problem of rig snagging especially around rocky areas. Can I fit a floater with heavy sinker?
yes you could add a ball float to your hook rig. most anglers do that to create movement in their bait and to avoid paddle crabs
Does it have to be a rolling swivel?
can be any swivel but i prefer the rolling swivel. just spins more freely than a standard swivel n has a high breaking strain too
Hi bro Are you still working sailors supplies?and which day you working?
no not any more sorry
Were did you get your shoes from? They look perfect for fishing at the beach.
from sailors supplies. it is good but because its neoprene it can get a bit uncomfortable
@@BasicFishingNZ Thanks
Hi bro. You may want to layup and show the entire rig . It would have been great. But “It’s A Great video anyway.
cheers for ur feedback
Try 7-10/0 hooks with big baits.....then you are onto the trophies
