I've done this and you getting too much hot air from the engine bay. You have go deeper down towards the bottom of the wheel or behind the lower grill to actually get cold air ----- I've noticed the BMW intake design is much better the short ram system you placed on there --- too much hot air from the engine --- just my opinion.
+Master G Jasuwan You are correct, this is not a Cold Air Induction solution. A Cold Air Induction would isolate the inlet so that heat from the engine would not be drawn into the intake. I believe the purpose that the manufacturer was intending with this system was a better breathing intake. Thanks for watching.
Personally I'd never remove my stock box. It gets cold air from the grille and Bmw made it so the car can perform the best. I like the sound of the aftermarket come filters but the performance is not as good as the stock intake box.
+Mike Moyer You know, I can't disagree with you. It's my son's car and I think he was going for the throatier sound more than any implied performance gains. It is not marketed as a Cold Air Intake and that is a good thing because it is not. It does breath a little better than stock and quite sexy when you lift the hood! Cheers!
One question tho, this might sounds stupid but would I be able to go to the car wash and still have the bottom clean without the filter getting messed up
I'm trying to figure out if this would fit on ym 2010 bmw 328i, i took it apart and it looks similar, my only problem is that the MAF is attached to the filter box unlike yours which is connected to the tubing.....
Your 3 Series is a different chassis than mine. It may/most likely will require a different configuration what I have. While the product that I install may fit yours, it also may require customizations. You would be better off, searching (google, ebay, amazon) for a solution for your exact chassis. I believe you have an E90, E91, E92, or E93 (AKA "E9X"). There should be several options for products for your car. Key on your Chassis Number. Cheers and thanks for watching.
good modification and looks and Everything but u still getting hot air intake. this won't increase ur power. u need a heat shield to collect cold air for ur car. u should've put ur air filter in ur bumper.
You are correct! This is NOT a Cold Air Intake! This filter does have a larger filter surface than the stock. The greatest benefit is that it lets the engine breath better and without restrictions (possibly a little performance increase there). The only 2 other differences that I can think that it makes are: 1) There is a difference in sound, it sounds throatier, and 2) when you lift the hood, it looks freakin' bad ass. Hope I didn't misrepresent this as a Cold unit. It is not! Thanks for watching!
+UCanDoIt2 i got e46 323i 1999 modle bmw with full exhaust system headers hi flow cats dual 2" pipe conversion with 2 remus mufflers stage 2 remap with 3.46 diff swop. i installed the k&n cold engine air intake system as well. i tell you what i can feel 5-10hp gain at high end revs.
does anybody know where you can buy ONLY the Heat Shield without having to buy the entire cold air intake kit? i have this induction kit and yes its drawing the hot air from the engine so all i need is the heat shield...

I purchase the one from "ChromeIntakes" for about $90. There are different colors that are available as well. It's all about where u position ur in take . I did mine it gains power and sounds really amazing and I have the 2.5 323i its pulls
