White dude from Texas here. When ya said, "I get it, but I'm tired of it." That spoke to my soul. Had friends of different races in kindergarten, have friends of different races now. Never cared. I'm prejudiced against willful stupidity and dishonesty. That's about it. Good video good sir.
I'm over here inventing new racisms! Have you ever given "foodcism" a thought? Here, I'll jump you off: Love black olives, _but t'hell with those good for nothing _*_green_*_ olives!_ Send them back where they came from!!!"
I'm white. My best friend is black. We talk about this stuff all the time and laugh our buts off! We know each other's families. An open mind and a good sense of humor opens doors faster than anything else.
One of my best fiends in HS was black, we gave each other so much shit we would have been arrested for hate crimes. However we didn't give a fuck and loved each other, it's what guy friends do to each other.
Absolutely..definitely beats the censorship, name calling, and shaming that happens simply from having different opinions. Jokes and comedy are invaluable in their ability to touch on sensitive topics
Disagree. Good Food and Drink does it faster. Then, open Mind and Humor come to effect. The holy trinity of cultural understanding: Food, Booze and something to make fun of.
Bill Burr is so successful because he finds so many references that everyone can relate to. He hits the nail right on the head. His observations are so right on the mark. He has his male female relationship issues and black and white relationship issue problems into sharp focus in his signature Bill Barr way. And he revels at the awkwardness of his fans and laughs at the uneasiness of talking about sensitive issues. The funny thing to me is that I kind of bought into all the negative press as i started broadening my horizons. What I found in my experiences of moving across the river from Detroit was that if you just be yourself people of any stripe will be more likely to accept me. Phoniness doesn’t fly with most people.
Are we allowed to not like our neighbor because of what they do, regardless of race? If so, why is racism always accused? In-fact, is bet someone calls me racist for just asking.
I'm a fan of him for his comedy. It's not a political thing for me at all or about relating, he's just really good at comedy that's why I'm a fan even if we may have different views on things.
Man, I love your honesty and openness. The reason that guys like Bill Burr are hilarious is because they are telling the truth and everyone knows it. I really don't know why we have to label people. Why can't we just get along with each other?
Thank you. I'm white, but grew up in a mixed race home with a sense of humor. I'm so tired of feeling like I need to acquire some of this white guilt I'm supposed to have.
I love getting into conversations with other people about our differences. I worked from a black dude for like 3 years and we delivered stuff in a truck everyday. So we would crack "racist" jokes at each other all the time. We would never stop laughing. Most fun I ever had at a job hands down.
+40 years ago in college we went there with the race jokes, a buddy who was absolutely charcoal started in with the white jokes.. ROFLMAO !! no one was thin skinned about BS stereotypes in jokes that were funny because there WAS+IS some truth to them.
No problem mentioning it's different. The fact you're being weird about it makes it seem like you really agree it's like wet dog...... You think its not "different" to her how oily your sh*t gets when you don't handle it?
@@Danielson1818 I was laughing at his facial expressions. He knows he was toting a fine line not to offend his woman and that is what I laughed about. I was like oh hell, choose your words carefully, edit if you need to lol.
I LOVE this guy. He brings up stuff we've always wanted to address, but were afraid of offending others. But they are things that absolutely need to be brought out. So many elephants in the room that need to be shown for what they are. Bill Burr is a master at it and is good for us all! :)
I’ve always found just getting along with everyone to be waaaay less effort than not getting along. Also the food is way better if you get along with everybody.
This man has true wisdom, man has seen and heard it all, it's all of us, we all discriminate for one reason or another, us being self-aware and talking about this as a whole instead of divided is so important, never be afraid to talk about this stuff! Thank you to Bill and MrLboyd!!
Having grown up as color blind as a white kid from Iowa can be (Iowa is 91% Caucasian) it wasn't until I enlisted in the Army at 17 that I learned that skin and hair care for other skin tones is very different from what my Scandinavian-decent butt knew. First time I smelled Magic Shaving Powder in the latrine at Basic Training was a cultural eye opener. I never knew black men could have razor burn issues from using razors. Fortunately a buddy explained it to me when I asked him what the F he was doing. 😉. If everyone had to join the military after highschool, we could seriously reduce racism in this country. All I see now is Army Green of my brothers I served with.
You nailed it! We all got along and felt like we were Brothers. The love was real! We need to carry that message to everyone. We are Not really different.
Just rumorously saying combining things is very difficult to say. You grew up color blind in a 91%, one color state or which means? Also it could have been a 98% white town. Just adding it's difficult to understand sweetness if you are never allowed to eat desserts all your life. Meaning you have no experience to know about sugars and sweetness. 91 90% something you don't have any experience. You only know what's normal to use so I was just saying I don't think the two are synonymous, If I came from a 95% African American town for me to say I'm color blind. I have no experience with people of another ethnicity. I'm not color blind, I'm just without experience
Fellow Iowa veteran that came from a mixed family. I seen skin color about as deep as hair color. I actually had a black girl friend on the Army and did permed her hair/straightened it. Got yelled at by black dudes when we went on leave to ATL. Got refused service by a Native American/Indian/Navajo (actually means theif in Hooi/Dena reservation. I’ve actually fit in the best being the white dude in a group or my group of Army friend that was 2 white dudes, a black dude and a Mexican dude who’s mom hoped the border to have him, went back to Mexico and he came back to the U.S. in 7th grade and learned English. He actually corrected us Americans English.😂😂😂😂
As a white guy with friends of multiple races, I appreciate the fact that someone from a different race has our back too. Color is just a color, but we all are pretty much the same. Thanks for the video man!
Bill burr is a breath of fresh air, he speaks the truth, he talks about things that others are too frightened to. In response to his content, I personally like to think that differences between us, is what should unite us, not divide or hate. ❤
Sorry for the long winded comment before, I forgot to add how good it feels to have someone talk about things like this, and not be all about hate, or one sided. I came for the reaction, but I’m subbing because you seem like a genuinely kind individual, who can rationalize, and actually think about this subject without making it feel like you are demonizing either side. I appreciate the heck out of you for it. Thank you, so much.
I remember me, my mom, and stepdad, all went out to Applebee's one afternoon. Is was raining hard and there was this Mexican family at the entrance waiting to be seated, standing in line, but we ran through and got soaked and this 7 or 8 year old Mexican girl asked her mom in Spanish, "Why do white people smell like dogs?" I saw her mom look back at us nervously as she grabbed her daughter's shoulder and pulled her closer but I was already laughing my ass off because I know Spanish while my mom and stepdad were confused. Her mom started apologizing in Spanish but I told them, in Spanish, "Probably because we have three dogs, two of which loves to snuggle into the laundry when it's warm and fresh out the dryer."
@@trevorwalsh9443 White people let their dogs go everywhere on almost everything including the bed, so yes their clothes will have their pets smells and when wet the smell is even more apparent.
I am married to a brown woman. We have beautiful brown kids. I can relate to your smell claim...we are different and it's nice. I think we all need to rally together and put racism to bed...I think we need to stand against media, race baiting politicians and the entire racist agenda. Being different is good. People are people.
Also people need to be more careful with what they call people. Some people are ignorant, some people are racist, and some people just don't have any training/experience being around other races, so they don't know how to behave.
Exactly! as of recent in the US I have come across people who are intentionally hateful and ignorant about it and use their skin color as a reason to why they can't be racist. It is sad we have gotten to the point where people are that blatant about the hate they have about other people. We need more people who are willing to spread love instead of hate
@James Furey You missed my point though. Racial hatred is a problem for all races. However, the effects differ. The ramification of me being hated is different because I’m actually a minority. When I drive across country the spaces I feel safe in differ from other races. I won’t get into the politics, because I believe that every race was created equally, however the injustices, especially in the US, have not been equal. Really it’s about power and numbers. You say there’s no white or black race but that’s not the perception of people, in general.
I’m so glad you said it’s cool to ask questions. I’m a white woman and was delighted when my Brazilian friend explained how different hairstyles weigh vastly different amounts. I only asked because I wanted to know. Not to be a jerk- I just wanted to learn.
This is great! It's so true! Making anyone feel stupid when they want to learn & feel comfortable enough to ask questions, is the quickest way to shut down the conversation. Conversation is needed to move forward & be better!
Great job, sir. Your reaction/commentary feels very much like being in a conversation as opposed to viewing a presentation. Good stuff. I'm a huge Bill Burr fan too. His observational humor is crafted so well! I was always partial to George Carlin....some of my favorite bits are his 'flyin on the airlines', 'things that bring us together' and 'saving the planet' bits from his Jammin' in New York special. Absolutely amazing and universal insight. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for saying all of this. It has been over 50 years of me getting the crap beat out of me by people because I suggest "go talk to them and find out." I have found talking and LISTENING to others is a great way to learn about me and myself. Especially someone that makes me uncomfortable. Those conversations are the greatest learning moments for me. Seriously, get over it, what ever it is, and go be what we are humans, community animals. We are better when we work and learn as a whole. NOT separate.
The elites are pushing the idea that everyone hates the other. In the real world it isnt really true. The elites are college professors, politicians, big banks, Hollywood, etc. It’s easier to pull their evil shit when we’re all against each other instead of watching them.
@@smelltheglove2038 You are absolutely correct. But that "hate narrative" spreads into the general population. Try what I am talking about. Next time you hear someone saying something like "I do not know what is wrong with THAT _____" // suggest the person who made the comment to go talk to the ____ and find out what is wrong. They will turn on you and they will see you as the problem. About 8 out of 10 times is ratio I have experienced. I would LOVE to be proven wrong on this. We are not an intelligent species. Arrogant, narcissistic, self-center...yes. But intelligent? Nope. Social media will continue to push us in the self-center, narcissistic, arrogant path.
@@NRB-mb7jc I live in Philly, I’ve been physically assaulted one too many times to even attempt that. Held up at gun point three times in a year, my 11 year old son and I were accosted because we were laughing while walking to the subway. Luckily a cop stopped that attack. My buddy was jump and smashed in the head with a sock full of rocks or something and they smashed his eye socket now he’s blind in that eye. At least they got the 5 bucks. The problem is that you just can’t talk to some people without them getting extremely violent when you question their worldview. They’ve been told their whole lives by teachers, politicians, “Reverends” etc, that they’re hated, when it’s just not true. The irony is that because they keep acting out in violent ways, they’re actually making it true. Really sad.
racism is when you fill ignorance with a bunch of dumb shit. We are all ignorant until we know better, and we can't know better if we think we know better already. Great reaction as always man. Happy holidays and health to you and your loved ones
"We are all ignorant until we know better, and we can't know better if we think we know better already." That's also a good sentence to apply to religion.
@@Ozarks420 I'm either atheist or agnostic, don't know quite how I feel this early on in life. However, I'd like to say that I respect your response and I wish I'd met more religious people that hold the same respect you do especially in response to this comment. Merry Christmas/Xmas/Happy holidays to you and yours!
@@jarrods372 Exactly. I find that people who hold absolute positions on non absolute topics to be very annoying. Some hold their faith in a way that they feel they can force it on others, and then you have the other side that taunt religious people for their faith. Faith is defined as belief in the absence of evidence. It is a feeling, a very personal feeling. There is no rational reason to force God on people, and there is no rational reason to mock those who do believe. While I do not subscribe to a religious movement, I do find joy in just having a relationship with what I think is God. No explanation. I was a non believer until I was 23 or something like that, and then I just did believe. Dunno why and don't really care to. It brings me joy and I never impose my belief on anyone. So at worst I am wrong but feeling more fulfilled. Which in logical terms simply increased the joy experienced in the world at no cost to anyone.
I honestly can't stand the way people use the word ignorant these days. Somewhere in the time since I was a kid in the 80s, that words definition was changed in pop culture. Ignorant, the way I learned it as a kid meant to ignore what you're told. You can be told one thing, proven that it's a fact, and then say no, that's wrong, I want to believe this other thing that you've proven is wrong. That is ignorance. The way people use the word these days, ignorant has the exact same definition as naive. If that's the case then why do both words exist? They need to mean something different from one another or else why have them? Naive means to not know something, ignorant means to ignore what you're told, but don't google that because that's not what the words mean anymore. And clearly this isn't a case of how language 'evolves' because this is a clearcut case of it devolving. The word ignorant used to have a unique definition, and now it doesn't, that's a de-evolution of language. That said, "Racism is when you fill naivety with a bunch of dumb shit." Ignorance is when people continue to believe that dumb shit even after being shown how wrong what they believe really is.
Pretty much nailed everything lol I’m pretty pasty, my wife is from Honduras, her father was black. I met her working as a flight medic for the army in Central America supporting 160th Special Operations counter drug intelligence. I still catch the all white people are racist line on occasion lol my wife like to jump in the middle of it 😂 If I hear racism your damn straight I will stand up to it but if it’s directed at me I’ll just poke the bear lol we have 4 kids together, married for 19 years and like you said, it comes from everywhere and if it’s out of ignorance I am happy to educate but if it’s hateful then we all need to stand up for each other
I dig your energy bro it’s always heartwarming and energizing to see someone who’s just genuine and real because the majority of things promoted and pushed by our over sensationalized media machine is far from the positive and geared at keeping us separated untrusting and indifferent to our brothers and sisters of other cultures we are all one ppl to promote our differences and display things depicting the negative or showing things out of context to create a narrative that divides ppl is what’s fed to us consistently it’s almost like they have an agenda 🤔😉😉 great video wish you nothing but the best and success in all your endeavors
Bill and Dave. Love them. Telling "offensive" jokes while I laugh my ass off. Once I hear Bill, don't have to hear what he said, I just burst into laughter 😂😂😂😂
In the 70s, my family took my black best friend with us to our church for a Halloween event. This was a Southern Baptist church in Florida. When we were bobbing for apples, there were some kids, including the pastor's son and nephews, that refused to put their head in the water after my friend did. Like they thought they would come back out looking like Al Jolson in blackface! I was ashamed and embarrassed beyond belief! We played football later and he ran all over them! I loved it! LOL!
Ironically about you mentioning Avatar and the white savior complex, the director recently admitted in an interview (without realizing) that he had that mindset when making the movie.
I have only recently subscribed to you and English is far from my first language so I must say you're diction and enunciation are an invaluable resource to someone like myself! As is your lexicon! You are helping me perfect this language in ways my linguistics degree cannot truly convey! Thank you!

I remember when I started hanging with Black kids in the mid 80s, and found out about the lotion thing & ashy. I was thinking like, oh that's the scent I smell. It didn't stink, but I remember there was always a scent. I suppose we have the same thing from shampoo smell in our hair. But when you're not expecting a scent a lot of people immediately are thrown off. I guess that's the impetus of a lot of those negative stereotypes.

The thing about human nature and smells.... see, the first black person I met when I moved to America was my shop teacher. He always smelled like sawdust. And now, even though no one smells like wood in my friend group, who is mostly black, that animal part of my brain that focuses on relations between things makes me want to go hang out at home depot. To the point it sometimes becomes a problem. "Like, yo. Leprechaun. Man sit the F down and hit this blunt. Stop trying to laser-level my granny's cabinets." And I honestly never realized it until one day, hanging at a white friend's house, which seemed to be held together with dirt and duct tape. I had *zero* handyman urges. All because of how my shop teacher smelled. I'm not sure thats rac *ist* but it's definitely rac *ial.* Cuz I'll let sh*t go at my house, even with family dropping by. But as soon as one of my black friend's says they're coming over, I'm staring at my slightly wobbly ceiling fan and trying to remember where I put the screwdriver. All because the first black guy I knew was strict, smelled like sawdust and metal, always wanted me working, and praised my work. And now, I'm stuck like that. I'm used to the leprechaun jokes, because of my accent, and to me, black people are dwarves. So I gotta respect the forge.
I once said "ping pong". Then a lady said to me "that's racist, it's called table tennis." That was the first time I ever heard it was racist. I thought it was called ping pong because of the noise of the ball hitting the table and paddle.
I am of European descent and had the misfortune to have seen racism very early on. My first friend, Mike, was not of European descent and we got along great until one day he was disallowed to play with me cause his parents thought he needed to play with people more like him. Whether the reason was true or an excuse from my parents(I doubt it), it had a major impact on my life. Before I even started elementary school I started reading about Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, Lincoln, and Caesar Chavez, those who fought against slavery, segregation and racism. Children are not born racist, they are taught it and/or learn it from friends and family. Now more than ever we know of the many great people of every race, religion, and class throughout history and thus should know better than to judge a book by its cover. It is the words and mostly the actions one takes that should be judged, not their looks. Treat everyone you meet, from CEOs, CPAs, shop clerks, mechanics, neighbors and the homeless, with equal respect or like Bill Burr equal disrespect.
@RockPolitics First off the Lincoln-Douglas debates of fame were between candidate Lincoln and incumbent IL Senator STEPHEN A. Douglas. Douglas favored slavery and Lincoln found slavery a "monstrous injustice" and said he "hated" it from the get go. Second the debates were some of the most publicized up to that point and reached national attention. Lincoln was not perfect. Knowing these debates were to sway the vote of the IL legislature whose vote determine the winner, Lincoln did say he was not in favor of equality. Fredrick Douglass(two s) was very critical of Lincoln during his presidency for this especially with regard to unequal pay of colored soldiers, and prisoner treatment. However, Lincoln said about Fredrick Douglass "“There is no man in the country whose opinion I value more than yours.” Frederick Douglass himself later said that Lincoln "“was emphatically the black man’s President: the first to show any respect to their rights as men.” This was said by Douglass at Lincoln's eulogy, after Lincoln did the cowardly thing of getting assassinated.
I can't remember the basketball coach it's attributed to, but a buddy in high school wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm not racist, I hate everybody equally." The older I get and the less peopley I want to be, the more I ascribe to this sentiment. And it's not even that I "hate" anybody-- it's that my tolerance for the quantity of feckwits is rapidly decreasing. I think the only things I truly hate are Bradford Pears.😂 Even my decades long despisement of Ponderosa Pine isn't as strong as my loathing of Bradford Pears.
In regards to the smell conversation- when I was a kid in the 80s I used to think that black people had a specific smell. Didn’t think anything about it beyond that. When I was in my early 20s I moved to FL and started working with a black woman who had that smell I always associated with black people and I realized in that moment that what I was smelling was Geri curl 😂😂
@@jessiem276 it was a popular product in the black community in the 80s. If you’ve ever seen “Coming to America” with Eddie Murphy you would have seen the style. And I spelled it wrong - it’s Jheri curl. You can google it and find more info on it
Hey, it's real. My wife and I had a black housemate several years ago, and a few days after she moved in, I began to notice what I termed "clean black lady smell," in a good way. If she was on the way out the door to work, freshly groomed, she smelled like my 4th grade teacher, who was black. It brought back very pleasant memories of one of my favorite mentors as a child, and I loved it. I just hope I never smelled like some white dude who had given her shit at some point in her life, LOL.

I remember going to a work Christmas party with my husband and son. I was pulled aside, "I didn't know your husband was black" never occurred to me to even mention it! Who categorizes their family?
Dude, you are cool AF. I'm a white American living in Japan with my wife and kids for the last (almost) 14 years. I'm guessing because I am white I had no sense of how micro aggressions feel. I've only had in your face real hateful racism once at a job interview. (didn't get the job) You are surely right. It's everywhere.
I always enjoy your videos. You're intelligent and articulate but most importantly you possess emotional intelligence and are able to view things from more than one angle, so to speak. I'm also a huge Aesop Rock fan and I love when you analyze his lyrics. Great content, my guy.
I have just discovered your bill burr journey of discovery starting from your first reaction to him and I have loved watching you fall in love with his comedy, he's blunt to a fault but he speaks nothing but truth and his points of view are exactly what needs to be said in todays society. Most of what he says everyone has thought or experienced and he's a breath of fresh air of honesty in todays PC culture. I wish everyone I interacted with day to day was as straight forward with me as he is. I wouldn't have to consult my woke dictionary to try to intuit the hidden messages people are incinuating constantly. People would understand everyone. Not everyone would agree or get along obviously, but life would be so much simpler to navigate. And everyone wanting to connect more with different cultures would know what the disconnect between them is. He's an absolute gem of a comedian and social commentary in todays society.
Yes, exactly, have a conversation. That is our (as a society) problem. We need to realize that we do see color and should recognize that there are differences in cultures. However, we should all treat each other with respect because we can all learn from one another. Much respect to you sir, keep up the great videos.
Right!?! I was thinking, have I ever said that before “I’m not racist-but…” then I realized I’d never say that cos I kinda am. Ok, no I’m *really not* but still... People in general reject what’s unfamiliar; other classes, races, ages, you get my point, are all different than ourselves, meaning no obvious similarities, meaning no obvious commonalities. It’s inherent to gravitate towards familiarity.
@@jessiem276 I mean...that's basically what it means though? Obviously you're gonna note physical differences between people, just that you're not using that as a judge of their character or inherent worth.

So I can somewhat relate to the whole going to save the ghetto story.... my parents, especially my mom, has spent a big part of their lives working on projects intended to better the daily lives of poor african people... I guess what I am trying to say is that those ppl do exist. Two of them gave me life...
I stumbled on this by watching some Bill Burr and I must say, its amazing to see a reaction video where not only can we laugh but also have a serious and calm discussion. Instant Sub.
He and Dave Chappelle are part of the IDGAF style of comedy 🤣 that we sorely need. For more Bill Burr- check out his first special- Emotionally Unavailable done in 2003,unfortunately its only an audio version but it's still wonderfully un pc as you can get. The clip is in UA-cam
if chappelle didn't give so much of a fuck, i feel like he would stop riding the trans people just because they're not happy with some of the things he's saying. theres a fine line between being humorous and being insulting
I'm so glad I found ur channel. You know how to do proper reactions. You have the perfect Ballance of pausing to speak a bit more in depth and let the video play. A lot of reaction channels either don't talk at all or never shut up. Also your audio quality is god tier. I have sensory issues and alot of videos have really harsh audio making it hard to listen. Your audio is smooth as hell.
Thanks for the part where you say you would hear someone out. I had some "friends" who are teachers. I asked them about Juneteenth because who better to ask than educators... It was one of the worst conversations I ever witnessed. I just wanted to learn something. I was told I was so racist I didn't even know it. Like wtf? They told me I was "playing dumb". About two seconds after all that nonsense I saw like half the country asking the same questions. Apparently, many of us didn't know what it was. Needless to say, I don't entertain those people and their offended ways any longer. Watching your video and hearing you say that was on point with me sir. I appreciate you.
Bill Burr and Dave Chappelle are my favorite. I don't always agree with them about everything, but they are being honest and saying what they believe. Uncensored and without hatred. Just talking about what they have experienced and think about things.
I watched your channel and as a fan of Bill Burr I loved watching you and hearing your commentary as well you are too cool and a pleasure to listen to! Thank you for your channel. 👍🏻😤

First time watching you, love Bill Burr, he tells it like we all see it, he just does it in a funny way. Your analysis is great too, keep up the good work.
What you said about him being "uncancelable". The reason people like him and Dave Chappelle don't get cancelled is because they are unapologetic. The guys that try to apologize for things that they shouldn't apologize for end up getting cancelled. By apologizing they alienate their true fans. Now nobody likes them. It really comes down to sticking to your guns.
With all due respect, I don't think that is it at all, the whole cancel culture phenomenon itself is BS. Chapelle and Bill don't get canceled because they're great comedians, Bill doesn't "get away with" talking about black people or race issues, because he's unapologetic, I know plenty of comedians and celebs that have been unapologetic as they drift into obscurity because they said or did awful things. They don't get canceled because they are talking from experience, they present the humor from a point of observation, situations they've been intimately involved in, then they expertly pin point the absurdity and ridiculousness of those situations and human behavior, and present it to us in a way that we. as the audience, naturally see the humor in that situation, they are more of a guide. To where many comedians try to extract humor from a situation they're not 100% familiar with, or only know one part of the story, which sometimes can work, but it can go vey wrong too. Which is very difficult, and what makes those two so great. Perfect example of that is Dave getting flack for the trans jokes, It wasn't a woke thin skinned new generations crying. Dave F-ed up, not going to get into it, and even though I am very much involved in the trans community, I still LOVE Dave, but he used some terminology that he was not familiar with, which part of it was scientifically wrong, and part of it usually uncool to be used unless you are trans, but mostly it was because it was terminology most often used by real bigots, and authoritative figures, to "other" trans people, and keep them a marginalized part of society" For the record, it all started over 3 tweets, two from non trans people, and the trans community in L.A. that protested his show, did nothing to help the trans movement. If they knew who Dave was, they could have approached the situation much differently and explained what I did above, and the man is smart enough he would have understood. Both sides of the isle have ridiculous outrage machines in order to fire people up.
As far as cancel culture itself, and this isn't aimed at you as much as I am just venting, it's nothing but the newest excuse created by non progressives and conservatives for their push back against social change. When that bakery didn't want to make a gay wedding cake it wasn't called cancel culture. My Grandpa once told me what times were like in the late 60s, people were freaking out just like now, there just wasn't any social media. Guys at his local barber shop bitched constantly... "They have their freedom, they get to go to the same school as our kids, now we have to share a drinking fountain with them, and eat in the same restaurants, when will it be enough for them." Or "I was told the other day that the N word (they used the real word) was offensive, I even heard some white people are getting bent out of shape over it, what is this world coming to, it's just a word, bunch of pansies, the world is going to down the toilet" Also, The only people getting "canceled" have celeb status, like actors, comedians, athletes, politicians influencers, or commercial products, yet the rage manufacturing machine on the right has all of us regular folks up in arms over cancel culture when it doesn't affect us. Don't get me wrong us peons get unfairly canceled, things like corporate layoffs, raping us on insurance no medical care, student loans ruining our credit, but it's just called life, and we should suck it up and stop complaining. A comedian or actor getting "canceled" isn't the result of some new woke social justice movement, it's the result of folks that are too conservative not being able to accept the Overton Window, which has been in place since the beginning of time. The Overton Window, while it may appear to crawl at a snails pace at times, on a long enough time line, always moves left towards a more just and less oppressive society, and for thousands of years, there are always those that try to stop it, and have to be dragged along into the future. Cancel culture is basically capitalism at it's core, these companies or products labeled as "going woke" spend millions in R&D, and it shows, that being LGBTQ friendly for example, is acceptable or welcomed by the majority of their target audience, and not doing so, will cost them money and customers, THAT'S IT, PERIOD. FULL STOP. Trust me, if those R&D results came back saying that being bigoted, or marginalizing certain groups as less important, was more profitable, they'd be doing that faster than you can say, wokism is dead.
I quoted MLKJR on a Facebook post one day and agreed that a person's character is all that truly matters. This lady said I wasn't allowed to quote MLKJR because I'm white. I told her that was kinda racist and she argued that she couldn't be racist because she was black. The irony in that kind of ignorance never ceases to amaze me. Also.. How epic would it be if Bill and Dave went on tour together
Bill burr was always hilarious in Chapelle Show. I've heard that to. I got called white trash by a bully at school, so I said "were at the same school, so if I'm white trash you're black trash". He and his friend jumped me, and the principal made me apologize to them for "being racist" Which actually made me a bit racist at the time. Now I don't care, I have such a diverse friend group as an adult being called racist means nothing to me.

Man, you just made me feel ancient. I watched Roots on TV when it first came out. Okay, okay, so I am 64 and ancient. But you didn’t have to make me face it today. Love your video.❤❤ I am so glad I grew up on military bases and went to school on base. It was my senior year when my father retired and we moved to NC before I was ever exposed to bigotry. On the bases people lived, worshipped, shopped, went to school with people. I grew up and was friends with people from different races and religions. Went to school, parties, dances, spent the night, went camping, sports, and church. I heard about segregation in schools and businesses but never understood what was happening until we moved here. I was plopped into an area where some people didn’t like my father because he was white, others didn’t like my mother because she was Native American, and others didn’t like me because of my friends of any color that wasn’t the same as theirs. At my age I still don’t get it.
I used to teach at a predominantly minority school (I’m white). The kids loved me and I loved them, but I could always tell when they showed “Roots” in the history class. They would come in my room and glare for a while. It because a joke and I would just ask “Roots?” They would just nod and glare. One of them said “we’ll get over it soon but we don’t like you now” 😂😂 They were always better after a day or two. Miss those kids.
I love your reaction and comments for this video. You are right on. I've always felt that I don't care what color you are, what sexual orientation you are or anything else like that... I'm accepting of most people and things... but I do have my limits... all one has to do is stay off my lawn...LOL
I love your reactions.... I just want to say... It's extremely sad to me that you even have to worry about possibly having to censor anything that is said in this video for fear of getting in trouble by youtube. It's completely insane to me.... Anyway, great reaction! 👍
I’m white too. And I notice the exact same thing every general ethnic group notices about other ethnic groups. It’s like we all have a unique smell that we’re self-unaware of amongst other members of our own ethnic group. For some reason, Latinos have a unique smell, black people have a unique smell, Asiatic people have a unique smell, Indigenous Americans, Polynesians, EVERYONE. And their unique smells are nigh-IMPOSSIBLE to describe - they’re not unpleasant or bad smells, just *uniquely* identifiable. And I simply can not ever figure out why that is. I just personally feel like it’s taboo to ever bring it up.
I watched Roots originally as a kid in the 80’s. It was awful, BUT, I think people do need to see good representations of bad and horrible things that humans have done to each other so we can learn and move on. ❤
It wasn’t historically accurate though. White people didn’t go hunting slaves in Africa they bought them from African nations like Benin and those nations were practicing slavery long before the white Europeans came along.
I need examples of this apparent trope. Only ones I can think of are To Wong Fu... and there was also a white guy & a latin guy in that movie, so I wouldn't count it, and then there's White Chicks.

What was your mos?
Former 11B here... spot on.

I remember me, my mom, and stepdad, all went out to Applebee's one afternoon. Is was raining hard and there was this Mexican family at the entrance waiting to be seated, standing in line, but we ran through and got soaked and this 7 or 8 year old Mexican girl asked her mom in Spanish, "Why do white people smell like dogs?"
I saw her mom look back at us nervously as she grabbed her daughter's shoulder and pulled her closer but I was already laughing my ass off because I know Spanish while my mom and stepdad were confused. Her mom started apologizing in Spanish but I told them, in Spanish, "Probably because we have three dogs, two of which loves to snuggle into the laundry when it's warm and fresh out the dryer."

case in point: his wife. she's nothing but virulent hatred in "human form" (a female who agreed to marry a millionaire)
I think one thing is, no one is immune to hate, but the amount of hate and the affects can be radically different.

It is really fun watching people talk about things that can't be talked about without saying those things.

Stop trying to laser-level my granny's cabinets."
And I honestly never realized it until one day, hanging at a white friend's house, which seemed to be held together with dirt and duct tape. I had *zero* handyman urges.

I once said "ping pong". Then a lady said to me "that's racist, it's called table tennis." That was the first time I ever heard it was racist. I thought it was called ping pong because of the noise of the ball hitting the table and paddle.
What's wrong with "ping pong" i missed that.
@samanthapeters8314 It will always be ping pong to me 🤣
she probably thinks ping pong is a chinese name when it is actually british
Ping Pong is a correct term that can be used in place of Table Tennis. Nothing racist about it at all.
The fuck? XD she's out of her mind.
I can't remember the basketball coach it's attributed to, but a buddy in high school wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm not racist, I hate everybody equally."
The older I get and the less peopley I want to be, the more I ascribe to this sentiment.
This is the fourth or fifth reaction of yours that I've watched and I'm in. Subscribed! By far the sharpest intellect of this UA-cam genre...
Love Bill Burr and love your coverage of his material. 💞💞💞💞
Love your videos Mr Boyd. Your commentary along the way is very entertaining. Keep it up and thank you.
This is great! It boils down to just being a good person.
What's "Geri Curl"?
This is the first video of yours I've seen/listened too... and to be honest it played after another I clicked on while I was doing other stuff... you kept me here... not even for a second did I think about skipping this video... I appreciate guys like you. Stay safe my guy you earned this follow... can't wait to see what's next from ya.
I've enjoyed your reactions on many topics, but more and more I value your insights and asides. Introspective, self-conscious, logical reasoning...
I remember going to a work Christmas party with my husband and son. I was pulled aside, "I didn't know your husband was black" never occurred to me to even mention it! Who categorizes their family?
"Trying to be nice without mentioning other body parts"
Dying.
Bill is so funny, he kills me every time i see him here on UA-cam. This performance was really side splitting .
The author of Roots openly admitted that they wrote it to "give a myth for" their "people".
Where at in Japan? I've spent time at Kinser (Okinawa) and Iwakuni (Mainland) as a kid lol.
I always enjoy your videos. You're intelligent and articulate but most importantly you possess emotional intelligence and are able to view things from more than one angle, so to speak.
I'm also a huge Aesop Rock fan and I love when you analyze his lyrics. Great content, my guy.
If you haven't seen it, Bill Burr's helicopter story is a thing of legend.
8:37 “People are people; speak to people.” That is off-the-cuff golden wisdom, and I would buy that t-shirt. 👏🏻
Exactly! When someone says they don't see color, they're lying. I think they mean, that it doesn't make any difference to them.
I need to hear you narrate a documentary or commercials/movie trailers. Your voice is just perfect for voice acting.
As the son of two Danish missionary workers I grew up in central africa for a number of years... So I can somewhat relate to the whole going to save the ghetto story.... my parents, especially my mom, has spent a big part of their lives working on projects intended to better the daily lives of poor african people... I guess what I am trying to say is that those ppl do exist. Two of them gave me life...
@dejuren
LMAO!
nah, It is clearly your brain that there is something wrong with!🤣🤣🤣
I absolutely love your commentary. Always so insightful and unbiased. You have an amazing heart. 🔥🔥🔥
I stumbled on this by watching some Bill Burr and I must say, its amazing to see a reaction video where not only can we laugh but also have a serious and calm discussion. Instant Sub.
love your videos sir. love that you are spreading wisdom along the way as well. God Bless you and all who help you produce this great content.
“I’m going to a comedy show, I hope there’s jokes and sarcasm” - daniel tosh
if chappelle didn't give so much of a fuck, i feel like he would stop riding the trans people just because they're not happy with some of the things he's saying. theres a fine line between being humorous and being insulting
don't forget the originals in IDGAF comedy George Carlin and Richard Prior!
@@unknownsample4801 actually it's Pryor, but yeah your right
There is a reason that they worked together.
When you said "It comes from everyone, almost equally" 💯👏👏🙏🙏. I can literally feel the cringe on the faces of the "offended"👿😈 lol
You are one of my favorite dudes on UA-cam. Fresh intelligent takes that always bring some measure of positivity. Keep the dialogue going.
A well put together video. Enjoyed watching thank you.
Educators need educating.
Most educators seem like they want to indoctrinate kids. It wasn't as bad when I was in school but it's gotten bad now.
U nailed it. Freedom of speech and just having a conversation. We are losing both. One more thing to add, critical thinking. Our society has lost these abilities!,,
Thank you for speeking up
A reasonable UA-camr, you guys are like needles in a haystack these days. Insta subscribe. Love your mannerisms, and you are extremely well spoken. Hope your channel continues to grow. Thanks for the good content
I freaking love your voice. It's so rich and authoratative... I wanna hear you do like... a Darth Vader impression or... do an audio guide on making something... Such a good voice!
Agreed! I would totally listen to an audiobook narrated by him.

Even now, I think this is his best clip. He put a conversation on the table, and I love him for it
First time watching you, love Bill Burr, he tells it like we all see it, he just does it in a funny way.
"They have their freedom, they get to go to the same school as our kids, now we have to share a drinking fountain with them, and eat in the same restaurants, when will it be enough for them." Or
"I was told the other day that the N word (they used the real word) was offensive, I even heard some white people are getting bent out of shape over it, what is this world coming to, it's just a word, bunch of pansies, the world is going to down the toilet"
Also, The only people getting "canceled" have celeb status, like actors, comedians, athletes, politicians influencers, or commercial products, yet the rage manufacturing machine on the right has all of us regular folks up in arms over cancel culture when it doesn't affect us.
And they give it to everyone equally no matter race or sex
@@stevenroyer8731 No they don't....you're missing the whole point of what makes them two great.
Fantastic! There's all sorts of great stuff from Bill Burr. Psycho robots is great! Also, try some Steven Wright. One-line heaven!
He and his friend jumped me, and the principal made me apologize to them for "being racist"
Which actually made me a bit racist at the time.
Now I don't care, I have such a diverse friend group as an adult being called racist means nothing to me.
@@GuessMyUsernameYT and with EVERYTHING being labeled as racist by the ignorant who have no other basis for argument, it's kinda lost its impact and meaning. Someone's choice of drink could get them called a racist these days... Even if they just ordered water.

Man, you just made me feel ancient. I watched Roots on TV when it first came out. Okay, okay, so I am 64 and ancient. But you didn’t have to make me face it today. Love your video.❤❤
I am so glad I grew up on military bases and went to school on base.
😄
"Except My Mother....and I...." I AM STILL CRYING LAUGHING ABOUT THE CONVICTION IN THAT STATEMENT
I love your reactions.... I just want to say... It's extremely sad to me that you even have to worry about possibly having to censor anything that is said in this video for fear of getting in trouble by youtube. It's completely insane to me.... Anyway, great reaction! 👍
Agreed. It took me a while to realise what he meant by “R”. I was like, is he referring to pirates? 😂
@@neargrog685 LMFAO! That literally made me full on belly laugh out load. haha :)

I wish more people had the respect for each other that Lenear has. Yet, isn't afraid to speak truths. Such a good freaking dude.
Bill telling the uncomfortable truth. Not sure why he didn't bring up the weird movie trope of black actors crossdressing for movies.
I need examples of this apparent trope. Only ones I can think of are To Wong Fu... and there was also a white guy & a latin guy in that movie, so I wouldn't count it, and then there's White Chicks.
@@bruce_leon1044 I remember a lot from the early 2000's and 90's it may not happen as often today but I'm not the first one to note and make fun of it. There are even a few with white actors but probably about ten percent of what was made by black actors.
