My favorite random fact about this game is the terrorist attacks are scripted, and are always authorized to enter. If you mistakenly deny them, the next person in line becomes the new terrorist. If you continually deny them over and over, the day will never end and you will continually rack up more citations. And it's endlessly hilarious to me that this entire line of people is playing pass the buck with a ticking bomb, all scratching their heads as the boneheaded inspector denies the thirtieth cleared entrant in a row
Fun fact: The amount of people the inspector says "Glory to Arstotzka" to get less and less over the course of the game, and since you're required to confiscate all Arstotzkan passports by the end of the game, he doesn't say it at all. Really sets the tone by the end.
additionally, whenever you let a foreigner through, the guard tells them "cause no trouble." unless they're a suicide bomber, in which case he says nothing. i imagine a fuckin kolechian extremist waiting in line all that time, getting let in and the guard saying "cause no trouble" and then the extremist is like "oh....okay :(" and just moseys on past without blowing up because they were told not to cause any trouble
I adore the line "They look terrible" about your fake passports. I love how of course if you came this far you'd have an eye for all the tiny flaws they would surely have.
@nicestpancake they look fine to someone who hasn't been checking passports for almost a month knowing that if you make too many mistakes your done for
And also the fact you say the reason for your visit because arstotzka required the reason, while in Obristan the person doesn't give a damn at all, showing how more relaxed they are
It's so funny to visualize RT at the end as a border guard. You walk in, hand your Obristan Passport to the guard, and he rapidly shoves it into his pocket before turning you away. He'd look absolutely insane
Come to think of it, Obristan probably isn't a great place to live if they won't do anything about a rogue Arstotskan border guard stealing their citizens' passports.
i love how RT was unquestioningly loyal to EZIC for the entire game, only to flee to Obristan after setting up for the ending where EZIC is successful and they give the inspector a new job

Your content has been one of the only things getting me through my examinations and tests for Multiple Sclerosis. Thanks for bringing some joy to me in these rough times, RT. Its really been getting me thru.
You know when I first played this game, the trick I did to saving a lot of money for the family is by paying heat, food and medicine ONLY when it is dearly needed the next day. You can also take a few bribes here and there some of which you can avoid getting a citation from if you’re able to detain the person bribing you or possibly get no citation for letting them through anyways. If you’re brave enough though, just let them through and take the citation, as long as you haven’t gotten your second citation already and not wanting a penalty for the third (if you’re willing to make the risk) you’ll be fine.
11:25 I'm pretty sure that you actually got that citation BECAUSE you asked her and she clarified. If you just rejected her outright for wrong information, there is no penalty. Unless you plan on detaining someone (once you get the reward for it, usually), and before you get the "Reason" stamp late in the game, there's actually no reason to highlight things that are wrong. You can just reject. This is actually really useful for people with wrong names who claim they had a name change and then you have to run through the fingerprinting, or people with wrong weight who may be smugglers, where highlighting would prompt you to search them with the scanner. Instead don't tell them what's wrong, just reject outright. Once you can get the detaining bonus, it's almost always worth trying to detain as many people as possible. They're usually the ones who try to bribe you too. But you can both take the bribe AND detain them.
I remember i was there for this stream, twas my first stream being there for, and genuinely i kept forgetting it was a stream and not a video, thats how consistently entertaining rt is, it only rly was clear cause his swears werent *UA-cam*
Fun fact: this game & the Stanley parable were both referenced in the game "please don't touch anything". I recommend playing it considering the fact that you've played both of those games, i recommend playing the 3d remaster cause that has way more content than the original
I played the 3d version and it's an unbelievable upgrade. The endings affecting the office instead of just the screen is very cool. And on the spooky one I knew full well that turning around would be a bad idea but it was still really well executed. One of the biggest 2d -> 3d upgrades I've ever seen alongside Risk of Rain.

Your content has been one of the only things getting me through my examinations and tests for Multiple Sclerosis. Thanks for bringing some joy to me in these rough times, RT. Its really been getting me thru.
This game prepared me for working as a cashier to the best of its ability. Surprisingly, I think I'd feel safer working at the Grestin checkpoint...
there are no karens at arstotzka
@@strogonoffcore Well, there was that one crazy tiger lady...
If nobody got me, I know Jorji got me, CAN I GET AN AMEN?
amen!
AMEN 🙏🏾
YYYYYYYESSSSS I’VE ALWAYS HOPED RT WOULD PLAY PAPERS PLEASE it’s the perfect game for him and his twitch chat. Glory to Arstotska!!!
the son being sick all the time is such youtube moment
38:25 I can't believe I got so emotionally attached to an ensemble of green pixels. I was shocked to see the character die.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Glory to Arstotzka.
I’m shocked that RT of all people got the second to best ending. The best being New Arstotzka with Sergio alive.
it took me 30 minutes to realize that "UA-cam!" is pasted over every time he swears
You don’t understand. Since Ireland is an island, the concept of border security is foreign to him.
He’s be great at this otherwise, I’m sure!
There is security bw northern Ireland and Ireland 😅
I remember i was there for this stream, twas my first stream being there for, and genuinely i kept forgetting it was a stream and not a video, thats how consistently entertaining rt is, it only rly was clear cause his swears werent *UA-cam*
"So you have chosen Death."
"Yes. For my Uncle."
What a great video showing the wonders of the Arstotzkan lands!!
Glory to Arstotzka!
RT game AND Paper Please omg it’s like taking me back YEARS to the height of the Yogcast era
the best part is RT did enough to get the overthrow the government ending and still just left after he let everyone in.
38:42 I cannot imagine how angry chat was when RT didn’t redo the day to save Sergio.
I actually gave the officer the ezic cards when he asked if I saw anything like that.
I was promptly executed.
I know that the videos coming out don’t correlate to when they were streamed, but I like to think RT just needed a palette cleanser after detective pikachu
Such an awesome game, crazy to think it was made by a single dude, glad you finally checked it out!
9:31 the moment Daniel was playing Northern Ireland simulator.
Truly one of the games that stayed relevant and fun from my middle school years all the way to uni graduation. God it’s been so long.
Ive never meant this more, but those posts where its like “this is my son he has EVERY disease”
This doesn’t hit the same without jacksepticeye yelling “DETAINED!!!” But still hilarious
Or glory greatest
I've been waiting for the day RT played this game, it seemed like something right up his alley.
I love how the documents like the entry permit can still spawn with expiration dates long before the documents were ever required (or, presumably, issued).
GLORYYYYY TO ARRRRTSTOTSKA!
- Jacksepticeye
GLORYYYYY GREATEST COUNTRY!!!!!
Irish man loses all morality, helps in overthrowing the government, leaves.
Dan playing some bangers at the moment, really enjoying the recent playthroughs
Dan going full on greedy grinner whenever an Obristan passport comes through
"I'll be taking that one!"
GLORY TO ARSTOTZKA! GLORY GREATEST!
God I love this game!, I don’t see it around to often, I’m so happy to see it back!
RT has got to be my all time favorite person to watch play just about any game. He creates a perfect balance between making fun of the game and dory gags, while also treating the story and messages of games with respect... truly a gamer of all time
9:14 - 9:32
Come out you Arstotzkan! Come out and fight me like a man! Show your wife how you won medals down in Bostan!
At this point this game is a classic. Really happy to see you enjoy it.
Glory to Arstotzka. Cause no trouble.
