Where's the rest of it? I need more bucket!
RT what is wrong with your computer?
In a perhaps unsurprising act of vanity, Daniel pins his own comment in an attempt to overcompensate for the absence of a bucket in his life.
This does not, in fact, fill the void in his heart, however, and Daniel leaves the comment section feeling sadder than usual.
Then Daniel realizes that perhaps virtual posturing isn't what he needed after all, and decides to go shopping for his very own bucket.
This may be the beginning of a beautiful and fulfilling new relationship, assuming of course his friends don't get jealous and plot the... elimination of his new friend.
Fun fact: throughout this stream the name “Stanley” was said by the narrator 373 times. I know because I counted. Yes it was painful and yes I’m glad it’s over.

There are many ways to experience the "Death of the author" concept, but only the Stanley Parable ties up the author and hands you a lead pipe to do it personally.
More like death of the narrator but yeah.
@@Kobolds_in_a_trenchcoat same thing
@@Kobolds_in_a_trenchcoat The narrator is the in-game author of the story. Sort of. Depends on who you ask. Or when. Or if you got a bucket with you.

There's Death of the Author. And then there's Horrible and Agonizing Torture of the Author.
apparently the bucket snowballed into a year's worth of work after the joke got more and more needlessly complex with every addition. it was already hilarious, but that has to be the very definition of comedy.
I believe it, for almost every ending in the game there’s a bucket variant
so THAT'S why they delayed it so much?? worth it tbh
@@WaterDroplet02 All is worth it for the bucket

Edit-you can check out Doug Doug's stream on twitch with Davey wreden that happened recently. He shares some cool bits about the game and it's also just really funny. Also I wrote he wanted to make it bigger, but it was more of him thinking,"oh what if we do this as well" and then that thought just kept happening so it just started becoming more and more bit by bit

I will say, that bucket model is extremely well-made. The handle moves when you walk, and they even got the scratches and galvanized steel finish correct. What an amazing bucket.
The slight *clunk* of the handle hitting the bucket while you walk is included too, not to mention that, thanks to the wooden handle, instead of bare metal, it's a softer noise that is not distracting.
What an immaculate bucket. I could discuss this bucket for hours.
@@Winasaurus I mean, it really is just a swell bucket.
It does at the very least seem to be a bucket that is better at transferring liquid from one location to another than other similar buckets
Tha bucket actually does have an unholy amount of detail lol
Unironically I'm really impressed by the specular mapping of the surface and how it reflects light. Some 3D texture artist put an incredible amount of time into that bucket.
I forgot how much I love the narrators personality. He’s such a likable character depending on your actions. Funny, sarcastic, well written. His sarcasm feels genuine and kinda wholesome depending on your route, and not like he’s a completely unsympathetic psycho like most “funny characters” in modern games
The ending where he finds happiness is my favorite
fun fact: it's not shown in this playthrough, but if you choose the red door, he just...chills and looks at star-like things with you.
in that ending you also have the option to kill yourself, and he actively tries to sway you into staying alive.
What about that one ending where you turn on the mind control facility
@@whathathat2537 well deserved
The red door ending makes me very sad
Here's one stupidly simplified way I've found to express this whole experience:
The Stanley Parable asked "am I real" from the perspective of Stanley
The Stanley Parable Deluxe Edition stated "It is real to me" from the perspective of the narrator...also there was a bucket
It explores two aspects of contigo ergo sum: “I don’t know if anything is real except my mind, what are the implications” and “I experience all this as real so it doesn’t really matter either way”
The perfect blend of existentially crushing, wholesome, and hilarious that the game itself actually is. Well put.
I found a ...stupider way.
Mariella is on her way to work, and discovers a body. For a moment, she wonders how it got there.
And this game is her attempt to give it a backstory.
There is always a bucket
If one were to lay out the sequence of events added by the Deluxe Edition, would it be a bucket list?
I love that they had to rewrite and re-record literally every line in the main game to include the bucket as well. So much work for such a small joke, I love it.
Yeah I heard that it was like 1 year of extra work, they really went in on the joke
Plus rerecords of already existing endings. The Firewatch/Rocket League bit used to be Minecraft/Portal, with obviously different dialogue. A few areas that had no commentary now have it (complete with a secret song!)
@@Winasaurus it's sad that the portal and Minecraft Easter eggs were removed due to copyright reasons, but I'll say that the Firewatch and Rocket League replacements feel more in-tone with the rest of the game

Note how both things are phrased differently. "Don't think of pink elephants" ISN'T the same as "Think of anything BUT pink elephants"
I love the gag with the elevator. The Narrator getting increasingly snarky and sarcastic at repeatedly using the elevator until he decides to celebrate you as a narrative genius. I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the original.

I just realized there is a moment in firewatch when there is someone up in the MC's tower. But by the time you get to it they've already left! Was this in preparation for this game?!
I thought of that too!
However, no it was not. It's two seperate teams, and the creators of Ultra deluxe approached the creators of FireWatch and Rocket League for permission. There was a stream on DougDoug's twitch that had the big creator of Ultra Deluxe on stream. They didn't have correspondence until that point.
It would be an insane connection, and I'm still gonna believe Stanley was there :^)
I don’t remember the walls surrounding the tower by the time Henry got back.
No. That was for sure Ben’s dad. But it’s funny to imagine Stanley chucking the typewriter out the window.
Not a bad theory, but there is one issue I see with it, when someone else was in your tower, it was getting dark
@@novared7 yeah I think it was adding to the games themes of paranoia
"as a man, you want manly things like taxes and cheating at baseball" - finally, a game that understands me
“This man have no bucket” is almost the same energy and no maiden 😂
Absolutely bucketless behavoir
Shoutout to the VA of this game he did an incredible job!
I'm frankly in awe of voice actors at the best of times but it's so interesting how old narration from 2013 blends so seamlessly with the ultra deluxe narration. It's really impressive.
@@EverTheFractal srsly tho, it’s almost ten years passed but his voice didn’t have a noticeable change
@@yuixan763 reminds me of a thing I read where an animation company got the OG voice for a character back and they were really paranoid cause it had been so long and he was an old man by now so they were like "how are we going to tell him he can't be the character he basically made?" but as soon as he stepped up to the booth he was _flawless_ and everyone was floored.
-wish I could remember what character it was but I'm good at overthinking not retaining information what do you want from me-
@@EverTheFractal Donald duck I believe is the one you are thinking of
@@emmad4308 Yes! I knew it was a duck of some sort, thank you.
Unironically, the broom closet ending is my favorite
As your friend, i find this concerning
As do I.
I do find this information to be greatly disturbing.
Stop, get some help
It’s an ending, that’s for sure
The button scene actually kills me every time. I've only watched a couple of playthroughs of this game but hollyyy, I always loved the narrator (because of how heavily I relate to him, I assume). So the ending(?) where he spirals into almost insanity because you skip through his dialogue, it hurts me. I could go on for way longer about this but yeah
“And she backflipped all the way to work” oh my god this game is hilarious
*Instead of Firewatch and Rocket League, it used to be Portal and Minecraft.*
*This game, nay, experience is AMAZING.*
I thought that was odd! They actually updated it to more recent games? Wow, I love the devs of this game now
@@ArcNine9Angel If I remember correctly, the original mod had a much smaller sequence with HL2
@@Oshroth I always wanted to see what the mod's other games sequence was because most let's plays of the original mod were rather basic
rest in peace portal and minecraft options
I assumed that was the reason RT beelined for that ending, to make a joke about Minecraft.
I think the narrator being in horror of open world games is so much funnier tho
I can't believe he managed to bring a bucket to the sign that says "no buckets allowed."
1:08:30, Everything is a bucket because everything holds mass scientifically and the definition of a bucket is an item that holds something in it. Therefore, everything is a bucket.
I can't believe Daniel didn't acknowledge or even react to: "and she backflipped all the way to work."
Such a good line to finish an ending with
I've heard this but in Finland they straight up offer free buckets for little things like buy four of an item get a free bucket or show up for a store opening get a free bucket. Sometimes it has items in it but most often it's just a empty plastic bucket. And it's not a little thing in Finland, HUNDREDS of people will show up and form a line from the early hours. Like a black friday squall or a campout for the release of Dark Souls 4 at every game stop? That, but for a free complimentary bucket in Finland.
I want to move to Finland now.
You can never have too many buckets. Good for storage :)
As a Finn, can confirm, store I worked at did exactly that and yes it was as insane as OP says. I've never seen so many people rush indoors in my life.
Homestuck
Need a place for all those buckets?
GET A BIGGER BUCKET!
17:27 Twitch Chat plays Stanley Parable would unironically be really interesting, seeing what kind of endings they would get.
They somehow get an ending that isn’t even in the game. How does that happen.
This game is the definition of the phrase, "Fuck around and find out."
Spoilers for an ending
my favorite ending to this game which you missed in this video (not blaming you at all, its a very well hidden ending) is when you take the bucket all the way to the bosses office, and just as you enter the room, before the doors close, you rush out of the room as the doors lock you out of the story, you walk all the way back to Office 427, the Narrator gone the entire time, and find that the door to office 428 is open, going inside, yyou find its an escape route out of the office building. Going up several flights of stairs leading to a supposed escape pod, you may notice that every floor you go up to is identical, when you finally reach the escape pod
1) Without the bucket: The screen cuts to black before you can reach it, and the game restarts.
2) With the bucket, a cutscene begins where stanley looks at his bucket longingly, before placing the bucket on the edge of the entrance to the escape pod, he carresses its cold steel casing, after a very long full minute of carressing his bucket, stanley sighs, and places the bucket into the escape pod, watches the door close, and the game restarts. Upon starting the next run of the game, the bucket is nowhere to be found. :(
is this actually real.
the bucket variant, not the other one, it's easy to do it if you know how.
@@generallyunimportant The other one is also real. It was in the original game.
You actually can find the bucket again.
In the epilogue ending, the crashed escape pod can be found in the wasteland if you completed that ending first. And there safely in it is said bucket.
Only in the far future, when all other life is long gone, will Stanley find his bucket once more.
I had to look it up and wow yeah I agree best ending lol
The run after the next one, a replacement bucket appears and the narrator says "Don't lose this one you don't"
So the "When everything went black." Was said my power fucking died. So that was fun.
LOL
Based. Unbelievably based.
Is your name by any chance Stanley?
@@alien5520 It will be…
An unexplainable obsession over buckets and a desire to get one is something that I as a Finnish man can truly relate to. Loved the video.
They somehow simultaneously did the everything is cake meme and the companion cube in one item…
a bucket
I really love how the game decides the best way to get you to stop disobeying the narrator is to show you your ranking on the games leaderboard, proving that in actuality you have no free will, 3% of people are exactly like you
If you select „yes“ at the beginning, you get to see the new content much earlier. Because when you haven't played it yet, they make you play 7 endings so you get the comments about the original game later in the new content
Oh that's very smart, I like that.
Honestly more surprised it does anything at all
I heard the Narrator actually turned down the script when he was asked to become the narrator again but he changed his mind and might have gone wild on the script
"There is no more content in the broom closet" just got me for some reason 🤣
"Come over here! In the vent!"
Yes Stanley, it's imperative that you be sus for this narrative to continue.
Stanley, have you heard of the video game "Among Us?"
NOTE: Due to recent events Dr Bright is prohibited to interact with and object that functions and/or resembles a bucket. If Dr Bright comes in contact with a bucket and/or similar item Dr Brights current body will become an instance of SCP 430-b with the bucket being replaced with a manifestation of SCP 430-A. If such a event happens Dr Brights current body must be terminated and all buckets within a quarter mile radius must be destroyed.
@@quantumblur_3145 I'll tell them we were on cams Stanley

@@greyardwhite2683 its a number symbol
I love how they actually did Jim Steling's accent when reading their review.
Hearing RT say "hashtag 5" instead of "number 5" out loud made me die a little.
I don't know how to describe this game other than, "It's Stanley Parable". It's funny, weird, unsettling, oddly existential...it's Stanley Parable.
That's a big compliment coming from Dr. Bright himself, how'd you convince them to let you get a game on a facility computer?
If you think about, the Stanley Parable is just another version of the Backrooms where there’s just an endless amount of rooms and halls with no real exit in sight and the only monster that appears are the voices inside your head
Maybe the real monster was the voices we made along the way
@@radarcore2125 For you see, it was I who was the true monster!
the backrooms were partially based off of the stanley parable!
@@MidnightCapricorn2696 VON KARMA NO!
Actually sometimes through a window you can see another "Stanley" walking through the hallway where you go when following The Adventure Line™
Watching this feels like a Monty Python movie.
I love how RT just casually gets the most convoluted ending (in the old version) on his 2nd try.
