I might be crazy but wasn't a traditional wives life kind-of like a weekend every day a bit? Do some cleaning,cook some food and hang out with the family and friends. Maybe some drinks. Why did they change this it almost doubled the workforce,thats probably why .While the kids are in daycare at a young age which can cause people having trouble forming deep bonds later in life.
