you are the best ! You have helped me be a better plant parent. I Just love all your amazing videos you are so smart and you have helped me immensely. Thank you.
I put my cats in time out when they’re acting out for attention. Drop everything you’re doing and pick them up, don’t speak to or pet them, and put them in the bathroom for like 5 minutes. It stopped both my cats from scratching the couch, knocking stuff off counters, and biting plants. They learn that by doing these things to gain ur attention, they end up apart from you and bored. Idk if it works for every cat, but yelling at them or (god forbid) spraying them with water or something, doesn’t work because it either gives them what they want or makes them uncomfortable and lose trust in you.
I hate to see you having so much trouble with the props! Given your situation as a plant dealer, I highly encourage you to look into getting a grow tent. I think your props will all root and grow much more successfully for you if you can enclosed them in a high humidity and controlled lighting situation. That has been my experience at least. The other upside to that is you have no worries about household critters playing in the props. The stanleyana definitely root faster/better and a very high humidity environment, even though they will then grow wonderfully in room conditions. I’ve also found water propagation to be my slowest method of root growth, except for Syngonium and pothos. The rest all seem to root much faster for me in some sort of substrate like moss, Treefern, perlite… anything where the roots have to search a bit for water. Sometimes I think being in the vial of water let the roots be a little lazy. Hope everything picks up for you soon! (my kitties tend to get mischievous when I am filming also, I think they get confused by the fact that we are wandering around and talking to nobody, lol).
So sorry youre having so much frustration with imports via the burocracy. Your video was terrifuc. I love watching you do propagation and plant chores. It really helps me as I assess and care for my plants particularly those which are struggling. Love Theo, he definitely wants your attention. Maybe he thinks youre taking to him when you record and expects your undivided attention. But cant account for when hes an angel when youre not in the room. Best wishes for better luck with the imports. Everything looks stunning. Peace ❤
@AlohaPlantLife where can I see your cuttings? I've wanted to buy some of your plants for a long time but the ones on your site, I already have or have had in the past!
@@mydogmyplantsandme The only ones I’m shipping at the moment are the plants on the website. That might change in the next few months. I’ll keep you all updated💚
lol Theo is like "y'all I kid you not, my mama has NO RULES about me being on the counter or in the jungle of plants when you're not here!!! Don't you believe her!!" and all of us cat owners are nodding and smiling at Theo's lie because he tells it so convincingly :P
I’m so, so sorry your having all this trouble with shipments it’s crazy what’s happening. I’m not even sure I can say anything that may make you feel better with the situation. Theo is so funny he knows knows he will get attention if he plays with the plants lol. 💚
I had a regular deliciosa in march of last year arrive frozen and then it melted.... i kept the stump in the pot bc meh, and they replaced the plant, then about 3 months later, I got a very tiny leaf or two.... then, my dog was jealous of the plant getting attention so he ripped off the new leaves and uprooted the stump ripping off almost all the roots, so I put it in water to see if it could resurrect a second time, it did... and then when it had enough roots I potted it up with my other monster bc he didn't bug it. He again got mad and ripped it up and beheaded it except for one leaf that was unfurling, that brought us to about March this year... sooo back into water, and now finally it is back in soil, with its friends, and it has 3 leaves!! Chew has learned that "no touch mama's plants" only gives him an itchy mouth and a mad mama when he doesn't listen... ALL THAT to say, i think you will get roots and new growth bc my stump after the freeze was like maybe an inch long and had clearly been through the weather, and then its been uprooted and had its roots and leaves ripped off several times since and its sitting there singing "I'm a Survivor!!" like nothing happened. It is funny that my youngest monstera is the middle size, my oldest is the smallest and its replacement is the largest though... Age clearly doesn't matter!!! I had the black nodes so I do def see opportunity for life! I have been using some rooting hormone this summer and a makeup brush that is useless for makeup and putting it on nodes of plants that are planted and then misting it (pothos, philo brasil, and then even my alocasia nodes) and i have got branching and new growth so i am thinking that hormone with a bit of a mist actually helps. I've started to use it on my water props as well. I can't recall if you use a rooting hormone but it seems to work! I have the one by pro-mix.
M.standelyana are notoriously difficult to root. You could try a prop box, I use a moss/perlite mix or if you use stratum a cup with stratum/perlite and a leca reservoir
I know you have a ton of knowledge and know what you’re doing so I don’t like suggesting something so meek but from what I have heard and experienced pothos cuttings in water propagation does really help. Idk if you use root hormone or anything but I had a spider baby for over a month in water and nothing.. I added some pothos and within a week it sprouted roots! Idk 🤷🏻♀️ maybe worth a try.
@@AlohaPlantLife Awesome! Let us know how that goes. My husband is a cannabis grower on a very large scale (100% legal here) and they use root hormone on their clones and the roots they get are insane! 😂 like I seriously get jealous 😆 it’s magical stuff.
I know you know cats, so im not trying to educate you. But, i know cats like to be in the height, and they really enjoy if they can move around exploring. So dedicating some shelves for them around the house, can make them stop playing with your plants :) and also cat grass. :) love your videos, all of them 😍
I tried cat grass with Theo in a video a few months ago and he loved it but still messed with the other plants. He’s really just doing it to get my attention whenever he wants something. They also have their perches downstairs and my upstairs landing is open to the downstairs so they like to perch up there especially when I’m cleaning the floors. It’s like they’re the cleaning supervisors telling me when I missed a spot lol.

Love seeing your videos and how well your plants look! I have a Cuprea that I've had for 2 weeks. I haven't watered it because it's still wet. Now it is drooping badly. I repotted in a good soil mix. What do I do??? I love that little baby. Help!! Lol
I think I just replied to you about this in a different comment but let me know if that wasn’t you (so many comments this weekend and they’re starting to blur together in my brain🙃)
I’m also trying to save a Monstera Standleyana after root rot and it is slow going. It had mild root rot due to drying out because my greenhouse is hotter since my neighbor cut down his trees and I haven’t gotten it to improve even with shade cloth. I brought it out and it was bouncing back, but maybe I overwatered it because the bottom leaves started dying. I removed all the questionable roots and repotted. Now it is sad and wilty, but I hope it will rebound eventually. It’s been a hard summer!

Hi! I totally just realized I’m answering all your comments in the reverse order. Sorry about that lol.
I’ve heard that if you put a Pothos cutting into another prop it gives off some kind of hormones and stimulates new roots. Donna
I do do that when I have pothos cuttings available💚
Happy to see a new video from you. Sorry plants are not cooperating fully from "death box", yet.
