  • If you Want to install an aftermarket radio in your Toyota Camry Solara, this video will show you how to remove and replace the factory radio from a 2004 to 2008 Toyota Camry Solara. You will need to buy a special adapter to make a regular aftermarket car stereo fit into your Toyota Camry Solara because the standard Toyota radio is a strange size. It’s also a good idea to buy some connectors for a Toyota and connect them to your new stereo so you can just plug it into the factory wiring harness. First, you need to pry all of the trim pieces away to get to the four bolts that hold the radio in, then remove the radio, and then get your new stereo and adapter kit at assemble them And wire them up to the proper connectors, then go back to your Toyota Camry and bolt the new stereo into place. Replace the trim pieces, and you are done.

      It was!!!! I thought it would be easier. Every car is a little bit different, and you always have to pull really hard and risk breaking brittle plastic to get in and change the stereo.

      Yes, I took out the center top dash bezel. It cracked into quite a few pieces so now I am looking for that part. They are available on ebay but folks are asking quite a bit for one. Worried that a replacement might crack too.

    If you shatter the center top bezel your screwed. You can’t get one under 200 bucks and there are 4 different part numbers they vary a tad I epoxied mine back together but it’s a bitch

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  3 роки тому +1

    • @gordongordonplex9455

      Crutchfield has adapters, not cheap, 50 dollars iirc, to make steering controls work, for at leasst some cars and some radios. Some cars includes this car, which I also have, and radios change all the time. They seem to have redone the accessory page so it's not as easy to read, but that was 2 weeks ago. There are adapters elsewhere too. Then there is this. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=Car+Stereo+Radio+Speaker+Wire+Harness+Adapter+Plug&_sacat=0 Apparently the guy who did this video ua-cam.com/video/O_lPayRxc5M/v-deo.html didn't have his MPG to MPG AVG to DTE etc. meter working so by buying things like this. www.ebay.com/itm/Aftermarket-Radio-Stereo-CD-Adapter-Installation-Wire-Harness-Cable-For-Toyota/303897459694 . he made it work. Although he's very unclear. At the end it and in the comments it becomes clear what it does.

    for all that work, better off using a bluetooth module that goes into the 12 volt lol, i used one of those and it worked great, the solara can hide those too so it looks more clean interior wise

    • @IndyMotoRider
      @IndyMotoRider Місяць тому

      I have one and the sound sucks. Relies on you having a clean radio signal that doesn't overlap with local broadcast radio. Might be fine in rural areas but in my city I can't find a station to sync with that doesn't have static.

    Can you do this for the antenna? because the integrated antenna on the Solara sucks and I dont know how to replace it!

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  3 роки тому

      To replace the antenna, you would have to trace the antenna wire back to wherever the antenna is. Sometimes when people install stereos, and the antenna has an amplifier, they forget to plug-in the blue wire to power. I would check that first. If you have a blue wire that isn’t connected to power, it’s probably supposed to power your antenna booster.

    I have a solara, and dang!! That’s so hard to do!! I wanted to fix the wiring for my radio so I can install the back camera and mic. Plus I didn’t know that the wheel audio control doesn’t work for after market stereos … is there any way to bypass it??
    Also do you know if there’s any videos on UA-cam on how to fix a a driver side pillar that’s coming off? I got my alarm installed and the guy who did messed up my pillar on the drivers side 😭😭😭 help!!🙏🏼♥️

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  2 роки тому

      I don’t know if there’s a way to hook up the controller to an aftermarket stereo. It wouldn’t surprise me if some stereos come with plug-ins for that. I bet you could find some info on the Crutchfield website. They would know. A lot of interior body parts have replaceable plastic pins that hold them in place. You may be able to find new pins at the auto parts store and get it fixed.

  • @Mr-Clark

    I've replaced my Solara's radio a couple of times and I don't want to do it anymore. I put the stock radio back. Why? Last I tried to pull the top piece of the dash with the triple gauge, a piece cracked and broke off. The plastic has become so brittle that I'm afraid if I pull out the top piece, it'll crumble and leave an ugly hole on the dash. I saw a guy with a Solara with that top removed and the car looked hideous. It's a shame how for such a solid drivetrain, these cars have absolutely horrible interior materials. I'm getting the dash cracks just like you.
    I'm ok with the bluetooth FM transmitter going thru the factory radio and speakers.
    I would love to upgrade my speakers but it's a huge job. I'm old and lazy. LOL
    Other than that Solaras are fantastic cars. You slap a Lexus label on them and It'll fool anyone because they are that good.
