@@redking36 if I remember correctly they survive and aren't contaminated, but at the state of their bunker after the boss fight I doubt they survive for long. They also had a son who was drafted to the military before the world changing events, he just disappeared one day, so they've lost two children at this point.

After learning Turnip boy was related to the mafia, it reminded me that one of the most infamous mafia bosses, Al Capone, was ultimately done in by tax evasion.

The funniest part is that it isn't so much that he didn't pay his taxes, it's that he didn't list his illegal income on his tax forms, which ironically you have to do.

Liz's story of surviving the bombs, living in a bunker for years, running from a radioactive telekinetic Turnip with a face that invaded her home only to approach it, get mutated by it and then killed minutes later wiping out the last of humanity but, hay that's taxes.
It's not the last of humanity. I think Liz's parents (the shadowy figures who you follow around the bunker) hid in a room that turnip boy couldn't get to.

the thing that gets me about this game isn't the "plot twist" since its pretty easy to spot early on, but rather how far they go with it. talking foods as the result of nukes? sure, whatever. actually seeing surviving humans in bomb shelters and *killing* one of them? thats pretty rad

@@jmiod2819 On the one hand, I agree, but I'd also be wary about stretching it out too far and having it outstay its welcome. Six hours is probably about the limit of what you could get away with here without really expanding the scope of the game and gameplay itself, or you're gonna need some *really* good and creative writing to carry it.

i think its more about how taxation is the ultimate form of robbery/wealth accumulation that can be abused, with the atomic bomb showing how far people (governments) are willing to go to protect their enterprises, income streams, and taxation

What separates this game from almost all other "cute funny game, but actually super dark" is that it never takes itself too seriously. The comedy and tone stay consistent throughout the whole game. There is no moment where it gets super dark. The heavy themes and lore are there from the start if you're looking.
This isn't a dig at similar games, btw. I love indie games like this. I just noticed that this game has so much charm, it's writing isn't forced, and it understands the references deeper than just mindlessly throwing them in.

Also the lich is like literally radiation incarnate and there’s an episode where Finn creates a world where the lich was never released... only for his alt reality self to find and accidentally set of a nuke and release the lich.

Didn't really shock me as much, considering that Bug Fables is basically the same concept.
What DID shock me was that we killed the humans ourselves, because Bug Fables just talked about them, but never actually showed one. This game took it a step further, and made you kill one yourself.

This game appears to be inspired by a mix of Adventure Time, Zelda, Earthbound, and Undertale with some anime references sprinkled throughout. Super fun to watch as someone who grew up with all of these influences
I've been pushing watching this for a while now, and I just went to relax on the sofa after getting home from work, erands and all that. And I ended up falling asleep and UA-cam must've just kept going cause I didn't intentionally put this on.
Long story short, I woke up listening to the end credits song, smiling and bopping my foot to the tune and it genuinely was the best feeling I've had in a while. Have an incredible weekend everyone, I love you all!

I have thinked about it, so here is the lore:
There was a massive epidemy, and humans have used atomic bombs to kill it, and the Game’s Setting is a post-atomic world, were the vegetables have evolved into the new civilization, and animals grew bigger. The vegetable civilization learned from human remains and Started to worship the mushroom clouds, calling them “mushroom giants”, and have evolved to receive energy from radiation
Judging by the time the game came out, said epidemy was probably the coronavirus.

Just played through this one. I was legitimately expecting a cute and small game when I suddenly wandered into a post apocalyptic creepy pasta. 10/10 experience.

@@devin2254 Nope, the lead dev was the programmer, the guy who wrote the music went to the same school but I’m not too sure about the vocalist. I’m not the original commenter but I’m in the same boat lol, not surprised Yukon ended up making something successful though, he was high key the star student in the game design program.
Never in all my days did i think i would ever come across an extremely family friendly game with relevant and genuinely funny memes about simps, tax evasion, drafting, running from the police, the mafia, twitch culture, internet weebs, reddit copypastas, tiktok, property tax, and more cursed stuff
